CB sent me this morning’s Today interview with Daniel Craig, below. She noted that Ann Curry was particularly nauseating and fan-girly with Daniel during the piece, and I think CB was underselling, honestly. Ann is the real star here, because the bitch is crazy. Daniel’s half – the sane half – is fairly interesting if you’re a fan, but he’s not really talking about anything new. Daniel doesn’t prepare “stories” and he doesn’t care enough about any of us to try to amuse us. He’s not a clown. He’s not a famewhore. He just wants to be an actor and keep his head down, unless it‘s a print interview in a men‘s magazine, in which he‘s just going to talk politics and curse a lot. I will say this again, though: he seems much looser now that he and Rachel and married. He doesn’t seem as dark and curmudgeony. But you’ll barely notice because Ann is basically licking him with her eyes and her tone:

I mean… get it together, Ann. This is getting embarrassing. Remember when she tried to molest Brad Pitt in Cannes? She was like a stalker, trying to touch his hair and his face. It feels like the same thing here – it’s beyond sycophantic celebrity-journalism and it’s just become creepy. I feel bad saying this because it’s a criticism often lobbed at women, but here it is: Ann needs to get laid. She needs to stop trying to get into the pants of these celebrities she’s interviewing.
As I sat here thinking about the whole issue of “How friendly/nice/flirtatious should a celebrity interviewer be with a celebrity?” it got me to thinking about what I would do if I was sitting across from Michael Fassbender, trying to interview him. I would be a mess. I would *literally* try to hump his leg and lick him. I would probably cry, just because I really am that big of a fan-girl loser. But I think it would only be with Fassie – anyone else, I would be able to keep my cool, much more so than Ann. So is Daniel Craig just Ann Curry’s “Fassbender”? I don’t think so. I think she just gets horny for every over-40 celebrity dude and she tries to show them all her Curry Biscuits.

It was a boring interview.
She was trying to work around the ELEPHANT in the room. He didn’t want to talk about the marriage and she was trying to fill in, and lost her focus.
Again boring.

I kept waiting to see if she did something inappropriate but the interview was just fine. I didn’t notice any flirtation like when she interviewed Brad Pitt, now that was very noticeable.

I don’t know why @Kaiser is on his P.R wagon. If Cowboys and Alien dose well it will not be because of Craig. It will be that Cowboys suppose to look like dry up leather.

I’m with @6 Maritza – there was nothing inappropriate about Ann during this interview. It just reminded me how friggin gorgeous that woman is, has always been and it makes me jealous!
At the same time, while I never really shared the same taste in men as Kaiser (um, it’s probably a good thing because she would cut. me. up.), I do see why she would be messed up if she were to interview him. He looked damn F-O-I-N-E and now I will jump on the Daniel Craig Should Be in My Bed bandwagon.
Ann Curry is completely generic in every way. The only way she can get noticed is to slaver over the object of her desire.

Didn’t see this interview, but the one she did with Brad Pitt was unprofessional and embarrassing. Hope she remembers she’s a professional woman and not a groupie in the future.

Most everyone said it already. Ann is interviewing a man who could give a crap about talking about a movie that looks like real crap and so the interview came out like crap.
Ann might as well interviewed me.
When Ann Curry couldn’t even handle cutting through Octomom’s crap and exposing her for the liar she is, that is when I realized what a hack AC was an interviewer and what a joke the entire show was. I haven’t watched the show since.
I am sure she took a lot of grief after that Brad Pitt interview. He was beet red after the cheek stroke and I thought he was going to jump over guardrail of that balcony they were on to escape.
I really can’t bring myself to watch Today anymore – for whatever reason, Ann bugs the hell out of me.
Daniel Craig is generally a difficult interview. He expresses himself in a rather ploddingly serious and straightforward manner. So anyone expecting rousing repartee with him is in for some disappointment. Expect it.
Generally speaking, I think that she’s just cut from the same fabric as many American day time anchors. They are supposed to effervescent and outgoing, always wanting to establish very friendly and informal rapport with their guests; and I find that it typically doesn’t work with Brits who tend to be more reserved generally speaking. It amazes me that the producers of these day time programs haven’t picked up on this and encouraged their anchors to modify their interviewing style for the specific dispostion of each individual guest.
In situations like this the chemistry ALWAYS falls flat. The interviewer looks like a pathetic suck-up trying to “Curry” favor (haha, pun)and the celebrity is staring back thinking…”imbecile”.
Daniel Craig is a difficult interview = boring.
It is not Ann Curry fault.
rule of thumb: don’t touch what doesn’t belong to you. respect people’s personal space and privacy. conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, even if the one you interview is brad or george or daniel. if she were a man she would be up on sexual harrassment charges. something to think about ann. maybe you should stick to interviewing the unattractive?
Maybe she is his fassbender. Who knows..Im not bothering watching the interview because he’s sorta dickish and boring but he is JAMES BOND, and Anne biscuits are in need of some action.
After she mauled Brad Pitt the Today show execs should have banned her from celeb interviews. She seems to get slightly unhinged when she’s around a hot actor and it’s just not professional and painful to watch
I appreciate the fact that Daniel does not feel the need to kiss @ss to every American journalist. I like the fact that he is a difficult interview and not a famewhore. It makes me love him that much more.
I used to watch the Today show religiously for 30+ years but never did like to watch Ann. Haven’t watched the show once since she replaced Meredith.
I didn’t see the Craig interview because I was so unnerved by Anns HORRIBLE interviews prior to this she interviewed a witness to the Oslo incident and it was painful..I can’t figure out if she is unprepared or just becomes unglued. She can’t think extemporaneously and this is a requirement for that job.
You can say allot about Matt Lauers personnal life( I personally could care less) the man knows how to give good interview.

What in the name of God above are you babbling about you complete dolt? Ann didn’t do one thing that was awkward or uncomfortable to watch. Here I am, reading comments here and there on twitter or other sites with freaks liars like you stating that Ann conducted an awkward and inappropriate interview with Daniel and there is nothing for me to see. You wasted my time watching this dull, routine interview. I hope you suffer extreme pain for your filthy lies you pervert.
But let me add this. I am not a fan of Curry’s. I could care less about her and in fact I wish she was put elsewhere on the Today Show team and in her place would be Amy Robach. So I am clearly not a staunch defender of Ann. I want her gone. The Today Show is the worst it’s ever been in terms of quality on air talent and the ratings reflect this as GMA is gaining more viewers per cent wise on a daily basis. I’m sure some dullard will state that this is not true but just do a google for morning show ratings and you will see the facts. Study the numbers yourself and don’t just go by what some dreadful blogger types.
I actually don’t see anything wrong with this…it’s a celebrity interview and not supposed to be groundbreaking. She didn’t seem over the top fawning – about as much as Katie Couric…
