Star Magazine has a new interview with Rumer Willis, the 20 year-old oldest daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore. Rumer talks about her supportive family, including her stepfather, Ashton Kutcher, 30. Rumer had her first major movie role in the comedy The House Bunny, which was out in late August. The film did decent business at the box office, with a domestic take of $42 million so far.
Rumer says it’s always been her dream to go into show business, but that she knows she “definitely” doesn’t “fit the Hollywood mold.” She also admits to having a crush on her stepdad. This is similar to a quote she recently gave Cosmopolitan, so she either has talking points or she gave this interview in a press conference.
Growing up with such famous parents, did you hope to follow in their footsteps?
I grew up around sets and always dreamed of acting and singing. But’s never been about me. I’ve always been an outsider, looking in at what my parents were doing. So to be able to work on my own films recently has been a really exciting chapter in my life. What was it like when Ashton joined your family?
It was definitely strange when my mom got together with Ashton, because he was a heartthrob to me. My mom said that her new “friend” Ashton was going to come hang out with us. And I said “Whoa, wait, Ashton Kutcher?” and I kind of freaked out a bit. I definitely blushed. How did you get over your crush on him?
I got over any strangeness because I’d never seen my mom happier. It was like watching two 16 year-olds who were going to the prom together and totally in love…Has your dad, Bruce, been comfortable with your own dating?
My dad pretends he’s macho and tells people about how he vets our boyfriends and is really touch, but it’s not true at all. It’s totally an act. He’s always so sweet to my boyfriends…What’s your personal style?
I know I definitely don’t fit the Hollywood mold, the classic blond girl next door. I love vintage ’40s style. I also love tattoos. I have a sparrow on my shoulder, a rosary on my finger, and another that reads, “Be Present,” down the left side of my back. What’s a typical Saturday night for you?
I am not a party girl, whatever people may think. My ideal Saturday night is hanging out with a great group of friends. We sit around and play Catch Phrase or Celebrity. I try to surround myself with people who want to have fun. It’s not about being in a scene and being famous.

JayBird likes to make fun of Rumer, and I can’t entirely blame her, but the more interviews I read with her the more she’s growing on me. She has a great head on her shoulders despite all the attempts to point out how angular it is. Did any of you see House Bunny (it’s not out here yet) and did Rumer do a competent job? The film did not get great reviews, but it sold enough tickets and that’s what matters in Hollywood.

I do think Bruce is a good father, and I totally buy that he’s extremely protective of his girls (Demi included). Despite what I think of Rumor, they’re a nice family.
Yes, it does sound as if Rumer has, ahem, the right ‘values’.
Yeah, I have to say I admire that they kept the divorce friendly for the sake of the kids, and that they seem to work together to parent them.
I’m not really a fan of Rumer, but I do agree that the more interviews I read, the less I dislike her.
She’s got a really nice body, now if only something could be done about that jaw. But overall, definitely not “ugly” as some have said. She looks like the girl next door.
I like her. I didn’t at first, but I caught the Rumer wagon a few months ago.
I, too, thought she was trying to “break into the biz” by riding on the coattails of her famous parents; now, I’ve revised that opinion. I have heard SO many negative things about Demi that it’s frankly turned me off her, but I really like Bruce and I LOVE the way the two of them have behaved—-staying close, being friends and most of all, supporting their children unselfishly. 8)
I think they are the ultimate example of what divorced parents SHOULD be; would that we all had such an awesome set of parental figures!! 🙄
I haven’t seen House Bunny yet; don’t think I will, either. Fluffy movies don’t do it for me. 😉
Bruce is smooth with the ladies.
AGREE LAURIE AND DIVA…..AND CODZILLA.., I also ” caught the rumor train “, awhile back, even though most people still pick on her and her looks..Granted she is no ” demi “, but more Bruce-like, she has her own unique style..( like her name )..I love the way bruce and Demi have managed their girls through all of the divorce..AND get along so well, with their significant others..AND, vacation together..That is awesome!!!..to bad more divorced couples can’t get along as well as they have!
Why is her mother Demi Moore considered such a beauty? To me, Demi is an average pretty lady who is groomed to the nines. Rumer looks to me like the chicks I see on the street — pretty enough and seems to have a good personality. Kinda like most of us.
Yay!!!! Rumey* love abounds! I think she seems pretty cool and as mentioned several times, down to earth.
Cookies for everyone for playing so nicely! 😀
*footnote to Lainey Gossip, who coined “Rumey” and triggered my fondness for Ms. Willis.
I like Rumer but used to wish she’d get her jaw shaved down. I’m not so sure now as that would just play into the Hollywood beauty game and it seems someone who looks unique is more interesting. I mean they’re not telling Steve Buscemi to get porcelain veneers.
At least Bruce’s new girlfriend is prettier than Demi. Strange how his girlfried is just as old as her boyfriend?
Bruce is a good guy if he can stand straight after his wife left him for a younger man, and then expects him to vacation with them, for the sake of “their children”. Cant figure out how he does that.
