Britney Spears’ new single, Womanizer, is out

Z100 has Britney Spears’ new single, Womanizer, which was released today. The intro is a little too 80s video game, but the rest of the song is catchy, repetitive, hard-hitting pop music. It’s not my taste but it really grew on me. It’s the kind of song that sticks in your head and that many people can appreciate on some level. The thing is, it’s so remastered it barely sounds like Britney. It’s likely to be a hit for her and it looks like her comeback is well underway.

Britney was spotted out in a black bob wig with bangs yesterday. She was said to be wearing the disguise to shoot the video for Womanizer at a club in LA. According to US Weekly, it predictably involves Britney seducing some guy:

Spears shot a steamy music video for the song at Takami Sushi & Robata Restaurant and Elevate Lounge in L.A. Wednesday.

One witness tells Usmagazine.com it features plenty of “erotic” choreography.

In one scene, Spears (who wears tight, black leather pants and fake tattoos on her arms in the video) lies on a kitchen counter and later straddles and makes out with a man dressed in business suit.

The scene continues with Spears sucking on cherries or dangling them around her mouth, all while straddling and crawling all over the man, the witness says.

“She seems to be all business,” the witness told Us. “She’d just do one thing after another and then on to the next.”

Good job, Britney. Keep focused on your goal and you’ll be back in no time. You may already be here. Just don’t let those stories of a reunion with K-Fed be true.

love ya britney! — keep it up!!! — can’t wait to see the video.

I’m kind of amazed that her video is exactly the same as the rest before she had two kids, got divorced, got fat, and then mentally abducted by a random stranger. Granted she’s coming back from all of that, but still…

I guess it’s for the MTV demographic, but I don’t need to see her licking cherries and jumping around in leather. It just seems silly after what she’s been through. Shouldn’t she move on to a new facet of music? It’s like we’re supposed to forget that the last year+ didn’t take place and she’s the same Britney, oiled up, licking fruit, and ready for the world’s tweens to go crazy.

I don’t know, maybe I’m expecting too much from this situation, but I am I alone in thinking that she is clearly a different woman than before?

Maybe the entire CD will reflect these things.

So don’t watch the video, Jody.

Just because she’s not strapped to a gurney and shaving her head doesn’t mean she’s entirely changed from the person who made hit music before.

She’s no Michelle Branch and isn’t going to be successful as a low key folksy songwriter. She’s doing what she’s going to able to sell.

  4. Enonymous says:

I kind of agree with out Jody, Britney does seem to a little too old for this. However, good on her for trying to improve her life.

Heh, “eighties video game”? I’m there.

It’s a bit like a less-well produced mash up of some of the songs from her Blackout album. And yet it’s still annoyingly catchy.

If the other songs/singles are stronger and album is good I could live with this being a first single but if it’s representitive of the whole sound/direction I’d say not so great. I can easily imagine Fergie singing this, actually.

  6. KERRI says:

Her voice sounds like she just sucked in a lung-full supply of hellium.

    What an annoying song.

And what about that house on Mulholland Drive! Is she buying the house of my dreams or not?? ❗

  7. Hollz says:

I kinda like it…the video didn’t play, so I have no opinion on it. The song seems more fast paced, verbally then her other songs.

    *edit*
I just signed up for that Gravater thing and my picture isn’t showing- does it normally take a bit?

  8. what says:

am i crazy or does that sound NOTHING like her? granted it’s all synthesized but it has absolutely no resemblance to her former synthesized voice?

  9. Jody says:

I’m not saying she needs to take up the mandolin — I just kind of thought she would want to try a different approach, that’s all.

  10. geronimo says:

Hollz – you may need to log off or reboot for it to appear. I had to reboot before mine showed.

    Jody – lol! mandolin!
But I got what you were saying earlier, like her experience should maybe have changed her music style etc, introduced something new to it? This seems like they just want to get her performing and generating money again. It’s so blah I don’t even have an opinion on it.

You are NEVER too old to be sexy! Britney is hot and sexy! Britney sells! She is doing fantastic! BEST WISHES TO BRITNEY! Please Britney remeber this song when SlimFed asks for you back. You deserve better.

Is “less-well” similiar to the word “worse”? Hehe. Sorry I’m snarky today.

  13. Codzilla says:

Forget the video. I’m just shocked that anyone actually listens to Michelle Branch. 😯

  14. stellapurdy says:

I listened to the 1:44 mark and then wanted to violently cram icepicks into my ears

  15. RAN says:

    stellapurdy, you’re a better person than I am… I couldn’t make it past the 25 second mark! 😆

Codzilla, you’re on fire today! Everything you’ve said on all the posts I’ve read has been dead on, hilarious or both! 😀

  16. Kristin says:

yanno maybe its something to go along with the album it is called “CIRCUS” 🙄 buttttttttt you all are right though, sounds a lil funny, but I think I might be gettin it on iTunes 😀

  17. Codzilla says:

RAN: Thanks! Must be something in the water. We have a well, so God knows what seeps in from time to time.

Obviously, Britney basically just talks and they then mesh vocals behind her to make her sound like she is actually singing. In some of her other songs, a least she demonstrated a tad bit of range. It’s pretty obvious that Britney isn’t the one who has been singing her songs throughout her career,(she never sings live). I can always hear at least one other voice mashed up with hers in all of her songs. I enjoy some of them though nonetheless and I definetly am not one to poke fun at her especially with all she is going through.

  19. sam says:

Atleast there is less of that “cat on heat” sound in her voice that there used to be (listen to the intro of oops I did it again. I must confess i really liked her last album.
