Kate Middleton debuts her second McQueen wedding frock: cute or meh?

fp_7235620_barm_wedding_reception_03_06

You thought it was done, didn’t you? Ha! It’s not over. It shall never be over. We shall change the name of the site to DuchessOfCrumpetsBitchy, and we shall only cover Catherine Middleton, Forever. Or maybe this is all just the sleep deprivation talking…?

Anyway, these are some new photos – the pics of Catherine in a new white dress, her second Sarah Burton for McQueen gown of the day. This is what Kate wore (is currently wearing?) for the evening wedding festivities. I like everything from the waist up. The bust of the dress is beautiful and structured, and I adore the fuzzy cardigan. The skirt, however… eh. I mean, it’s not my taste. It looks cute on her. Look how itty-bitty her waist is. The Duchess of Diets!

fp_7235377_barm_wedding_reception_00_06

I kind of adore Camilla’s blue frock. I would totally wear that. I love the color and it looks really comfortable.

fp_7235378_barm_wedding_reception_01_06

You know what? I have no idea what Prince Charles is explaining to William, AND I DON’T WANT TO KNOW.

fp_7235621_barm_wedding_reception_04_06

And here are some cute photos from earlier today, when Kate and Will left Buckingham Palace in a snazzy Aston Martin. Double-Oh-Royal-Wedding-Dong.

    gorgeous!

  2. Dea says:

It looks like a little bit of a manikin but I still like it. The other one was much much classier. She really has lost so much weight since last year. You can see only veins in her hands like Angelina.

  3. Judy says:

    Stunning! A true Princess (Duchess).

  4. WOM says:

Dress is lovely. Don’t care for the shrug made from Muppet fur. But that’s just me.

  5. orion70 says:

She kind of looks like she’s afraid to touch it, the way she’s holding her arms. I quite like the dress though.

Wish William wasn’t dressed exactly as his father, and maybe wore a more updated look.

  6. sandip says:

she is beautiful. this dress and the wedding dress are very classy. The fabric of this dress is amazing.

  7. Amy says:

Love it. It’s something I totally would wear! (to my own wedding I’m not sure) But I’m all into the simple, classic lines. No frills or ridiculous bows or what not and poofy skirts for me, which is why I love Kate’s style so much.

And er not a fan of Camilla’s dress, it just looks like a super long night gown to me… I liked what she wore to the wedding though.

Oh and I missed the car part!! What fun! I wonder if that was planned in advance or if the royal family surprised them with it? That must have been a treat for people still outside! These two really don’t stick to tradition do they??

  8. OtherChris says:

Probably anything she wore after that beautiful dress earlier would be a let down. I have to second not loving the shrug, but I do love the hair. She just has gorgeous hair.

  9. wunderkindt says:

    Kate looks fab!

But that old hag in blue? They should have shoved her into the back of a broom closet !

  10. Enny says:

Love how they pimped out their ride with balloons! How quaint, not stuffy and sweet! Kate is so skinny. I heard the whispers that she was getting too thin, but that is almost Barbie doll-esque.

  11. jdao says:

    love

  12. liv says:

why bother wearing mcqueen when nothing about the dresses say anything about the mcqueen aesthetics. i’m not saying she doesn’t look fine – she does – but ANY designer could have made the dresses

  13. lin234 says:

This dress would be better if the boob area was smoother and better rounded – if there was better support up there. That area sags in and is a bit wrinkled from whatever she has underneath but other than that area this dress is pretty. The cardigan makes it look a lot more casual and fun.

  14. eugene says:

    not cute…………GORGEOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

  15. Kloops says:

I think all this wedding brouhaha is melting my icy cold heart. I should hate this weird muppet homage, but I don’t. Giving Duchess McRaccoon Eyes a pass.

  16. mauibound says:

    beautiful, classy all the way

  17. Snappyfish says:

Just like Lee (Alexander McQueen) Sarah Burton can cut a dress!! He was know for his flawless fit & Sarah’s on both of these dresses is just artwork.

I hope she stays at McQueen & doesn’t head for Dior (they want her as Galliano’s replacement)

As for HRH The Duchess of Cambridge, she has looked amazing the whole of this day. She was simply gorgeous. Well done.

(liked Camilla’s shade of blue, as well)

  18. Cheyenne says:

Not too crazy about the shrug but the dress is lovely.

What wunderkindt said. Why did that festering eyesore have to get into the picture at all? Talk about tore up from the floor up…

  19. Cheyenne says:

@Amy: Charles’s brothers did the same thing to his car after his wedding to Diana.

  20. Mairead says:

Not really a fan of this gúna. It would suit someone a little larger I think, and whatever is happening to her bosoms is very distracting. It’s an adorable little cardi though.

I’m loving the cornflower/cobalty-blue of Camilla’s frock though. It’s a little 1970s ashram, but I think it suits her.

Actually, I also think Charles’ tux is a little more dapper – the patterned kerchief and satin detail on the trouser leg adds a bit of interest.

  21. wenderwoman says:

    I think she looks beautiful.

  22. gamblea says:

    ah there’s the engagement ring.

  23. mexican girl says:

i love her, im fascinated by all of this, apart from politics and stuff, i have 2 young daughters, so everything for me right now is about princesses and princes, so for me right now is like a real fairytale, hahahaha

just one thing I COMPLETELY HATE THE HAIR!!!!!!! it looks so dirty, greasy and.. and… ugh

  24. whitedaisy says:

    lin234 that.

The dart in the bust is too low and there are too many angles in this area.
    Otherwise lovely.

    Camilla? Hausfrau muumuu.

  25. CG says:

I’m not a huge fan of the second dress. And I think she went overboard with having sweetheart necklines on both dresses.

  26. ZenB says:

Is HRH the Queen B making Katie cover her arms? This is the second gorgeous sleeveless McQueen (Burton) that she has mocked by putting on sleeves… yeah I thought the wedding dress should have been strapless.

  27. Kiska says:

Stunning!! I envy her tiny little waist. Wills is a lucky man.

  28. stephanie says:

I just LOVE this one. so simple and classy. Though her boobs are very pointy, in both this dress and the other one. Not mad about the cardi, but I guess she can’t bare those shoulders to the Royalty, everyone would be shocked.

Camilla’s frock looks like a housecoat!

  29. Pose83 says:

How is no one commenting that she is WAY TOO THIN?!

I get that weddings can be stressful and all that, but she could have whatever nutritionalist she wanted to hand and other than not setting a good example, I don’t think she looks her best this skinny.

Hopefully she’ll hit the canapes hard and then maybe some bacon butties at Harry’s Survivors Breakfast.

  30. Brisbanegirl says:

I think she looked amazing in both dresses. But distracted by the nipples, both dresses looked like she was on high beam.

  31. Lee says:

Wow. Simply stunning outfit. I love the fabric and the cut of the dress, as well as softness of the shrug. She looks so beautiful.

Can’t believe how thin she’s gotten (!), but stress (even happy stress) will do that to an ectomorph. I highly doubt there has been any dieting.

  32. GraciexDoes says:

I think the boobage area could have been a much smoother fit. These are top notch designers after all.

  33. irishserra says:

I love the dress and I think she looks lovely in it.

  34. nina says:

I like it alright from the side but even then, I’m just not excited about the skirt. I would have preferred to see a dress silhouette similar to what Pippa wore as bridesmaid. This .. it’s too flouncy. It’s like something her 8-year old self would imagine wearing to her wedding.

  35. islandgirl says:

Oh no, i didn’t notice as much in the first dress but she really is painfully, horribly thin! Look at her knuckles in the first 2 pictures and her waist/hip bones in the third (with Camilla). Not a good look. And her boobs look weird and pointy because she has dieted them away and her structured wedding underwear is empty 🙁

  36. kazoo says:

@live, yes yes yes. it’s not REALLY mcqueen. either design. lovely, but like you said, anyone could have made them.

  37. curmudgeon says:

Its a bit pageanty, but she can do no wrong today. They are about as cute it is humanly possible. I thought the car ride with the balloons was so charming.
There it is. Thats who they are.
    Mr. & Mrs. Prince Charming.

  38. DoMaJoReMc says:

    ADORABLE!!

  39. Amanda G says:

Cute! Camilla’s on the other hand…meh.

  40. Polkasox says:

Look at the third photo – it looks like you can see her hip bones sticking out. She looks beautiful but painfully thin. Hopefully now that the wedding stress is over she can relax. Kate – eat something!!

  41. Jilly Bean says:

now that is a lovely and flattering dress!

  42. Hmmm says:

Totally, TOTALLY meh! She’s wearing a frock, that’s all. But it doesn’t enhance her in any manner. FAIL. I feel like we’re morphing back to the 1950’s.

  43. Grasshopper says:

She looks beautiful. Just please lighten up on the eyeliner on lower lids. It gives her the appearance of squinty eyes. Is it just me – I am curious? I have a British friend & she insists on eyeliner on lower lids as well…every pix I have seen of Kate (before wedding) eyes look puffy or squinty. Imagine Angelina Jolie with eyeliner on top & bottom eyelids. Angelina Jolie looks amazing w eyeliner on top…..

  44. Isa says:

Love it! I wish that I had a waist that tiny!

  45. Eileen says:

    I’m digging Camilla’s righteous mu-mu.

  46. K-MAC says:

    gorgeous!

  47. zesty says:

I was wondering if anyone else noticed how pointy her bust was with both the wedding gown and this dress…glad I wasn’t the only one.

And wow, she looks like a bobblehead in that third pic. I hope it’s just a funny angle cause it looks like a bigger version of her head was photoshopped onto a too-small body!

  48. tango says:

The dress is beautiful but doesn’t flow nicely over her chest. I can see the boning of the underlayer poking through the fabric which is a no-no in my book. I don’t like the darts in the chest area because with that type fabric they’re very noticeable and end at a point like an x marks the spot where her nipples should be. And the skirt is very much styled like her primary wedding dress skirt. I wouldn’t loved something short or a mermaid style instead of another A-line skirt. And a fluffy cardigan seems more appropriate for a fall wedding. All around this was a bit of a fail.

  49. Ashley says:

It wasn’t obvious in the other dress but she is way too thin. The satin on the second dress looks too cheap like you’d find that dress in any bridal store. The shrug is cute but too casual.

I reiterate, this is not MCQUEEN! Too boring to even have his name attached to it.

  50. Nix says:

Adorable. She is a beautiful happy bride and that is all that matters.

  51. Fiona says:

Fabulous!A style queen is born! This young lady is the picture perfect!Kudos to her.

  52. orion70 says:

There is a photo of Pippa’s changeover dress here:
    http://www.people.com/people/package/article/0,,20395222_20486184,00.html

  53. bored says:

I wanna know more about Princess Beatrice

  54. original kate says:

the dress is kind of meh but i love the shrug thingy. i also think she is a bit too thin.

  55. Dingles says:

    Does her waist even exist?

  56. AnnieFleming says:

Something about it doesn’t look finished.
    Maybe the pointy boob area?

The cardigan is cute, but it doesn’t quite make sense with the dress. It doesn’t say “bridal”, to me.

    She does look very pretty.

  57. watcher says:

Grasshopper, I agree with you. She needs to lose the eye liner on the lower lid. It just doesn’t look good – it makes her look older than she is. I was hoping she’d skip it for her wedding day but no such luck. She must like it that way?

  58. dep says:

That dress is stunning. Absolutely beautiful. I wish i could feel the fabric!

  59. Annaloo says:

Camille made me think of Dumbledore

  60. lucy2 says:

    I like it!

  61. Kelly B says:

She’s adorable and gorgeous. I disagree that she is superskinny, but she needs to stop here and maybe gain a few back after the big day. I’m happy for them!

Camilla is looking quite smart in her Mrs. Roper homage. Might as well get comfy.

  62. HEB says:

Love all of it. The end.
Can’t wait to see more pictures of the big evening party.

  63. Victor von Doom says:

    William – SARTORIAL FAIL

I really want to grab William tie him down and give him a tight fade to wipe out that ridiculous bird’s nest he has growing on his dome… jeez man admit it. YOU. ARE. BALD.

He looks like such a buffoon in all his self-denial.

He’s wearing $5,000 bespoke suits and tuxedos from Savile Row and it’s totally lost on him because he can’t own his baldness.. not confident. definitely not cool.

Look at the fourth pic. Notice the similarity? Is this what the British can expect from their future king? A lame comb-over like his old man or even worse – Donald Trump?

    Wankers all.

    DOOM

  64. dahlia1947 says:

The skirt is not that cute. Maybe if the bottom half was shorter and slimmer, not as a full skirt. (That sounds funny. Glad it wasn’t like that!)

Then it would be cute. all in all she looks beautifulA! Very classy!

  65. Maggie says:

I liked it, very old Hollywood IMO. However, what is up with the breast structure on both gowns? The weird, 1955 pointy look is not that flattering. If you have to have some padding sewn in, fine, but make them look soft, full, and round like REAL BREASTS.

  66. Ron says:

Beautiful again. She looks regal and modern which is hard to achieve.

  67. The Other Katherine says:

Aww, Kate looks darling; I love the fuzzy cardie.

Camilla looks like she’s gotten comfortable for an evening of partying. (I totally approve. My favorite comment about the after-party is a tweet by @StephenAtHome [Stephen Colbert]: “The Queen is blitzed on Mai Tais and keeps screaming for the DJ to ‘crank the Foghat.'” Hee.)

  68. Karin says:

Beautiful, and that hair, cascades of cover-girl hair!

  69. paula says:

this second dress is awful and absolutely i cannot believe how people can say she looks gorgeous as she is obviously WAY TOO THIN. The dress is just hanging off bone. What a terrible role model for all the wannabe princesses/ young girls out there. I cannot believe this “look” is tolerated in society and even admired

  70. Dea says:

As I read Kate and her mom were on Ducan diet which causes a lot of weight loss in a very short period of time.

“Created by French nutritionist Dr. Pierre Dukan, this diet allows you to “eat whatever you want and still be thin” and eat a lot of meat throughout, according to its founder.

The diet is divided into four stages. The first stage, lasting one to two weeks, focuses on eating lean proteins such as chicken, seafood and lean beef.

The second phase adds non-starchy vegetables to the meal plan and they are alternated with all-protein days.

The third phase adds carbs to the menu (bread, pasta) as well as cheese and fruit. This phase dictates how much of these foods you can eat.

The final phase allows dieters to eat almost anything they want six days a week and on the seventh day you return to the all protein diet from the second phase.”

As any diet it can be dangerous for people not in good health and it works for short period of time.

  71. Relli says:

Perfection. And really enforcing my choice to wear a simple gown amd something covering myshoulder with something warm/fuzzy!

  72. Lolli Larsson says:

She is stunning, I love her makeup and hair, but I think maybe she lost a bit too much weight by the time she had to wear this dress–there is something not quite right about the way it fits from the waist up. And she seems to know it because the way she is standing almost looks like she’s afraid the top is going to fall down and she’s holding her arms against it to make sure it doesn’t. Meh!

  73. Minx2 says:

Im not loving the dress, particularly the bolero looks awkward and the area around her breasts, once more is not well done.. too pointy. Her sister wore a much nicer dress to this party: emerald green Alice Temperley. AS to weight loss, according to some sources, Kate exercised up to 4 hrs a day prior to the wedding. No wonder she’s stick thin. I hope she relaxex and puts on a few pounds now.

  74. Minx2 says:

check out Pippa’s dress for the evening reception. Her mom looks gorgeous too.

    http://myroyal-myroyals.blogspot.com/

  75. tmbg says:

I don’t know what has happened here, but last night I couldn’t give a damn about watching it, found myself awake at 5 am with a sinus headache, turned it on and now I can’t get enough. It’s suddenly, gulp, making me interested in these royals!

If I’m seen at Barnes & Noble buying royal wedding collector’s issues, someone shoot me with a dart gun. Thanks.

PS – this dress is quite nice too, although I might have chosen a different shrug. Maybe a wrap.

PSS – you can see Camilla’s bra through that Mrs. Roper mumu. Not a fan.

  76. Ruby Red Lips says:

    I WANT the Cardigan 😀

Dress is gorgeous, she looks gorgeous, but agree with posters above she may have lost a few too many pounds

  77. really says:

true classic with such ease, one could not get lovelier!!!!

  78. sashavice says:

    The bitch has great hair!

  79. Mrs. Darcy says:

Not nearly as pretty as her wedding dress, but it’s ok. Her waist is tiny, I kind of like the blingy belt as the rest of it is so plain (I was afraid her wedding dress would be like this). The fuzzy cardigan is too wintry imo. I kind of wish she’d worn her hair up, her hair is her signature I know but it’s a little boring in the context of the day.

  80. JulieM says:

I have to agree with those who say this does not really look like a McQueen. Nor did her wedding dress. I like both dresses, love the bolero here, but neither do anything for her flat chest. She needs some push up, not flatten down. Maybe if she put on a few pounds……

BTW-I hope Sarah Burton does go to Dior. Think of the artisans she would have at her disposal at the Dior atelier.

  81. kiko says:

the dress is pretty but she is so thin it’s painful to watch!

  82. samab says:

this whole thing is pretty boring.

  83. ecc says:

I see many people continue to judge her style according to the criteria used for celebrities, forgetting that she is now in a quite different league. She is representing an entire country and a Royal Family. This is not a red carpet. She doesn’t have to run after Sarah Jessica Parker or other cheap actresses or pop singers. She has an amount of rules to follow.
She must be careful in showing nude arms, shoulders, legs, feet or back.
No way she could enter that church with a real McQueen style. I found her appropriate for the event.
I also found her whole family really appropriate and effortless classy, with a very aristocratic bearing. The poise you can expect from Royal Family members themselves. Just perfect.

Despite the rules, Catherine succeeded in imposing her own style, thou, which is a major success and a clear signal that she has a great personality and a self confidence that Diana didn’t have. Diana became a fashion icon only after her split. Can you just remember the fashion disasters she used to wear in the first years? The awful wedding dress? How shy and insecure she was?

  84. serena says:

Camilla’s dress looks so cheap, like those giant dress one uses to go to the beach.
    ugh.

I just love Kate’s simple but elegant style. She’s very pretty and the dress is beautiful (such old hands!).

  85. You don't say says:

The dress is simple and pretty, but seems more “prom gown” to me. But, she is a modest young woman, and future Queen of England, so it is her style. After that perfect wedding dress, nothing else would have been able to compete with that. Her sister on the other had was able to be a bit more daring with beautiful emerald green. I bet she and Harry had a lovely evening.

However, I have a pet peeve with men’s foot ware and formal dress. They should be wearing patent leather, not dull leather shoes and the pants legs seem a bit short to me. You would think that the two future Kings of England would know that protocol. I do hope they were wearing weskits (spelling?) not cumberbunds though, as I really love that look with double breasted tuxedos. Also, never realized that Prince Charles was so short.

  86. daisydoodle says:

I agree with everything ecc’s critique, she has a certain profile she has to maintain. I think she is not a risk taker anyway, but I imagine her style is more streamlined, simple and fitted. I think as she becomes more comfortable in her position, I think she will have more input. That said, she was expected to wear a “bridal look” for her evening reception, it was more relaxed and she still looked regal.

  87. spinner says:

    Perfectly stunning!!

  88. S says:

I WISH THERE WAS A ROYAL WEDDING EVERY WEEK 🙁 I’m going into withdrawal already… you guys did such a fabulous job of coverage, thankyou! Wish I could spend every night huddled over my laptop with tea, biscuits, and lots of hats…now I’ll probably have to wait at least another what, three? four? five? years until the next one…

GOD I AM SO DEPRESSED NOW.

  89. Bellatrix says:

Am I the only one to notice it’s the same dress with a little less?

Same skirt sans the behind hoopla, same bustier sans the lace. Just a lovely sparkly belt and a fluffy cardigan.
I like the idea of keeping the same gown and just tossing with extra pieces to make it more wearable during the evening…

But this is not a second wedding frock. It’s the same in its night version.

  90. 88Modesty88 says:

Re William: Should he shave his head? I’d kinda dig that look!

And Kate is extremely thin. But I think she looks gorgeous and I love the bolero. Pippa’s second dress is beautiful too and I have to say I love Camilla’s dress, especially the colour. It actually flatters her.

  91. SRM says:

Its gorgeous, as is she. Totally appropriate for the event (its not Hollywood afterall). And most likely what she wanted, which is most important.

Geez, I’d hate for anyone to put my wedding/wedding party attire (which was lovely) under such a microscope.

  92. Sunday says:

It’s the same dress she wore before. They just transformed the look by changing the top layer, putting a belt, removing a layer of petticoat and detaching the train.. i bet you it’s the same dress.. practical brides do it all the time! 🙂

  93. teehee says:

Im glad to see she’s loving every bit of being teh Princess…. I mean, face it all of us dream to get the chance to play dress up and meet & greet for a living… its got to be fab. Its not necessarily easy, and the publicity can be viscious– but if you really want it, it must feel amazing to finally get to be in those shoes. Ah, how I would love that too 😀
Oh and snarky side note: it doesnt matter what Camilla wears, she always manages to look like a cereal box with a table cloth on top of it. ^^

Oh and 89 dont be depressed! I am so thrilled ot finally have ‘a princess’ again to be loking out for– her latest fashion endeavors and activities– Ive really missed it since Diana. Finally we have a new princess to watch… its so magical 😀 OK Im not nuts abotu Kate, but, the fun and charm of it all is finally back after a long wait! Im happy not depressed LOL

  94. Janna says:

It’s meh. But she is the future Queen of England, so I’m sure was mindful of what she wore. She just dropped too much weight. I remember a photo of her and William on a boat. She was in a bikini and had a sexy figure and was more chesty. This dress was nice but not brilliant.

  95. Crash2GO2 says:

She is too thin. I don’t know why she felt she had to lose weight in the first place! She has always been quite sleek. At any rate, she has been beautiful, beautifully dressed and carried herself flawlessly throughout. I don’t think she has misstepped once since she started dating Wills, honestly! Yet she makes it look easy and seems delighted to be with him and he with her. Good stuff I say.

  96. NancyMan says:

Damn, those Brits do put on a show!!

I know that we must now focus on and support our normal skanky celebrities with their Botox, puffy lips and lack of facial movement. But it makes me sad. A Kardasian, an Angelina or a Lee Ann just seem so cheap and mundane when compared to the pageantry of a Royal Wedding.

By the way, the blue Aston Martin the happy couple was driving is one of the most cherished possessions of Prince Charles. It was his first car. Early in their marriage, he and Princess Diana had a huge public argument when she sat on the car at a polo match denting the hood (bonnet). Ladies, for the record, a woman not respecting a man’s car is considered reasonable grounds for a divorce.

I think its really sweet that the Prince let the happy couple take it out for a short spin.

  97. bluhare says:

Am with @etcc re her choice of dress. She can’t wear a flashy dress marrying into the Royal family — I believe the Queen approved all outfits of the major players. I don’t know if she had to approve the wedding gown, though. And I hope she didn’t give the Royal Okey Dokey to Beatrice and Eugenie’s hats.

I thought the evening outfit was great. It was a continuation of her wedding dress, yet simpler. I thought the diamante waistline was lovely and she was really smart to have that mohair(?) cardie … I never liked going to those big events with a sleeveless, or short sleeve outfit. Too frickin’ cold most of the time! She was still the bride on her wedding day so she kept the bridal thing going. Lovely.

But on the men’s pants hemline thing — you know who had the best “break” of the day? Check out David Beckham’s pants. Lower down!! His hemline is perfect.

  98. Chrissy says:

This dress … meh. Pippa definitely looked better for the evening portion. The all one color cake plus all the white/ivory colors … Just a bit blah. I’m sooo thrilled for the couple. They truly look happy and in love. Hope she lost the shrug later. I think that alone would help this dress.

  99. Coco says:

Long time listener, first time caller — this website is fantastic !

IMO, both the dresses were unimaginative, like Kate went to the house of McQueen and told them exactly what she wanted ! The second one is a real disaster — what’s with the furry bolero and the pointed apex ? If she wanted to go minimal, she could have worn a sublimely cut Stella.

Ecc ( above ) says : “Despite the rules, Catherine succeeded in imposing her own style, thou, which is a major success and a clear signal that she has a great personality and a self confidence that Diana didn’t have. Diana became a fashion icon only after her split. Can you just remember the fashion disasters she used to wear in the first years? The awful wedding dress? How shy and insecure she was?”

… Oooh ! Diana ! Those were the 80’s — I think the wedding dress ( with the 25ft long train ) was awesome ! She looked like a princess ! Kate somehow does not look refreshing and in the wedding pictures she looks like she’s got it all worked out in her head — like some kind of agenda. Di was shy, demure, alluring… Of course she had her share of “what was she thinking” moments, but remember that dance with Travolta in 1985 ? Iconic. What is Catherine’s “own style” ? Issa dresses ? Really ? ( She has awfully bad taste in shoes. ) Okay, enough said ! Lastly, her disposition comes across too practiced, but I guess she forgot to rehearse her wave.

    Cheers !
Eh ! Am I the only one who missed Kate Moss at the wedding ?

I have an inside scoop from someone who knows a “junior royal” that both Will and Kate and the rest of the Middleton ladies (mom and sister) are notrious chain smokers…..that can explain skinny mini, and her cigs and diet coke diet.

I LOVE that dress. So classic. And the cardigan is awesome.

She’s thin, but it suits her. I don’t think she’s in anorexia territory or anything.

Here’s my thing, though. The rings. One is silver, one is gold. That alone looks cheap and tacky. But the wedding band is sort of stuffed under the engagement ring. They obviously don’t belong together and they don’t even fit together as a unit. It looks terrible. She a princess now and a duchess (a duchess, by definition, has to be a princess first), and she has to go around wearing that? It looks uncomfortable even, the way the band is stuffed under the engagement ring. Anyone else notice this?

  102. mew says:

She’s thin but not like anorexic-look. However, that dress as her wedding dress both have a bit of pointy-tits thing going on.. reminds me of that famous Madonna dress. Plus, on that, the fabric underneath seems to crubmle and it looks cheap. McQueen looking cheap. Thumbs up for that.

Love the cardigan though. St. Angie had once similar, loved that one too. Fuzzy.

I don’t understand all the hoopla about her weight. If she would be the opposite and gained weight like a lot of people do when they are stressed, she would be called all kind of nasty names.

She had a huge wedding to prepare for. All brides try to lose weight before the big day. Some are very successfull, others not so much. I’m sure she will go back to her previous weight when she pleases. She will be scrutinized enough in the future and everything she wears or does will be picked on. Kate is a beautiful, smart and confident young woman and she and William are a lovely couple and are both in love. Good for them that they took the time to get married. I wish them all the luck and a successfull marriage.

IMO Kate looked stunning on her wedding day and very happy. I loved her wedding dress and wish a lot more brides would go for sleeves. It’s more flattering than the sleeveless look. Especially when you have arms like huge sausages. Not a good look. Kates dress was classy, elegant and simply georgous. Loved it. Dianas dress, I hated. She looked like a child that played dress up in her mothers closet. Didn’t understand all that oohhing and ahhing about it.

I don’t feel the second dress, but hey it’s her taste. She has to like it and feel comfortable in it. You can’t please everybody, so might as well just please yourself.

  104. Cheyenne says:

    @Coco:
    1) Welcome.

    2) I thought Diana’s poufy wedding gown was a disaster. The poor thing looked like a big blob of Reddi-Whip. She didn’t really develop a sense of style until she hit her late 20’s.

  105. Cheyenne says:

@junipergreen: Are you sure one ring is silver? It could be white gold or platinum.

I never understood why platinum is so expensive. I think it looks like cheap aluminum. I’ll take 14 or 18k yellow gold any time.

  106. tracy vaiuso says:

    very cute! It is classic

  107. Zelda says:

    @Cheyenne
I always just assumed it was universally accepted that Diana’s dress was ridiculous. Even Diana herself said, years later, that she shouldn’t have chosen that dress

  108. Brittney says:

@TeriC — there are pictures of Kate leaving a club with cigarettes in her purse (a few years ago) here: http://www.popularsmokers.com/kate-middleton/

Rumor has it she smokes recreationally and to suppress her appetite… but that Will hates it. It must be quite difficult to be a “chain-smoker” and never once get caught smoking by the press; I’d imagine she only does it occasionally (or that she really does get some privacy now and again).

  109. Kloops says:

The engagement ring is white gold and the wedding band is the welsh yellow gold from that one nugget used to fashion most of the royal women’s bands. I like the band. I think the significance is lovely, but I’m not crazy about the engagement ring and I bet she isn’t either. By that I mean, I bet it is not her style at all, but came with a prince, so she’ll take it.

I think I’ve od’d on wedding crap in the last 24 hours. Time to detox.

  110. Coco says:

Cheyenne, that’s exactly what I loved about Diana’s gown, no one could have pulled it off except for her ! With all that excessive fuss and pageantry that surrounds a royal nuptial, I look forward to the OTT fairytale-esque stuff. If they’re trying to be all chic and modern, then they might as well get rid of a whole chunk of silly traditions first.

  111. teehee says:

I loved Di’s dress. I would love to have something very similar— but of course toned down. Not so voluminous and of course no 7 meter trane. 🙂 She was a bit lost in it. However it truly brought home the larger than life/fairytale aspect of the wedding.
And I think the whole ‘fashion icon’ thing was a standard set by Di. Now it is assumed that each princess is or must be one…late bloomer or not.

  112. blah says:

    @teehee
Well, actually there had been fashion icons before Diana. What about Grace Kelly, Jackie Kennedy, even Wallis Simpson…
Diana set standards when she was in her thirties, bewfore she looked lost in her dresses.

  113. JennJenn says:

Drapey fabric and jeweled waist get a thumbs-up. Hard, pointy bodice and frumpy gathered skirt get a thumbs-down. Both Kate and her sister Pippa are very slender. Pippa’s bridesmaid dress flattered her figure perfectly by cleverly enhancing her small bust with the cowl while skimming over her flat stomach.

  114. JennJenn says:

Thumbs-up on the jeweled waistband and drapey fabric. Thumbs-down on the hard, pointy bodice and frumpy gathered skirt waist. Pippa’s bridesmaid dress was more flattering, its bodice cowl cleverly enhancing a small bust and a smooth drape over a flat stomach and slim hips.

  115. teehee says:

…I mean specifically as it relates to the Princess of Wales (or person in a similar role- duchess of whatever she is) being a fashion icon… eg that Kate is now expected to be one.

  116. vanessa says:

That’s not muppet fur, you imbecile, it’s angora.

  117. TXCinderella says:

I love it! She would would great in a potato sack.

  118. Forelithe says:

Bellatrix nailed it- it is obviously the same gown- the lace was a shrug as well…removable train-take off the veil and tiara add the belt and angora shrug…party on !

  119. joe says:

    someone give her a Cheeseburger

  120. wifeyskarsgard says:

Wow, i actually like this dress i think it looks better then her wedding dress if you ask me!!!!

  121. You don't say says:

Not the same dress, I don’t think. The wedding dress was described as ‘ivory’, this one is white. The wedding dress was pleated in the front, this one, no pleats, there was a photo from the back when the train was lifted pretty high, and you see her petticoats, not the back of her dress, so the train was a part of the dress, not removable.

  122. RHONYC says:

so sad that princess di isn’t around to see this day. *tears* 🙁

  123. ladybert62 says:

I like that dress and even the fuzzy-wuzzy thing! I am not a fuzzy-wuzzy person! I do NOT like Camilla’s dress at all – it makes her look fat and old (which she is!). William looks good in a tux.
