This is just our Open Post for all things Oscar this year – I’ll be updating this throughout the red carpet (I‘ll be watching the E! Red Carpet, by the way), and once the ceremony starts and the big awards begin to be handed out, CB and I will be doing individual posts on the winners. I have my fingers crossed for The King’s Speech, but other than that, I have to say… this might be one of the most subdued awards seasons ever, so I have very low expectations for this Oscar telecast. The most interesting people tonight will probably be the presenters. I do hope there’s at least one major upset… perhaps in Best Supporting Actress?
Anyway, if you’re drinking tonight, first of all, DON’T DRIVE. Hopefully your drunk ass is sitting at home with your box of wine and a bag of Doritos, in which case, might I suggest you take a big gulp of your jug o’ wine every time:
1. Ryan Seacrest comes on to a male celebrity on the red carpet.
2. You can see a woman’s Spanx line.
3. A woman winces when she tries to smile through the Botox.
4. La Seacrest makes celebrities talk about him.
5. James Franco laughs at one of his own jokes.
6. James Franco or Anne Hathaway makes a reefer joke.
7. Every gratituitous cut-away to Natalie Portma’s bitchface.
You should be wasted by 8:30! Enjoy yourselves, bitches! I’ll start updating once the red carpet gets swinging.
6:02 – Okay, the Red Carpet has begun! Jennifer Lawrence is absolutely beautiful, and I love that she wore her hair down. The Calvin Klein dress is simple and pretty. I like it. It’s age-appropriate too.
6:04 – I like Guiliana’s Christian Sirano too!
6:07 – OH NOES. What is Melissa Leo wearing, a doily?!? Also: was that little Hailee Steinfeld in the prom gown?
6:11 – Hot damn! Mila Kunis looks AMAZING. Did you see that strut? Melissa Leo is wearing Marc Bower, btw. A Marc Bower original mirrored doily dress. Tacky, tacky, tacky. I don’t even like ML’s hair.
6:16 – Armie Hammer is so… unaffected. He’s just big and goofy and kinda dumb.
6:22 – Hailee looks like a 15-year-old girl who wanted to look like a princess. She’s adorable. Who caught the hint of Michelle Williams in a F&%$# neutral.
6:24 – Oh, okay – Michelle Williams looks cute, and I love that her “date” is Busy Phillips, her BFF. Thoughts on Amy Adams’ navy/purple dress? Love that Dame Seacrest mispronounced “antithetical”.
6:27 – Florence Welsh was cute but boring. Mila… same. I dislike Mila’s hair. Mandy Moore, just STOP.
6:32 – Russell Brand is presenting with his true love Dame Helen Mirren!!! OK, I LOVE Michelle’s dress.
6:34 – Um, what’s going on with Michelle Williams’ lips? Is that The Herpe?!? The Chanel is gorge though.
6:41 – I liked Anne Hathaway’s red dress. She was really working it too. OOOooh, Mark Ruffalo! And I HATE Amy Adams’ L”Wren Scott dress and styling. I’ve made up my mind. Her bad hair made the decision for me.
6:49 – Why are Guiliana & Kelly jizzing over Mandy Moore’s dumb Monique Lul-whatever dress? It sucked.
6:50 – I love Mark Ruffalo. I love that he loves his wife.
6:51 – J.Hud in orange-red. Don’t care for what the dress does to her boobs. At all.

And bitches, you’ve got to drink after Seacrest tried to get into Matthew McCon.’s pants. Love Camila Alves’ dress. She looked so beautiful. HATE HATE HATE Nicole Kidman’s dress. It’s HIDEOUS.

I hope the upset is in the best actress category — Natalie Portman has the most overrated performance since GOOPy in Shakespeare In Love — she had two emotions in that film (scared & confused) and going from crazy to crazier isn’t much of an arc.
Yeah and Guiliana has to walk a fine line because she slams some of those celebs on Fashion Police.

I like most of the movies nominated this year, so I don’t feel like this year’s awards are subdued. Probably this is the first time in years that I think that the movies (and actors) deserve the nominations they got. With the exception of the overrated “The social network” (which probably is going to win for Best director, meh.)
I too root for The King’s Speech, not for the movie per se, but because I enjoyed every performance of every actor, and the direction is so subtle that is almost perfect.
Well hope you’re going to post also the pictures from the red carpet, I don’t think I’m gonna stay awake all night to see the show, but above all I hope that somoeone will tell Franco that fundation is not his enemy, neither is the sun (unless his skin is as sensitive as mine, but I don’t think so).

Loved Jennifer Lawrence, Mila, Hilary Swank, Reese Witherspoon, Penelope, and Sandra so far.
Disliked: Melissa Leo (she needs a new stylist), Mark Ruffalo’s wife, Nicole Kidman.
I hate to say it, but I didn’t like Cate Blanchett’s from the waist up, and I usually love her in anything. Gwenyth looks like she’s trying too hard, and her boobs look weird in that dress. I would have preferred her dress on Cate much more.

I just ran in here to coooo about Celine Dion. How magnificient is that woman just a few months after giving birth to twins? Her dress is true Oscar Red Carpet worthy as is the lady herself. Just beautiful. Okay, I’ll shut up but Celine Dion is God’s gift to us all…Okay, okay. Enjoy ladies.

I agree, Goopy’s hair looks bad. You’d think she would have added a few extensions in to make the hair look more full. And her face looked washed out and colorless on HD. I love Goopy, don’t get me wrong, but this was not her best look. I hope she has a great performance though.

I think it is very contradictory how you say where you graduated matters to define someone, yet, you call someone in a doctorial degree stupid, and implies that graduating from Yale doesnt mean much.
James and Anne don’t seem to have chemistry. She seems to enjoy too much the glam life (acting out too much. We know you are talented, you don’t need to try too hard)and he is kind of meh, I don’t care (i got to leave and go back to NYC- but hey he’s having an after party). Also, it seems he cannot read the prompt. Finally, I guess they didn’t give Franco many lines because he did not have time to rehearse.
ps: can someone please explain to me why people like the social network (argh!)? Oh, I just noticed that a friend of mine wore a similar(but cheaper) dress Reese is wearing, she’s adorable!
@Rudy, I’m a Penn Alum and it doesn’t make me any more cultured than the other posters here; nor does it guarantee I will make more money or be successful. As a matter of fact, I will never make as much money as my mother (who is a *gasp* mere high school graduate), yet rose through the ranks of a well known not-for-profit to become VP.

I’m starting to think that Ryan Seacrest sold his soul to the devil because he went from 0 to 100 in such a short amount of time. He got a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame several years before Dennis Hopper if that helps put it into perspective.
Everything about the Oscars is boring this year. The movies, hosts, fashion, and no diversity. I think God made it rain so my satellite would black out and save me from this.
Interesting long show. I thought Ann did well considering Franco appeared to be stoned. I just don’t get this Franco actor. My friends love him and I personally think he is a tool-oh well. I think Ann may have appeared as over acting because of the stark contrast of her energy with Franco’s lackluster deliveries. Ann seems to be very talented and I am sure she will be collecting an Oscar someday. Hurray for Collin and the King’s Speech. I am so happy for them!!!

So disappointed with Franco usually such a big fan of him he s gorgeous. I thought the intro where him & Anne parodied the nominated films and the bit where he came on stage in drag was so funny. Unfortunately the bits in between he seemed really wooden every time the camera cut to him he seemed stunned like a deer trapped in the headlights. I think he was very nervous bt I dnt know sumthing jst seemed really off. I dnt usually like Ann Hathaway bt I feel like she carried him through the whole ceremony. He also didn’t come across v.well on that interview with e! Either jst fiddling with that phone the whole time. Fair enough e! Can be a bit trashy at times but at least make an effort 4 ur fans. sorry 4 the rant lol
Did anyone comment on Annette Bening’s dress? I thought it looked great on her and she looked great in it. Very becoming and age-appropriate. But good lord, what’s happening to her face? She’s only 52 and she looks like she’s in her mid-60’s.

the whole thing reminded me of doing group projects at school, where there’s always that one person who doesn’t show up, practice, do homework, or anything, and everyone else is bending over backwards t make up for hte deadweight. and then the day of the presentation is disasterous, because they just couldn’t get it together before then. But it was also like watching a show that adults normally do and watching the kids stagger under somethng too much for them…something beyond their abilities. that said, i think Anne could have done the show herself. she seemed more professional at least. Anne and Franco was a BAD pairing. Franco is learning the hard way that he can’t do all that he’s doing and do it well. I wonder if they caved under the pressure ofknowing their peers were watching everything…i mean, Anne’s contemporaries were there…how many of them were bitchily cheering at how bad everything was? Poor thing.

One of the things Franco is famous for is going to school. Not sure about celebitchy but gawker used to have daily and weekly pics of him in school. I heard about him in school before I knew him as an actor.
