Ooh, two Cate Blanchett sightings in one week! It’s so exciting. Earlier this week, we saw Cate out and about in Washington, D.C., where she performing in Uncle Vanya, at the Kennedy Center. For that outing, Cate was dressed beautifully and casually in a pair of white pants, and a HOODIE. I was flabbergasted that Cate owns a hoodie, but she does, and she wears it beautifully, pairing it with some metallic sandals and a gorgeous YSL purse. So here are some new photos of Cate, out and about in Georgetown yesterday. For this outing, she once again opted for flats (I love her). And she wore a simple black dress and black glasses! Cate in glasses = HOT. She is the pinnacle of glass-wearing nerd porn. Anyway, the Georgetown gossips are all over it. They love when a big star comes to town, especially someone as cool as Cate:
In a season of hurricanes and quakes, Oscar-winning actress Cate Blanchett sought out a bit of stability on the historic streets of Georgetown Thursday. Standing outside of Dean & Deluca, she discussed the streetscape with two companions with a cinematic look.
Were they scouting a future movie?
The Georgetown Dish has suggested that Blanchett play the leading role in the film adaptation of Carol Joynt’s Innocent Spouse.
Meanwhile, Blanchett is in town starring in a new adaptation of Chekhov’s Uncle Vanya at the Kennedy Center by her husband and co-artistic director of the Sydney Theatre Company, Andrew Upton. The production runs through Saturday, weather permitting.
Blanchett plays Yelena, wife of Professor Serebryakov who visit Uncle Vanya and his niece Sonya, setting off disarray and a few consuming love affairs, each of which withers in disappointment.
“I’ve always wondered what she did during the day,” said a Washington theatergoer who recently saw the actress in Uncle Vanya. “Her role is so intense I would have to sleep all day to recover.”
Blanchett looked rested and fresh, however. It is the second time in recent years she has spent time in Washington. The Sydney Theatre Company’s production of A Streetcar Named Desire, which starred Blanchett as Blanche DuBois at the Kennedy Center, received rave reviews.

I should really drive up to Washington and stalk Cate a little bit, right? I don’t mean “stalk” literally, just go to a performance of Uncle Vanya and maybe sit outside of her hotel with some binoculars. Nothing fancy. Maybe I would hang out in Barnes & Noble or Dean & Deluca and if I happened to run into her, “Oh, helllllooo, Cate! I worship you. Tell me about your hoodie. I love you bag. Can I have your bag? Please?” Do you guys do that to? Fantasize about conversations you’re going to have with celebrities you love? You should hear what Michael Fassbender and I talk about (hint: dong).

She’s Cate Blanchett. She is alway kinda nerdy, kinda cool, and kinda sexy.
so nerdy sexy….this woman rocks!
I’ve actually seen her in person a couple of times in Georgetown in the past month. She’s actually quite frumpy and a bit haggard looking in real life, sorry.
I had no idea Cate was in my city. I’ll go stalk her for everyone.
Dang, Kaiser, you are one funny woman! I do love your take on things!
Where in G-Town?
Awww.. I just want to hug her.
She’s so gosh darn elegant!
I ADORE that she’s wearing flats. There are too many bobble-headed bimbos wandering around the streets of new york and LA in 5 inch heels. Ya look dumb, and ya gonna end up with a slipped disc – just like Vicki Beckham.
Sorry, but this outfit is horrendous. With those glasses and flats, her actual dress should be way more casual rather than the lacey suitable-for-evening dress she’s sporting.
My Flawless Queen!!
she has a Walter Matthau nose here
She seems so nice… They guy behind her is all smiley too. 😀
WTF!! awful look!
hey!!! more Cate, she seems cool, not a care in the world, nonchalant, the write up is fun, ha ha, nice.
She’ll always be cool. But did you see those recent pictures of Charlize Theron wearing nerd glasses? Oh man she looked amazing in them.
I love the outfit and I love her, so
to me she looks great and unpretenious.
Not a fan of the dress or glasses, but I love her flats and I LOVE LOVE LOVE her bag. I want that bag. I want to worship at its little gold pedeled feet.
Omg that bag!! It’s definitely bag porn. Love her.
The dress needs hemming, and she has workout hair. Glasses are too big.
She’s great!
Cate and her nerd glasses!
It seems she has a new pair of them every other week.
I like her shoes and her bag, and she’s one of my girlcrushes.
Cate’s doing her Tilda impersonation.
As mentioned above by a few posters; Unpretentious, elegant, the opposite of ‘trying-too-hard’, Cate is IT.
Honestly, I think we’ve gotten so used to the hard core makeup, overtly sexy clothes, and 4 inch platorm heels sported by the average Hollywood ‘actress’ running ‘errands’.
This is so great! She’s a frump just like me! I love her glammed up, but I’m just tickled to see her looking so beautifully ordinary.
First off, kudos to Cate for not having a care in the world what people like those critical posters above think & wearing what SHE feels comfortable in. Secondly, Cate isn’t wearing makeup or doesn’t have her hair styled specifically cuz she’s in a play where she will just be reapplying it later on. I just got back from seeing her in Uncle Vanya and she looked RADIANT on stage!!! Wow, SUCH a presence & beauty & power to her, I wish everyone could see her on stage, it’s quite something witness in person! LOVED that hoodie w/ the white pants & sandals! *drool*
Well she’s Australian and lives in Sydney, that’s what it’s like here really.
