I totally squealed a little when Penelope Cruz and Javier Bardem showed up on the red carpet. This was the first time they ever did a big coupley, hand-holdy red carpet appearance, and they were so, so cute. Penelope just had the baby a month ago, and she’s got those gorgeous nursing boobs, and her body looks great. Javier looked very sweet and protective of her too, which I liked. I always enjoy seeing the dynamics of the couple on the red carpet – I thought Penelope seemed kind of shy and looking to Javier to “protect” her and praise her. And Javier looked so proud to have her on his arm. That’s how I’m reading their body language, maybe I’m wrong. Sigh… I love them. I know they’re probably a–holes (by most gossip, they are), but I loved their big red carpet debut together.
Oh, and Penelope’s dress is L’Wren Scott, by the way. I like it! I get the feeling that if you could see it up close, the detailing would be really lovely.
Sidenote: what did you think of Javier’s homoeroticism with Josh Brolin? I loved it! The two of them made me squeal a little too. What is it about Javi and homoerotic fantasies?

Well Penelope Cruz is so beautiful and so close to just giving birth, that I’d give her a pass on any dress she wears. You can tell she still has a bit of a poochy stomach which is so endearing. Unlike those other actresses who starve themselves after giving birth, wear a bikini 1 month afterward with a flat as a board stomach and swear up and down it was only breastfeeding and a bit of yoga that made them loose the weight so fast.
They’re a lovely couple.
I thought her dress was very tacky and cheap looking.
I read somewhere that she wasn’t going to be there, so when I saw her I was soooo excited. I like that she kept it pretty simple and let Javier shine.
BTW, I absolutely loved No Country For Old Men so I am completely fine with whatever kind of bromance Javier and Josh want to have.
They are adorable — she looks fabulous. But I do hope that the baby doesn’t have Javier’s head — of course, if it did, Penelope would still be bedridden!

I loved the dress EXCEPT, when you are bit more busty then you are used to, you HAVE to wear thicker straps.
Other than that, they looked great and sweet.
She is one of the few who could pull off this dress and not have it look like she bought it at the “made in China” knock off store at the mall. Look how comfortable she looks, as if she’s wearing a beach cover up and knocking around the house.
They looked very happy and relaxed which made the hole thing go from trashy to somewhat cute. But still, that dress with her boobs looks tacky to me, she looked somewhat stuffed in it.
I’m not crazy about the dress but I see why she picked it — all the sparkle stuff detracts from her post-baby tummy. Still, she looks great (and so does he even though it looks like he put on a few “sympathy pounds” himself).
I just had a baby 5 months ago and respect the hell out of her that she was walking a red carpet one month post birth. I agree with tango, she definitely still has a little pooch, and her legs even thickened up, but the fact that she actually allowed herself to gain weight throughout her pregnancy makes me love her even more than I already did. She can do no wrong in my book. The dress looked good, but I believe she could have found a dress with a little more fabric in the chichis grande region so it didn’t look so showgirl. Could care less though. Love her and Javi!

they had the baby in the states just to avoid the paparazzi massacre that they would have had in spain. although P.C had followed a fertility program in the Ruber hospital in madrid.

They both looked great, especially for having a 4 week old baby at home. I’m not a huge fan of Penelope but I agree with the poster above that I’m sick of seeing these actresses weeks after giving birth looking skinny and bikini ready and then claiming all they do is breastfeed and excercise, not realistic. I am bummed that they cut out Josh and Javier entering for their presenting duties, apparently they were dancing together. Anybody else hear about this?

eh, I thought the dress detailing looked kinda cheap. almost too Cher/Christina Aguillera singing in a LasVegas hotel. Anyway, she looks good for someone who just had a baby. wrong choice of dress, but props to her for squeezing into the spanx for a lil help.

I thought they looked GREAT on the carpet and she seemed so shy (I would be feeling all kinds of insecure after just having a baby). He seemed very happy to have her by his side as support! I squealed like a little girl when I saw the hand holding – I couldn’t stop myself

What I noticed on the red carpet, was her trying to do standalone picture posing, and he wouldn’t take the hint and step away for it.
I don’t like that dress at all, but Penelope looks so gorgeous as usual, it probably wouldn’t matter what she wore.
I have to confess I don’t think Javier is very good looking but he seems completely over the moon in all these pictures. I’m just glad Penelope decided to go for a Spanish guy, it suits her!
