These are some new photos of Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes (and Suri!) from the weekend, where Tom continues to film One Shot in Pittsburgh, and Katie and Suri continue to look kind of zonked out for the paparazzi. Katie had been improving over the summer – her style was getting better, her hair and makeup looked great, there was life in her eyes – but now that she’s back to spending her days (and nights?) with Tom, it seems like Xenu is taking its (his?) toll. Hey, at least she’s not trying to make those overalls “happen” again. I really like her bellbottom jeans in the photos with Suri.
In the pics where she’s wearing the purple skinny jeans, I think she’s trying too hard to look like Duchess Kate. This seems like a Duchess Kate “casual” outfit, as interpreted by Katie.
As for Tom, he looks to be in good spirits, having worn his special “casual day” lifts so that he’s a full inch taller than his wife. Get a good look at his boots – they’re like clown shoes! They’re comically oversized, probably with the latest in lift technology. He even manhandled her for the paparazzi. I love that Katie seems like she’s wincing a little bit. I think they truly love each other, they look beautiful together. All work boots have about 1 inch heels. She should wear flats more often.

They’re so cute together. I know some will insist that their relationship is a sham and the photos are staged, but I think they’re the real deal. Their relationship has been attacked so much by the press over the past that I just don’t see the point in staying together if it’s all just a PR stunt.
Not all work boots have an arch at the front closer to high heels than ballet flats…. see last picture! Never mind the visible 1 inch sole, there’s a good second or even third inch hidden inside.
Looking at those pics, it flashes back in my mind the time bf they were married when Katie talked about “dreaming” that she was married to Tom Cruise, how she had posters of him hanging in her bedroom, blah blah. Now she looks like she wants to say, “WHAT was I thinking?”

Tom Cruise is a horrible man. A bully. A real crazy-man jerk. He lives that religion and that’s all that matters to him. The “appearance” of a happy family. Maybe someday Nicole Kidman will break her silence and tell what really went on. I bet it’s a doozy.

Did anybody else notice in the picture where they are hugging that she’s looking right at the camera? It’s like she’s saying “Did you get a good shot? I’d like the contractual obligation of happy pictures taken care of now so I can go back to my real life.” It looks so posed and uncomfortable.

You guys don’t get it. There are lifts INSIDE the boots, the lifts are not the soles themselves. I also think those “frisky” shots are so NOT sexy. It’s like he’s playing with a younger brother, not his wife.

And echo what everyone says about lifts working from the inside. My friend wears them (ugh) and you would be amazed at what a good pair can do. Now, it appears that Tom is not only going for the illusion of height, but also the illusion of a bigger size – hence the clown look. Fail.

He looks like he had some serious face tightening going on. I still say he should embrace his height like Daniel Radcliffe. Cruise is a throwback to the days of Alan Ladd who was tiny and had the taller women in his films walk in dug out troughs so he would look taller or only act with petite women, like Veronica Lake so he would be taller. But in this day and age, being smaller should not be that big a deal. Cruise grows and shrinks too much for people not to notice the obvious height enhancers.
I won’t comment on their relationship as I don’t know what is or is not real these days or what is just for the camera.

The thing that bothers me THE LEAST about xenu-fied Cruise is his height. His hyper-intense, creepy, control freak persona is what makes him cringe-worthy.

I think they’re adorable and happy. I love them together. I can’t imagine what kind of stress is puts on a family to be constantly scrutinized / criticized in public. I know I couldn’t take that kind of pressure. Let them be happy.
Ok, besided the Scientology crazyness – Suri does seem to have incredilbly devoted and loving parents, who will undoublty put her first. My question then is, if a child’s parents are wonderful in that sense, does that fact that the father, as well -meaning albeit very strange guy with very strong beliefs that might lead to a very odd upbringing, and a mother who might very well be an opportunist and a phony,and one who quite possibly accepted to bear the child of this man for less than ideals reasons, how does that affect you? Because although my opinion on Holmes is quite clear, I do believe that she changed once she became a mom, and i do think she puts Suri above her carreer, social-climbing and even, but defenetely, Tom. Tom, for his part, adores that little girl more than anything. So does all this love make up for the crazy? Does Suri have a chance of ending up a happy person? It seems evil to ask that, but given all the Scientology rumors, plus being from Hollywood, and being pap’d her whole life, she’s doesn’t have the easiest road ahead. Though she’ll always have pretty awesome clothes.

I don’t know thing one about lifts. I’ve got the “tall” gene in my family, from my mother’s side (I’m around 5’10”), and hubs is 6’5″ in bare feet.
But I do know that traditional workboots have a thicker sole and heel, and I also know those shoes look atrocious. Like a cross between bowling shoes and boots. No.

Cute – these two have really made a go of it. The tabloids have been horrible to them but they seem to be able to just ignore it. And they seem to be in love. Good for them. I also think that they are very good parents.

Being a relatively tall woman, married to a slightly below average height man, I have to say I find it sad that he feels he must wear lifts. Real love knows no height requirements.
Maybe, just maybe, Katie is not comfortable with affection in front of papparazzi. I would be embarrassed. Tom loves it however. SO, while I personally fall on teh critical side of teh TomKat debate, I’m just going to propose an alternative to she hates his guts. Which is what her face looks like in these shots. @azurea, I think Suri is cute, but I noticed her legs, too. Not in a bad way, but they always look more muscular than I’d expect for a little kid. I wondered if all of her elegant footwear is toning her legs so they are visibly different from those of the kids running around in their sneakers. Or maybe she’s taking early dance lessons?
Tom definitely needs to keep the short hair. And whatever work he’s had done, it’s good (and subtle). If I was a star and needed to have work done, I’d ring up Tom and Demi Moore (and Meg Ryan for the name of one doctor to avoid).

In some photos she’s at least a foot taller than he is, magically he is taller than her in these, he must have huge lifts inside those boots. I think their relationship is one of the most creepy out there. It really is like she had a lobotomy.
They’re both actors (one better than the other) and she clearly knew what would happen when she signed on. Her contract should be running until 2015 or another baby. I don’t believe for a second they are a real couple, just like he and Nicole weren’t real. All planned just like Will & Jada, John & Kelly.

He feels he has to wear lifts for the same reason he feels he has to hide his obvious homosexuality: when one makes one’s very lucrative living playing the part of the macho dude, being shorter than women and liking other dudes seems a sure way to blow(heh)your ticket on the gravy train.
What I find so odd is that he is so ultrasensitive to THOSE issues about how people perceive his masculinity, and yet he somehow cannot see the irreversible damage his attachment to CO$ has done to his image–and to CO$’s image, too. Surely no one who sees Suri and knows their CO$ parenting craziness can think that CO$ is a great idea for this child–or any other child. His blind spot is about ten miles wide.

I really DO think she looked so much livelier, more put together, and composed and with-it this summer when she was spending some time away from Tommy-boy. I even went back and looked at some of the pictures and it seems to me at least that it’s true–she’s a happier camper when she’s away from him. Not exactly a ringing endorsement of their marriage.
@Linnie, if you thought I was being negative about Suri’s legs, you may have misinterpreted my comment. I was just saying her legs are toned for a young girl, and that it might be the varied fancy footwear or dance lessons.
I read @azurea’s comment as a compliment about her having long legs like her mother, and was building off of that.
I don’t know what Suri’s behavior is like, but I think she’s very cute, legs too. I wouldn’t make fun of your granddaughter either (unless she competes on “Toddlers and Tiaras,” in which case I make no warranty, and you might need to beat me up). 🙂
The first set of pictures they look like their having a good time but in the last 2 pictures Katie looks like she over it and has that dead look in her eyes again.

I thought that @azuria was commenting on Suri’s legs in a negative way because everyone comments on Kate’s legs as they are a bit on the heavy side and we can’t help what we’re born with so I find that kind of criticism of people offensive. Plus I can’t stand it when people make negative comments about children. My apologies to @azuria if that is not what she meant. And BTW, if I ever saw my granddaughter on Toddlers and Tiaras, it would be my son and daughter-in-law that I would beat up first. You would be welcome to stand behind me and shout insults at them.
