Sean Penn stars with James Franco and Josh Brolin in Milk, a biopic about the first openly gay man elected to office in San Francisco. Harvey Milk served as the city supervisor in late 1970s San Francisco and campaigned for gay rights. Penn stars as the title character in the film and James Franco is his lover.
Penn’s co-star James Franco said in an interview with Out Magazine that the first person Penn told about his first experience kissing a man, which was supposedly with Franco on the set of the film, was his ex wife Madonna. He claims Penn sent Madonna a text message about the experience and mentioned he thought she might be interested. Madonna and Penn were married for four turbulent years nearly twenty years ago, from 1985 to 1989.
Sean Penn’s “Milk” costar James Franco has further dished about the pair’s lengthy on-screen kiss. Franco told Out magazine, “After our [on-screen] kiss, Sean texted Madonna – his ex-wife, Madonna – and said, ‘I just popped my cherry kissing a guy. I thought of you. I don’t know why‘ . . . There’s a scene in the pool and everybody else is dressed and there’s just something uncomfortable about that.”

The Huffington Post also reminds us of Franco’s remarks about kissing Penn. He described how it took about a minute to film and that it felt like a long time. He said he thought “Oh, my God, I’m kissing Spicoli.”
Franco said in another interview (link leads to video) about his kiss with Penn that “It was amazing, I got to make out with him a few times… it was great.”
What surprises me about this story is that Penn is still in touch with Madonna after nearly twenty years. You would assume those two don’t communicate at all, but he supposedly has her current cell phone number and occasionally contacts her. Who knew?
Here’s the trailer for Milk, which looks Oscar-worthy, incredibly moving and inspirational. The film is out in limited release in the US starting on November 26th.
Wow, this looks like it could be a really good movie. But then again, Penn can do no wrong in my book!
Who cares about Sean Penn???
He’s been kissing Hugo Chavez’s ass for years, this should be a piece of cake for Penn. ๐
Can’t wait for this, Penn is just amazing in the trailer.
Not too surprised re him having Madge’s number – can actually see these two being quite good friends.
Yeah, Geronimo, it does seem logical that they would still talk – but it seems like the effort would be coming from Madonna’s side, doesn’t it?
I mean, she’s the bigger famewhore. She’s the one who seems interested in only having famous friends. Interesting that Sean still reaches out.
But the movie looks good. ๐
Milk Really…Harvey Milk… That can’t be a REAL last name …soooo redundant ๐
I can’t believe how much Sean looks like Harvey in the trailer. His ability to morph into the characters he plays boggles the mind.
Kaiser – Not necessarily close friends or anything, but I can definitely see them being in touch from time to time, like when one of them’s in the news, that sort of thing. Like a kind of slightly ironic friendship? (y’know, now that they’re both all growed up and mature an’ that… ๐ )
This is going to be a very good movie, I can’t wait to see it.I don’t know why I thought that he beat the crap out of Madonna during their relationship ๐ , my mistake
I’d have beaten the crap out of Madonna…
Agent Spicoli, please go back to Iran. You’re much more welcome there.
Unless, of course, you happen to be gay.
I read somewhere Madonna and Penn were too much alike to get along. I think they are both Leos too HA! Talk about butting heads. That says it all.
I have no particular interest in the person he is playing here but damn I might see it anyway. He IS a freaking excellent actor. He might act like an idiot (i.e. televising his efforts in New Orleans after Katrina- that was ridiculous) but he is very talented.
Well at least he kissed James Franco & not Anita Bryant!
Bea: Put “Harvey Milk” into Google and see what comes up. Totally real.
I call bullshit on this story. This message does NOT sound like Penn. The only thing they could have done to make this alleged text sound more fake is if they’d added “OMFG!” to the beginning of it.
Madonna and Sean Penn remind me of the long lived friendship of Cher and Sonny. Who knows maybe Penn might be involved in politics some day. And we all know Madonna will live on forever, just like Cher. It’s great to see a Hollywood relationship not left in vain.
got to love it virgen pussy in your mouth
