Angelina Jolie’s Louis Vuitton ad preview: what’s up with her feet?

jolie1

Here is the first ad for Angelina Jolie’s newest ad campaign, for Louis Vuitton. Several months ago, it was announced/rumored that Jolie had signed on to a Vuitton campaign for a sum of around $10 million. Soon after, she and a few of her kids flew to Cambodia, where she was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for the campaign. I like the image a lot, I like how Jolie looks subdued and not fancy and made up. What I hate are her feet. She’s a beautiful woman with one glaring flaw that comes up in too many photo shoots – her feet are totally jacked and gigantic. It’s weird. Anyway, WWD got the preview of the campaign, plus an interview with some LV people:

She’s barefoot, wearing her own clothes, no makeup and toting her own elegantly weathered monogrammed Alto bag. Yet Angelina Jolie looks radiant and completely in her element, reclining on a wooden boat in a verdant, lakeside landscape in Cambodia’s Siem Reap province. Jolie discovered the country in 2000 when she filmed “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider,” and it sparked her humanitarian activism.

She’s the latest celebrity to pose for Louis Vuitton’s popular “Core Values” campaign — and surely the only one who brought four children to the photo shoot, some of whom had to be shooed out of Annie Leibovitz’s frame.

“People are not used to seeing Angelina in this situation,” said Pietro Beccari, Vuitton’s executive vice president, unveiling the image exclusively to WWD. “I like the fact that it’s a real moment. This travel message we give through personal journeys is a fundamental one for the brand.”

The ad is slated to break in the International Herald Tribune on Wednesday, followed by a range of news, general interest and lifestyle publications, including Vanity Fair.

Beccari declined to disclose budgets for the media buy, or comment on reports Vuitton paid the American actress millions for the shoot. He would only say Jolie donated an undisclosed portion of her fees to a charity.

The campaign is expected to run for at least 18 months alongside a few other recent “core values” personalities, including Bono and Sean Connery. Vuitton introduced the advertising concept in 2007 as a way to trumpet its travel roots and showcase its perennial monogrammed leather goods as a balance to its fashion-driven marketing — and to reach a broader audience. Other personalities who have posed for Vuitton include Mikhail Gorbachev, Keith Richards and Catherine Deneuve.

Also on Wednesday, Vuitton plans to post a teaser on its Web site, louisvuittonjourneys.com/cambodia, foreshadowing an interview with Jolie that will be posted later in the month. In it, she is expected to discuss how her visit to Cambodia was a life-changing experience, awakening her to the plight of Third World countries. She adopted her eldest son, Maddox, from Cambodia and she and husband Brad Pitt established the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation, which is active in community development and conservation in the country.

“This campaign is about a very special person and a very special journey,” Beccari said.

And a storied handbag. Beccari showed off several paparazzi shots of Jolie toting the Alto carryall, which is believed to be at least six years old. The style is no longer in production, but “we are considering to re-edit it,” Beccari noted.

[From WWD]

This dude is probably talking about these photos of Angelina and Brad shopping for Shiloh’s fifth birthday party, in which Angelina’s LV bag can be seen. I have to admit, I’m not a tremendous fan of LV’s monogrammed pieces, BUT I like the idea of this ad campaign, and I think it’s done very well. I just wish I wasn’t focusing on her feet so much.

  1. You don't say says:

Hey, she wears a size nine, same as mine, but her’s are skinny, mine are wide. Not everyone has size five fairy feet. Don’t care about LV bags myself, but like the story behind these ads with the spokespersons, and she has used the bags for years (others too though).

  2. Lisa Turtle says:

GORGEOUS! If I could afford it, I would buy the bag just for the image. Keep them coming Angie!

  3. jinni says:

I wish photgraphers would stop photoshopping their pics to death. This pic looks like it’s a CGI version of Angie. What’s wrong with people actually looking like humans and not cartoons or paintings in pics anymore?

Anyway, the pics are nice. My attention isn’t really drawn to the bag or Angie but to the background, so I don’t know how effective these ads will be in selling the bags. It kind of looks like it’s trying to get me to visit Cambodia than sell me a purse.

Also, her feet don’t look that big, to me anyways. Besides, isn’t she supposed to be tall and don’t tall people usually have big feet?

  4. Kaiser says:

I have size nine feet too, but Angie’s feet are so jacked!

  5. Shay says:

Ah those executives make me laugh.
    “It’s a real moment”.
The LV bag she has in the ad will probably end up being in the upper price range, once they ‘update’ or ‘edit’ it. So how is that a real moment for most poor people in Cambodia?
Seriously, it’s not just Jolie’s feet that are ‘jacked’, it’s also her logic.
She sells herself as some kind of mother Teresa and there she is as the face of yet another Louis Vuitton campaign. Hypocrisy?
As for their core values campaign. What BS.
LV is just an elitist label and most of the people in these campaigns have hypocritical values. Take Bono as a chief example. He is a tax evader. How about U2 paying their taxes (taxes that would go toward providing for social costs) rather than taking their funds offshore?

I never thought I’d think it, but Angelina is beginning to annoy me with her BS mother teresa image.
More like she grabs multi millions whenever she can, donates for tax breaks, just so she can pay for her army of nannies so her image as a ‘super mom’ is reinforced.

    Meh.

    You bet.
Does she really need the money?

  6. Cherry says:

‘She’s barefoot, wearing her own clothes, no makeup…’ I’ll buy the wearing her own clothes-part, as these are totally the baggy oversized bag pants that she usually wears, but no makeup?? HELLO?? She is obviously heavily made up, with lots of eye make up (eyeliner ahoy) and rather creepy looking flesh-colored lipstick. Also, is she dying her hair again or is it a wig? I thought she was going back to her natural blonde shade lately, which I thought looked lovely and much more ‘soft’ on her. Shame.

  7. Addie says:

She looks beautiful and like she is in her element with the non-fussy clothes, minimal make-up and hair stuff and beautiful yet slightly Lord of the Rings backround.

Funny, I hardly noticed the bag.

  8. TRT says:

GODESS! Love her. I would also buy the bag just for the image. (just normal feet, absolutely nothing wrong with them)

  9. tracking says:

Is the wan, listless woman in an awkward pose purporting to be Angelina Jolie? To me the art design doesn’t look subdued and contemplative in a good way, but lifeless, plastic, and inauthentic. But that is appropriate for the whole LV product placement in third-world countries ad campaign.

  10. crab says:

Never mind the feet, what’s up with the duck lips? Even in the LV photo she’s sporting the duck lips!

  11. azurea says:

    No make-up, my ass!

  12. Bite me says:

The picture that the spOkerperdon is talking about is mostly likely a couple of years old… Being s true angieloonie that I am I remember she used to carry a lv bag all the damn time when she was pregnant with Shiloh

  13. olivia says:

to go all the way around the globe to Cambodia for… THIS?!

well, they wasted money, wasted time, and create another ozone hole by flying their jet on the round trip…The ad looks inauthentic on every level. Just like her.

  14. Lenore says:

No make-up they say? *looks again* Her eyelids are naturally black, then? I love how “no make-up” is a cute marketing euphemism – what it means is “no lipstick, not glam, still wearing a ton of pancake”.

And sorry to disagree but I think she looks terrible in that ad shot – zombiefied, cross-eyed, one droopy eyelid, and her mouth just looks…odd. Like a bad Angelina drag act. And I normally find her stunning (albeit in need of a sandwich).

  15. DD says:

The background is beautiful, I don’t see anything wrong with her feet. What I think is missing in the photo is Angelina’s essence. She doesn’t look like her strikingly beautiful self, which is unfortunate. Maybe it’s all the natural beauty surrounding her.

  16. macey says:

I dont think her feet look that big or jacked. She has super skinny calves and ankles which may make them seem bigger depending on the angle. Ive seen other pics of her barefoot and her feet werent ‘ugly’ at all.
I wear the same size and have the same problem. I used to wear anklet socks all the time just to camouflage it a bit.

  17. Adnovitam says:

Only a bloke would say she’s wearing no makeup.

  18. bc says:

Who would carry LV on a boat in Cambodia?

  19. Reality says:

“She’s barefoot, wearing her own clothes, no makeup and toting her own elegantly weathered monogrammed Alto bag”

What utter bullshit. The ad looks good, but like hell she’s wearing no make-up. Like she was just sitting their chilling with the natives while rocking her tacky monogrammed bag, when a roving National Geographic photographer happened to drop by. Please.

  20. LOVE ANGELINA says:

Maybe you have a secret thing for feet. LOL. There is nothing wrong with her feet. I seriously don’t see anything wrong with her feet, when people say they see something wrong with something I do look and try to get on their page no matter the topic…they aren’t even the focal point of the picture for me. The amazing scenery, the serene, calm look on Angelina’s extraordinary face and then you see this Louis V bag. I think it was a brilliant idea on LV’s part to give Angelina creative lease with the photo shoot. Smart move. It gives LV more depth. The picture almost looks like a painting.

  21. Quest says:

Are you kidding me… Angie’s feet look long in that photo. Maybe too much photoshop or maybe because of he weight. But the photo itself – absolutely lovely

  22. Luci says:

I love annie leivobitz, she’s great, but lately she’s going overboard with the photoshop.
You have the world’s most beautiful scenery and actress!! You don’t need to photoshop!

  23. tapioca says:

Photoshop out the bag and it would be a beautiful picture!

Unfortunately it looks more like an illustration from an editorial about all the South-East Asian sweatshop workers that get a dollar a day to make high-end luxury goods.

  24. happy feet says:

My feet are smaller but wider- I like her feet better! Angelina isn’t ashamed to have big feet or long, veiny arms, which makes her even sexier- she OWNS who she is, “flaws” & all. Besides, over the past decade of UN work, she has seen SO MANY people (even kids) who have had their feet and other parts chopped off, she probably feels grateful to have feet, even if others think they are ugly. Quite frankly, I don’t know how she does it- I have trouble looking at pictures of such atrocities, much less seeing them firsthand- so sad.

  25. Lee says:

No makeup my ass. That said, it’s a lovely picture. Kaiser, what do you mean “jacked feet”? I’m not arguing the point, I really just don’t know.

  26. guesty says:

    Such a dichotomy.

  27. constance says:

I agree. The PS is so heavy it looks green screened. I thought it was a set-up image until the post said it was done in Cambodia. The colour scheme and lighting just look synthetic. I’m surprised AL and LV chose a picture where the subject weight focuses on the background flora and not AJ.

It comes off looking very contrived and unnatural.

  28. Love the bag because of the size. Get off Angie’s back, she is human afterall and everything about her dont have to be freaking perfect. Love her all d same, hmmmmn jacked gigantic feet my a**

  29. anneesezz says:

“No makeup?” Are her eyelids naturally charcoal gray? Come on people! Please take her down off the pedestal.

  30. dorothy says:

I really don’t see a problem with her feet. They are in porportion with her height.

  31. darcara says:

kinda cool- it does look like a painting! She’s been photographed by so many top photographers so many times, but I think the pictures Brad took of her were the best at capturing her true “essence”.

  32. SillyOne says:

Is the photo suppose to have a “real” affect or is it suppose to have an animated look to it? Everything looks “cartoony” to me.

  33. Ramona Q. says:

Pardon me for perhaps being a lil graphic, but I noticed that the folds of the cloth of her pants in the crotch area look just like labia, clitoris and vaginal opening. Um … ? Am I crazy?

Oh, and that’s not the same bag in the pap shots – there is no tan leather on the side like in the ad.

  34. Tara says:

Give me a break! $10 million to shoot this crap ad? How pathetic when most people in Cambodia probably couldn’t tell you what a Vuitton bag looks like. She could have told the compnay “Look, just pay for my travel thee and amenities and donate the rest to Cambodian orphans”

And who are we kidding nomake-up? She looks like a totally creeped out computer version of herself. The mortician called – he wants his wax back.

  35. teri says:

Angelina is so damn sexy, just love her!
Her feet IMO are fine and don’t look huge or jacked up like Kaiser said. Still waiting for Angelina to write another book, any news on her writing anymore? They are so generous so it comes to no surprise she will donate on behalf of her work.

  36. lrm says:

yea i dont get what’s wrong with her feet either? they look fine-i like solid looking athletic feet anyway-it makes people look more grounded, and i like that look.

this photo is interesting-like they are going for both contemplative and wild/untamed at the same time, tying it in with the earth and going green/connecting with nature.

    blah.
it’s all so trendy and lame now-the green matrix…..but this photo also seems like they are trying way to hard to appeal to too many different demographics.

i am completely unattracted to name brands and esp anything with a logo on it. At the same time, I appreciate the lines of the bag and the craftsmanship of many high end product.s I just would never buy them b/c i think the logos are tacky and scream nouveau riche.
Just me. To each his own….
But it’s quite interesting-the implication of the photo-thru your untamed self, you will find enlightenment. That’s of course exactly what AJ seems to represent to many people….as an iconic image.

I’m not a fan or a foe of her life or persona-but i will readily admit that she is without a doubt iconic by n ow.
She is pretty sucky as an actress though, IMO.

  37. Justalark says:

OMG, Angie’s feet are PERFECTLY NORMAL!

I am 5’7″ and a size 4 with naturally lanky limbs (built similarly to Angie). I wear an 8.5 shoe–not unusually big for my height– but my feet are narrow, so they look longer than they actually are. My fingers/hands look long, too, because they are on the bony side.

I always feel for Angie when people say she looks unhealthy or emaciated–believe me, it’s a body type! Like Angie, I am also fairly busty, but my arms, legs, ankles, wrists, etc. are always thin. my BMI is in the normal range, I eat a very wholesome, vegetarian diet, and I get lots of exercise, but I’m sure the more critical bloggers would probably label me “anorexic” or a “heroin addict” if they met me!

Overweight women are always saying they love their “curves” (and it’s PC in America to cut them a break), so why aren’t we more supportive of naturally slim women with “bones?” LOL

  38. Tara says:

Give me a break! $10 million to shoot this crap ad? How pathetic when most people in Cambodia probably couldn’t tell you what a Vuitton bag looks like. She could have told the compnay “Look, just pay for my travel thee and amenities and donate the rest to Cambodian orphans”

And who are we kidding no make-up? She looks like a totally creeped out Lara Croft. The mortician called – he wants his wax back.

  39. teri says:

Ramona I think your eyes are playing with you.

  40. khaveman says:

Pretty but odd setup. It looks like a paiting but seems creepy. She looks gorgeous. Girlfriend won the gene lottery.

  41. LadyJane says:

If she is not wearing any makeup in that ad then I am the Man in the Moon.

  42. teri says:

I’d love to see the before and after picture, just because she’s so perfect in my eyes. I don’t see alot of airbrushing.

  43. nicky27 says:

Oh honey, really? “her feet are totally jacked and gigantic”? Come on now. The girl’s got perfectly acceptable normal feet, I’d even go as far as to say they look pretty nice. Tall girls have big feet, it’s the way God intended. Get over yourself…

  44. Solveig says:

Her feet look ok to me, it’s her skinny legs that makes the feet look bigger than they actually are.
I like the shoot, but I really hate the photoshop, too much photoshop. Will they ever stop to alter every darn picture?
I would love to know who does go on a boat, in Cambodia (or in Africa for that matter) carrying a Vuitton bag, though.

Ps: this shot reminds me of a picture, a famous painting whose title I can’t remember, and I can’t either remember the name of its painter.

    LOL
Yes, things like that, this constant need to make the celebrities look like mere mortals, it’s what I hate of this a**kissing campaigns.

  45. Stephie says:

I don’t see anything wrong with her feet and I think she looks pretty good in the ad (not anorexic looking as in some shots).

  46. bc says:

khaveman: more like a good plastic surgeon

  47. nnn says:

The scenery is good but i don’t understand why they had to put too much photoshop, especially if they wanted to put a natural feeling in it.

  48. teri says:

Darcara, I agree Brad’s picture taking of Angelina were beautiful.

  49. HannahG says:

Urgh….this is just awful. No make-up. And he clearly was talking about that photo because he mentions the boat.

I also hate that if this was a certain somebody else in the photo the entire article would focus on all the negative things we can clearly see in this one. But no, Angie, is constantly let of the hook. There is nothing real about this photo except it’s fakeness.

  50. Maritza says:

That’s a beautiful photo of her, her feet don’t look bad at all. I’m sure they photoshopped the veins on her feet as well as her arm.

  51. tracking says:

    @SillyOne
Agreed. Didn’t AL shoot those Disney ads? Because that’s what this looks like. Maybe she mixed up her clients.

  52. imabrat says:

She’s not the kind of person that fits well in a natural setting. Hardly anything about Jolie looks natural.

    She’s more industrial.

  53. Jackson says:

I’m not seeing any weirdness with her feet. IDK, they look fine to me. The bag is just ordinary, big and plain. Then again, I’m not into purses or bags or whatever they’re supposed to be called.

  54. angelikap says:

They look normal to me. Wouldn’t it look weird if they were any smaller?

  55. shockedandappalled says:

“No Makeup” my ass. She is wearing loads of makeup. What a stupid thing to write.

  56. Eve says:

    Gorgeous, as always.

  57. Chrissy says:

I think it’s a beautiful ad but like someone else mentioned … you don’t even notice the bag. And isn’t product placement an important aspect of marketing?? (As someone who wears a size 11 -gasp! – I think her feet look great!) :0)

  58. LindaR says:

Her feet are fine. No weird bones protruding, esthetically pleasing. She would look odd with those long skinny legs and short stubby feet. She is a very pretty woman. Now Paris Hilton with her size 11’s that’s ugly. Those are bigass ugly feet. Just like Paris.

  59. Mia says:

Kaiser, honey, I love you, but those are normal looking feet.

The ad is beautiful, but I barely noticed the bag.

  60. jen says:

    No makeup-LMAO!

  61. MorticiansDoItDeader says:

@Tara “The mortician called – he wants his wax back.”

hey! Some of us are ladies ; P

  62. Crash2GO2 says:

I don’t see anything wrong with her feet. But I don’t care for the ad.

  63. folly says:

    gorgeous,she look absolutely beautiful

  64. lisa says:

Wow.. so let’s see people are attacking her feet and that someone else said she was not wearing makeup.. oh and that she got paid to the ad. Just like every other celeb that does an endorcement. OH and of course the Nanny police are out with their tired tired tired rants.

The ad is beautiful. She didn’t take the picture. She posed. If you don’t like how it turned out then talk smack about Annie.

Seriously there are over 50+ comments about this ONE PICTURE.

Well Angie still has it.. she can drive some people insane without a word.

LMAO at some of the silly rants and criticisms. Grasping for straws.

  65. Julie says:

Yeah, I don’t see a feet issue. Beautiful pic.

  66. Ell says:

I don’t think they’ve done her justice at all. The effect on the pic is poor, that could be any random model. Shame as the idea was good but they’ve messed with her face too much.

  67. someone says:

Didn’t notice the bag at all, her feet are huge, and this looks more like a painting of Jolie..

  68. gamblea says:

“and she and HUSBAND Brad Pitt established the Maddox Jolie-Pitt Foundation”

that’s all I saw. Cute about the kids, they could have let them in on it, backs turned to the camera.

  69. Cheyenne says:

ROFL @ Kaiser, you got a foot fetish or what? They look like normal size 9 feet to me.

That was a dumb comment by WWD about no makeup. Of course she’s wearing makeup but she looks damn good as usual.

  70. original kate says:

    1. angelina’s feet look fine

    2. she is wearing a shitload of makeup. are you people blind? she is also photoshopped into oblivion, for some reason.

    3. i hate accessories that are so monogrammed. i don’t need to be a walking billboard for some crap designer.

  71. KLaw says:

Cambodians know what LV is – I bought my first and last fake LV in a small-town Cambodian market. It was an excellent copy – looked just like the real thing, only it broke the first time I used it. I swore never to buy fake bags again, and I have kept that oath for over 10 years. The entire concept bothers me. Why carry an ugly fake bag just to appear wealthier or more important?

I am aware that the real LV bags are of outstanding quality, and that is the reason to make the investment and buy one. It lasts FOREVER. But I dislike the concept of buying one just for the status symbol.

  72. KLaw says:

Oh, and small feet are overrated! I am almost 6 feet tall and I have size 9 feet (quite small for my height). I am constantly off balance in my high heels and hoping not to twist my ankle beyond repair or fall into a giant hole, never to be seen again. I almost fell off the runway when I was a runway model, and that moment still brings me terrible flashbacks!

  73. mymy says:

I think this photo captures her totally. IN a sort of elite way.The irony of it all. Doing an add in a country were the average person earns less than the cost of the purse a year. She should have passed on this angle. But she is the sort of person that see’s such suffering yet buys he daughter mini expensive hand bag.
    Beyond self indulgent

  74. irena NL says:

I think her feet are healthy for a long and lanky woman. At least they’re not all cramped up and deformed from wearing silly vanity heels. Admire AJ in so many ways.

  75. annoyed says:

The feet are the smallest problem.

That whole campaign is ugly. Luxury brand in Cambodia using a tabloid queen which proclaims she is humanitarian ?

Double standard, LV and Angie go away.

  76. nnn says:

    @ 72 Klaw

    I wore a size 8 and am 5’8.5″ tall.
I have a friend who wore a size 7 for 5’9″ and it looks weird and she is teased for having small feet compared to her height. She doesn’t like wearing flats or flat heels because it makes it more obvious, so she wears stilletoes and shoes that are really pointy to ‘gain one or two inches.

Many top models, especially from the US have big feet. Cindy Crawford is notoriously known for wearing a size 10 sometimes 10.5 and she is 5’9 1/2″.

It’s really no big deal and normal for tall women!

  77. whitedaisy says:

What is she, 5’7″ or 5’8″? Her feet look normal-sized and healthy to me.

  78. Sakyiwaa says:

Wow. this is gonna look amazing in a glossy mag. i think it’s an honest portrayal of what she wanted to do…
i can still see her neck bones and her arms are still thin. lol. the LV bag is completely over-shadowed by AJ and the scenery. her legs look like her legs. i don’t see ‘jacked’. Haha… what would a ‘jacked’ leg look like anyway.
I love it. the entire ad looks like nothing I’ve ever seen… that’s Angie!

  79. nnn says:

    @ Annoyed

She doesn’t proclaim she is a humanitarian, she is !

Bill Gates’ Michrosoft had problems with the European Commission for incorporating in its package a software to kill the competition and keep its pole position to sell its products.

Bill Gates the number one philantropist in the world came himself to negotiate the taxes he had to pay for illegal capitalistic dumping manouvers.

His company makes more money than the whole Hollywood, using cheap labor in India during the chain of production besides.

Bill Gates made his fortune not by playing goody goody byut by being a tough capitalist. That doesn’t erase the fact thet he is still the biggest philantropist giving back some of what he has made.

The two are not exclusive, mind you. It often goes both ways since the wealthier are the biggest contributors and usually have made money through capitalistis acts.

And i rather be Jolie being paid 10 millions for that that being someone else selling my home 4 times the prize i bought it 2 years ago like i needed that amount of money, or some other filfy rich people who have no problems being paid millions with public funds made on the back of its suffering people to entertain a dicator and are never questioned for it.

  80. Hmmm says:

Her feet look absolutely fine to me. And I’m one of those with size 6 “fairy feet”. LOL

  81. Glyrics says:

Maybe she gives the money to charity. She and Brad are the most charitable, ditto Sandra Bullock. Even the Microsoft peeps who have a foundation for charity make their grants well known.
Yet Spielberg who is a BILLIONAIRE does not. Don’t tell me he’s private. He named a wing at a hospital after his parents(?) And the fact that he gifted Kate with a Mercedes for every day of the week. Mixed signals there.

  82. Eve says:

I don’t see anything wrong with her feet…they’re veiny, like her hands. That’s all.

About her feet’s size: my own feet are a way too small so I don’t think I can say if people’s feet are too big or normal sized. Compared to mine, they are all huge.

*I usually wear a size 4. When I want bigger shoes, those that allow me to wear thick socks (like sneakers), I buy a size 5. However, I have three pairs of Havaianas flip flops (different models) that show a size 3 on each one of them.

  83. Cherry says:

@Ramona Q ZOMG you’re totally right, I see it too! That cannot be an accident, can it? It has to be on purpose, right? You reckon it’s some kind of joke…?

  84. KLaw says:

@nnn Thanks for the stories – I think my small feet issues are compounded by the fact that my arches are so high that I have virtually no footprint – hence the balance problems. Crawford’s 10 or 10.5’s aren’t so bad, really. I’ve seen some huge feet on some very skinny models.

I think Jolie’s feet only look so big because the rest of her is so darn tiny (skinny)!

@Eve Size 3 is a real size?! You really do have “fairy feet”!

  85. Eve says:

    @ Klaw:

@Eve Size 3 is a real size?! You really do have “fairy feet”!

So it says my Havaianas flip flops. This brand has become famous in Europe and in the US so they’re exported (also, almost every single tourist that comes here visits shops searching for them — that’s why they show three measurements on its insoles: Brazilian, American and European).

I was shocked when I saw it too, although I shouldn’t have been since I’ve had problems to find shoes that fit my whole life. And that I had bought shoes in the “for kids” section of stores. My shoe size went up only three sizes since I was 11 years old (I’m 5’2″).

But most of the time (closed in shoes), my shoe size is 4.

P.S.: Funny fact — most people wear hand-me-down shoes from their older relatives, right? It has happened the opposite with me: my niece’s feet were growing too fast so my sister bought her a new pair of black/white Chucks (while her previous pair was still relatively new) and gave me the “old” ones. Now not even that happens anymore — her used shoes are much bigger than what I could wear anyway.

  86. Idk says:

I like it. Cambodia looks amazing. I think Angelina is promoting Cambodia more than she’s promoting the bag. LoL it does look like a painting though very pretty. People here hate her sooo much it’s funny.

  87. TeeTee says:

for once I see nothing wrong w/her feet or her.

they don’t look ot have bunions or corny.

Have you seen Katie Holmes’s feet they are wretched.

I wear a size 9, so maybe that’s why they look normal to me, just thin.

  88. really says:

    loving it!

  89. ESL says:

Darcara & teri- I TOTALLY agree Brad’s pictures of Angie were so beautiful & special- you could almost see & certainly feel his love for her in each photo! About the no make-up thing- maybe the guy mispoke or was mis-understood. By the name, he could be ESLer, or maybe somebody got crazy with Google translation, which can often completely change the meaning of a blurb (different pronouns, sexes, a yes where a no should be, etc.)

  90. nan says:

I think she’s beautiful. Inside and out….she’s beautiful.

  91. Koretz says:

I think the ad is ridiculous.

A movie star with a thousand-dollar (or more) bag sitting on a jacked up boat in the middle of a swamp in a third world country?

What is this ad supposed to say?

“Flaunt your wealth in third world countries!”

  92. lucy2 says:

I don’t see anything wrong with her feet.
The photo is interesting, but highly photoshopped. Why pay celebs millions if they are barely recognizable?
I don’t care for LV as a brand, and the marketing idea of using struggling third world countries as a backdrop for overpriced luxury luggage ads doesn’t sit well with me. I’m sure they’re not the first to do it, but it just seems contradictory.

  93. toto says:

they said at bossip that the whole money is going for chairity ..as the core value … like bono shean conray ,,and others ..which is great news ..

  94. albeli says:

Her feet look fine and proportionate to me–and I have size 5 “fairy feet.”

  95. Eye Opener says:

I wish she would just STFU!!! Hyprocrite!!! 1 million dollars a year to care for her “unkempt” kids is proof enough this womans a fake!!! If she really cared she would be living off 1 million a year just for her entire brood!!! She is using this for gain of attention and less tax payments!!! BE WISE PEOPLE!!! Her feet, legs, arms and hands are ALL THE EVIDENCE I need to know she is a WITCH!!

  96. Eleonor says:

I can only check too much photoshop.

  97. Lucky Charm says:

@ KLaw – what you said about having small feet reminds me of what my daughter has told me before. I’m over 5’10” and wear size 8 shoes. (Actually one foot is even slightly smaller) and I’m a big klutz. My daughter has laughingly said it’s because my feet are too small for my height. I rarely wear high heels because I’m afraid that I’ll fall right off them! And forget ever getting a pair of shoes in my size when they go on sale if I’m not at the store right when they open.

  98. Hollowdoll says:

She looks like she has no leg muscle. Her calf looks almost the same as her arm to me. Her face has been airbrushed and it’s obvious she’s wearing make up. Who are they kidding? I miss the old Angelina Jolie. Oh well.

  99. Kim123 says:

Eye opener put down your bible- InTouch Weekly the tabloid that hasn’t had a true story about this family in years and made up the $1M story. Nice pic although I’m not a fan of Annie prefer Mario Testino. I’m glad AJ decided to shoot in Cambodia so more people will be exposed to the country.Maybe an increase in tourism. Angie donated her fee from St John’s to charity and also is donating an undisclosed amount from LV fee to charity. As for her feet they look fine to me. Its amazing 100 comments about 1 pic the power of Angelina. The JP family is in Malta right now for Brad’s film $100 M film World War Z. Tree of Life is doing great . All is good.

  100. Codzilla says:

@Lucky Charm: I’m 5’8″, wear a size 11.5, and I’m also a total klutz. Maybe I have the reverse problem? Feet too big for my height? I’ve always wondered about that. My fingers are extra long, too, and I’m forever knocking things over — glasses, bottles, you name it. Honestly, though, I’d rather be in your position, because finding shoes to fit these hooves is a nightmare — they’re extra narrow, too, so that just compounds the problem.

  101. Micki says:

It was tiring reading today, why isn’t there a poll where to klick: Make-up Y/N or jacked feet Y/N instead of reading variations of it over and over again

  102. 4Real says:

I like the ad…and the BAG!

  103. Kimble says:

Every 2nd woman in Asia has a knock off LV bag so you see them everywhere. Maids, street vendors, tweens in malls!

I wouldn’t be seen dead with one for that reason – have seen too many on sale for 10 dollar!

  104. joe says:

    I love her feets
    they’re look like uma’s feets

  105. WhiteNoise says:

Haven’t the energy to wade through the comments but her hair and face look frozen and totally out of kilter with the pose, the rest of her body and the backdrop. No motion, no movement, no hint of animation whatsoever. It’s just so… lifeless and focusless. And I hate that ugly bag.

Her feet are fine though. 🙂

  106. skibunny says:

The background is beautiful but Jolie looks like a trashed doll. She has lost all her sexiness. That bag may as well not even be in the photo.

  107. Franny says:

I don’t think Kaiser was referring to her feet being too long…its that weird bump at the ankle that makes them look funny.

Also, she totally has a wonky eye in this picture, but that’s probably due to the extreme photoshopping.

  108. Kim says:

A real moment? plleeaassee! Nothing about Louis Vuitton says real. Its for rich people. And No makeup?? Lets not be ridiculous. She has a TON of makeup on in the ad.

  109. beautiful says:

wow- she looks gorgeous, simple, but gorgeous. Her feet look fine, pretty even, if you aren’t prejudiced against feet that are “bigger”. I, too, think it is wonderful that she is bringing more attention to Cambodia. She & Brad have worked very hard there w/ land mine removal, elephants, HIV positive kids getting an education & the Maddox Jolie Pitt center

  110. k says:

I have size 11 feet, so maybe cut her some slack

  111. Yoco says:

Lovely pic the background looks like a painting. More pics and video on the 15th. New Pics of Brad in Malta he has that darn beard again.

  112. mew says:

Oh WOW at the amount of PHOTOSHOPPING!!! Jeez….

  113. Zzzzzzzzz says:

There’s nothing wrong with her feet. What are people seeing??? She looks lovely, as usual.

  114. Solveig says:

I was watching the picture again, trying to figure out what painting it reminds me of, to no avail and then I saw the feet. I mean, I really SAW them and as I was staring at them I thought that actually they do look weird. LOL
Feet aside, it comes to my mind that the Branges few years ago bought a Banksy’s graffiti that portrays a bunch of obese people surrounded by starving African children. It’s funny how that graffiti is a mirror of this ad: a luxury brand in the middle of one of the poorest countries.

  115. Annie_Grey says:

I have skinny size 9-10 feet. Almost impossible to find shoes that fit.

  116. suggabugga says:

    hobbit feet!

  117. mln76 says:

Just have to laugh at all the controversy this woman causes…The pics are good but she takes better candids, and yeah loved the W photoshoot pics Brad took of her where she definitely wasn’t wearing any makeup and was stunning as always.

  118. Lucky Charm says:

@ Codzilla – thanks to my grandma, my dad and his family all have long, narrow feet (but at least he didn’t start going grey until mid-40’s). My mom is 5’8″ and wears regular 8.5 but she went grey really young. I’ve always said that I’m thankful I got my mom’s feet and my dad’s hair instead of the other way around, LOL!

  119. Bill Hicks is God says:

I recall reading elsewhere she didn’t believe in taking photographs when travelling…of course, UNLESS SHE’S GETTING PAID.

Shilling designer bags against the backdrop of a country that has seen one of the biggest genocides in history and still hasn’t recovered. Unbelievable.

She’s shameless. Moreover, how stupid she must think we all are.

  120. Amanda G says:

Um, she has big feet? So what? How exactly are they “jacked?” There’s nothing she can do about it anyway.

  121. lin234 says:

What a great picture. LV was already going to find a star to promote their brand and I’d rather Angie do it than someone who doesn’t give back to the world.

I’m a luxury handbag lover honestly LV is more reasonably priced for a luxury handbag than chanel or hermes. Chanel now retails around 4500 a classic bag not including tax. Hermes can reach over ten grand a pop. LV averages around 1200-1500 for a canvas bag. Leather LV goes 2-4 grand. So yes, why LV is luxury and expensive for the average person, it’s a bag that’s made to last quite a long time. The canvas is very hardy so that’s why LV is promoting it as a great bag to have while traveling.

Fake bags are a big NO NO not because I care about billion dollar companies but because little kids usually make them under horrible conditions and the people who profit are usually gangs and whatnot. In fact there was a story about how kids get their legs broken permanently so they can’t play and can only stay in one place to make bags.

At least she’s promoting a company that gives fair wages and has skilled workers that work under reasonable conditions. Sometimes that’s all you can ask for when it comes to celebrities. The amount they earn is nothing compared to the billionaires in those super poor countries who exploit the poor to buy their super yachts and billion dollar homes. I’d rather be more outraged at that.

Oh, and the bag in the LV ad is a different one than the one she has with Brad. The handles are a dark brown which patinas over time and use. The bag below is new. These were most likely free for her.

  122. likeyaalotttt says:

    *Time out.*

Of course she’s wearing makeup; one can clearly see her eyes are super dark up to the brow. Also, I don’t understand the juxtaposition of a poverty-stricken country as the background for an overpriced “luxury” material good. And YES — L-Vs ARE OVERPRICED, no matter how you explain it away. Most people on this Earth barely have rice to eat, let alone a ridiculous canvas bag to carry.

  123. Katherine M. says:

Seriously, Kaiser, what is your issue here? Her feet look perfectly normal. Maybe you need to look around more at other peoples’ dogs. LOL!

I do agree with you in that the ad looks great and natural. No matter how old she gets she will always have that bone structure and those eyes.

The whole idea of this ad campaign is that travel unlocks new worlds for you and you have to be adventurous enough to get out there and explore the world away from typical tourist destinations.

You know when you are on the go as much as Jolie is and you do more than sit on your butt, you need real feet and not putzy little play feet. Just sayin’.

  124. kira says:

I love the background–it reminds me of traveling in Southeast Asia. Her feet are actually not that big–it’s just her legs are so thin that it makes her feet look large and strange. Kind of hobbit-like, unfortunately. 🙂

And I do know that Jolie has given millions and millions of dollars to Cambodia and adopted her son from there, so maybe that’s why they did the photos there? Because the place has significance to her? I think her strategy is to use the people buying these luxury goods to generate cash for charities. At least, I know she did that with the Dynasty-style, 80’s-inspired jewelry line. Rich people will buy expensive, over-priced goodies anyways, why not use it for something good? I hope she donates some of that 10 mill back into the country.

  125. Katherine M. says:

    likeyaalotttt

    *Chill out.*

She may have some eye make-up but so what? But maybe not – it could be the photo shadowing. It seems they mean the typical overdone facial make-up you see adorning celebs in ads. She looks very natural.

And spare us the umbrage. Cambodia has a growing economy though obviously has a long way to go following its years of war. Of all people to criticize in this vein, you choose one of the foreigners working to improve the conditions in the Cambodian rural areas.

I am sure all segments of Cambodia are damn proud of this ad and what it depicts of this beautiful country. Perhaps they would like to shed the image of themselves as some poor, undesirable country to visit.

Kudos to Angelina Jolie for making this her LV ad destination country. Hope it attracts all kinds of interest.

  126. Muffy says:

I’m sorry, I have just never seen her as a beauty, when I see her I can’t help but think AFLAC. And I know she does a lot of humanitarian work, and for that I respect her, but she ain’t Mother Teresa and I agree with others who point of the hypocracy of her doing these ads, I can’t imagine schlepping around in nature with a 5,000.00 purse casually slung over my shoulder, doesn’t seem natural to me, imo.

  127. June says:

    She looks manly here

  128. Lucky Charm says:

    @ Bill Hicks is God:
She was referring to PERSONAL, FAMILY photos when they travel. She said that she’s so busy enjoying the sights that she forgets to take pictures since Brad always takes the photos, and therefore he’s in very few himself.

This picture is from a JOB she is contracted to do. It’s a photo shoot for an ad campaign. A job and a family vacation are two different things. Except for What’s her name who has to pose naked or in just a mens jacket and underpants, or reality tv “stars”, most people don’t invite the photogs or get paid to get their pictures taken while on vacation.

  129. Katherine M. says:

I’m sorry I should just let all this go but really are people this clueless about economics and the developing world or are they once again just using one more thing to get in some digs at Angelina Jolie?

How do you think poor countries become rich countries? How do you think poor people climb out of poverty?

They have to attract money and investments into their economy through corporate investment, tourism, etc. Natural resources can obviously play a role but so, too, do people with money who can afford travel to Cambodia and those are the people being targeted in this ad. But then I suppose if we go by your “outrage” Cambodia shouldn’t have built any nice or luxury hotels for tourists to stay in. And, lordy, let’s tear down all those nice stores and restaurants. Give me a break.

But I do get it: the usual buzz words and talking points have been well covered by the detractors.

PS Some facts if anyone prefers them to tabloid nonsense. That purse is not $5,000. It cost about $1100 brand new and she was carrying that same bag throughout her pregnancy with Shiloh starting in late 2005.

More fact: Jolie did not buy her daughter a mini-copy of her designer bag. The designer stated when they saw her with their bag, their workers wanted to gift Zahara with a fake leather child size copy. That’s what you saw.

  130. mln76 says:

Ignorance and jealousy really turns people into blathering idiots.

  131. Annie_Grey says:

Bill Hicks-You’ve got a good point.

  132. Louise says:

I don’t understand why Kaiser is attacking Angelina’s feet either. But when it comes to Angelina, people come up with the lamest excuses to hate on her including that because she gives to charity she has no business doing this ad. Yet nobody has a problem with other actors doing ads.

  133. lisa says:

    @annie-grey

YEP right on the top of his uneducated and uniformed head..

YOU never hear all this silly indignation when it is another celebrity. Jlo, Madonna, Sean C, Bono and many more have done these promotions. Not to mention all the other celeb women that are the face of countless ad campaigns. Hmmmm never hear anyone complaining about what they do with all that money they make. Never a word or negative at the celebrities we see every day out shopping or wearing every designer whatever. Never a concern for their lack of humanitarian efforts. Or how people will sit at a computer screen and analyze every inch of any picture of her. Talking about her feet. Just beyond pathetic. Plus Angie was not the one saying she was not wearing make up. It is not as if we have not see her without makeup. In fact to me she looks more beautiful if possible in her candid shots without makeup. which I will say she has NEVER been afraid to be photographed without a stitch of it.

And where is it written that because you have money and want to give back that you have to live in a tent or hut to prove to the naysayers that you are committed. She has been doing this for over 10 years. Her and Brad’s charity has been investigated because anyone with a brain knows that if there were a hint of something wrong the HATERS would be all over it. YET you have never read anything about their charity activities being anything but above board. NO Tax scandals like so many. BUT that is not reported.. She and Brad have a right to enjoy the money they earn just like
    JLO
    Celine
    Beyonce
    Gaga
    George C
    Sandra B
    Madonna
    Gwen
    Victoria B
    Oprah
    Bill G
    Steven S
    Ron Howard
    Tom Hanks
    Ellen
    Oprah
    Barbara S
    Leo D
and to many to name. Go and talk about them flying around in jets, buying cars and traveling all over the world. Talk about the many, many homes they own.

yeah.. I bet there won’t be a word..

  134. carrie says:

1:the ad looks fake and overphotoshopped
2:i hate when rich people do commercials:it’s easy money
3: her feets are normal for me
4: the photo op with Pitt is so overacted: come on! Pitt/Jolie in the street together casual but smart to buy birthday’s stuff

  135. lin234 says:

@Katherine M- Finally a voice of reason! Who cares about her feet when she has those eyes and bone structure?! Not to mention her flawless skin. She really doesn’t need make-up to look beautiful.

If shooting a LV ad in Cambodia can glamorize the location a little bit more to wealthy tourists, it’s a great thing that can come out of this ad!

Most celebrities these days buy so much hermes and chanel like it’s candy that people forget they are spending over ten grand a pop to carry those status bags. So when someone as famous as Jolie carries a thousand dollar bag, it’s actually on the lower end of the luxury scale for her.

Her bag handles in the ad are a dark brown. Those handles start out nearly white. It’s clear she’s really gotten a lot of years of use out of that bag and it’s still in great shape.

  136. dj says:

Beautiful ad and beautiful woman. I love it.

  137. Cheyenne says:

Bueng Run Health Centre was built by MJP to provide healthcare services for over 5000 villagers in Samlout commune. It opened its doors in early October 2009 and has seen 9,107 cases. The clinic has already replaced the district’s central health centre as the most visited clinic in the region.

On December 7, 2010, Bueng Run Health Centre was officially opened on 7th December 2010 by His Excellency Dr. Mom Bunheng, Cambodia’s Minister of Health, H.E Prach Chan, the Battambang provincial governor and Stephan Bognar, CEO of MJP. More than 600 participants, including villagers, government officials and school children attended the ceremony.

H.E Dr. Mom Bunheng and H.E Prach Chan thanked MJP’s team, under Ms Angelina Jolie and Stephan Bognar’s leadership, for its generosity and commitment to serve the needs of Samlout villagers and the surrounding area. MJP’s work in conservation and promotion of environmental awareness was also acknowledged.

H.E Dr. Mom Bunheng and H.E Prach Chan encouraged MJP to continue working on its projects towards achieving the Cambodian Millennium Development Goals. They pledged their support and called for assistance from local authorities and other relevant sectors to help MJP as required

  140. betteboo says:

Her feet look big cos her legs are so disturbingly skinny, no shape at all

  141. Bill Hicks is God says:

@ Lucky Charm: So are you saying it’s okay for her to shoot in her son’s homeland with its heinous past? Where people live in poverty and landmines planted by the Khmer Rouge decades ago are still blowing body parts off people going about their everyday business because she’s modelling a stupid luxury item and it’s part of her (INSIPID) job?

The broader point really sailed right over your head I’m afraid.

Additionally, she most definitely did not say she “forgot” to take pictures. Rather, she said she prefers to live the adventure or some similar verbal flatulence. Skip back a few pages and reacquaint yourself with the article maybe.

  142. Bill Hicks is God says:

@Katherine M: Let us know when you go there and leave the resort and ramble around a rice paddy, or anywhere that hasn’t been swept for mines, will you?

Tourism helps people climb out of poverty? Has somebody told Mexico?

What is mind-blowing is the comment that people are “ignorant and jealous” because they have a problem with this ad. Just. Wow.

  143. mln76 says:

What is mind-blowing is the comment that people are “ignorant and jealous” because they have a problem with this ad. Just. Wow.

Oh BHIG so glad I could blow your mind…..Although I don’t have a foot fetish I would love to see a picture of the feet of every woman who posted a comment—Including Kaiser’s 😉

  144. Her feet are fine! She is the perfect woman yoy dumbass!

  145. Snowpea says:

Ohhhh look at the rich white lady slumming in a 3rd world country with the Louis Vuitton — vomit inducingly arrogant.

  146. Charlotte says:

    “…she’s wearing no makeup”
M’kay. Guess that means she naturally has dark eyelids. ????

*shrug*Her feet and hands are gigantic. It never looked bad until she shriveled down to skin and bones.

  147. Bill Hicks is God says:

@mln76: Yeah, inane comments tend to have that effect on me but if you feel better, roll with it 😉

  148. Emma says:

She’s tall! If she had tiny feet, she would fall over. I’m glad they don’t photoshop them plastic-perfect. Also, they are bony because they are bony. She’s a thin lady. She doesn’t have fat feet. Shocking.

  149. mln76 says:

I think all comments on a celebrity website are inane…What’s scary is that some people think that their opinions (positive or negative) on a world-famous humanitarian and actress actually mean something substantial.

  150. jemshoes says:

Angelina’s feet make her look human. She’s so impossibly beautiful sometimes that she almost doesn’t look real. 🙂 Her feet in this shot adds a little warmth and quirk to an otherwise generic luxury brand.

  151. lachica says:

In defense of size 9s and Jolie…piss off everyone who finds fault with this pic.

  152. Rum says:

Angie is so beautiful with her LV Bag and nothing wrong with her feet.
She works hard and always gives her money to help people just a few days ago she gave $500,000 to help Joplin.

  153. Miss Diagnosed says:

    @RamonaQ- That’s the first thing I saw!

I don’t like the “pucker” thing she does with her mouth. It’s annoying and distracting. Gobs of makeup on her face and Photoshop as well.

  154. Joe's Mom says:

Love this ad. I think her feet look fine and normal. High arches. Just like my feet. Of course, it’s about the only thing AJ and I have in common, besides our astrological sign! Once, my EX told me I had the ugliest feet he’d ever seen, but HE had the ugly feet. FLAT, like a chimp, and had apparently never seen high arches. I’d rather have feet like this any day. If I could change one thing in the pic, I just wish she had a little more lip color.

  155. Charlotte says:

@Ramona Q: no, you’re not alone. It goes without saying that sex sells. It’s probably not an accident. I’ve seen hundreds of things like that in advertising. It’s subtle, to where most people don’t see it outright, but it sends a message subliminally.

People, Jolie isn’t tall. She’s not short either. She’s average. I’m her same height. And her shoe size is pretty average, too. It’s her insect-like body that makes her feet look humongous. People are constantly saying “she’s always looked like that”. Go back 5 years with the help of google. She’s perfectly capable of retaining a normal, healthy weight. For whatever reason, she chooses not to or has an issue that doesn’t allow her to.

  156. kasper says:

That is the most unnatural “natural” photo I have ever seen. Millions of dollars in photoshopping later and all you get is Angelina looking like a facelifted banshee? Refund.

  157. Charlotte says:

@Bill Hicks is God: It’s this sort of Hypocrisy that has made me wary of nearly everything she does. It’s like she thinks we can’t see what’s actually going on. Like she set herself up on a plane where none of us can possibly reach. Why would a woman, who calls herself an advocate for children and refugees, start a luxurious line of jewelry with gemstones that are clearly mined from high-conflict areas? It doesn’t make sense. Actually, nothing about her image makes sense. But nay that anyone would say that. We must all be “h8ters”, right?
@Cheyenne: yes, LV bags are expensive, like many other bags. What’s YOUR point? If she were posing with a different designer bag in a third-world country, I think the tune would be the same as it is now.

  158. futureperfect says:

I defer to Michael K @ Dlisted’s brilliant commentary on this. A sense of humor is more useful in this world than sanctimony.

    P.S. Well said @Charlotte.

  159. futureperfect says:

@149 Min76, Funny you should say so; you post an awful lot on Celebitchy.

  160. mln76 says:

@futureperfect by nature of my job I spend a lot of time online doing nothing while I’m on-call I post a lot because I’m bored. I’m also a bit opinionated but I honestly don’t think ANY of this stuff is that important. I think all celebs are too busy living their A-list lives to give a flying fuck what I’ve got to say.

  161. kasper says:

No makeup my ass. The only thing real in that photo is the makeup.

  162. Koretz says:

People aren’t ignorant and jealous because they have a problem with the ad. Those of you who are blind fans of hers of course don’t have any issues with it.

But for everyone else, it is kinda tacky to be shilling a luxury brand bag (doesn’t matter that its on the low end of luxury-I cannot afford a thousand dollar bag and neither can many Cambodians) in a still-developing country.

Her doing this ad isn’t going to boost their economy. It’ll make Louis Vuitton a bit richer-might get some super rich people to take eco-tours in Cambodia this summer or the next and that’ll be it. Who buys Louis Vuitton bags in Cambodia? The super wealthy who clearly aren’t doing much to help the poor.

  163. Kosmos says:

Folks, she’s completely made up and probably fitted with hair pieces or temporary extensions or even wiglets. Her face looks nowhere near “natural” for the ad. That is never the case with models in ads. There are many many people that get together and work to give her the “look” that they want to achieve.

  164. Alipop says:

I can’t stand label-wearers. WHYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY? And, yeah, great pic if it wasn’t for photoshop and the LV bag. What a contradiction.

  165. Josephina says:

Angie is smokin’ sexy. She looks beautiful because she is beautiful. She is naturally exotic looking and has looked that way since her teens. Her features are a good mix of her mother and her father.

Anyway, she is 5’7″ which is NOT the average woman’s size. She is a petite woman, who does not work out a lot. She is a mother of six and that is probably where she gets most of her exercise–that, and keeping Brad happy. 🙂

BTW, when supermodels such as Naomi Campbell and Gisele Bundchen take pictures in the middle of the desert and other extreme landscapes…I wonder if the same critics here express their concern at those times…probably not.

The criticism is only because it is Angie in that boat, exuding her natural sex appeal. I like this angle of her. Her beauty and her presence is one of a kind. Her beautiful eyes, lips and her high cheekbones are all her. We know this.

  166. anom says:

smartwater hag wears a label. naked for water????

  167. Cheyenne says:

@Charlotte: Get a grip, honey. I very much doubt the people of Cambodia are going to have a problem with their country being featured in an advertisement for designer merchandise.

  168. shay says:

The picture looks like a painting but maybe that was the idea.Whatever the case the pix is o.k. nothing earth shattering one way or the other. The photoshopping is ott but again maybe that’s the image they wanted to create. Can’t say I get the whole Angie’s the most beautiful/wonderful creature ever vibe. The one thing I like about her is that she gives of her time and money to worthy causes.

  169. luls says:

Im sorry but this is SO not a beautiful Angie picture. (And NOT because of her feet :P)

Everything in this picture looks beautiful. Even the LV BAG which i dont usually like. But not Angie.

How they managed to make the prettiest woman on the planet look unattractive, I dont know.

Tourism helps people climb out of poverty? Has somebody told Mexico?”

So your game is to just throw out straw men as a distraction?

What in the world does the fact that there remains work to do in mine and ERW clearance have to do with this? Are you suggesting no one should go to Cambodia? Are you suggesting no commerce should be going on there? Do you even have a point?

Yes tourism helps an economy. But seriously, comparing Mexico and Cambodia?

  171. Andie B says:

There is nothing wrong with Angelina’s feet. They are largish, but seem to be in proportion with her height. If you think hers are odd you should see mine. They are smallish as I am 5ft 4, but are ugly and have bunions. I have only worn heels twice in my life, as I find wearing them very uncomfortable.(sob). I am currently spending hundreds of $ getting help from a Podiatrist to try and fix them a bit. So, Ange’s feet would look a bit big for my body, but I will swap with her if she wants.

  172. gossip_ho says:

the ad looks totally fake… not impressed

  173. Derpy says:

As a 5′ chick… when I stand up real straight and perfect.. that has Size 10 feet… I’d like Kaiser to stop being a meaniehead 🙁

Also I think this picture is beautiful, and a lot of the detractors about tax writeoffs and what’s been said by the guy from LV and NOT ANGELINA need a nice glass of wine.

  174. Addie says:

Don’t get why so many are up in arms about this add.Personaly, if I was offered that kind of money to do this..heck yeh I would!

What I see in this photo: a woman who is sailing on a boat enjoying the beauty of Cambodia, a country that is quite special to her and her family. She also has a LV bag which she is using for a purpose, not just something decorative like many other ads.

  175. Mary K says:

As for those referring to her eyes..she could have tattooed eyeliner around her eyes. A lot of people do it now. My sister in law has it, she looks like this w/ “no” makeup on. Just saying, especially since Angelina likes tattoos.

    ____________________________________
Most landmines in Cambodia were not planted by the khmer rouge. Cambodia is called the most bombed country in the world, and most of the landmines and (unexploded)bombs are American and Korean, so enjoy the pic or STFU

  177. Laughternrain says:

So the usual suspects are making small-minded and petty comments about a rich person daring to do an ad for a designer company. Wow! What a crime. Maybe she should, instead, insult someone by chucking 2 old ratty handbags at a raffle, or advocate pollution and degradation of our environment via creating single-use plastic bottles that won’t break down for 80+ years and chemical per-fumes. Maybe that will be more acceptable. rolls eyes.

  178. Lucy says:

At least in this ad angie doesn’t look like she is about to have sex with a bottle of water on a beach like the talentless manniston!

  179. crab says:

@ Lucy, someone always has to bring in Jennifer on an Angie post! Well ding-ding-ding, it looks like it’s you today!!

  180. mln76 says:

@Koretz you honestly no nothing about Angelina’s charity work in Cambodia which is extensive and I am sure you aren’t interested because everything she does is calculated and evil right? My comment did not say everyone who dislikes Angelina is ignorant & jealous but that MANY (not all) of the negative comments on this post were. It’s very possible the photos were photoshopped because heck all photos are photoshopped and the photographer was likely using hyperbole when he said she wasn’t wearing makeup (Or she’s one of people with natural eyeliner like the dude on Lost). But I really don’t see what is so controversial about this ad. Does LV employ child workers? Is it responsible for dumping some pollutant into the environment? I would love to know exactly what it is about Louis Vuitton except for it’s expense that makes it so offensive. Angelina is an A-list star with a face that’s famous world wide of course she can garner a 10 million dollar endorsement deal from a high-end designer why should she turn it down especially when that salary helps her to fund AIDS work in Cambodia, schools in Cambodia, hospitals in Cambodia.

  181. Photographer says:

I am a photographer and I think that this photo looks over-processed. Angelina looks like an Avatar – does anyone else not see this? Maybe she showed up to the shoot with no makeup, but I can tell you with 100% certainty that they airbrushed the sh*^ out of her! I’m surprised Annie L went this route, I don’t like this editing effect at all …

  182. P.J. says:

Kaiser is right, being barefoot is an important part of this photo. The ad’s message is bring your bag with you everywhere you go, even if you’re barefoot in Cambodia. It’s vacation time and people will be traveling and going boating. This ad says, take your LV bag with you.

Also, the feet are the focal point of the photo composition. They form a triangle that leads the eye up the inside of Angelina’s legs. It’s sexy.

  183. Sakyiwaa says:

lol! some people just like to torture themselves. you’re iconic, ANGIE! Keep up the awesomeness!

  184. Darlene says:

Are we supposed to believe her eyes are just pigmented naturally with “smoky eye” makeup???

  185. Sakyiwaa says:

    @Darlene. Not if you don’t want to… 🙂

  186. Sioux says:

Thank you Lisa for pointing out how other stars do these same promos and get no criticism from these same critics on this board. Especially the man face one who promised $500k to Haiti and has yet to deliver the money to that country she promised. Where is the outcry for that hypocrite?
But let Jolie do an Ad to not only bring income and tourism and awareness to the Cambodian people, who, as it has already been so wisely pointed out, have wealthy tourists staying in some of their finest hotels in their country, but also to fund her and Brad’s charities, one of their charities being in Cambodia itself, and all of that is overlooked because the hate campaign against her is more important to these despicable critics than shining the light on what good can be done to help these emerging countries.
Angelina attracts companies who want her to represent them because she is who she is. She is a well respected citizen and humanitarian of the world. Known by heads of states, government leaders and princes and royalty all over the world. She and Brad are two of the most generous celebrities in Hollywood and they are both smart about making certain the money they donate gets to the people where it can do the most good. The fact that she is gorgeous and a flawless beauty is just an added bonus in the ad.
But sadly, hate cannot see real beauty, it can only see the ugliness it loves to see thru its distorted, pinched vision. Hence it makes these obnoxious and inane comments, focusing on things that do not matter. Angelina’s feet are perfect for her frame, but it is more important for that to be made the focus of the ad than all the good this ad will do to help so many in need.

  187. Sakyiwaa says:

    @Sioux. Love your comment!

  188. Meanchick says:

  189. Lushus L. says:

@114 Solveig, This LV ad totally made me think of The Lady of Shalott by John William Waterhouse. Then I saw it was in Asia.

  190. Charlotte says:

@Cheyenne: Uh…do you even know what comment I was addressing you over? Your reply doesn’t make much sense. And I’m sorry to those of you who think it’s “small-minded” to comment on the irony of a woman who has made her entire image one of a humanitarian, doing an ad for a luxury bag in the middle of a third-world country. The difference between her and other models/actresses? Other models/actresses do this sort of thing all the time WITHOUT sanctimonious speeches about giving to the poor, donating income, etc. She’s a walking contradiction. If you can’t see it, fine. Don’t “hate” on those who do. And bytheway: bringing up Jennifer Aniston (what the hell does she have to do with it?) doesn’t help your case. If Aniston were declaring herself as a poster girl for “going green” and “saving the planet” and THEN shilling bottled water, I’d call her a hypocrite too.

  191. kira says:

“If Aniston were declaring herself as a poster girl for “going green” … and THEN shilling bottled water, I’d call her a hypocrite.”

Funny thing, I spent 10 seconds on google, and found this–“Another star spending their green on green: Jennifer Aniston! This Friends star is becoming a friend of the environment … Jen is creating a new eco-friendly house in Malibu and is spreading the word about eco-friendly housing and supporting the green industry. “When you become aware of all the things you do, and the effect those things have, you want to make small changes…,” Jen told Good Housekeeping. Jen’s practicing what she preaches these days, with earth-friendly habits like three-minute showers, brushing her teeth in the shower to save water, and unplugging her cell phone charger.”

BTW, Jolie donated some 5 mill to Cambodia. She was named an honorary citizen of the country by its inhabitants. She doesn’t just do “sanctimonious speeches.”

  192. Charlotte says:

@kira: if Aniston keeps that up, then she’s going to look pretty stupid shilling that water, won’t she? I don’t play favorites. Hypocrisy is hypocrisy. As for Jolie, this ad is in poor taste with what she tries to sell of herself. If she really has given 5 million to cambodia, good for her. It doesn’t make me think she’s any less of a hypocrite for doing the stuff she does, including this endorsement deal. Please try to remember that giving half a million dollars and keeping the other 7 million or so that you earn for EACH job is like me (and you) giving a dollar and keeping 50. In the end, it means more to those people than it does to her. And it doesn’t mean enough to keep from buying up property all over the globe, flying in private jets, starting up a pretentious jewelry line, etc. Do the rest of celebrities do and buy this sort of shit too? For sure. And therein lies the catch: she’s no different than the rest of them, though she constantly claims to be. And yes, it’s “sanctimonious” when she’s not willing to make true sacrifices in her budget but she asks (over and over) that the rest of America should. She ain’t hurting for half a million. It’s a cheap price for buying yourself a new image.

  193. kira says:

Well, the Pitts did give some 8 million last year acc to their released documents for their charities, which they are required to disclose. But, I don’t know how much they make after the IRS, the agents, producers and handlers get their fill. I know some managers can take 20% of the top, and then she’s definitely in the 40% tax bracket. So who knows? It sounds a lot more than what others give, except maybe Bill Gates, who donated 100 mill. I don’t know her but I do think the charity is genuine as she’s done it for 10 yrs, and it’s more than the fundraiser-galas which other celebs often do. She did this way before Pitt when she didn’t need to care about her image. I don’t care for the ads, but I know they aren’t just fashion ads. They are conscious-raising ads. So, that’s why it’s in Cambodia since this is where Jolie had her awakening that she could help others. It’s not fair to paint them as just fashion.
Bono did them last year and he’s definitely no model. His ad was in Africa depicting his association with several charities there. If she donates back to Cambodia, it would be good for them. That is, if…

And coincidentally, Jen earned 10 mill for that water ad, while also claiming she’s eco=friendly. Bottled water is the #1 landfill polluter, it uses up a lot of engery in manufacturing and transpo. Moreover, it’s not even better than tap as the water industry is unregulated. It’s definitely hypocritical.

  194. cate says:

    @Katherine M,
yes, countries need investment to help them to climb out of poverty but research your info better. 95% of the money tourists spend in going to 3rd world countries does not reach the local population. It goes to airlines, tour operators and foreign hotel owners. so the premise that st angie is doing any good by posing for a few hrs in a cambodian boat with a grossly expensive designer label doesn’t hold water. she’s the worst form of “humanitarian’- the ones that have convinced themselves they are actually making a difference when in effect their personal carbon footprints are in no conceivable way justified, no matter the number of photoshoots she might glamorously and vainly pose for.
save your respect for those people that are actually sacrificing modern priviledges and walking the talk to make a difference.

  195. Phala says:

When Angelina arrived in Cambodia, she saw lot of poverty but poverty in Cambodia always smile and she was inspired by people of Cambodia.
A Cambodian baby Maddox has changed her life and since then she’s always in love with Cambodia and its people that’s why she always wants to do something in Cambodia.
The picture is so beautiful, Angelina Jolie is so beautiful from head to toe and I like to have this picture hanging in my room so I can watch Beautiful Angelina Jolie everyday.

  196. FreeLoveForAll says:

I don’t think there is anything wrong with her feet. She is a thin woman, so it makes sense to me that there would be some veins showing. If she were overweight, the extra weight would hide the veins.

I personally would rather see a thin woman’s nicely groomed foot than a man’s foot any day of the week. Men should keep their feet covered. I don’t care how nice they are. (Except at the beach and the bedroom and the shower and those are my only 3 exceptions.)

  197. Sakyiwaa says:

@cate. “save your respect for those people that are actually sacrificing modern priviledges and walking the talk to make a difference”

would that include you? i’ll tell you what; i have enough respect to go around for BOTH Angie Jolie and the people of whom you speak. Angie is easier though for me… cos i see her do it, i can put a face and a story to it and… also, i love her.

    . . .

Duh! And that helps the economy of the country. Jeez!

This is not a humanitarian mission. It is a commercial enterprise. No one is pretending otherwise. If it opens some eyes to aspects of Cambodian life and culture unknown before than that’s a bonus. Anything that attracts positive attention & commerce to Cambodia is helpful to its economy and image.

Your bias blinds you to reality. Jolie’s humanitarian work certainly needs no approval or critique from you.

  201. Suriya says:

Louis Vuitton must be stupid to pay Angelina Jolie $10 million if her feet are not jolie. Think about it people!!!

  202. Phala says:

Cambodian life and culture unknown for only people never learn from the world history and culture.

Cambodia is rich of culture and history, Cambodia was once in the name of Khmer Empire ruling mainland Southeast Asia where are now Thailand, Laos, South of Vietnam, North of Malaysia and south of Myanmar. Khmer creations such as Khmer temples are almost everywhere in Thailand, in Laos and in Vietnam. Thailand and Laos got culture from Cambodia when the Mongol invading China, the Mongol pushed those ethnics from China down to Khmer Empire land.

Not all people of Cambodia are poor; there are rich people in Cambodia too, otherwise Mercedes Benz and the world Gems & Jewelry don’t go to Cambodia.

When you are in love with someone with something you love to do thing for that. Check out Cambodian-American Rock band Dengue Fever leading by a Cambodian girl Chhom Nimol who sings mostly only Khmer language but people around the world buy ticket to see Dengue Fever even they don’t understand a word of Khmer language but because those people are in love with Dengue Fever. Angelina is in love with Cambodia so she does many things for Cambodia. Louis Vuiton is in love with Angelina so Louis Vuitton paid $10 million to Angelina and I am in love with Angelina and Louis Vuitton so I will buy my third Louis Vuitton Mont Souris Backpack.
LV bag is very expensive but LV is the best quality bag in the world, you use LV bag for 15 years and LV bag still looks good and beautiful. People who love LV but can’t afford to buy a new one, they can buy a used one on lines and that what my friend did. My friend loves the used LV bag she said the used LV bag looks better than the new one.

  203. Camille says:

Beautiful ad, I love all of it. 🙂

AJ is a great model, her facial expressions etc are always spot on. She would have made an awesome ‘Super Model’, she out shines Gisele Bundchen (sp) by miles lol.
The mood and theme/idea behind these ads is great.

I think many people are missing the point/reading far too much into this ad campaign because they dislike/hate Jolie. Sigh.

  204. Kelly says:

If she had tucked her size 9’s behind her, it would have been a more flattering pose. Bad photographer! Bad! Also she needs to eat lunch. A lot. I’ve never known a woman that thin who could do anything but lay on the couch.

  205. deb says:

hypocrisy hypocricy hypocricy. That cost of that bag could feed 10 cambodian families for a year. “core values”???? Buying an insanely expensive bag eaquates values?? Im all for working hard and buying nice things for yourself but there is expensive and sinfully obnoxiously expensive. Angelina you look beautiful but core values for louis vuitton??

  206. Rum says:

  208. Iain says:

There is nothing wrong with her feet, she’s a tall lady so they’re proportionate to her body, also idk about you but I think small feet on women are creepy (idk why) I love big long wide feet like hers, I think she has some of the nicest feet I’ve ever seen in fact.

  209. Marcie says:

Angie is wearing eye makeup in that ad. No makeup my arse. Her feet are huge, indeed. As are her lips. I can’t stand one thing about this chick. And oh, yes, EVERYBODY has several thousand dollars to spend on a LV bag that they will be taking to poverty-stricken Cambodia. I do love the pants and top she’s wearing, though.
