You’ve got to hand it to Courtney Love. She knows how to down-play it, you know? These are photos of Courtney Love briefly reuniting with her band, Hole, last night at the premiere of a documentary called Hit So Hard. The doc was done by Patty Schemel, former drummer of Hole, and the film chronicles Schemel’s drug addictions during the 1990s. So, all of her Hole friends came out, including Courtney. Courtney seemed to know it wasn’t her night. It wasn’t a “throw on a ball gown and try to wrap my legs around every dude I meet” kind of night. Courtney said to herself, “White blouse, black skirt. I’ll be classy with a strand of pearls. Now, let me just add some lipstick. No, I need a bit more. More lipstick. MORE. MOOOORE.” Still, bitch looks subdued.
According to A Socialite Life, the documentary also includes archival footage of Kurt Cobain, because Hole and Nirvana were on the road together and stuff. And Courtney and Kurt, yeah, you get it. I often wonder… what would have happened if Kurt hadn’t killed himself? Do you think he and Courtney would have stuck with their marriage? No, right? He would have left her, she would have left him, and it still would have been cracked-out chaos in which the only true victim is Frances Bean.

She looks bad!!!
She looks better than Linnocent and is twice her age……
OMG! What’s going on with her nose? That things looks broken and one of the nostrils looks weird.
Wow. The other members look like they really haven’t changed and Courtney…she looks like Keith Richards!
Is she too stoned to open her eyes?
Gotta love that clown lipstick effect she has going on. Looks like a little kid drew it on with a red crayon. Yikes!
If Kurt were alive he would’ve left her, took her daughter with him, wrote folk songs, sang with Michael Stipe and Vic Chesnutt. He would have lived a beautiful life.
As for Courtney, well, the only good thing she can do is to dig a hole and hide herself inside it.
Kaiser check out the documentary Kurt & Courtney; it’s a bit of a conspiracy theory movie but it delves into their lifestyle together and separately it’s pretty interesting. I don’t have an opinion of her one way or the other but she did a pretty awesome cover of Fleetwood Mac’s Gold Dust Woman (edit)
lol.
This is what a walking corpse looks like
That is a wig, right? And she can scribble on her lipstick but not draw on a bit of eyebrow?
It’s weird, I used to love Hole. I actually wish Courtney would sort herself out but it’s just never gonna happen is it…
Courtney is only 46/47, and she looks like she’s in her late 50’s.
In that first pic she looks like a hobbit. Yikes.
Songs from Celebrity Skin are still on my playlist, but it seems that the music has held up better than Courtney.
Oh, Courtney. She is such a hot mess, I love her. I kind of like what she is wearing and that she couldn’t really be bothered to put her lip stick on? She’s looking a lot like the rest of the band mates Mother, but oh well, she’s partied pretty hard to get there 🙂
I think Kurt would have been OK eventually but it would have taken alot. He killed himself in part because he didn’t want to divorce Courtney and recreate the same childhood for Francis that he himself had. He also didn’t want to stop taking drugs. You can’t blame Courtney for that she was in rehab at the time of his suicide. She is obviously messed up and a terrible mother but I think Kurt had so many demons that went beyond Courtney. I also think they genuinely did love eachother…Really sad.
Wow, she looks really bad! Her hair is a complete mess and her lipstick looks like a 90 year old person put it on. She still has a great body, but the rest is just f’d up.
That’s Courtney Love!? I thought it was a drunk Meg Ryan at first…eeegh >.<
Edit: Vic Chesnutt is awesome!
She looks better than some of the photos I’ve seen. Still looks better than Lohan…thats not saying alot.
This is the woman who hallucinated that she is a fashion ICON, and everyone should bow to her instinct and taste. Check out her website-something like Whatcourtneywore.com
well… at least eric and madm look fabulous!
She looks like a slightly drunk, 60-something socialite.
Eric never ages. It’s kind of spooky.
It looks like Pas De La Huerta did her make-up. Sheesh.
Hole was awful and solo Cort-Hole was worse. She’s famous because her far more talented husband blew his brains out rather than endure another minute living with the worst mistake he ever made. Courtney couldn’t carry a tune if it had a handle welded onto it. Her whole career is just wandering around in different outfits looking stoned or hammered.
Patty, Melissa and Eric all look good, which is nice to see.
I thought that first photo was Jane Fonda.
JOAN…JOAN RIVERS!
she looks like an extra from michael jackson’s “thriller” video.
Um, why is her nose sliding off her face?! She’s fixed that thing at least 2 times and I don’t remember it ever looking that jacked. What happened???
Sweet Jesus, WTH happen to her face!? She had that one point in her life where she actually looked attractive… good thing there’s pictures to document it or you’d never believe it looking at those pics above!
Oh snap! At first glance I thought it was Florence Henderson in the thumbnail.
florence henderson is in hole??
I was there and she was gracious and kind to her former bandmates. And the movie?!?! A MUST SEE!!! Hope they stop the nonsense and go back to rocking.
Ha Renee! Can we just talk about how effing cute Melissa auf der Mauer’s style is? I want those gloves!
She looks medicated not subdued.
“It’s better to rise than fade away.”
Did you forget this Courtney?
Courtney is a freaking train wreck. Substance abuse and plastic surgery nightmare. Sorry, can’t give her any props.
Well, Eric and Patty and Melissa look freaking fantastic. Partly because they look 20 years younger than Courtney. I will continue listening to the first few years of Hole’s music, but I am starting to wish that events would put that shambles out of her misery. Maybe then, Frances could grieve, and learn to focus on the good times, and start to heal from what’s been done to her.
that looks like a madame tussaud figurine of courtney love that came to life!
Melissa auf der Maur has her shit together. That’s all I care about.
she’s a train wreck. that make up looks like it came from a bad zombie movie but i can’t hate this woman. i love her.
hole is one of my favorite bands and i don’t care what others say.=)
everybody says she’s a terrible mom but we don’t see francis on the news everyday doing crazy things and from what i read from court’s mom herself she wasn’t the greatest mom ever. so it’s like courtney didn’t know better. i know that’s not an excuse but some people just can’t or don’t know how to do better than their parents did.
and i don’t think half of us would be alive if we had the lifestyle she had.
Yeah, she looks pretty messed up but she doesn’t look 60. Check out 60 guys…that’s right, MUCH older looking than this ok? You’re just being mean. In fact she looks kinda good for 46/47 to be honest. A bit too much dodgy work on the nose maybe and really really bad makeup but she just looks her age. Maybe younger. You young guys don’t really know what 40+ looks like. It looks like your Mom. Now look at Courtney again..not so bad hey?
@vicki – lmao, a totally baked florence henderson no less, can she still play anything and sing?
Her lipstick is telling: She’s too drunk or too stoned to color inside the lines.
That dude Eric went out with Drew Barrymore, right?
Did she break her nose?
yep, she looks like the walking dead!
The lipstick looks kinda like the joker off of batman.
Hey lay off the ‘late 50’s’ look thing. that’s my age and i look a THOUSAND times younger than she does.
and if she’s going for the corpse look, she nailed it. the clown lipstick is just icing on the cake
Is it just me, or does it look like she has a white substance in her nostril in the 1st pic?
I hope not. I hope she’s just on anit-depressants; if anything!
I may be in the minority, but I’ve always like C Love. Batshit crazy or not. Something about her I admire.
I love Hole and Courtney Love. Hole ROCKED! Despite her craziness, self-destruction, inappropriateness and inexplicable hijinks, Courtney has earned my respect because she is brave enough to be exactly who she is at all times, regardless of public opinion or criticism. She doesn’t care what any of us think, which is so rare. Viva la Courtney!!
I loooooved Hole although they were on my radar because of her affiliation with Kurt, “Live Through This” and “Celebrity Skin” were awesome records. Courtney is koo koo for cocoa puffs but that bitch knows how to put a band together and rock out when she has her sh*it (relatively) together. Patty looks freaking fantastic despite her addiction problems and I adore Melissa. [reaching for iPod to play some Hole]
She looks like Florence Henderson.
Live Through This is the definitive female-led grunge album of the 90’s. I give Courtney a wide berth for most of her bullshit on credit of that album alone.
*sigh* Love me some Hole.
Live Through This was written by Kurt so yeah, that was a great album. Just listen to her earlier albums like Pretty On The Inside and you’ll hear a completely different style and structure which shows what she can actually write (ramshackle noises overlaced with yeowling shock value lyrics, such as the song “When I Was A Teenage Whore”). Even her early musical work was said to have been a copy of her ex-friend Kat Bjelland of Babes and Toyland and Courtney ripped off her “kinder-whore” style of babydoll dress and ultra bleached hair from her. She has made a career of using other people from Kat, to Kurt, to Billy Corgan.
I was a huge fan. I’m not anymore.
marie is right about how Courtney used Kat. It went beyond the appearance thing, it was musical too. But I don’t think Kurt wrote LTT, I think it’s a good album that Eric and Courtney wrote, and that first album (Pretty on the Inside) with Teenage Whore and all is my favorite. It’s not that hipster crap where their first album is somehow sacrosanct to me; I genuinely love the thing. And I listen to the later releases of other old stuff. And she was amazing in The People Vs Larry Flynt. She has at times been a valid artist, worth my time, and I’ll keep enjoying her art that is valid.
Really great! Thanks for this article… it really hit home. I love blogging!
