Below is the first image from X-Men: First Class, which is the X-Men reboot that Hollywood is trying with Michael “The Fassdong” Fassbender as Magneto and James McAvoy as Professor X. If I was in charge of the promotional campaign for this movie, I think I would just release a “promotional image” of James and Michael licking each other. If only studios would consult with me! Instead, we get this horrid too-small pic of the entire cast (?):
In case you’re wondering why the whole thing looks so dated, it’s supposed to look that way. It’s set in the 1960s. I guess that explains January Jones’ retro Playboy bunny outfit. The cast, from left to right: Michael Fassbender as Magneto, Rose Byrne as Moira MacTaggert, January Jones as Emma Frost, Jason Flemyng as Azazel, Nicholas Hoult as Beast, some dude (I don’t know), Zoe Kravitz, Jennifer Lawrence as Mystique, and James McAvoy as Professor X.
The synopsis of the film:
X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, following the classic Marvel mythology, charts the epic beginning of the X-Men saga. Before Charles Xavier and Erik Lensherr took the names Professor X and Magneto, they were two young men discovering their powers for the first time. Before they were archenemies, they were closest of friends, working together, with other Mutants (some familiar, some new), to stop the greatest threat the world has ever known. In the process, a rift between them opened, which began the eternal war between Magneto’s Brotherhood and Professor X’s X-Men.

Yeah, this might be making the comic book nerds all squirmy and excited, but if they want women to come out for this film – nay, if they want major box office – they need to give us more Fassdong and McAvoy. Preferably shirtless. And embracing. Perhaps a little dong tug wouldn’t hurt either.

This thing doesn’t follow the classic X-men myth because the real first class was composed of : Beast, Jean Grey (aka Phoenix), Cyclops, Iceman, and Angel (Warren Worthington III). Plus Emma Frost was never apart of Magneto’s group, she was in the Hell’s Fire Club.
Even though I love James and Michael, I don’t think I’m going to see this because I’m tried of the studios and screenplay writers messing with my favorite comicbook characters. The only up side I can see with this movie is at least it isn’t another X-men movie that will be all about Wolverine and his story, like the other three X movies.
Wow. I don’t even care about the rest of the cast. I will likely only ever see this for James McAvoy and Fassbender.
How do you make Mystique ugly too btw? That girl’s forehead. ouch.
This poster really doesn’t make me care in the least. Kinda like the redundant Spider Man remake.
Fassdong is a hunk.
James McAvoy…mmmm….hot!
How do we know that this poster is “official” and not some fan made thing. I think it looks photoshopped here and there. So if its real, that isn’t giving me much comfort for the movie. Oh well.
I agree with Marianne. McAvoy looks plugged in.
jinni: Word. Especially after the massive c@ck-up that was X-Men 3/the non-Dark Phoenix Saga. I didn’t even bother seeing the Wolverine movie, though Hugh Jackman is one of my favourites.
That’s exactly what I said! I would have released a photo of McAvoy and Fassbender only–either at the friend part of their relationship–or better–the enemy. All those smoldering looks! (You can find a better pic than this of McAvoy! I hate those Red Carpet photos taken from atop ladders so that the star has a big head and tiny feet…) I think the group photo’s “real”–but it’s a bootleg, not the one the studio planned to release.
Anyone else see a resemblance between the extremely hot Fass and a young Eastwood?
I’m a comic book movie geek, and this isn’t interesting me at all. The lack of a shirtless Hugh Jackman may be to blame, although I do agree that the other X-Men movies are too much about him.
For the record, JJ’s character Emma Frost ALWAYS dresses in ridiculously skanky outfits, so that probably has little to do with the time period. 🙂 Emma has been known to say that she likes to flaunt “the best body money can buy”.
Jinni/Gecko – Took the words out of my mouth.
I’m a woman and a major maaaaajor geek and that poster did nothing for me and X-Men used to be one of my favorite comic books. Sigh. I couldn’t even get through the third xmen movie.
I will have to say I agree with Marianne and hope this was like a bad fan picture because it looks awful all around from the styling to just everything … ugh I’m depressed I need a cookie now.
It seems to be that the third movie installment of any super hero movie is a waste. Spiderman 3 and X-Men: The Last Stand come to mind. It’s like all the action and special effects can make up for lousy acting and a pathetic story line.
Littledeadgirl – Can you pass a cookie to me too please?
I hate these half shadow pics. If it was an older cast they could be trying to make them look better but with a young hot cast it’s a big waste of talent and beauty.
i might of just wet myself 😀
watch centurion!
Kaiser: I just read on Lainey Gossip that Fassbender and Zoe Kravitz are dating! I think they make a hot couple, though this movie promo looks all sorts of FAIL
SekB – Yeah, I covered the interview where Zoe’s girlfriend status was revealed.

They met on the set.
Did someone say Fassbender?! Holla!
I’m with the other comic book bitches here.. X3 was a travesty and this looks debatable too. However, I think January Jones suits Emma Frost’s look very well!
looks like a porno dvd cover
