This week’s National Enquirer cover story is “Who’s Gay & Who’s Not,” and a 44-year-old unmarried actress like Lisa Edelstein seems like ripe fodder for gay rumors. But the mag also claims Lisa is dating an artist named Robert Russell.
Sexy House doctor Lisa Edelstein has found love on and off the screen. Lisa — whose TV character is embroiled in a red-hot romance with Hugh Laurie’s gruff Dr. Gregory House on the popular FOX series — is now dating artist Robert Russell, The Enquirer has learned.
“Lisa has really clicked with Robert,” said an insider. “They have great chemistry and share a love for art and social causes.”
The 44-year-old never-married actress, who portrays no-nonsense hospital administrator Dr. Lisa Cuddy on the medical drama, has kept her relationship with Robert under wraps for the past few months. But the two decided to go public in early December and were photographed together at the AIDS Research Alliance Press Conference in Los Angeles on Dec. 1 and then at the L’Oreal Women of Worth Awards in New York on Dec. 9.
Although she dated her Finnish yoga instructor Petri Raisanen throughout 2007 and artist Giammario Villa in 2008, Lisa has been busy with the show and focusing on her charitable causes for the past two years. Her favorite charities include Best Friends Animal Society, Save the Children, Planned Parenthood and amfAR.
“Lisa’s never been married because she’s extremely picky about men,” explained the insider. “And for the last year or so, Lisa’s favorite companions have been her beloved rescue dogs.”
But all that changed when Lisa met 39-year-old Robert.
“They are both art lovers and Robert is also a big believer in animal sanctuaries and causes,” revealed the insider.
Robert, who has two small children, split with his 38-year-old wife, Paulina Quintana, in August after almost eight years of marriage. He filed for divorce in LA in November, citing irreconcilable differences.
Despite the fact that Robert jumped into his romance with Lisa only a short time after his marriage breakup, his estranged wife told The Enquirer that she bears no ill will toward Lisa. Said Paulina, a children’s clothing designer: “I’ve never met Lisa, but I’m sure she’s a lovely person.”

I remember reading that Lisa was picky about men, so I’m glad to read she’s found love. I hope it lasts and it’s not just a rebound for him. Lisa seems like a smart woman, and I applaud anyone who supports animal charities.
I haven’t watched House this season, so I don’t know how well the House/Cuddy romance is working, but I’m not a fan of it in theory. It seems like a “jump the shark” move. Right or wrong, House fans?
Note by Celebitchy: I think House definitely jumped the shark when Cuddy hooked up with House. I can’t believe she would willingly get with him, and the show seems more outrageous than usual this season.
Note by Kaiser: I like their romance. I also think the writers had to do it – it makes sense that they would give each other a chance, I think. Plus, it’s interesting seeing a romance between two over-40 professionals on network television, and I think they’re being somewhat realistic with how the romance is dealt with. I can’t wait for Candace Bergen to come on as Mother Cuddy!

I liked her character on, House, back when I used to watch it. I can’t really picture their romance based on how they used to interact. House got to be too stressful for me. They nearly killed all of their patients every single show. I already had a phobia about hospitals. LOL
She’s very beautiful, and I find it interesting that she has never married. Glad she waited for just the right one.

She’s pretty yummy. All natural by the looks of it, well maybe not the tater tots, but that is forgivable.
I’m surprised they didn’t also make her gay fodder because of the lesbian/transgender roles she’s played in the past. Heaven forbid someone just be single and straight! And the article makes it seem like there’s been no one from 2008 til now, but I’m pretty sure that’s inaccurate and there’ve been boyfriends in between. She does seem to go for sort of unconventional guys.
I’m enjoying the House/Cuddy relationship on House. And I agree with you Kaiser – it’s cool to me they’re showing the (gorgeous) 44yr old with the 50+ male lead and not hooking House up with a teenager. I’d fully support more sex scenes between them this year!

I wasn’t sure about the whole ‘Huddy’ romance at first, but i think they’ve handled it well. I’ve really enjoyed this season so far, the relationship hasn’t been taking up too much time and seems pretty realistic to me.
I think House has gone downhill in the past 2 years, but I really like Amber Tamblyn as the newest doctor on House’s team – gives them a fresh dynamic. I was really disappointed with last season, especially since the season premiere was so amazing! When House and Cuddy hooked up at the end of the season I was completely thrown for a loop.
Also, have they even shown a new episode in the past 2 months?! I keep waiting and waiting and waiting…
She’s gorgeous and a great actress, but she has terrible taste in men.

i think the house romance really works. there is still tension and new problems which keeps it interesting.
what i do NOT like is the new younger doctor “masters.” she is very annoying.

I’d heard about this relationship previously, but always with the spin that it was a little iffy when they hooked up and when the divorce was filed (implying that Lisa had something to do with it). But, assuming the wife’s comments are valid, that seems to put those aspersions to rest.

some people are not totally gay and they’re not totally straight, so technically you can’t call them gay.
While I enjoy house, its pretty friggin’ annoying to have the first 10 minutes of each episode displaying semi-naked 40 somethings cuddling..I think most every episode has been that way which is irritating. I think Linda is stunning as well as House, but FOX needs to take it down a notch, especially with the butt check shots.
I was married for 20 years, and have been single for many now…..and I am and always have been hereto, and many, many people ASSUME I’m gay….and I don’t really care…..but it might hurt my odds in the whole love/romance category…..and that’s without any press….just regular ole people attempting to figure out single people…..we’re just single. That’s it. No mystery or scandal (well, we hope).
This woman is adorable and she looks much younger. I´m liking House this season but it looks like they are not showing episodes anymore.
I’ve loved Lisa since I first saw her playing a transgender in Ally McBeal and followed her career ever since. I think she’s not only an amazing (and also underrated) actress but also a wonderful person.
I am glad she’s happy and I wish her the best both in her personal life and her career.
I personally am loving the direction the show has taken putting these two characters together because they could only wait so much until the reunited. The show was getting a little stalled in season 6 and I almost gave up, but season 7 has given me a lot of hope as to what to expect from it.

This season of House has been really disappointing. I don’t find any chemistry between House and Cuddy and they were much better suited when they had sparring matches.
Love this woman and I think her and House are working. Watching on DVR where he got her a hooker massage. So funny how he messes with her still while he’s in “love”.
I hate medical shows, but I’ve always loved Hugh Laurie. I got tired of the show a couple of years ago, but started watching again when his character got together with Edelstein’s. I’m really liking the way that the romance is being written. House is still a pill and still pulling stuff, but sometimes he softens just a bit on something because of their relationship. Then he returns to being annoying again. To me, that is what saves the show and keeps it from jumping the shark. Lord knows, the medical part doesn’t because he would have lost his license long ago in the real world. She stays cute, cute, cute, though.
She has such awful taste in men, and this one takes the cake! He has 2 kids to pay child support to, they hooked up when he was supposedly dicvorcing, another poor artist, I mean she could do no worse if she picked a bum off the street! I’m sure her parents really like hearing about NE crap over something like this. Very talented and pretty woman who needs to pull her head out of her butt!

I have known Rob Russell for well over 10 years- although I haven’t talked to him in a long time. I just ran into a mutual friend who told me he was dating “Cuddy” from House. Decided to google it and found this page. I normally don’t comment on blogs, but felt the need to add something about Rob after seeing disparaging comments about him from people that know nothing about him.
What I can say is this man is a catch. Rob is not only a very successful artist and business man (definitely not a “bum”), but incredibly kind, very active in progressive causes and a *wonderful* father.
I don’t know anything about “Cuddy” to know if she deserves such a great guy, she seems very nice, beautiful and it appears that they have a lot in common. She is lucky to have him.

And he doesn’t seem so “good” since he left the mother of his children.

she’s a shark. she could not have children, wanted to be a patron to the arts so hunted the art shows to find an artist with children.
I knew her at NYU in 1984 when we were freshman and she loved to gay bash!…and claimed to have sex with men.
Robert and Lisa have been together for over two years and are obviously madly in love with each other. She is gorgeous, smart, funny and talented. If such a wonderful woman fell so hard for this guy i´m sure he must have a lot to offer.
