Alright, here are more photos from last night’s Crazy, Stupid, Love premiere. I already covered the pics of Emma Stone (and her hip horns) and Ryan Gosling. You might consider this post devoted to the old farts (just kidding). First up, The Other Ginge. Julianne Moore plays Steve Carell’s estranged wife in the film, and she wore this black sack dress by Stella McCartney. I love Julianne’s face, I love her ginge, but her style can be hit-or-miss. This dress doesn’t offend me, though. It’s just kind of a boring, shapeless sack (with fug bows), and I’m sure Angelina Jolie will be ordering several. By the way, check out Julianne’s son Caleb. How. Cute.
The real style star, the woman who outshined both gingers, was Marisa Tomei in Vivienne Westwood. This color should wash her out, but it doesn’t. And the fit and design is just gorgeous. Marisa knows how to dress for her figure and for her coloring – and she rocked this look.
Here’s Steve Carell and his wife Nancy. POLKA DOTS. Steve looks nice, though.

Those bows are plain retarded, but excluding that Julianne looked best
aw, I love them both!
but I don’t love Moore’s dress…she should go with blues, greens, purples…she looks FAB in those.
They both look great. Marisa’s dress is fabulous.
They both look good. Love Marisa’s dress.
Marisa looks awesome.
The trailers for this movie make Julianne Moore’s character seem incredibly annoying and poorly acted.
I love polka dots!
They are both physically gorgeous, but the bow dress on Moore is just not working for me.
Steve and his wife kinda look like brother and sister.
His name should be Steve Bluth.
God, I would stab my grandmother in the face for that Westwood dress. Goooorrrrrrrgeous.
This is a no brainer for me. I absolutely ADORE both of them; and I think they’re both FABULOUS and beautiful and talented.
But Marissa wins for style, hands down. Julianne has always worn cutting edge designers, but I think they’re mostly hideous. Whereas Marissa almost always looks just great.
For over-40 style, they BOTH look cute, of course Marisa Tomei hit jackpot!
Love Steve Carell and his wife Nancy, he is such an awesome comedian!
I think they both look great – I’d be VERY happy to look like either of them in my 40s.
The bows are a bit too much, so I’d vote for Marisa’s outfit. But I absolutely lurve Julianne Moore so she gets props for just…being.
I LOVE Julianne’s dress! Marissa’s is a little boring.
All three of them look good. A win was had by alllll
Wow- didn’t know Steve was married to her! She’s been in a bunch of stuff but I never knew her name. It’s nice to see a normal couple who both just happen to be in the industry.
Love both actresses (they both look amazing!) but I much prefer Marisa’s dress.
This movie looks good, I’d like to see it at some point. Great cast.
they both look great. unless one is minnie mouse or 5 years old big polka dots are a no-no. *still wincing*
Aw Kaiser….—I love you, but this– this comparing of 40 year old women and their clothes — is not necessary and part of the problem with how women are perceived today.
BOTH look incredible and individual for who they are… and they’ve earned that right, for sure. It doesn’t (and shouldn’t) have to be a competition btw the 40 somethings! — esp for women who are this accomplished! — there’s room enough for all their glamour.
Still love you, but don’t be part of the misogyny! machine!!!
Awww, am I the only one who thinks J’s dress is really charming and summery? I’m so sick of all this black in July–I feel like there should be more color in summer. But the sheer overlay and bows make it summery and lovely and light.
Whereas I find M’s dress to be dull, blah, and nothing terribly unique or interesting. Sure, she looks gorgeous in it–the hair/makeup are great. But the dress itself is as dull as the dishwater color it is.
That said, I love both of these women–smart, classy, interesting, and funny. And Annaloo–I’m with ya!
@Annaloo
Word girl, word! I despise when people act surprised that a woman still looks fierce as she ages. Ugh, the phrase “looks good for her age” needs to be abolished. Both women look fantastic. Much of it also has to do with how accomplished and quietly (looking at you LiLo) they live within the Hollywood spotlight.
Regardless of their age, both should wear it longer. Definitely not above the knees.
I actually prefer Julianne’s dress. It would have been a bit better if the bows were little black flowers, though.
And her son looks a whole lot like her, so cute!
In that picture Caleb does not look cute at all (that look is crying pustules, porn magazines under the bed, and Robert Crumb male characters), but it is just looks.
Who cares how old they are! Marisa Tomei wins this one, Julianne also looks fab the dress not so much, it’s hangs there like curtains, something fitted would have looked better.
Use of the R word is offensive
Do not like the black sack with the bow ties. Julianne does not have the legs for short dresses. Marissa looks much better.
Julianne is my image hero for my age-my goal for later is to look like Dame Helen Mirren.
Julianne’s main beauty tip-STAY OUT OF THE SUN!!!!
Even if Julianne’s style is hit or miss, she easily looks ten years younger than she is.
Marisa is edgier style wise. She looks great, too, although I can’t identify with her look as much, as I am pale and freckly like Julianne.
In praise of older women-they are like fine wine! (Two cliches rolled into one…)
I’ve been a fan of Marisa’s for some time. Both ladies are gorgeous; Over 40 or not.
I love Julianne, but if I had that creamy complexion and gorgeous hair, I would only wear black to a funeral.
Just started watching Savage Grace. Julianne and Eddie! DROOL!
