Prince Albert and Princess Charlene made another public appearance in Monte Carlo this weekend, this time for the 100th anniversary of the Monte Carlo Golf Club. Is Monte Carlo big enough, acreage-wise, to have a golf club? Charlene wore this simple black strapless dress and black shoes, and I can’t find the designer ID on either. I do like her in black – she can pull it off without looking like “The Widow Grimaldi” OR like she’s some washed-out goth chick. She just looks simple and chic. So… she’s got that, at least. I tend to think Charlene is still learning about fashion, but unlike some women in similar positions, Charlene began her princess-hood with a good eye for design and tailoring and what looks great on her figure.
Is it just me or does Charlene look thinner, though? I think she’s lost weight since the wedding and honeymoon. Come on, Charlene! The weight loss is giving her a drawn look… or maybe it’s the drugs? Or the brainwashing? Whatever it is, Charlene is giving Albert a look like, “Wait, what happened? I was about to leave you and then… something happened. Why can’t I remember the last month?” Poor girl. You think she’s even trying to produce an heir so she can get the hell out, or can she not even stand to be touched by him?
By the way, I still haven’t heard anything about: 1) the lawsuit against that French newspaper or 2) the paternity suit.

It was contained within the quoted story on the “Princess Charlene Lays Down the Law: No More Contact with Baby Mamas” thread. Apparently, I was the only who caught it, as I was the only one to comment on that specific quote. (I’ll go back and get the quote after this comment.)
irene – She’s a “royal.” I’m sure people are always giving her things like flowers and little tokens. Remember Princess Diana? (Also, in the previous Princess in a Pretty Dress thread, there is a little girl in a red bathing suit courtsey-ing to Charlene, and it appears she’s the one who handed her the flowers in that pic.)

Now, no one else glommed in on that part of the article, as far as I know. But what that said to me at the time, was that I was 100% correct when I suspected that the results were already in hand at the time of the wedding and/or honeymoon. They simply chose not to reveal them “officially” until after said wedding and BOTH honeymoons.
Or they chose not to release them to the public at all. It seems to me they were “uncovered” by The Mail and published in their story.
And I think Charlene looks lovely, if not a bit glassy-eyed.
What kind of drugs is she on? She always looks so stoned out. I’m sure he’s paid off the baby mamas to keep quiet unti she pops an heir.

Its well documented in European Magazines that Charlene has been on Prince Albert’s payroll for 5-6 years as an “official companion” It beleive its a German magazine that quotes store owners in Monaco who say she was getting $40,000 per month to be his “companion” He needed a white, blonde, blue eyed woman who would show up at his side for public events and photo ops and she would understand and accept that he can do whatever he wants with other women. He needed to show he was settling down.
She is bought and paid for and now regrets it- but she cannot do anything about it because they have to much on her. She took the money now she has to play the part until she produces a legitimate kid.
My guess the depressed, vacant look is drugs that help her get through this.
I know she is no innocent victim in this- she went after this job hard. But I still can’t help but feel very sorry for her. She looks ready to cry all the time. Its such a sad story and I don’t see it ending well for anyone involved.

This may seem random but is the reason Prince Albert never openly dated the Togolese flight attendant because she was black? If he had another kid with her, the guy obviously must be in love with her/at least care for her more than he does for Charlene. Is skin color really that important in royal circles in this day and age?
I don’t know why people are surprised that this is not a love relationship. Does no one remember Grace Kelly? There was no love between her and Prince Rainier either. She just wanted a comfortable lifestyle and she got it. I’m not trying to excuse Albert for being a total douche but you got to remember the types of examples he had growing up. However, I’m sure like Princess Grace, Albert could have found a more willing participant in his quest to have an heir to the throne.

Love the dress and shoes. She looks very pretty; albiet, completely sedated. I can’t believe how much she looks like my oldest sis, especially with her hair like that. My sis is small though, doesn’t have those big shoulders. Anyway, hope she finds happiness soon.
Considering all the money she’s traded her life in for, you’d think the girl could have a decent hair stylist.
Her hair looks like hell in that second pic…lank, stringy pieces falling haphazardly, and just generally bedraggled. That’s what my hair looks like as I’m leaving the gym. And as a salon blonde myself, those roots of hers just scream ‘unkempt’.
I think Kate went after her prince just as hard as Charlene. Just waiting to see how long Kate lasts as well before the novelty wears off.

Not everybody enjoys being in the limelight, and if this is the case for Charlene, she may never be able to really enjoy her new role. Too bad, she looks beautiful but so tense and uncomfortable!
Kate, by contrast, looks much more extraverted–a little nervous but really enjoying the whole experience, having fun chatting to people, meet-and-greet, etc.

Is it wrong to wear black during the summer months? I’m not talking about eveing gowns. In France and Monaco ladies wear black all year long for evenign gowns. I don’t usually see women wear black during the day. It’s August!
