My mother’s pretty princess Cinderella, otherwise known as Amy Adams, is the cover girl for the February issue of InStyle UK. Now, my mother (and yours too, you know) may love the hell out of Amy, but the chick is a boring interview. She’s just so normal and well-adjusted and so not a famewhore in any way, shape or form. She’s a breath of fresh air, and she’s a wonderful actress. But, she’s a crappy interview. Anyway, in the excerpts I’ve found, she just talks about the baby weight from being pregnant with little Aviana:
She previously insisted she is in no rush to lose her baby weight – but Amy Adams how now confessed that she felt at her most beautiful when she was pregnant. The Oscar-nominated actress, who gave birth to her daughter Aviana eight months ago, told InStyle magazine that motherhood had changed her. And she added that having a child had brought out her softer side, and made her more vulnerable.
‘I can’t say, ‘I don’t care,” she said of being a mother. ‘I can’t be tough. There’s no truth to it. I love her. I need her in my life. I can’t pretend otherwise.’
As well as the interview, the 36-year-old showed just how much weight she had lost in a series of stunning photographs, styled by the magazine’s senior fashion editor Natalie Hartley. In the pictures, Amy poses in a series of fitted dresses and high heels, showing off an enviably slim figure. But despite this, she confessed in the interview that she has yet to lose all of her baby weight – and also revealed how much she enjoyed the pregnancy.
‘I never felt more beautiful than when I was pregnant,’ Amy said. ‘Because it wasn’t about me. The whole purpose of my body was no longer to fit into a sample size. It was to nurture another being. So I always felt great, no matter what I was wearing.’
Amy, who shot to stardom as Princess Giselle in Enchanted, could well be in line to add a third Oscar nomination to add to those she has already received for the films Junebug and Doubt, for her latest role as a feisty barmaid in The Fighter. The film, which also stars Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg, tells the true story of boxer ‘Irish’ Micky Ward and the brother who helped train him before he launched his professional career in the 1980s.
Amy said that one of the high points of the project for her was having the chance to work with Bale, whom she described as ‘awesome’. However she shares much of her screen time with Wahlberg, who plays Micky, and with whom her character becomes romantically involved.
‘David (O’Russell, the director), puts kisses into every scene,’ Amy said. ‘He said ‘okay now kiss, but like really kiss’. Mark was so sweet, he kept saying sorry because David didn’t want beautiful or soft kisses, he wanted sloppy Eighties music video kisses!’ she joked.
[From The Daily Mail]
I love the way she describes the screen kisses – “sloppy Eighties music video kisses”. That cracks me up, because we all know that kiss, right? The one where your whole friggin’ face is wet, and it’s not hot, AT ALL. God, I cannot stand a guy with a sloppy mouth, I really can’t. It’s one of my peeves. You think Mark Wahlberg is a sloppy kisser? I doubt it, actually.

She is so pretty. Hope my boy brings someone like her home one day. Just hope my husband doesn’t. Step Mother Kaiser knows best.
love the picture with the red shoes. but waaaay too much facial photoshop on the cover, I mean, c’mon, she’s an attractive woman, why erase her?
She is so friggin beautiful.
Loving the styling of the photoshoot!
Photoshopping is out of control! the cover doesn’t really look like her, and the one in the yellow dress they stretched her leg so much it looks distorted. gross.
She is so beautiful, love her!
she’s a beautiful sweet woman, can we top photoshopping her? she’s just about perfect on her own.
Mark Wahlberg for HGF!!!! love Amy 🙂
i think intervies/articles like these put alot of pressure on pregnant women/new moms. of course it’s easier to lose the baby weight if you can afford a personal trainer, a nutritionist, and someone to take care of the kid while you work out. plus you get to be styled, spanxed and photoshopped into oblivion afterwards. all my friends with small kids are either at work, picking up the kids from daycare, making dinner or running errands, and it took most of them about a year to lose the baby weight. i’m not a mother but just my observation.
and yeah – waaaayyy too much photoshopping on the cover.
I felt the same during my first pregnancy–like my body was saying, “Yay! This is what I’m made for! You’re a mommy goddess!” With my second baby? The complete opposite–I feel like an enormous blimp.
@original kate: I agree on the weight pressure. I’m definitely feeling the pressure to lose weight much more this time. I gave birth to a 9+lb baby 3 weeks ago, and I keep trying on my pre-pregnancy jeans and crying because they don’t fit. I don’t know if it’s pressure from looking at skinny women or just my own insecurity & hormones. Alot of pregnancy/mom books say, “It took you 9 months to put the weight on, give yourself 9 months (to a year) to get it back off”. But when celebs are claiming they ate whatever they wanted and dropped 50lbs in 6wks it can be pretty disheartening.
She looks absolutely fabulous!!
And if a man kissed me like that, I would never see them again. IT TOTALLY CREEPS ME OUT.
Moving on out of the creep zone….
I must be missing something. I don’t find her beautiful, I find her plain/pretty. Not interesting to look at at all.
Like her acting though.
It looks like she’s missing a leg in the picture with the yellow dress
there’s always been photo retouching in hollywood get over it. Amy’s legs look distroted in the last picture because of the height of the heels she’s wearing not due to photoshopping. Nor is she the first celebrity to say they felt most beautiful while pregnant with their child or children I remember hearing Sophia Loren & Joanne Woodward both say the same thing though Amy didn’t have a loss or losses prior to Aviana like both of the above mentioned women did before their children & both also had step children because their husbands had been married previously
I dont care what anybody says, she’s a great actress and I love her 🙂 it’s good to breath fresh air once in a while, you know?
Have you never seen Fear???? When Mark and Reese are making out, it looks like Mark is trying to swallow her face. I would NEVER make out with Mark for fear of suffocation. ICK.
(sleep with, on the other hand….) 😛
“But when celebs are claiming they ate whatever they wanted and dropped 50lbs in 6wks it can be pretty disheartening.”
@ scarlet vixen: what these bitches really mean is: “i ate whatever i wanted and dropped 50 lbs. in 6 weeks. luckily, i only wanted to eat celery and hot water with lemon. oh, and the laxatives helped.”
Yeah, they all say that, to sound like superwomen (translated: I’m so fabulous, pregnancy didn’t diminish my beauty in any way).
Then they promptly go back to starving themselves to a size 0, which is *really* where they feel the most beautiful.
“What these bitches really mean is: ‘i ate whatever i wanted and dropped 50 lbs. in 6 weeks. luckily, i only wanted to eat celery and hot water with lemon. oh, and the laxatives helped’.”
Hahahah…thanks, I needed that!
@Original Kate… LMAO
My thoughts exactly
“they promptly go back to starving themselves to a size 0, which is *really* where they feel the most beautiful.”
this.
She is stunning in that yellow dress and those red shoes rock!
This site is pretty awesome, not just because of Kaiser’s hilarious posts, but also because of the posters’ comments. It’s nice to read an honest discussion about the about the weight pressure and how it’s unrealistically flaunted by Hollywood moms. So true. Amy Adams seems a bit more down to earth than other princesses like Goopy.
Has anyone seen “The Fighter”? OMG she was amazing! I didn’t expect it at all – thought (like everyone else) that there would be no way she could be a tough-ass Boston girl. She really blew me away. One thing: in an interview recently she talked about how they didn’t want her to lose too much weight for the role because they wanted her to look “normal”. Her body was AWESOME in the movie. She is sadly now bordering on really thin (but still gorg and fit, I do concede). She is thinner now than she has ever been, no?
I am SUPER worried about losing my baby weight & I haven’t even had my baby yet! Hell, I still have 4 1/2 months to go! I haven’t gained a whole whole lot (yet) but still… Part of me doesn’t care because I know I need to be healthy (& round!) for my son, but the other part looks in the mirror & screams “fatty!” at me. Our society has such effed up priorities… Sigh…
Why is my comment still in mod? Its been there for 20 minutes?
shes 36?
I didn’t think she was pretty until I saw her in a movie and now I think she’s beautiful. One of my favorite actresses.
She’s naturally a cute blonde but as a redhead she’s SO much more attractive. Who knew that dyed red hair could look so real?
@Bodhi: I’m gonna sound like a big ol’ hypocrite after my earlier post, but don’t stress about it! I gained 48lbs during my first pregnancy, and lost nearly all of it in the first 10wks (thankyou breastfeeding!). I gained 52lbs with my daughter, and in 3.5wks have lost over 30lbs already. We’re all too hard on ourselves, but as long as you’re eating healthy–but don’t be afraid to indulge sometimes, too–don’t worry. I’m sure you look fabulous pregnant and will after you have your beautiful baby!
CB is the best!
Every woman’s experience is different, and it’s lovely to hear positive experiences of pregnancy and childbirth. It’s also equally important to have the not-so-great stories so that women are under no illusions about how traumatic and difficult it can be for some women to fall pregnant, carry the baby, deliver the baby, breastfeed the baby, etc. And Hollywood celebrities, in my opinion, should not be any woman’s role model when it comes to post-birth weight loss! 🙂
I used to look like a twelve-year old (that’s seriously how I look, face and body); now, after the birth of my son, I look in the mirror and see a twelve-year-old with stretch marks everywhere, a saggy belly, etc! 😀 And I don’t really care, because after everything I’ve been through how I look naked seems less important than it used to be. And that’s because in my son’s eyes I’m beautiful and at 8 months old, he can’t take his eyes off me and absolutely adores me. And THIS makes me feel beautiful! 😀
Jemshoes,
I havent been blessed with the experience of pregnancy but after reading your beautifully well-put comment…..well, it might be something to look forward to someday:). Thank you and may God bless you and your equally beautiful baby boy:). XOXOXO!!!
Funny, I feel like I should know something about this woman (her being Oscar nominated & all) but I really have no idea who she is at all. Odd, that.
Where is her other leg in the yellow dress picture? Did they photoshop it out or am I just missing something? But that being said she looks beautiful and I love her as an actress!
Im 7 months along with my first and I feel huge! I havent gained a lot of weight but beautiful is the last thing I feel right now.
Oh well! Thats why theres slim fast and treadmils 🙂
It looks like her left leg was cut off just below the knee wtf???
@jemshoes: “…and at 8 months old, he can’t take his eyes off me and absolutely adores me.”
Oh, I’ve been thinking a lot about that stage lately. Where they are totally absorbed with you. How I miss it and envy you.
@Bodhi: I’m 6 months pregnant and am so worried about losing the baby weight too. Any of us can feel disgusting when we look at people like Miranda Kerr (who just popped) who still looked so skinny during her pregnancy. I got big fast but have balanced out a bit. Since I got the OK to do more than just walk, I’ve been getting the rest of me in good shape as best I can. The thing that scares me more about losing the weight is the labor itself! No matter how much I read about it to prepare myself, I am worried about the pain. I live in a foreign country (China, my husband is Chinese) so I worry of the healthcare and getting to the hospital quickly (traffic here is insane). I guess there are worse things than gaining some weight! Good luck with your pregnancy!
