OMG!! It’s super-official now! Michael Fassbender and Zoe Kravitz are totes in lurve. Not only did they happen to get pap’d together a few days ago – after spending weeks carefully avoiding each other during media for X-Men: First Class – but now we have an actual STORY with unnamed sources getting all up in MY Fassdong’s bidness. I have no words for how much this Us Weekly story wounded my soul. I am in actual pain. The only possible, conceivable way this could be worse is if it was People Magazine and the word “cuddlefest” was used. Thankfully, I’m not facing THAT particular barrage of tragedy. Instead, I’m facing this: a story about Fassbender being “shy” (WTF?!!?) and how Zoe acts older than her age (SRSLY?!?) and how she “takes care” of him (*dies*).
Ready for another Hollywood super couple?
X-Men: First Class costars Zoe Kravitz, 22, and Michael Fassbender, 34, couldn’t keep their hands off each other during a romantic stroll through NYC’s West Village on Sunday. Earlier that morning, the two had brunch with a handful of friends, including Kravitz’ ex, actor Ben Foster, 30.
Though the costars began dating while filming the Marvel flick in 2010, this is the first time the two have been photographed together (excluding promotional appearances).
So what stopped them from going public sooner?“They’re really low-key, but they have a great time together just talking music or movies,” a source tells Us Weekly. “They really didn’t want to be a topic of conversation during the press for X-Men.”
As for their 12-year age difference, the source tells Us that “Zoe’s really mature for her age in that she has very strong opinions and she is very confident in herself. Most people are shocked to learn she’s so young; she doesn’t really bring it up and age would never stop her from dating anybody.”
And, according to the insider, Kravitz (whose parents are Lenny Kravitz and Lisa Bonet) captured Fassbender’s heart right from the start.
“For how good looking and smart he is, Michael’s pretty shy,” the source tells Us. “She is actually the one taking care of him most the time. She really respects his talent.”

I really don’t care for this whole “Zoe is an old soul” argument being made. I’ve read her interviews. Chica is YOUNG. She’s 22 going on 17. Not an enormous difference, but considering she looks 15, this whole thing is totally getting creepy. Like Jake Gyllenhaal-Swifty creepy.
I still want to know what‘s going on with this quote: “For how good looking and smart he is, Michael’s pretty shy… She is actually the one taking care of him most the time. She really respects his talent.” That makes Fassbender sound like he’s some kind of super-sensitive recluse, agonizing over his ART. He’s not that guy. I mean, I don’t know him personally, but I’ve read and seen his interviews, and he comes across as gregarious, charming, slightly unhinged and loving his new-found stardom. He is the opposite of shy. He is the avatar of SEX.
By the way, my fellow Fassloonie at Pop Sugar, Allie, sent me this video of her interview with Zoe (and Rose Byrne and the other dude). Zoe doesn’t come across badly… but she’s just so young.

There is no great difference, physically or mentally, between men in their late 20s – early 30s. (same age bracket) So this coupling makes sense to me.
But in Michael’s case specifically, he LOOKS mid- late THIRTIES. Although his mind doesnt seem to be older than 29 tops 😛
Speaking from experience (and im only 22), once uv dated “older”-ish guys, its really hard to go back.
SO MUCH bangs trauma in this video 🙁 hurts my eyes. Despite his talent, he strikes me as immature (shy, riiiight) and she’s a kid with cool parents trying to be equally cool and free spirited. So, blah for both of them.

I am not into pretty men so my opinion has nothing to do with this guy not being and old school Jude or…insert name of pretty male actor. BUT I do not find this dude to be attractive at all. The hair looks like he used Sun-In and his skin looks like it needs a good moisturizer. He just doesn’t do it for me. I also don’t think the age difference is that drastic.

I really dislike how they are trying to sell her as an ‘old soul’ and a lot more mature for her age. To me it seems like a ploy to white wash the age difference and other issues people are discussing which may or may not apply in the case of this couple.
I am 12 years younger than my significant other and I have never tried to white wash and cover it up. In fact my SO gets ribbed a lot about being a craddle robber but I make sure to can that sh*t immediately. I was also 19 at the time we met and I was quite aware of what I was doing and with whom.
I would have more respect for this couple if they just did their thing without trying to drop items in the columns to make it sound more appropriate.
I just don’t see most people’s fascination with this man or Zoe for that matter. They both seem to be self absorbed Hollywood types.
I think he’s one of the kind of guys that can read women and figure out how to approach them. She might have responded to a, supposed, shy guy whereas another woman would want someone of a take charge mentality. He’s a player. So she’ll last through the X Men promo then he’ll be back to you.
I know this burns a little Kaiser but it will be okay. From what I know of you through your writing, you will find a new, hotter, skeevier dong to lust after in a few months. Oh, this summer may be a little tough, with the XMen movie coming out, and Zoe and Fassdong all up in your face, but just keep on the sunny side. Hey, and when they break up, you can spin it however you want (and they will break up. By December. I promise.). In the meantime, try to turn a blind eye and focus on Zoe’s step dad who is so much hotter, stronger, sexier, than Fassdong.And you know her stepfather must be a little, no make that a lot, crazy to be with Lisa Bonet (a total loon). she reminds me of my little sister. she’s young and thinks she knows it all and wants to sound like she’s wise and adult like when really you sound like a 22 year old girl, trying to put on big girl pants. i doubt he’s shy, maybe he’s just one of those observant types and zoe is more outgoing? either way they don’t make a good looking couple.

So…the publicists and whomever are worried about how the age difference will play out in public (because Swifty and Jake was a major fail) so they’re trotting out these stories to make the age difference seem less pronounced.
I don’t know a thing about Zoe Kravitz- never paid her any attention until the last week or so, but I do remember an interview with Jennifer Lawrence (who is 20, and who I like) and she was gushing about how amazing Zoe is. So I’m willing to believe that outside of the publicity machine for a major film, Zoe is a really chill, fun person.
Uh…WOW. I’m as gobsmacked by the US Weekly article as you. But let’s look at it this way: this sort of press builds intrigue about the man. It makes us wonder (and lust) more and more about him.
Every interview with Zoe is in total contrast to this report (yeah, she comes across as very young and nowhere near as mature as him), and this is most likely a passing thing for both of them. It happens all the time: they worked on the same flick together, he may be drawn to her “youth” (i.e. immature energy on some level), and it will run its course in a few months. Remember Gerry and Jen Aniston? The rumors about them? Are they an item now? NO. See? This is how it works; it’s a law of nature or something.
Mike and Zoe are simply “involved” at the moment, not “gettin’ hitched in 2 weeks!” so time will take care of this little blip on your Hot Guy radar and all will be right in the universe again.

The ‘old soul’ concept itself is complete bunk – but why wouldn’t she be mature for her age owing to the fact that she grew up the child of celebrities on the streets of NYC?
Fassbender beat up his ex gf in a drunken rage. I swooned over his portrayal of Rochester, but dude is not shy. Or a nice person.
What became of the ex girlfriend who said he beat her? Was she granted restraining order and medical bills money? Or did Michael’s people have issue dealt with? Can’t seem to find anything about a conclusion. I hope it’s not true.
With regards to he and Zoe- It’s creepy. She looks like a child. I do sincerely hope she is a mature stong woman to deal with the ego and experience of an older man.
From all the words in the dictionary, “shy” is hardly the one I’d pick to describe him.

Actually I get the shy vibe from him, maybe it’s the posture, but I already had the impression that he may be shy watching an interview here in CB. And I totally buy that she has a more mature attitude, not that she really is mature, but that she acts like one who pretends to be mature. In plain English a control freak. There are many men who love to stay with strong control freak-ish women, and those are the men I hate.

Meh. It almost sounds like damage control after those photos of them together. Her publicist is spinning the relationship by saying she is so mature and nurturing that the age difference is negligible. It sounds better than saying she’s been around the block a few times and wants a guy like daddy with a lot of experience, and that she is exactly Fassbender’s type.

My sister knows Lenny through mutual friends, he’s not exactly dad material, but suppossedly Zoe went through a wild streak young but has had it together for a couple years now. I wouldn’t be surprised if she was more together than your average 21 year old, and that someone like Fassbender would find the mix of her being mature and encased in nubile young body desirable. lol

I read whatever I could find about MF’s previous girlfriend–it did sort of disappear. What I found interesting was that she did the same thing with her previous boyfriend. Girl’s got problems either way you look at it.
Fassbender is not shy he is sly he’s probably the one who called and told the paps where they will be at, the reason I am saying this is if you read some of his past interviews, (a few weeks back) he has been dropping major hints that he was seeing her, while she never mention anything about having a boyfriend. This man wants his well deserved FAME and wants the cloud of being a woman beater taken away by dating Zoe (Lenny Kravitz daughter)and she just seem to me to be needy for Love (wasn’t she just involved with a 19 year old). I give him (Fassbender) this he is a smooth operator, but I got his act from the beginning even from that Vogue magazine interview, why will you pick up a person that you were suppose to be seeing on the downlow in the presence of a reporter, that you know is going to include it in her interview. So who is the one that in control of that relationship, Not Zoe.

Maybe you worded your comment wrong but it sounds like you’re saying she dates men who are too much older or too much younger.
I think she should stick to men under 25 and it’s perfectly fine to date guys in their late teens since she’s still so young. She looks way too young to be with Fassbender who actually looks like he’s in his 40s. The man is not aging well and he looks sneaky, sly, and dirty. Not to mention he’s a woman beater.
Just to put things into perspective: If you are a reader over 30, heck even over 25, imagine dating a person like the one you were at 21 or 22. Creepy isn’t it? I rest my case.

I really have no problem with Zoe, she’s pretty, seems nice enough and isn’t a bad actress, but yea, I’m not buying the ‘old soul’ thing either. I mean, don’t get me wrong I don’t think she’s particularly immature for her age either, but appropriately mature for a 22 year old. Fassy seems like he has an immature side to him that would make him get along very well with a 22 year old, that combined with them both being people who seem like they really like to party (drink, dance ext.) makes me see why they’re together. I do think Fassy has a shy side, but not to the extent that he’s some tortured artist who let’s his younger gf ‘take care’ of him. lol US mag is a tabloid. They don’t have real “sources”, they just have bs-ers.
