Charlie Sheen: “My lawyer wants to take the bullets out of my gun”

charlie13

Not content to simply do endless streaming rants, and photo ops with machetes, and interviews with networks and TMZ, Charlie Sheen also sat down for an interview with Life & Style Magazine, and it made the cover. Charlie’s new shtick is claiming that he’s aware of his own crazy. Hm…

After weeks of erratic behavior, Charlie Sheen finally admits—in an interview with Life & Style—that he’s falling apart.

“I’m really starting to lose my mind,” he confesses to Life & Style. I’m ready to call anyone to help.”

It’s a shocking turnaround —the first sign of vulnerability he’s shown throughout this whole circuslike period. But when estranged wife Brooke Mueller was granted temporary custody of their 2-year-old twins, Max and Bob, it sent Charlie into a tailspin.

“She can’t keep them from me,” Charlie tells Life & Style. “I won’t let her — I’ll do anything to get them back.”

And he’s apparently become so desperate and ravaged by the effects of addiction, his words are becoming more and more frightening.

“I’m really trying to contain myself right now,” Charlie tells Life & Style. “My lawyer wants to come over to my house and take the bullets out of my gun.”

Loved ones fear that having his kids taken away along with the news of being fired from Two and a Half Men could push him over the edge. “It’s crazy over here at the house,” says a source who was with him on March 7, the day the news broke. “Charlie’s losing it. He’s really mad about the show, and dealing with the kids and Brooke is getting to be too much. Charlie is a ticking time bomb, and we all fear he could do something drastic like committing suicide or falling back on hard drugs.”

Another insider agrees, “Anything could happen at any minute. He’s a danger to himself — a really big danger.”

[From Life & Style]

“Charlie is a ticking time bomb, and we all fear he could do something drastic like committing suicide or falling back on hard drugs.” Well, then, why let him have guns? That’s what I don’t understand about this situation – if I was one of the poor bastards around him, I wouldn’t be able to stop from going around his house and collecting all of the knives, guns, pill bottles, bricks of cocaine and machetes. That’s what you do when someone is talking like this. Now, I’m not saying that if Charlie is truly suicidal, he won’t still find a way. People who are really this far gone down their self-destructive paths will always find a way. But I’m still not entirely convinced that this isn’t all an act.

Meanwhile, People Magazine’s cover story focuses on Charlie’s youngest kids, Max and Bob. There are some quotes from “sources” who claim that Charlie loves his kids, and then People reports this: “As defiant – and rambling – as ever, Sheen text messaged PEOPLE in the midst of the latest drama and said, in part, ‘The winds are howling tonight. The gods are hungry. The beast is alive. And awake. And deadly.’” I mean, really.

Also, People Mag says that Rob Lowe is a big contender to replace Charlie in Two & A Half Men. God, I hate Rob Lowe. He sucks the life out of every television series with his too-earnest acting.

Ya know, a 5150 hearing is not all that difficult to win, especially when the evidence of the person’s mental deterioration is national news. I don’t understand why his family hasn’t had him under a 72 hour hold, at a VERY minimum.

  2. LindaR says:

A former girlfriend/hooker/all-around slut was interviewed on Howard Stern and said she and “his friends” used to smuggle him out of hospital/rehab etc. so that his father couldn’t find him and have him formally committed. Nice. Really good friends enabling him for the past 20 some odd years. Imagine living your life knowing that everyone just wants a piece of you and that they will all disappear when the money’s gone.

  3. Hmmm says:

Playing the victim. Boo hoo. You would think that this meth crazed wild man, who continuously utters violent threats, when wielding a machete would capture the cops’ attention. How long till he murders someone? The homicidal ideation is there.

  4. Jackson says:

I wonder in what context these quotes were made. I’m thinking they were made regarding losing his kids (“I’m losing my mind.”) It was just one of the 18 million sentences that he spews every hour. I seriously doubt they came from quiet introspection or even some ‘aha!’ moment he had. The cover makes it seem like they had some big, rational, in-depth interview with him. I seriously doubt that happened. And yeah, if people are so worried about him then go help him and not worry about how it looks or if you piss him off. And whatever you do, don’t help him get his kids back.

  5. Marjalane says:

Yeah, the kind of “friends” Charlie Sheen has aren’t going interrupt the money train for any reason. I also find it EXTREMELY odd that his rants haven’t put him in a 5150. I had a neighbor one time that threatened to kill himself if his wife left him and he got taken away THAT night- and he didn’t own a gun!

  6. Hautie says:

“I hate Rob Lowe. He sucks the life out of every television series with his too-earnest acting.”

    EXACTLY.

Between him and Stamos, neither one of them have had a successful show of their own. And lord knows both have been given numerous opportunities on practically every network.

And besides… Rob Lowe is not the answer. Please CBS don’t do it.

But I am more inclined to watch Stamos. With the sound off. Simply cause he is so pretty. 🙂

I still think CBS should try the show without bringing in anyone else.

Keep the cast intact and have “Charlie” off in rehab/world tour making phone calls home to Alan.

There is no need to add some “older hot guy” to the mix. Give Cryer a chance to carry the show.

  7. Jennifer says:

Damn. I like Rob Lowe. I think he could pull off the job if he was brought onto Two and a Half Men. The acting on that show isn’t stellar to begin with so I can’t see what harm he could possibly do.

  8. Rita says:

Charlie moves at the speed of light. One day it’s “I’m winning, duh” and the next it’s “This straight jacket is too tight, duh”.

He’s Willy Coyote falling off a cliff and it’s a 50/50 chance if he’ll be caught in someone’s net or hit the ground *puffff*.

  9. Melanie says:

Isn’t Rob Lowe a regular cast member on Parks and Recreation? I actually like his character on Parks.

  10. Heather says:

I think it’s relatively easy to replace Charlie on the show. It’s be done before. It’s not exactly Masterpiece Theatre.

  11. Quest says:

Tick-tock Charlie – tick, tock (only a matter of time). It is a sad state and I am truly sad for his family, his kids especailly who deserve better.

  12. dread pirate cuervo says:

I don’t buy this b/c it’s completely at odds with how he’s been acting. But he’s so crazy right now, L&S has nothing to lose by making stuff up. Didn’t Charlie say he had come to some agreement with Brooke re: the twins? I mean, she’s a real live crackhead for goodness sake. It’s not like she’s actually protect the boys if it interferes with her drug money.

  13. brin says:

He’s just like his gun, fully loaded.

  14. Just Sayin says:

“and we all fear he could do something drastic like committing suicide or falling back on hard drugs”

uuummmm – call on line 1. he’s on hard drugs you moron – have you looked at his mouth lately? that’s what happens when “your banging 7 gram rocks and finishing them – because that’s how you roll”

  15. Lindsay says:

The earnestness works well for him on Parks and Recreation and he was pretty good on Brothers and Sisters.

Melanie – (last Parks and Recreation episode spoiler) his character moved to Indianapolis and broke up with Anne so he won’t be a regular anymore 🙁 I really liked him too.

  16. Venus says:

This man has plead no contest to at least one felony & he’s allowed to own guns? CA isn’t the liberal state I thought it was.

But Charlie doesn’t need guns — I’m sure he can just close his eyes & make himself dead.

  17. k says:

@ Venus. Yes, I was wondering who let him purchase guns.

  18. Someone Else says:

    Thank you, Venus.

That would’ve made my day if I hadn’t seen this five minutes earlier.

    http://ffffound.com/image/a26768c271d6200eceea62e4829fd47bceb0f0a9

    I had to share!

  19. TheProcastinator says:

His lawyer should want to do more than take the bullets out of his gun. How about take his gun away from him. How about put Sheen in an asylum so he can get well?

  20. Cherry Rose says:

I thought that Charlie couldn’t legally own a gun?

He could be talking figuratively about it, though with Charlie, you never quite know. I really wouldn’t be surprised if he does have a gun, or even more than one.

Hope those “goddesses” are careful, or they may “accidentally” get shot.

  21. Karen says:

I am so confused about the Brooke Mueller/Charlie Sheen relationship!! Not even two weeks ago, she was photographed along with Charlie’s goddesses (I can’t with that) smiling away as they boarded a private jet and vacationed together to Hawaii/Bahamas or wherever that crazy train was let out. And now she thinks he’s unstable and is suing for custody?? He was ALWAYS unstable! She is unstable!! Can Martin Sheen and his wife step in and raise those kids. It’s not like Martin is working anymore, is he?

  22. tapatio says:

Hey chally all i have is bullets, if you need some lemme know i will deliver, all for free …F yo lawyer, as the especial forces said aim high, just a hair above the ear…..lol.

    BTW FU chally..

  23. Hakura says:

Wonder how much of this big mess is BS. I mean… I just didn’t think he was a good enough actor to pull it off, but who knows?

Like others have mentioned, it just doesn’t make sense that no one has stepped in or taken any action (to prevent him from harming himself or anyone else,) unless this is some huge publicity stunt (or something entirely for Charlie’s amusement/ego trip).

But yes, I see more & more reason to download the ‘block Charlie Sheen’ app someone made for Chrome. xD

  24. Estella says:

In most states, if someone is placed under a restraining order, they are also forced to surrender any guns or weapons. How can Charlie legally possess a handgun when Brooke has an active TRO against him?

Also, Rob Lowe would bore me to death on TAAHM unless he does every episode with his shirt off. Remember when Rob was caught on tape screwing two girls (one or both were underage)? Rob had his own issues with sex and other addictions back in the day. Is acting in the “Charlie Sheen” role a good idea for any addict? Personally, I think they should cast Heather Locklear. That b can save any show – and she’s got a slammin’ new face and bod.

  25. bluhare says:

I read Matt Dillon was one they considered. Now HE could pull it off. Big time.

Lowe’s a pretty boy. So’s Stamos, but I’d vote for him over Lowe.

  26. Hollowdoll says:

They should go all out and get Mickey Rourke.

  27. Gia says:

the really sad thing about this whole situtation is that this guy is screaming for help with his actions/ words and nobody loves or cares about him enough to make the hard decision to come in and have him committed so that he can get better.

  28. The_Porscha says:

If Rob Lowe is as hilarious on that show as he was on Parks & Rec, it should be wayyyy better.

Also, can he even legally own guns? This seems weird.

  29. Venus says:

@Someone Else — thank you for sharing! That made my day too! 🙂

  30. Deven says:

It is not until someone realizes he needs to be involuntarily committed and treated with lithium for his bipolar condition, that he ever has a chance for a real life. He is a sick man acting out his mania. They’ll really have to worry about the bullets when the depression hits. Mania is anger turned inside-out. As manic as he is, his depression will be so much worse for him. He may not make it.

  31. Alexa says:

Anyone could replace CS on 2.5 Men. He’s not the one that makes the show funny. I’d vote for Rob Lowe – YES, eye candy! I’d love him to replace Gnarlie Peen! And as far as Sheen’s children are concerned – the less they are exposed to the sociopathic douchebag that is “Tiger’s Blood and Adonis DNA Charlie Sheen,” the better off they’ll be.

  32. Wiggles says:

Gia – so true. He surrounded himself with users. All they care about are his fame, drugs and money. Through all this crap I keep wondering why his immediate family can’t find it in their hearts to help him – even if he fights them, they still need to step up and show him some kind of direction that isn’t leading to a grave.

  33. Caity says:

This whole Charlie drama now makes me really relook this whole situation:

    http://www.tmz.com/2010/06/15/charlie-sheen-car-over-a-cliff-hollywood-hills-stolen/

Just pray he takes no one with him.

  34. Eden says:

Rob Lowe was amazing on Parks and Rec. and is currently amazing as well on Californication.
Brothers and Sisters sucked after the first season so there really wasn’t any life to suck of it anyway.

I think if they replace him on 2 1/2 men he will go over the edge completely.
If he see’s that the show went on without him and that it will most likely do as well as it had been doing with him on it, his meltdown and attention seeking will hit it’s high (or low).
He has some brilliantly insane wordplay I have to admit but it’s sad to watch him derail so publicly.

  35. Nanea says:

Charlie Sheen – enough drugs, booze, and hookers to kill two and a half men.

Sorry, just had to. I wonder how much longer until this becomes reality.

  36. L says:

@Gia – it’s not always that easy. This entire Charlie situation is very similar to what my family went/is going through with my mother. The mental instability, the drugs, the “enablers,” all of it. We attempted to get her under a 72 hour hold and for many reasons, it did not happen. She manipulated some of her family and what was already an incredibly difficult situation became that much worse. She pitted us (her children, her husband, her close friends – the people who were with her every day) against her enablers and the family she had manipulated into believing she was “fine.” Only, they didn’t know she had canceled her health insurance – stopping all of her medications (bipolar regulating meds included) to pay for her new drug of choice – coke. As soon as she was able to, she took off. I don’t know where she is or who she is with. It’s been a year and a half. Her family no longer speaks to us and it’s terrible. The whole thing sucks.

Also, I had a brief window during the whole 72 hour ordeal that I could have had it done and she called me and BEGGED. Me not to do it and I tearfully caved. It will go down as one of the biggest regrets of my life

But you know? We love her and we really, really did try. Sometimes, you just can’t save someone from themself. I’m not saying that’s what’s going on with Charlie, but maybe his family is feeling the way we felt.

    .

  37. L says:

@wiggles – “Through all this crap I keep wondering why his immediate family can’t find it in their hearts to help him”

To someone going through something similar, this is unfair. For 2 years, I watched my mom spiral. I did everything I could do and it was never enough. The addiction and the ceasing of her medication was just too much. Through much of the worst, I was pregnant and had a 1-year old at home. There came a point in which I could not do it anymore. I was having pre-term contractions and was in and our of the hospital. I had to let her go and focus on the health and well-being of my family. I’ll love her forever and will readily welcome her back when she is making the strides to get herself healthy, but to say that I don’t and didn’t have it my heart to help her is untrue.

  38. wunderkindt says:

I’d like to see Sheen enter ‘Celebrity Rehab’, punch Dr.Drew in the nose, and then wildly wave his machete as the ‘Tigers Blood Forever’ pirate flag gets hoisted up. . . No doubt, with his colors flying high, Charlie will then make John Cryer walk the plank.

  39. Alexa says:

Everyone keeps talking about how “sad” it is that this million-dollar-an-episode sitcom actor is “ill” and in need of medical care. And yes, he may benefit from that. But has anyone ever known someone who was just an a$$hole? Like THAT FACT was what the whole deal is with that person. How about poor Hitler? Did he ever get treatment for his addiction and his obvious mania (bipolar disorder)? No? Poor sick man.

  40. GradStudentEatingHotPockets says:

    @L
Stay strong! I’m sorry you’re going through everything that is happening…it must be extremely difficult.

Before I read your comments I was going to (basically) repost another comment I made in a previous Charlie Sheen post- involuntary commitment is not as “easy” as people think it is. It takes a lot of damning evidence for someone to be committed against their will.
I’m in graduate school for psychology and it bugs me to no end when people either A) don’t acknowledge or believe in mental illness/disorders/disease or its treatment or B)think that it is simple to just get people the help they need

  41. Kim says:

This is the saddest part of his whole ordeal – he is suicidal whether he admits it or not. Everyone is laughing at him but he has a sickness. I feel for his father & kids. So sad. I REALLY hope someone or something gets thru to him before its to late. THIS is a warning call from him that he wants help! He has hit rock bottom & he is starting to realize that which is a good first step to getting recovery he desperately needs.

  42. Kim says:

Charlie is two and 1/2 men. Ill give him that. No one else would be as good in the role because the public has come to associate only Charlie with that role.

  43. Penguin says:

I’m still convinced this is some kind of publicity stunt x

  44. lucy2 says:

I think it’s equal parts genuine crazy and publicity stunt. I think he’s really f’ed up, but now sees all the attention he’s getting and is playing it up.

As far as I know Rob Lowe is still on Parks & Rec, he was made a series regular this year and it would be weird to have that happen for only half the season, wouldn’t it? Unless he tries to get out of his contract. If that happens, that’s OK too, the show would be fine with or without him.
I never liked him before, but have grown to like him on P&R, which was no surprised because I love the show and every character on it.

  45. truthzbetta says:

I’ve never been a fan of his, but his solo work is a hell of a lot better than that network sit-com with two 80’s movie actors.

    This man moves product.

They sell rubber sex dolls in the image of one of his goddesses, and sales have gone through the roof. Upon seeing her own likeness, Bree Olsen said she could not believe the detail, “I’d do me” she squealed.

True story. And I demand he receive just compensation– 3 million dollars and one STD.

  46. Tia C says:

YES! I couldn’t agree more about Rob Lowe! Pretty boy he may still (kinda) be, but he IS way over-earnest in his acting. He was just annoying recently in his stint on Californication.

I hope Charlie gets his shit together.

  47. L says:

Thanks gradstudenteatinghotpockets 🙂 I very rarely post on here, but it’s hard to see the “where is his family?!” type posts without feeling a little defensive. It’s not like we have just sat back and let this happen. My mom was my best friend. I talked to her daily. Then the the spiral started and she changed. I tried to help her… to fix her…but I couldn’t. No one else could either. She wasn’t/isn’t ready. There was nothing we could do to make her “see the light.” Turns out you can’t make someone do anything they don’t want to do…so what is there to do then? That’s here I’m at…and I cannot answer that question.

  48. vanessap says:

Rob Lowe is amazing in Californication and Parks and Recreation. He may have had bad acting in the past but I like him now.

  49. Hakura says:

@Estella“How can Charlie legally possess a handgun when Brooke has an active TRO against him?”

The short answer would be… he can’t. Which means he possibly just made a public statement admitting to possession of an illegal weapon. But he does illegal things in public all the time, & that hasn’t seemed to matter. (Considering he once ‘accidentally’ shot someone in his past, you’d think someone would be all over this situation, especially given how unstable he is.)

@L – I’m so sorry for the incredibly painful situation you’ve gone through with your mother. =( I can’t imagine being put in that position… it’s admirable that you (& your family) tried so hard for her sake, even when it was so difficult. But what you said is true… you can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped. There are all kinds of rules & loopholes pertaining to forced committment (for good reason, of course).

But unfortunately, even when that’s the best thing, said rules can work against those truly attempting to help someone, so I agree that it’s unfair to make a blanket judgment of his family.

  50. Margo says:

Clearly something is going on. It appears he has given up. He is not even editing he says, as most of us do. They need to make sure nothing medical or organic is going on. They need to do a full neurological work up. EEG, brain scan and a blood chemistry, mental testing. Memory testing. Thorough medical history of head trauma, possible seizures. Leave no stone unturned before doing a psychiatric assessment. Sometimes medical conditions like vascular dementia, cognitive problems, behavior problems. can be exacerbated with even one drink. Maybe there are a couple of things going on here. I don’t think they should start throwing around lithium and antipsychotics before they have checked anything else out first. Psychiatrists love to subscribe, and that is not always the best thing to do with behavioral problems. (at least at first) He might be quiet at first, but they might not be getting the correct diagnosis without a thorough medical evaluation. Pray for Charlie.

  51. Hakura says:

I always feel so torn about Charlie. Of course I don’t wish him anything negative… but I have trouble feeling ‘sorry’ for him.

He’s indulged in this sort of hedonist behavior unapologetically, put others down…& been violently abusive (the results of which said women are stuck with for the rest of their lives). As far as he’s concerned, his life has been one big party, but that’s not the way a lot of the people who’ve encountered & had to put up with him have seen it.

His family certainly has my sympathy… But he really doesn’t.

@Truthzbetta“They sell rubber sex dolls in the image of one of his goddesses, and sales have gone through the roof. Upon seeing her own likeness, Bree Olsen said she could not believe the detail, “I’d do me” she squealed.”

Ugh… I did an image search out of morbid curiosity… I so wish I hadn’t. But there were several different options of ‘Bree Olson sex dolls’, so I’m not sure which one you were referring to. >.<

How pathetic does someone have to be to spend $200 on a sex doll/life-like ‘mold’ of some porn star’s hoo-ha….

  52. SolitaryAngel says:
