Miley Cyrus claims she was misquoted about her disrespect of YouTube stars

wenn3278919-1

Last week, Miley Cyrus got on her soapbox and declared that “It should be harder to be an artist. You shouldn’t just be able to put a song on YouTube and go out on tour.” Miley was criticizing the Rebecca Blacks of the world, and although I kind of thought Miley had a point (it really should be harder to be an “artist”), Miley is not the right person to make that point, considering she got her start on The Mullet’s coattails. If you want to read Miley’s original comments, go here. I think they speak for themselves, but after Miley was criticized soundly for the interview, she quickly took it back. But it’s not her fault! She was “misquoted.”

Is Miley Cyrus seriously hating on “Friday” singer Rebecca Black? Earlier this week, the Hannah Montana star had some less-than-encouraging words for viral video insta-artists like Black.

Well, we just chatted with Cyrus at the Kids’ Choice Awards in L.A. and she wants everyone to know how she really feels about the YouTube sensation…

“I am a fan of Rebecca Black,” Cyrus assured us earlier today. “I love Rebecca Black. I just got misquoted. I think she’s great.”

The 18-year-old starlet is such a fan we may even be seeing a Miley rendition of Black’s hit song in the near future.

“I actually have this really embarrassing video that my sister has on her phone,” she says, “and I’m just waiting till the day that she puts it on YouTube. It’s me driving, singing Rebecca Black and my hands are not always on the wheel while I’m singing the song. Not so good.”

As for her relationship status (we had to ask), Cyrus played very coy about rumored rekindled flame Liam Hemsworth. When asked if she’s currently single, Cyrus smiled, “Maybe, maybe not. It’s a question mark.”

[From E! News]

So now we know. Miley isn’t an oblivious bitch! Or she is oblivious as to how hypocritical she sounded, and she just decided to blame it on someone else.

In other Miley news, there’s now an unauthorized Miley sex doll with… ugh… “three achey love holes”. Miley is pissed about it and she’s making suing noises although the makers of the “Finally Miley” sex doll (which sold out in less than 48 hours) say that they haven’t received a cease and desist letter YET.

I’m not usually a fan of her fashion choices, but I do like that dress.

  2. meg says:

I agree with Miley. YouTube makes it so easy for people to become famous. Riding off a parent’s fame is WAY harder.

  3. Delta Juliet says:

OMG…the story of the sex doll is disturbing…to say the least.

  4. Trey says:

It’s a bitchy, shallow comment, but I really wish she would close her mouth more 🙁

  5. almond says:

Even with all that make up and hair styling she’s still not even passably pretty. Ugh.

  6. Quest says:

I’m feeling to knock my head against a rock after reading this post.

They even priced the doll at approx 27-28 bucks…disturbing

  7. crazydaisy says:

I thought you said her comments squeak for themselves, lol.

  8. Ms. Candy says:

@meg: I agree with Ur comment.

What people fail to understand when you ride your parents coat tail you have to show that you have just as much talent or more talent. They have to constantly stay proving themselves in the eyes of the viewers/media…

As far as youtube artist well yes it is a good platform but there are who don’t you tube at all therefore I stand by this YOUTUBE Can’t be the only form of getting signed.

  9. Amea says:

    Three achy love holes?

    Achy-breaky love holes?

    It’s a Mullet Conspiracy!

  10. serena says:

I love that hair colour on her, and the dress is pretty decent. ANyway she’s really an hypocrite.. and about her status I don’t know..is she back with Liam and why? Poor guy..doesn’t he have enough?

  11. jover says:

Little chipmunk face is doing anything to stay relevant – funny, she (her team) came out with a cd last year and she didn’t even tour to promote it because she must know no one wants to see her attempt to sing; could she even put on an interesting reality show?

  12. Muffy says:

They refer to her as a starlet, a starlet? How is she a starlet? What movie did she “star” in. Young Elizabeth Taylor was a starlet, she is a nothing! And were it not for her father I highly doubt her “talent” would ever have been discovered.

  13. Yasmine says:

    She looks like a chipmunk…

  14. Franny says:

I agree with the comment, not the source. My daughter aspires to be an actress/singer. She is 17 and is working so hard at perfecting her craft. She takes any and all acting classes available to her, takes guitar and voice lessons, and performs locally whenever she can. She doesn’t make YouTube videos…she’d rather go out and perform live in local coffee shops and even in the park! LOL I’m so proud of her, and I know if she ever makes it big, she will have lots of interesting stories to tell about her journey. But we live in an age where hard work, grit and determination just don’t account for much. Instant stardom is valued a lot more nowadays.

  15. Tiffany says:

So I guess we have to endure more ‘misquotes’ from her in the future. GREAT!!!

  16. The Bobster says:

    __________

I know I’d keep a rag stuffed in one of those holes all the time.

  17. TxGal says:

    I can’t stand this dimwit.

  18. Aqua says:

Since when did it become fashionable to be misquoted or is it because of some sort of backlash. Whatever the reason is I’m sick and tired of the Celebrity Misquote.

  19. lucy2 says:

How was she misquoted? If she didn’t say it that’s one thing, but it seems pretty clear to me what she was saying. Ah well, who really cares?

As for the doll thing, she really should sue, that’s just wrong.

  20. Hakura says:

Re: Youtube – Many people become ‘famous’ for absolutely nothing via youtube, yes. But that doesn’t mean everyone who’s discovered there are talentless fads.

I don’t think there’s anything wrong with an aspiring artist taking advantage of the tools at their disposal to further their career. Youtube gives an average person the
opportunity to reach a huge audience/potential fan base that they couldn’t have otherwise. They can promote themselves the way a manager/record label would.
    ——————-
Ugh. The sex doll… Can you imagine? It’s disgusting enough to know that your ‘pictures’ are being used for… ‘gratification’ by some random perv… But this monstrosity? *shudder*

Can she actually sue over that? I mean, it’s obvious to everyone it’s supposed to be her, but I don’t know the legal rules on that sort of thing.

  21. Caz says:

Agree with #18 (sorry can’t see your name). Celebs talk nonsense, they get called out on it or the public & media don’t react as planned and the PR spin is then put out as “misquoted”. Yeah right. Misquote has as much credibility as “amicable split. A & B love and respect each other. Please respect our privacy”.
