Matt Damon has been looking a little too “middle aged dad” lately. He was perfectly buff when he filmed Adjustment Bureau, but when he promoted it in early March he’d gained some weight and was sporting long fug hair. On the Piers Morgan show in March he was just as attractive as ever, but he looked like a more serious, older version of himself. He was sporting some cute but nerdy glasses on too.
Damon made an appearance at an event honoring him last night. He was one of the people celebrated at the “Made in New York” awards for his “‘significant contributions’ to the city’s entertainment and new media industries.” Damon lives in New York now with his family so that he can spend time with them while he’s filming. He told the audince that he used to come to New York with Ben Affleck to audition and that “our dream was…to actually some day get a movie… that [is] shot in New York.” Damon has fulfilled that dream several times over.
You can see that he’s taken some weight off, which he probably gained as sympathy pounds during his wife’s last pregnancy. He’s also cut his hair short. He looks like Jason Bourne again and like he’s erased ten years.
I’ll take Damon any old way, but this look is the one that won me over 13 years ago in Good Will Hunting, and this is the one I prefer.
Is it blasphemous to say that he should maybe consider dyeing his hair, like his good buddy Ben Affleck?
Here’s how he looked in February:
I just really don’t care for this guy. don’t know why. Also if any woman’s face had changed this much this site would be crying plastic surgery. Botox much Matt?
Now that’s the Damon I have been looking for!
I just adore this guy…he is a gem and a hell of an actor.
I *swoon* loved the fact that he gained sympathy pounds while his wife was pregnant – it is sooo cute.
Nooo! Keep the gray.
I like Damon, and find him “attractive and cute”, but not sexy or hot. Nice guy though and very likeable.
@Sue, we’e watched his face change dramatically over the years, but when he’s in top form he looks identical (older) as he used to. this i why we don’t scream botox.
however if barry manilow or kenny rogers shows their nip/tucked botoxy ken faces around here then the screaming would begin.
@Obvious: ditto
Ladies, just to let you know, my mother in law has called dibs on him and she is SERIOUS. Do not cross her. Damon belongs to her. LOL
I just really don’t care what he looks like. I used to not be able to stand him. (See that movie where he’s a psycho who takes some dude’s place – weenie!) And he is SO NOT JASON BOURNE.
But his love of his wife and children (all 4 of them, no “step” in his vocab, like our family) has made me fall in love with him. He’s one of my forever dongs, even though he’s too short for my taste. Same with Mark Wahlberg.
Very good actor, and seems like a great guy. @you don’t say, I agree, though occasionally I think he crosses the line to hot.
I looove Matt Damon.
I LOVE him! His acting, his look(s), his everything. And, He looks soo much like my Husband. They are of the same “tribe” so to speak of white guys. Even the hight thing. I also love his bi-racial marriage, as I am also an hispanic female married to a white guy.
Okay, I’m done 😉
Hot and Matt damon should never be in teh same sentence
Matt Damon can still get it UNF
Swoon!! I’ve always contended that Good Will Hunting is what made me fall for my husband when I met him years later. There is just something SO SEXY to me about working class boys from Boston!
Just saw The Rainmaker and he was great in that! I don’t know why but I always get him and Leonardo DiCaprio mixed up. Does anyone else do that?
Just the other day my BF said he thinks Matt Damon is a “Mark Wahlberg wannabe,” and he’s never liked his acting. I don’t necessarily agree, but I thought it was funny.
I’ve always liked his work, and think he’s a decent looking guy, but not my type. Although I totally know what you’re saying Bodhi, about the Boston boys!! I love me some Boston boys too…
I’ve got no problems with the longer-haired bespectacled Matt Damon, but the Bourne-ish one is good, too.
@PICOPINK: I confuse Matt with Ethan Hawke but I was thinking that like Leo, I have a hard time thinking of Matt as a “tough guy.” Nice, sure, but “ass-kicking?” Nah….
Hawt!!! Im so glad he dropped that creepy uncle look.
Onyx- Deniro made a joke about the comparison at the Golden Globes He said to Matt I loved you in “The Fighter”LOl
@onyx….Mark Wahlberg and Matt Damon should NEVER be compared in their acting skills…Matt Damon is a millions times better than marky mark…don’t get me wrong, I like wahlberg, but damon is a stratosphere ahead in the acting department…
Matt Damon is perfection.
He’s totally sexy. I don’t even mind him with the longer hair and a bit of weight. I’ll take him any which way.
I don’t agree, however, that he erased 10 years just by cutting his hair. He may look better with the short hair but he looks exactly the same age to me.
Damon has grown into his looks, very handsome. and turned out to be a very good actor, love his personal independent choices.
I can really take or leave hime, but you are right, he does look better. He looks fitter and younger. Maybe he has been on a health kick, exercising and drinking less booze.
I’ve never found him hot (‘Bourne’ maybe?), but agree that he’s the kind of boyish-looking guy whose looks improve with age. The haircut, fitter physique, and great suit look wonderful. Though I feel a little guilty about commenting on his physique since he once had an eating disorder–is it fair to say he looks healthier?
Much much better.
@Tracking, #27 … “Though I feel a little guilty about commenting on his physique since he once had an eating disorder–is it fair to say he looks healthier?”
(Blinks) When did Matt Damon have an eating disorder?? He has said in interviews that he really doesn’t see himself as a good looking ‘Leading Man’ actor. he sees himself as a character actor. He’s also a method actor, so he changes his look to fit the part.
For instance, he loss 50 lbs for his role as a heroin addict in the 1996 film “Courage Under Fire” because he thought it made his character more believable. He learned how to box and went on a stringent diet, eliminating nearly all body fat, for his role as Jason Bourne in order to mimmic the physique and fluid ease of movement fighters and martial artists have. He gained 35 lbs (and stopped exercising) for his role in the 2008 film “The Informant!” in order to give a more realistic portrayal of real life con man and former Daniels Midland Executive, Mark Whitacre. He only dropped a little weight for his role in “True Grit,” then he turned that weight into muscle and bulk for his role as a South African rugby player for Clint Eastwood in “Invictus.”
So the weight he’s at now isn’t necessarily sympathy weight, it’s just that he hasn’t lost all of the extra poundage he put on for “The Informant!” Mostly because the extra weight added to characters he’s played in three or four films since.
Matt Damon is also a true 5’10” tall … not the ‘Tom Cruise’ version of 5’10” (which he claimed for most of his acting career). Ben Affleck is 6’3″ tall, which will make nearly everyone look short. 🙂 And most of his co-starring actresses are tall (Julia Stiles is 5’8″ tall, and so is Angelina Jolie) so you can’t judge by their height either.
