I’ve been watching DWTS occasionally. It can be entertaining and I like that I can watch it with my kid around, unlike all those forensic science shows and some of the drama that I love, which has adult themes. (Parenthood finale airs tonight on NBC!). They do drag it out forever like they do with American Idol, though. (I don’t know what my problem is, but I feel like I’ll missing something whenever I fast forward.) My favorite contestant is Hines Ward as he’s so personable and has great moves. Ralph Macchio is a close second for me, but there are a lot of great contestants this year. They got rid of the people who were struggling and are now left with some very strong contenders.
Kirstie Alley has actually been holding her own despite some minor setbacks and she can really dance. She’s also surprisingly likable, hasn’t been pulling faces and is putting in some obvious hard work. I thought she’d have issues with people since she’s always getting her hackles raised when people question that cult she belongs to, but that hasn’t been the case and instead she’s tried to distance herself from Scientology recently.
That didn’t stop Kirstie from calling in her good buddy and fellow Scientologist John Travolta to lend her some dancing support. Travolta made an appearance during a taped dance rehearsal segment, and he told Kirstie that she needed to switch up the footwear (she lost a shoe last week) and start up a romance with Maksim. It was kind of cute, and it makes you wonder if Travolta will be on the show at some point. You know that they would love to have him.
E! Online had the clip video of Travolta’s guest appearance (above) and they also have a very thorough recap of the show last night and the current scores. My guess is that Kendra Wilkinson is going to be the next to go, and she seems to know it because she’s been particularly defensive lately. Kirstie might make it to the top five, but I don’t see her in the top three. Still, this stint has really improved her public image and rightfully so. She’s earned it. She doesn’t need to bring in her cult buddies to boost her popularity, though.
Oh and remember how Kirstie said she wasn’t going to beg for votes at all? She told TV Guide “I don’t want to do the finger telephone …and go, ‘Call, call.’ I don’t like the prayer hands.. I’d rather be voted off than beg to be voted for.” She’s not above asking her friends for help or carrying a sign for the paparazzi as you can see below.
I also have to say something about Kirstie’s ridiculous bright blue pantsuit outfit with the cutout bedazzled sheer fabric over the tummy and the the giant black belt. What were they thinking? Did Maks take off his shirt just to distract from that outfit?

I agree Kaiser, she does come across as very likable on the show. But then again, Kirstie always had the “fun” personality going for her.
Can’t see the first videooo!!!!!!!!!!!
My favorites are Hines, Chris, Romeo, Ralph and Kristie (written in no particular order).
Kristie and Max impressed me from day one although I wish they would give her some more likable outfits to wear for the routines.
ahhhh, they should do a new ‘look who’s talking’ movie.
Whatever it takes for Maks to take off his shirt…whatever it takes.
I can’t stand her and don’t buy her nice-person act. The NE ran a recent story about her refusing to turn her cell phone off at a Pacino movie despite Pacino asking all movie goers to do so. First it was Travolta’s beard then Travolta himself, trying to hype Kirstie, which is really hyping Scientology. I stopped watching this season because I can’t stand her.
I totally agree about the ugly pantsuit. I told my husband that they seem to be intentionally trying to make her look ridiculous.
I totally love Kirstie, and she can look dynamite when she dresses in styles that are flattering. Instead, the costume designers seem to be consistently pointing up what might be called her worst features. And all I mean by that is…we all dress to de-emphasize certain body parts and emphasize others, based on cultural norms. Instead, they are doing the opposite.
Kazoo… LMFAO!!
Ive always liked Kirstie Alley.
The outfit was horrendous, but she was brave to bare her tummy like that. Points for courage!
She grates on you every once in awhile, and can be a bit whiny at times (in practice clips with Maks) but overall, she’s come off much better than I expected. And I do appreciate her restraint on the ‘phone fingers and prayer hands’ — I hate it when the dancers and stars do that…as well as the silly mugging bits before the commercial breaks. And I love when Brooke asks a stupid question (almost always) and Kirstie sidesteps her or changes the subject. She’s been okay! And I know this is unrelated, but Petra Nemcova, aside from her utter gorgeousness, has to be the sweetest star they’ve ever had on the show — she is so nice.
I really thought Kirstie was gonna be awful on DWTS. It has been nice to be proven wrong:) That blue outfit was hideous, but once Maks took off his shirt I no longer noticed her outfit! Well played,Maks, well played!
BTW…even though she is overweight, she looks and moves fabulously for someone who is 60!! I still find that hard to believe.
I don’t give a crap why Maks took off his shirt; I’m just happy that he did!
Wow, what an ugly costume! She has a pretty sexy figure IMO and the designers seem to have no idea how to dress her.
John Travolta visits his best overweight, funny hag pal at her sparkly dance off.
NOTHING gay to see here. Move along naysayers, move along.
Flush that blue monstrosity down the turlit! Plz!!!
the words GAY came to my mind.
She looks pretty good out there. Yes that is a horrible outfit. I will always want good things for Kirstie despite her cult involvement, because a) when I was prepubescent I loved both leading ladies of Cheers, and b) her performance in Drop Dead Gorgeous was made of So. Much. Awesome.
