About a month ago, CB asked whether anyone would watch Charlie Sheen if he got a new sitcom, and the resounding answer in the comments section was “No!” Of course, Charlie doesn’t listen to common sense, so he persisted in leaking rumors about his alleged new show. Unfortunately, those not-so-subtle whispers have become a reality, and People reports that Charlie Sheen will soon be returning to a small screen near you. In other words, get your sledgehammers ready, folks:
Charlie Sheen has reason to be happy – even if his latest role is not.
The former “Two and a Half Men” star is set to make his way back to the small screen in a television adaptation of the 2003 movie Anger Management.
Sheen, 45, who was famously fired from the sitcom during a battle with the show’s creator Chuck Lorre over his behavior on and off the set, will play an ex-athlete balancing his own temper problems and those of the criminal defendants he counsels – the character Jack Nicholson originated in the Joe Roth-produced film.
“Charlie is excited about going back to work and looks forward to playing a different character other than [‘Two and a Half Men’s’] Charlie Harper,” Sheen’s manager, Mark Burg, whose production company Evolution Management is one of the show’s creators, tells PEOPLE. “I can guarantee you that Charlie will not be wearing a bowling shirt on the new show.”
“I chose ‘Anger Management’ because, while it might be a big stretch for me to play a guy with serious anger management issues, I think it is a great concept,” Sheen says in a statement released by Lionsgate TV. “It also provides me with real ownership in the series, a certain amount of creative control and the chance to be back in business with one of my favorite movie producers of all time, Joe Roth.”
Roth has previously worked with Sheen on the films Major League and Young Guns.

Ugh. While there’s no news on which, if any, network will pick up this disaster in the making, I’m sure that viewers will disappoint us by tuning in en masse. Also, since Comedy Central will air its “Charlie Sheen Roast” on September 19th in a timeslot specifically chosen to compete against Ashton Kutcher’s debut on “Two and a Half Men,” there’s no reason to doubt this new show will also air in the same timeslot once things get rolling. On a related note, exactly why is Comedy Central bothering to roast Sheen in the first place? Every joke that can be told about Charlie Sheen has already worn out its proverbial welcome.

No. Just. NO. All kinds of NO, wrapped in a NO, served on a NO to a NO at an all-you-can NO buffet.
Morning @ the original bellaluna: I don’t think we could stress any harder on the word “NO”. These networks love to see trainwrecks happen
Was that movie even successful?
@ Quest – Mornin’ and agreed!
i wouldnt worry too much. it will probably get a lot of views within the first episodes, but when people are tired of looking at the trainwreck that is charlie sheen the show will have to stand its own ground and i doubt that will have any real substance.
in the end, charlie was used to just playing his nasty old self on two and a half man. he could coke-binge as much as he wanted, coming to the set all wasted and tired. i am curious if he can pull that off on a new show/ a new set/ new coworkers.
ugh.. why?!
I agree on a big NO to a new show. Never watched his old one, won’t watch the new one.
Is it me, though, or does he look slightly less crazy/unhealthy in these pics?
As much as I dislike krazy Charlie, the show sounds like it could work for Sheen. His character isn’t in fact all that different from real life Charlie, and playing the Nicholson crazy on TV shouldn’t be a stretch for him.
The real question is who’s the guiding hand behind the show? If there’s a decent guy behind this, krazy Charlie has every opportunity to make a comeback.
He gets uglier every time I see a picture of him. He is starting to get a very beaky, old vulture like look to him.
This show has epic fail written all over it.
Why do the networks reward negative behavior? He will never get rid of his drug problems if they don’t put their foot down and don’t give him a job until he is clean and sober.
Say NO to the show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Go f@#k your self charlie!
you winning basterd!
When the list of sponsors comes out, tell them you will actively boycott their products because of enabling substance abuse.
his comment is rich….it’s a ‘stretch’ for him to plaly someone with anger management issues?
omg.
delusion strikes again…with this one.
now that we see the depths of his and brooke’s mental illnesses and addictions[ sorry, i dont know if the drugs cauesd the illness or the illness contributed to the addiction, but i DO feel they are both mentally not well], I feel SOOO badly for those twin boys.
yeesh.
Well, I can’t see anything that could possibly go wrong here. I hear he’s a joy to have working for you.
*sarcasm font*
I think he was kidding about the “might be a stretch” comment. You guys might be stunned to hear that Warners & CBS actually tried really hard to bring him back to 2.5. Lorre refused, and they couldn’t figure out how to get past that. I can also tell you that Lorre is hated by more people at Warners than Charlie. My own opinion of Lorre is that he is a scary, creepy man. Also, am not surprised that Charlie got another show.
Well…at least his support payments won’t bounce. That’s the only positive thing I can say.
Great, let’s enable him even more by continuing to reward his bad behavior with more job offers.
@jane16, that’s pretty much my opinion of Charlie. So, they’re pretty much the same person then. That’s nice. Charlie is a trainwreck and should not be rewarded for his bad behavior. He wasn’t even the talent on Two And A Half Men. He’s NOT funny, he’s pathetic.
