Amy Poehler & Will Arnett have a baby boy

Amy Poehler was scheduled to appear on Saturday Night Live last night, but she was a little sidetracked earlier in the day and wasn’t able to make it. Instead, Poehler and her husband, Arrested Development‘s Will Arnett, became proud parents.

Amy and Will welcomed Archie Arnett on the afternoon of October 24.

On behalf of Poehler and her husband, Will Arnett, “I can confirm that Amy gave birth to Archie Arnett on Saturday,” read a statement from Poehler’s spokesman, Lewis Kay.

The baby was born early Saturday evening in New York, weighing 8 pounds, 1 ounce.

Mother and child were “healthy and resting comfortably,” according to the statement.

SNL‘s Weekend Update just wasn’t the same tonight. Seth Meyers did a fine job holding down desk duties, but I missed Amy’s craziness. According to earlier reports, she won’t be returning either. So while I’m very happy for Amy and Will, I’m gonna miss that wild woman. Weekend Update was closed with a rendition of “Can’t Take My Eyes Off Of You” with lyric changes dedicated especially to Amy. Maya Rudolph, making a guest appearance, and Kenan Thompson sang “We love you Amy, and we just can’t wait to meet your baby!”

Poehler reportedly was at rehearsals up until Friday but didn’t make it in on Saturday. I know after watching her dancing and rapping last week I couldn’t imagine how she was pulling it off. Her baby belly was adorably huge and her due date was late October. Archie is the first child for Poehler and Arnett.

Congratulations Amy and Will… and Little Archie!

  11. jennifer says:

I have a huge crazy crush on my fellow Canuck Will Arnett, and a total girl crush on Amy, so while I’m sad they’re not having babies with ME, I’m THRILLED they’re having them with each other. *girlie squeals* ๐Ÿ˜›

  12. caribassett says:

No that was just plain vicious.

  13. Baholicious says:

The comment on an exception to the current trend of multiple births amongst the celebrity set is not vicious. It’s called ‘sarcasm’.

  14. xiaoecho says:

An oblique reference to the twin epidemic is vicious? Get some humour in your life caribassett, you really really need it

    thanx Baholicious : )

  15. Diva says:

LMAO… holy cow, caribassett, how can you read vicious into a joke about how it novel these days that she didn’t have twins? There was no “victim” to that joke, so there is no “vicious” in it.

    Come on.

  16. Amy says:

Heh, she looks a bit miserable in the bottom pic. Over 8 pounds is big for a first baby, especially since she’s so tiny! Must have been a crowded belly.

My last baby was 9.5 pounds and everyone kept asking me if I was preggers with twins. It wasn’t offensive, IMO.

  17. geronimo says:

I too thought it was very funny. And entirely topical in this twintastic world of celebrity babies. 8)

  18. daisy424 says:

    Congratulations ๐Ÿ˜€

  19. vdantev says:

No that was just plain vicious. ๐Ÿ™„

    ROFL.

  22. brista says:

    Archie like Archie Bunker?

  23. Anna says:

With a name like that, this baby is going to have to grow up with a huge and steadfast sense of humour!

Congratulations to the happy family, they look really over the moon ๐Ÿ™‚

  24. Sara says:

    @jennifer

  26. Ling says:

  27. Kolby says:
