A few days ago, Page Six had an exclusive report about the end of Tony Hawk’s third marriage, to Lhoste Merriam. The fact that Tony, 42, was going through his third divorce was not notable, I suppose, except for the little item about his alleged jumpoff: his best friend’s estranged wife, Cathy Goodman. Tony and Matt Goodman have been friends since childhood, and Matt and Cathy were married for something like 20 years. And now Cathy and Tony are dating… sketchy, right? Not according to Matt! He gave an exclusive interview to Radar to explain how he’s totally fine with the situation. Men are so profoundly weird:
Tony Hawk’s best friend Matt Goodman has told RadarOnline.com that he’s “totally cool” with the skateboard legend dating his estranged wife Cathy Goodman. Multi-millionaire Hawk divorced his third wife Lhoste Merriam after embarking on his affair with Cathy. And amazingly, in an exclusive interview with RadarOnline.com, his former business partner Goodman said he bears no grudges.
“I know people will think it is strange but I’m totally cool with it,” Goodman told RadarOnline.com about Hawk dating his wife. “I had split up with Cathy over a year ago and she started dating Tony about seven months ago. I have a new girlfriend now and I hope Tony, Cathy and Lhoste can all be happy. I texted Tony today and we are all trying our best to get along. Our kids are all friendly and we do not want a bad situation – people are making it a bigger deal than it is.”
“I knew Tony was not happy with Lhoste and I hope he finds that (happiness) with Cathy – they have known each other a long time.”
Hawk, who has been married three times, manned up and told his pal that he was seeing the ex.
“He told me about the relationship although I suspected something before that,” Goodman told RadarOnline.com. “Life can be strange but I bear no grudges and just want to move on with my life now.”
Goodman told us that he had filed for divorce from Cathy several months ago and that contrary to reports he is no longer a business partner with Hawk. They parted company in 2002 and he now shoots advertising videos.
The two men have been friends for more than 20 years and were groomsmen at each others weddings.

For the love of…! I honestly think Matt’s well-wishes for Tony and Cathy are contingent upon the timeline. Like, because Matt honestly believes that Tony and Cathy got together only after he and Cathy split, he’s fine with it. What I can’t believe is that is just taking Tony’s version at face-value. Maybe that’s real friendship. Maybe I’m a jaded (pragmatic) bitch. But if you were Matt (or Lhotse), wouldn’t you be sitting there thinking “Hey, I wonder if Tony and Cathy first got together when everybody was still married?” Dudes are so weird.

His friend probably had a girlfriend before he and his wife split, so can’t make a huge deal. Who knows? Or vice versa. The wife split from him because she was secretly involved with Tony.

Hmmmmmm. Things that make you think. I am on the fence about his statement, because the fact that he wished the soon to be ex wife, mistress and Hawk happiness ALL TOGETHER seems sort of sarcastic to me. If that was truly his intent, I am thrilled. It’s almost as though he is saying, ‘yeah good luck to you three with that mess.’
I also think his statement is just for show and is meant to whitewash the situation. The fact that he said he thought something was up between Hawk and the ex-wife, then that later it was confirmed by Hawk?!! Puh-leeze. I am sure that he thought Hawk was sleazy for not giving him a heads up earlier.
Hawk failed the Bros before HOs rule (at least that is how I think Seth Rogen and his crew would see it!) Joking, joking 🙂
I think his attitude is nice. you need to get over yourself when you have kids. Also, since Tony and that woman have known each other for so long, I’m thinking they’re not just “boning”. Or I’m just having a good day.
I think you’ve got their names wrong, Kaiser. Its GOODMAN, not Goldman. And yeah, guys are weird. Matt is probably just happy he won’t have to pay alimony if Tony takes her off his hands. Bros before hoes. Very strange.
It’s only cuz Matt is over Cathy & has a new piece. Bet she’s a younger piece too. And he could be using some reverse psychology on Tony as well.
This is indeed a really weird situation but if they’re all cool with it, who are we to judge? Besides, getting along for the sake of the kids is better than some of the drama-fests we’ve been seeing a lot of these days. And that baby is just precious! What a beautiful face!

Tony Hawk has always been sleazy. He left his first wife for the nanny, had two kids with her, and then left the nanny for his publicist, who became his third wife, now he’s moved on to his friend’s wife. Like I said, he’s a sleaze ball who needs to widen his net. LOL
