These are photos of a Waity-less Prince William in New Zealand this past Friday. William flew solo to do a tour of Australia and New Zealand after they suffered through Cyclone Yasi (in Australia), and the huge February earthquake (in New Zealand). The media referred to this trip as William’s last as a single man – so I guess he doesn’t have any more travel plans for more than a month. The wedding is April 29th, if you’re keeping score.
While he was travels through northern Queensland (Australia), William was overcome by the beauty, the warmth and the sun, and he made what seemed like an off-hand comment about how he and Kate should honeymoon there. So… naturally, Australians are LOSING THEIR MINDS.
He had been in Australia for less than 24 hours, but the soaring temperatures and bright blue skies of far north Queensland didn’t take long to work their charms on Prince William.
After a warm reception during his tour of towns affected by Cyclone Yasi, which roared across the coast last month leaving chaos in its wake, the Prince declared that he could be back in Australia a matter of weeks, this time with Catherine Middleton by his side.
Speaking to well-wishers at a waterfront reception in the northern Queensland tourist town of Cairns, the Prince said he would like to spend his honeymoon in the region and go scuba diving on the Great Barrier Reef.
“I love scuba diving, I have always wanted to dive the barrier reef,” he told Tania Moore, who emigrated to Australia from Winchester ten years ago and had lined up in the balmy evening to meet the Prince.
“It’s much nicer down here, the weather at home is dreadful. I will have to come back, maybe we’ll have a honeymoon in Cairns?” he said to cheers from the crowd.

I think it would be great if Kate and William went to Australia or New Zealand for their honeymoon. They only bad part might be that they might not have as much privacy there, as opposed to maybe honeymooning in Mustique (where the Middleton family vacations regularly) or Scotland (where the Queen owns that huge chunk of land). We’ll see!

lose our minds is correct. my mum absolutely hit the roof and is already talking about, “when will and kate honeymoon i hope they’ll make some of those commemorative plates”…. :/
Katie going down-under for the honeymoon (no puns intended)…sounds a little kinky (adventurous) but fun.
Bad idea! Not because as an Aussie I hate the Royal Family and want to be a republic, etc but it’s true: we love Prince William for his recent visit to Queensland, and his new popularity with us would mean NO privacy for him and Kate. 😀
He used to be so handsome…once
If privacy in Aussie is a problem then go to NZ for most of it. Hit up Qsland for a bit of sun on the way home.
Of course it was probably an offhand remark one might make to ingratiate themselves to their hosts 🙂
If they go to Australia, I’ll eat my hat (and I love hats). It’s only a month away; the plans will have been made. Only way they’re going there is if they were going anyway. It’s a big empty place out of the big cities so they could get privacy.
But Scotland in late April/early May? BRRRRRR
I would hope a honeymoon on a private island is more in line.
Doesn’t Richard Branson have a nice island?
Somewhere sunny, where there are lots of good rum. And a chance of privacy.
how tall is William? and harry?
they look big guys to me.
Thanks for posting the pics from his visit to New Zealand Kaiser 🙂 .
It would be cool if they did have their honeymoon down here in NZ (or Oz). They’d get lots of privacy down here. There are many isolated gorgeous places to stay down here, lots of celebs fly in and out and most of the time us ‘regular’ Kiwis never even know they have been in the country until after they have left lol.
Good call, I have problems believing people don’t want holidays in QLD and NZ… stunning, beautiful places.
It’s been wonderful to see people’s spirits so lifted by his visit here.
