Pregnant mom Kate Hudson is currently in Brazil with her boyfriend, Muse frontman Matthew Bellamy, while his band is on tour in South America. As PopSugar reports, she’s expected to return stateside soon to promote her latest POS romcom Something Borrowed, out May 6. Then we’ll be hearing much more from her. The Daily Mail has some quotes Kate gave to British TV host Graham Norton about her pregnancy and whether she has plans to marry Bellamy. She sounds pretty sensible about the whole thing and says that marriage isn’t “necessary” and “I just want to be happy.” These quotes may not be new but they’re new to me.
Kate and 32-year-old Matt have not revealed the sex of their impending arrival, but the actress says she is enjoying watching her body change through pregnancy.
In a recent interview with BBC programme The Graham Norton Show, Kate joked: ‘I’m just starting to pop!’
We have a couple of names but we’re not telling anyone. People tell you so much (about being pregnant) it drives me nuts.’
‘It feels like a girl, but I don’t know. Ryder (my son) thinks it’s a girl.’
But while the couple are starting a family together, Hudson insisted they weren’t rushing down the aisle.
She explained: ‘No, no, not that I know of! I don’t like putting that sort of pressure on it and I don’t feel it necessary to get married.
‘I am 31, I already have one child and have had one divorce so it is not necessarily the golden ticket. I just want to be happy.’

Kate has had her share of short-lived romances, but I hope this one works out for her. I wouldn’t have been as nice last week when those photos came out of her sipping wine while she was pregnant. I think I would have taken the passive aggressive stance described in this Today Show article. “Maybe it’s alright for her, but I wouldn’t have dared.” Then again, she could have just been having a Pepsi.

while she’s traveling with her man and being a groupie, where’s her son and doesn’t he need to go to school, or is that above her?
Drinking while pregnant. What a pig. With all the info out there about that, she should know better. It’s only 9 months of your life that you give it up. How selfish.
Getting drunk while pregnant is absolutely unhealthy but in general there is nothing wrong with having an occasional glass of wine while pregnant. In Europe I don’t think there is as much of a taboo against it.
Why is she’s traveling after him like a lost puppy their something a little sad about it.
We don’t know what was in that glass. And even if it was wine it’s her bloody body.
@ daisydoodle (great name!)
She always seems to be out chasing tail and introducing her son to new father figures. I often wondered if her son shouldn’t just live with his dad who seems much more stable.
That is a fug dress!
Having a glass of wine is fine. I had gone out for drinks twice before I knew I was pregnant and got really upset after I found out I was, and I talked to my doctor and she said it isn’t drinking a small amount it is drinking often that creates problems (she didn’t say how much at one time, just doing it day after day, or something close). Once I found out, I had one glass of wine on two separate occaisions, and I don’t care what any of you bitches think. My daughter was born at 9 pounds 5 ounces and is smarter than I could have ever expected. She is six months old and sits up by herself, crawls, stands up in her crib, feeds herself bottles, and baby talks up a storm, among other things!
I wish her the best. I think she looks beautiful! Love her dress
Unbelievable, all the judgment. So what if she’s traveling with her mate to some of his shows. They’re a couple. And there is nothing to show she’s a bad mother. I always see tons of photos with her with her son. And she and her ex seem to do a very good job co-parenting and getting along. I work in divorce court and the hell people put their children through is mindblowing, just because they hate each other and drag the children into it.
I like her. She’s not the best actress. As far as wine, I’ve always read a little bit of wine is not harmful to the baby. I never drank during pregnancy, but I am not judging her over a little wine. I do hope she’s not smoking like a fiend, like so many women do when pregnant.
ugh on her guy. what a really lousy body he has (thin chest/soft middle–shudder). and he doesn’t even disguise it well. those striped pants and that v-necked shirt are borderline horrific.
Sometimes problems in babies whose mothers drink in moderation during pregnancy don’t show up til later in a child’s life, like the teen years. Sometimes these kids go onto develop their own addiction problems, or endocrine problems like diabetes. This happens in cases where the mother occasionally enjoys a glass or two of wine during pregnancy. So yeah, better to be cautious.

Really? I’d like to see the link to this research.
This site has some of the most dreadful comments out there on the web. Basically, your comments say so much more about your own character than the person you are commenting on.
Let her have a glass of wine with her lunch, geezz. You’d think from all the judgey outrage that Kate was caught chugging whiskey and huffing glue.
OK first of all, the Norton interview was months ago – back when she actually was just starting to pop. She’s like way popped now. Which is nice.
I’m not interested in debating science and doctor’s advice on a gossip site. My only comment is that at 4.5 months, I don’t feel deprived by the lack of wine or whiskey, but goddamnit, I would kill for a beer.
So sweet
Can we please start treating pregnant women like adult people with the ability to choose instead of baby-incubators who society has a duty to police?
While binge drinking during pregnancy is well established to be harmful, moderate drinking (defined as 2 drinks/week to 2 drinks/day – NOT a single glass now and then) is considered pretty safe.
In fact, for those of you who like numbers (like me), the odds ratio shows that the relative risk is only 1.01. http://www.aim-digest.com/gateway/pages/women/articles/preg2.htm
So, for the sake of easy math, if we assume that the risk of fetal damage is 1% in complete abstainers, that means 100 fetal malformations per 10,000 pregnancies. Which you can compare to 101 malformations in moderate drinkers.
While obviously, if there is a risk factor completely within your behavioural control, why play with fire… Can we please stop acting like a drink at dinner = instant death/bad mothering?
Sooo, she’s had a load of boyfriends and never gotten pregnant (aside from with her husband). But NOW she gets pregnant? Hmmm. Don’t get it.
@ KitchenDancer- ITA. Couldn’t have said it better!
What’s not to get about her getting pregnant? She’s always said she wants more kids, and these 2 have been really into each other from day 1, practically inseparable. These photos don’t prove it b/c they have a mob of paps on them, but they both seem happy. Deal with it.
So much money, so little taste in clothing.
Hey, I know that dress! It’s from an affordable brand called Something Else.
Thank you for the stats, KitchenDancer. I am 37 weeks this Wednesday & have had the occasional glass of wine during my pregnancy (like *maybe* 2 a month) & my midwives said there is absolutely nothing wrong with it. It always takes me aback that the IS is so puritanical about somethings…
In my country drinking while pregnant is considered an absolute no no. Literature I read said there is no known safe level of alcohol for a pregnant woman to take in. I have also read that the baby can be affected by a tiny amount. I did miss wine a little while pregnant, but decided it was best to leave it. I agree with KitchenDancer that women are not just baby incubators, and can make their own decisions. Kate is a big girl, and it’s her baby and her life.
@KitchenDancer
*claps*
Then again she could have just been having a Pepsi- Caffeine and preggers are a huge no no
Sue, she does this with every guy she dates. and i don’t know which is worse, leaving her son behind so that she can play groupie, or dragging her son along and introducing him to every new guy.
No safe alcohol levels during pregnancy:

@ Amanda … what don’t you get? She got pregnant once, and now she’s pregnant again. Either the condom broke, or she went off birth control, or she decided to do it on purpose.
she has awful taste in men. Ryder turned out pretty cute though.
I think it’s great she is touring with him. She can’t get many/any roles while pregnant. Too many celeb couple spend months apart doing their own thing which is why their relationships fall apart.
@ KitchenDancer – well said!!
I’m four months pregnant and the general consensus over here (UK) is that it’s fine to have a glass of wine or two every now and again. I’ve drunk on three or four occasions (two glasses of champagne to celebrate, half a glass of cider on Friday night because the sun was shining and I was out with friends, etc). Just don’t get p*ssed, don’t smoke and don’t do drugs. None of which I have any intention of doing – in fact, I gave up my pack-of-ciggies-a-day addiction for this very reason.
Any sensible, reasonable woman should know this. If my pregnancy has taught me anything, it’s that you shouldn’t assume intelligent, educated women won’t be as judgmental and reactionary as the rest of the morons out there.

*standing ovation*
I couldn’t agree more!
I’ve always thought she is just the cutest thing. I think she’s stuck on her self and all her wonderfulness, but I think she’s also probably a very genuine, sweet person. I want her to be happy, so yay Kate 🙂
I know that drinking occasionally while pregnant isn’t harmful to the baby, so I don’t judge women who do it.
I think if I ever got knocked up, God forbid, I would be too paranoid to have even a sip. I’m pretty sure that I’d be the pregnant girl who would knock my bump against a corner or something and convince myself that I gave my baby brain damage.
