Emily Deschanel gave birth to a boy! Huzzah! Emily and husband David Hornsby welcomed their first child, a boy they named Henry, on Wednesday. Emily announced her pregnancy last Spring, and it was written into Bones so the “Dr. Brennan” character is pregnant too, although God knows what they’re going to do for this new season (starting in November). Previously, Emily spoke about her pregnancy diet – she stayed vegan throughout her pregnancy – and her birth plans for a doula and a hypnobirth.
And baby makes three!
Bones star Emily Deschanel and her husband, It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s David Hornsby, welcomed their first child Wednesday, a baby boy named Henry Hornsby, Deschanel’s rep confirms to PEOPLE exclusively.
Deschanel, 34, and Hornsby were married in 2010. The actress maintained a vegan diet throughout her pregnancy.
The new mom’s Bones co-star TJ Thyne took to Twitter to share the happy news. “CONGRATULATIONS EMILY D!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” he Tweeted Wednesday. “Yay yay yay!!! :o)”
But he’s surely not the only one celebrating Henry’s arrival.
In April, shortly after her sister Emily announced her pregnancy, Zooey Deschanel could hardly contain her excitement, Tweeting: “I am super excited to be an aunt!”

Congrats to Emily, David and little Henry. I like the name Henry Hornsby. It sounds like a professor’s name, right? Like, “Oh, Dr. Henry Hornsby, professor of Classics at Harvard? His office is in that building.” I hope they don’t end up calling him “Hank”.
Seriously, though – what’s going to happen with Bones? After Temperance got knocked up like two seconds after bonin’ Booth, what’s in store for the new season? I’m concerned.

Excellent name! Yay for her!
She is pretty and so is her sister.
Yay for her! She’s beautiful and talented. And while I think she’s a great actress, and generally enjoy Bones, I feel like the writing can be patchy sometimes–there are some very weak episodes. But I’ll still tune in (doesn’t start back up til November!!).
Also, I love the name Henry–that’s my son’s name (after my great-grandfather).
love the name Henry always have ever since I saw the Sting for the first time when I was a kid. congrats to Emily and her Husband on the healthy birth of their son
Guess I am the odd person out here – I have never liked the name Henry – but hey, its her kid and not mine!
She has a pretty face but needs a more stylish haircut.
TV Bones has turned into a soap opera instead of an intelligent mystery which the books are.
Aw, come on. My daughter plays with another little toddler down the street named Hank. I think it’s adorable.
Henry is one of my all time favorite names. I wanted to name my son Henry Oliver, but his dad shot it down, proclaiming it sounded like a name in a Dickens novel…so he named our son Emerson instead. Like that’s any better. Anyhoodles, so excited for Emily and her husband!
Henry sounds so cute. Yay!
Good on her for maintaining veganism throughout her pregnancy 😀
There is so much nay-saying out there about veganism–I’m glad there’s a publicly vegan woman maintaining the lifestyle!
High five Emily!
AH! I did not know she was married to Rickety Cricket!
I’m so glad she named him a nice normal name!
I wish her and her baby all the best.
These flakes.
I KNEW I missed a bunch when I missed the last few eppys of last season! DAMN!
Anyway, congrats to the family! New babies are so wonderful!
Love the name. Congratulations to them!!
@ Erinn, LOL!!
I think that Bones will do fine. They do have some weak eps, but the preview I saw was pre good. I think that they can get several good seasons out of Bones driving Booth nuts while prego lol. I am sure that since she was really prego that they will have the baby early in the season, and I think that will cause a problem. Bones preggo is something they should drag out, SO FUNNY!! LOL
I’m so happy for her and fro the episode wen she has a baby in the show ive heard a spoiler that she gives labor in booth’s car cant wait p.s. she is a stunning actress
