Heath Ledger is receiving overwhelmingly positive reviews for his performance as The Joker in The Dark Knight, but his friends have mixed feelings about seeing the late actor in one of his last roles.
Mary-Kate Olsen, whose role in Heath’s death is reportedly being questioned by the DEA and was rumored to be casually dating Heath at the time of his death, made a low-key visit to see The Dark Knight in New York City on July 24.
Dressed entirely in black, wearing sunglasses and sipping her customary Starbucks drink, Mary-Kate, 22, caught the 7:30 p.m. show at NYC’s Battery Park….”She was keeping to herself,” an onlooker tells OK! “She shut off her phone before entering the theater and seemed somber.”

Shutting off her cell phone must be how Mary-Kate shows respect.
Heath’s Brokeback Mountain co-star Jake Gyllenhaal is still coping with his death and can’t bring himself to see The Dark Knight, even though his sister Maggie is also in the film.
“Jake is proud that Heath did such a great job and is getting rave reviews for his performance — even Oscar talk — but he can’t see it right now,” a source tells Star. “He’s still not over it.”

I imagine it would be difficult to see a recently departed friend in a powerful performance, especially in such a dark film. I didn’t know Heath, but I still can’t watch A Knight’s Tale when it’s shown on USA Network.
In lighter news, Jake is basking in his new role as buff stud in his latest film Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time, and wants to show it off on the big screen. According to Star, he wants all his costumes to have the sleeves removed so his biceps can be seen.
“Jake has a lot of sword fighting scenes and wants to look strong and manly,” says an insider. Disney executives refused, but Jake insisted, so they compromised — 80 percent of the tops will have no sleeves.

Mathematically speaking, I don’t think 80/20 is a compromise, but if it results in gleaming biceps, I’m not going to argue. In fact, if Orlando Bloom, who was rumored to be up for the Prince of Persia lead, had made this demand, Kingdom of Heaven may have done better at the box office.

Sammie, were you the one who chose all of the pics of Jake giving Heath the hot, sweaty look of love?
But aside from the (funny) pics, this is really sad. 🙁
>Sammie, were you the one who chose all >of the pics of Jake giving Heath the >hot, sweaty look of love
No, credit for that goes to our wonderful hostess, CB herself 🙂
God, why don’t I get Gyllenhaal??? Gyllenhaal played himself in Brokeback Mountain – minus the gay part. I love the PoP games and just don’t see him as the Prince.
CB, you are naughty for picking these homoerotic images! 🙂
CB’s genius about picking the subtleinnuendo photos to go with any article. Seriously!
Anne, you’re not alone, he leaves me completely cold, left me completely cold on Cold Mountain too. All my Gyllenhaal love goes to Maggie.
“Shutting off her cell phone must be how Mary-Kate shows respect.”
Hilarious!
That’s dedication, man, that look of love he’s giving to Heath is so CUTE! Anyway, Jakey-Poo is the hotness!
yep, the pic choices are awesome. 😀
Aww those photos make me sad. 🙁
I was just looking for two photos of these guys together, but yes these stood out for me. 😉 Thanks for the compliments. JayBird picks the photos for her posts and she’s pretty good at it. I do everyone else’s photos.
I have never thought much of his looks either. Glad I am not the only one.
@Kaiser, I noticed the adoring looks Jake was giving Heath right off the bat. Too funny CB. 😆
I always thought Jake was a closet gay, and these pictures are reinforcing that. (Not that there is anything wrong with that.)
Does anyone know if Maggie made out with Heath in the movie? If so, I think it’s weird a brother and sister can discuss the kissing styles of the same guy.
Heath was hot–Jake..not so much…
Doesnt that Olsen thing have ALOT of money, so can someone tell me WHY she
chose to go OUT to see the movie.
Her doing that speaks to a lack of any brains whatsoever. I bet there are ALOT of people around her who told her that wasnt such a good idea and in quite poor taste.
I found Gyllenhaal’s reaction to Ledger’s death strange. I mean, there are reports that he was “devestated”, but he never went to see Michelle Williams in NY, despite being Mathilda’s godfather, or went to the funeral/wake in Australia.
In fact, I haven’t heard of his seeing Michelle or Mathilda since Ledger’s death.
I wonder if either Jake and Heath had a falling out before his death, or Michelle Williams really doesn’t like him?
Or it could be none of the above.
This is just one of those things I ponder about when I like to mind other people’s business!
“Gyllenhaal played himself in Brokeback Mountain – minus the gay part.”
Jake is gay.
I love heath and believed he was one of the best upcoming actors of our time…however, as someone mentioned before, the pics of how Jake is looking at heath are hilarious!….shoot, I would’ve been looking at Heath in the same way…… He’s hot!
@15 u mean celebs dont have to go out they can watch a the movie somewhere else???where?
anyway r.i.p heath *~* it be weird if jake didnt go to his funeral at least
