These are photos from last night’s premiere of Sleeping Beauty in Cannes. I’m too lazy to look up the movie or tell you anything about it (meh), mostly because I just want to talk about fashion and cute couples. First up: Diane Kruger and her lover Joshua Jackson. Now, you know I love Josh. He’s adorable. And you know he just gives in and lets his girl dress him. So I’m not sure who to bash for his shoe choice. Were those kicks Josh’s call, or Diane’s? One of them should have vetoed it. Dress shoes for the Cannes red carpet, please. As for Diane, she wore this metallic Calvin Klein that looks like they just poured liquid gold onto her body (a la Goldfinger). You can even tell that the bitch isn’t wearing (nor does she NEED to wear) Spanx. Amazing. So, beautiful couple, and my only complaint is about his shoes.
Next up, Rachel McAdams walked the red carpet arm-in-arm, hand-in-hand with her lover Michael Sheen. On another day, they might have been heady competition for Josh and Diane, but not this event. Because for this event, Rachel went with one of the trashiest looks I’ve ever seen on her. It’s some kind of God-awful jumpsuit/pants/bustier combo by Monique Lhuillier. In a hideous beige/nude that does nothing for Rachel’s coloring. Of course, Rachel’s coloring isn’t being helped by the fact that her hair is bleached to infinity and beyond, and it looks like a cheap bleach job too. She looks so… budget. And yes, she and Michael look adorable together, but I also think he’s kind of like “Seriously, even I, Welsh Jesus, know that you could do better, babe.”
But do you know who looked even worse than everybody put together? Bryce Dallas Howard. WHY WOULD YOU WEAR THIS TO CANNES?!?!? I think she’s pregnant (?) but that’s not an excuse to wear an oversized SMOCK.

Guess I’m in the minority here, or will be, but I kind of like BD Howard’s boho look. It suits her. The swirls on the skirt look like the Starry Night painting.
Diane and Josh are a lovely couple. Rachel’s pants are inappropriate for the occasion. I don’t know who the red head is, never heard of her.

I’m with Vivi..I don’t think that’s a smock. It could just be the wind…but..that kind of looks like a pant line. I also have to say that I looked at this completely ready to be biased towards Rachel…until I saw the pictures. Oh my. Wow, Diane. Wow.
As a fellow Canadian, I feel the need to defend ~ Ok, so Rachel’s pants appear to have been made from a potato sack…I love the style however, and the top is gorgeous. The look would have been beautiful if appropriate material and shade for the pants had been chosen. Her make-up and hair style were done nicely (No, I refuse to state the obvious, that she needs a new colorist). Besides, at least she didn’t wear sneakers…just saying.
Did Joshua have to walk all the way from their hotel to the bunker or did he have to help the deckhands on the boat on their way from hotel to red carpet?
I like Diane’s dress, Rachel seems to have forgotten half of her suit – the jacket, and BDH???

mcadams simply can’t dress herself. Ive never seen her 100% pull off anything she wears. either her hair is wrong, or her makeup, or the dress, or the shoes. something is ALWAYS off. kruger nails it 89% of the time.

The girl is homely. Then there she is doing the pose hard thing. But the dress is lovely and it hangs really well. And she does tend to wear alot of great things. But geez… she is just homely.

what’s with all the beige and nudes lately?? I have nude shoes for my feet only when I wear bright colors…rachel should have kept the pants but gone with a bright red or turquoise top. she looks pretty with blonde hair and I don’t think her hair would have looked so budget if she didn’t wear pale clothes. I have blonde hair and I know better than to wear white or any other pale color because it washes you out terribly! Diane kruger looks great too! and I like jj’s shoes!

I can’t hate on anything McAdams wears. And I can’t hate on anything Diane Kruger wears. But in this race, Kruger DEFINITELY comes out on top. Her body is banging in that dress. *steam rising from my keyboard* Both women are gloriously beautiful though. I’d wear both of those looks. But I like pantsuits, so whatev.
Does Bryce Dalls Howard looks different to anyone else? She looks like she’s had a nose job.
I found all three looked nice – though with each I had mild issues.
For Diane, it looks amazing, but feel the cut of the top of the dress to be a bit odd. The square of the neckline brings in sharper edges then the dress needs. Also how low the arms go looks good from straight on, and good from profile, but at three quarters is a bit odd with the square neckline. And a lower scoop in the back would also have been nice. But it is still a nice dress on her, and the material is so gorgeous and moves really well with her body.
McAdams’ makeup and hair bothered me more than the clothes. She should not pull her hair back when her roots are showing – makes it look cheaper, and the bright lipstick does nothing to help while the light is washing her out. But the clothes were alright, though I think with a belt to separate the top from the bottom it would have been much better. The high-waisted pants seem a bit too high-waisted without a belt. The first picture is by far the best looking, though. The second her eyes are popping badly and the third she just has a bit of a smug bitch face going.
I have a soft place in my heart for Bryce, and I don’t know why. It is not for Twilight (that fact made me depressed…), but I really don’t know why I have consistently liked her for a couple years. This dress, not the most flattering, but I don’t find it unflattering. It is looking like a beach dress made of nice fabric, but the way her hair and makeup is styled, along with the clutch, earring, and shoes just works for me. She does look like she may be preggers, though – I can see a bit of weight gain in the arms that she gained and then lost with her previous pregnancy.
Kruger obviously wins. I adore Rachel McAdams but I prefer her in her natural brunette form. The beige does nothing to help how washed out she looks as a blonde.
Rachel McAdams is the better blonde in my opinion but as for her outfit (mehhh). Her top isnt bad but paired with those high waisted pants its a eyesore.

Diane for the win! Beautiful dress and she most definitely has the body for it! Rachel, on the other hand, looks just terrible. She’s such a pretty girl but the blonde hair does NOTHING for her coloring. Neither does that high waisted disaster of an outfit. If BDH is preggo, I can understand the dress choice, looks totally comfy! The colors look great on her and I envy her hair and skin.

I used to think that about her too, until I saw her act in something. She does not photograph like she moves. She’s radiant in motion.
I just LOVE Diane Kruger and anyone who’s seen Inglorious Bastards knows just how elegent and stunning she truly is. Rachel is just kind of……. cheap and bubbly compared to Diane. Sorry but Diane is absolutely “Divine”. She is aptly named. 🙂
