This weeks tabloid covers: Sarah Palin and Angelina dominate

Sarah Palin and her nearly five month-old son, Trig, are featured on most of next week’s tabloids and celebrity glossies. OK! and US use the same photo of Palin and Trig but one of the magazines flips it horizontally, I would say OK!. OK! offers dual covers for the first time, with Sarah Palin and Barack and Michelle Obama on competing covers. Judging from the accompanying articles about Obama and Palin on OK!’s website, it doesn’t seem like either of the candidates provides any exclusive statements or interviews to OK!

Angelina Jolie also dominates the covers, and is featured on the covers of In Touch, Life & Style with her husband and Tom and Katie and in an inset on The National Enquirer. The Enquirer uses a concerned photo of Brad and Angelina with the text “Something is wrong with the twins” and a bubble that reads “Medical Team Called In.” I hope it’s some minor thing that’s being blown out of proportion like everything else about these two. There’s also a supposed feud brewing between top Hollywood couples Brangelina and TomKat, according to Life & Style which reads “Showdown!” They promise it’s an “Exclusive untold story,” but I would bet it’s just someone jumping to conclusions. The cover of Life & Style reads “Competition, jealousy and battling for the same movie roles.” Ten to one the movie role issue is only thing that’s confirmed at all and it was like one role that two of them were both rumored to be up for.

Each week I get The National Enquirer, Star, and In Touch, and can get access to any of these other magazines. Let me know what you’re interested in reading about. Chances are it’s not as sensational as you’re hoping. The good stories are usually the ones buried inside that the mags never think to put on the cover.

Thanks to thelittlevoice on ONTD for these covers.

    ZOMG CHRIST ON A CRACKER.

My favorite headline? The one about Carrie Underwood, who “thinks Jess looks fat” – πŸ˜† πŸ˜†

And does anyone else think it’s funny that Tom and Angie are the ones battling over the same film roles?

@CB – I really love this and hope it becomes a regular weekly feature. Jezebel does it too, and that’s the only reason I ever stop in over there.

  2. mE says:

I think the US cover is disgusting. Why have a picture of Gov. Palin and her child with the words “lies” and “scandal” over them both?

  3. Jenna says:

No Kaiser, I find it funny too.

FINALLY! We get the real picture of Bristol. At least I was lead to believe the pictures that were highlighted of her on the site were not Bristol.

Also that picture Star uses of Angelina is clearly from a LONG time ago. She looks younger than she is. Plus if they are referring to Brad going to the premire of Burn After Reading as him partying, they are complete idiots.

  4. Feebee says:

so are OK going to tell us who’s cover won? like the mag who did the Jolie/Aniston dual covers a while back.

  5. jacqueline says:

    all hype. complete bunkum rubbish.
Why should Angelina be out and about? She’s living in how many hundreds/thousands of acres??
And, hello – why do you think Brad & Angelina chose such a huge acreage??
All just to sell magazine copies – don’t buy them. Boycott.
    Leave Angelina in peace.
Do you think Brad would have gone to Italy if the twins were in trouble?
O leave it out (as we say in the UK).

  6. geronimo says:

What is Oprah’s war with Mrs O about? What bitter feud?

And Ang is really busy, no, what with movie role battling, PP depression, twin-worrying and husband-partying issues. Multi-tasker!

  7. Syko says:

Movie role battling, PP depression, twin-worrying, husband partying AND trying to keep Ms. Z from taking over the world before reaching the age of majority!

  8. Kaiser says:

@Geronimo, Syko – Or as Angie calls it, “Wednesday”…

  9. geronimo says:

    πŸ˜† All in a day’s work!

  10. Bodhi says:

Brad & Angie vs. Tom & Kat(i)e? Wha? why would anyone believe that nonsence?

I’d rather see Angie vs. Sarah Palin 😈

  11. Syko says:

You do have a mean streak, don’t you, Bodhi? πŸ˜†

  12. geronimo says:

Bitter feud? Bitter is another name for beer here in the UK. Perhaps the two Os are fighting over beer? I’ve fought with people over beer and it can get very nasty. Anyone know what they’re warring over?

And yeah, bodhi, oddness, I can’t imagine two less likely couples supposedly competing for the same roles.

  13. laura says:

Yes! I’d love to read the stories/gossips either on the cover or inside the magazines and your remark. Thanks for sharing. I suppose it is the first time celebitchy posts so many weekly covers at the same time… Great job! Let me say, why not begin with the feud between Oprah and Michelle Obama?

  14. laura says:

Moreover, the “dark secret” (alleged affair?) revealed by the Enquirer looks juicy as well. Like to know the details. Tks a lot

  15. Bodhi says:

    πŸ˜† Who me? Never!

  16. what says:

i’d like to know why katie holmes has no friends? (though i can guess.)

  17. Nouvel says:

Palin is a joke.. the poor baby is innocent but PALIN is a JOKE!!!! She could never be VP !!!!

  18. SolitaryAngel says:

I’m interested in this “O” feud, too! And I can’t for the life of me understand what possible movie roles one would consider both Brangelina AND TomKat for?! 😯

I, too, think I know why Katie has no friends, but would like to see their take on it…

  19. Orangejulius says:

Nouvel – I’m almost afraid to agree with you on here (politics and religion = taboo subjects), but I completely agree with you. I’m pissed and offended by his choice of Palin for Veep. What a selfish old bastard to put this country and the world in the position of having someone with so little experience be next in line for one of the most important jobs in the world. OK, now I’m taking cover. Grrrr.

Oh, well, in for a penny, in for a pound. I’m praying to Santa Claus that they don’t get in. There, I’ve covered both subjects in one post. I must be in a ‘fuck it’ mood!

    OJ πŸ˜€

  21. Bodhi says:

    Rant away OJ!

  22. Gracie says:

Palin was an incredibly astute political choice by McCain. The base was going to vote for him anyway – but only as an alternative to Obama….maybe… or the base would sit home.

Now, the base is invigorated, and invigorated people volunteer and actually get out the vote. While many Dems here are cynical, or think it was poor vetting, or just a poor choice on McCain’s behalf, we in the base know better. If he had chosen a pro-choice VP, he would have lost in a landslide.

  23. Diva says:

Because that’s all that is at stake here, the abortion issue?

    Oh… ok

  24. Bodhi says:

Gracie, its more than just the “Dems here.”

And I’ve heard many quotes from “the base” who seriously question the choice of Mrs. Palin as vp

  25. Jenna says:

I’ve met plenty of people who are now angered at McCain’s decision and are thus leaning more towards Obama. What surprised the hell out of me is that they were all Republicans as well.

  26. enchantress says:

Looking at that photo of Trig in Palin’s arms on the cover of OK breaks my heart, he looks so fragile. Palin, on the other hand, does not. She looks like a ruthless b*tch with her bared-teeth maniacal grin. Sarah-Barracuda, indeed. πŸ‘Ώ

  27. Diva says:

It’s a shame Tina Fey isn’t still on SNL, she would have nailed the impersonation of Sarah Palin. They look remarkably alike, and Tina would have had all kinds of fun with that Alaska/Canada accent!

  28. stellapurdy says:

My vote goes for The Enquirer – just read this on Huffpost:

“The National Enquirer’s coverage of a vicious war within Sarah Palin’s extended family includes several newsworthy revelations, including the resulting incredible charge of an affair plus details of family strife when the Governor’s daughter revealed her pregnancy. Following our John Edwards’ exclusives, our political reporting has obviously proven to be more detail-oriented than the McCain campaign’s vetting process. Despite the McCain camp’s attempts to control press coverage they find unfavorable, The Enquirer will continue to pursue news on both sides of the political spectrum.”

And guess what, “John McCain’s presidential campaign is threatening a lawsuit”

sometimes the jokes just write themselves folks

  29. Orangejulius says:

I just watched her speech and am afraid, very afraid. I grudgingly admit she was a good speaker, even tho’ I wanted to throw things at the TV screen. What scares me (among other things) is that a lot of Repubes who might have switched over will now be back on board.

  30. enchantress says:

Agree w/OJ – like a lot of sociopaths, Palin is charming, convincing, and well-spoken. Be afraid, be very afraid.

  31. Hell0 says:

whoa, this is going to get even better!!!! Repubs for Obama/Biden 08 ~ fanfreakintastic!!!!

  32. Syko says:

One thing that scares me – I use AOL for e-mail, and they keep a straw poll running, which for some time has shown McCain with over 60% of the popular vote, which I find hard to believe in light of the other polls around the country.

This morning they had a poll about our reactions to Palin’s speech. I did not, of course, watch the speech, since almost any Republican speaking has the same effect on me as Spencer and Heidi making out, but I checked into the answers to the poll and it seemed so favorable for her. Everyone seemed to LOVE her speech.

So, am I hanging out with a lot of Republicans on AOL, or was it really a decent speech?

  33. daisy424 says:

Her speech rocked Syko, I liked her delivery and confidence. She was funny also.
    BTW
Bill O has Obama on tonight @ 8pm EDT.

edit*I wasn’t leaning towards either side and wanted to see what both sides were about, I wanted to educate myself, I did watched Obama’s speech.

  34. geronimo says:

Syko, here it is if you can be bothered: I’ve scanned through it (couldn’t make myself actually watch it) and it seems to pay lip service to everything die-hard Republican voters want to hear. Not inspiring, not noteworthy, just a speech.

  35. geronimo says:

CB, my comment’s gone to spam. Has a guardian link to the speech in it. Can you please locate. Thanks.

Daisy, sorry to disagree but even if she’s capable of delivering a well-rehearsed, carefully thought-out speech, it doesn’t change anything about who she is or her suitability for high office.

  36. daisy424 says:

‘…delivering a well-rehearsed, carefully thought-out speech, it doesn’t change anything about who she is or her suitability for high office.”

Absolutely agree Geronimo, that goes for every candidate delivering a speech πŸ˜‰

Edit* Perez has a link to her speech if you’re intersested Syko.

  37. geronimo says:

πŸ˜€ Oh absolutely, Daisy, same rules apply!

  38. Kaiser says:

I watched Palin’s speech, too. And I was disgusted. So negative – and after Obama defended her. Rip her to shreds, Biden!

@Syko – The latest Gallop poll has Obama at 50%, McCain at 42-3%…so yeah, AOL polling is sketchy at best.

  39. Syko says:

Thank heavens for AOL’s bad polling! I was worried.

  40. daisy424 says:

I saw that too Kaiser, you’re right, they have more reliable polling.
    Breathe easier Syko πŸ˜‰
