Monroe’s marriage certificate from her 1954 wedding to Jow DiMaggio is up for auction.
It is expected to go for $10,000 to $15,000. One of Monroe’s telgrams to DiMaggio asking for a reconciliation is also on the block:
But the most expensive items are likely to be Monroe’s old passport and a tattered love letter from Monroe that DiMaggio kept in his wallet until his death – both are expected to fetch upwards of $30,000. The letter, signed Mrs. J.P. DiMaggio, concludes with Monroe promising to be “your wife for life.”
That’s rather sweet and tragic.
