Scientology investigated and targeted South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone

wenn3393906
Remember that 2005 “Trapped in the Closet” Southpark episode that made a mockery out of Scientology and Tom Cruise? (You can watch it here.) Back then people weren’t making as much fun of Scientology as they are now and it caused a big stir at the time. Cruise threw a fit and pulled rank by refusing to promote Mission Impossible III if the show re-aired on Comedy Central. (Viacom was the parent company of both MI’s Paramount and Comedy Central.) Scientologist Isaac Hayes, who played Chef, also quit the show amid rumors that he was pressured to do so by his higher-ups in his “religion.”

Not only did “Trapped” hilariously mock Cruise as gay, it also revealed “secret” details of the science fiction-type beliefs only told to followers who achieve the upper levels in Scientology. The “knowledge” of Scientology as told on South Park was something that cult members pay dearly for both monetarily and in terms of years of servitude and brainwashing. The Xenu volcano lost-souls stuff isn’t known to the vast majority of Scientologists under their system of indoctrination, but it’s quite easily googled and made fun of.

Well Scientologists targeted South Park creators Matt Stone and Trey Parker after that, even going so far as to dig through their trash to find out information about them. This story is consistent with everything we know about Scientology, including their doctrine of “fair game” in which they ruthlessly go after everyone who dares question them.

Scientology launched an intense investigation into the lives of South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone, The Village Voice is reporting.

According to Marty Rathbun, the famous 2005 South Park episode called Out of the Closet which spoofed Scientology, so enraged the hierarchy, a witch hunt was ordered.

Rathbun was himself once a high ranking Scientology official. He defected from the organization and in 2009 began blogging about Scientology secrets.

Even friends of Parker and Stone, including the formerly married John Stamos and Rebecca Romijn, were targeted, Rathbun told The Voice.

“These connections are being PRC’d,” reads a document Rathbun made public on Sunday, explaining that PRC stands for “public records check.”

In other words, a private eye was ordered to conduct a complete check of these people and their property through public records. If they owed taxes, or had been in messy divorces, or had been arrested, Scientology wanted to know about it, Rathbun said.

“There are some strings that will be pulled on the PRC on Stone,” the document reads, without further explanation.

“Otherwise the special collections will be debugged in order to get some viable strings that can be pulled,” the document then says “Special collections,” Rathbun explains, is Scientology code for “trash digging.”

What exactly were they looking for, The Voice asked Rathbun?

“Phone records. Bank records. Personal letters that expose some kind of vulnerability. They’ll read stuff into the kind of alcohol you’re drinking and how much. Prescriptions. They’ll figure out your diet. They can find out a lot about you through your trash,” said Rathbun.

Rathbun himself claims he has been a target of Scientology ever since he began his revealing blog. As RadarOnline.com recently reported, a Scientology video crew called Squirrel Busters followed his every move for months.

[From Radar Online]

At this point people aren’t as afraid of Scientology after a few high profile exposes, some defecting celebrities, and the hard work of Anonymous. Back in 2005, it was absolutely brave of Parker and Stone to mock them though. A lot of people have “committed suicide” after speaking out against this criminal organization or otherwise trying to leave. I hope that Scientology eventually loses its tax free status and is prosecuted in the US under the RICO act. In the mean time, the more stories like this that come out, the more people know what they’re up to and how to avoid them.

On another note, these guys are kind of nerdy hot, aren’t they?

I’ve always thought they were nerdy hot!

And yeah, I can’t wait until this cult falls on it’s face.. but in the mean time, even if it has been done, I’ll settle for people making fun of it.

  2. Lady_Luck says:

    Creepy.

  3. yt says:

Scientology is beyond scary. Here’s hoping they go down big time and soon.

ETA: Thanks for publishing this. The more sites that cover the abuses of Scientology, the harder it is for them to control their image.

  4. tapioca says:

Aw, I would have hoped you’d have posted the pics when they turned up to the Oscars – yes, South Park: Bigger, Longer & Uncut was an Oscar-nominated movie! – dressed as Gwyneth Paltrow and J-Lo.

As for Scientology, surely the biggest threat to it ever being taken seriously is its own roll-call of bat-s**t crazy celebrity supporters and Battlefield Earth?

  5. ANg says:

    Cool! More power to Scientology.

  6. RocketMerry says:

Honestly, just seeing their episode on Scientology helped a lot when me and a friend were being sweetly talked up by a (rather charming and handsome) Scientologist. At least, it helped me to get the hell out of there and take my flattered, giggly friend with me.
So good work, guys, and thanks!

  7. RomanianPrincess says:

@ tapioca et al.: Here’s the photo: http://cdn.thegloss.com/files/2011/02/matt-and-trey.jpg
I had no idea they had gone dressed like that. Hilarious!

  8. Quest says:

Why don’t they investigate all the “Scientology for Dummies” vidoes out there. I liked the spoof of Trapped in the Closet

  9. Cindy says:

Oh. No. They. Didn’t. Damn Kool-Aid drinking fascists! These guys are brilliant and make fun of everyone, including every religion and cult.

Funny how the Scientologists did all that digging, yet there was never any big scandal unleashed on these guys. Who’d have thought the team that wrote “Shut Your F-ing Face, Uncle F-er” would be squeaky clean IRL? LOL

  10. Schnauzers!!! says:

The truth will always come out eventually. The Scientolo-looneys can’t keep everyone quiet.

  11. Rubenesque says:

I lost one of my roommates freshman year to Scientology. Her dad & step-mom were in the cult & insisted she attend meetings/audits/whatever on Christmas break or they’d stop paying tuition. Now I wish I’d been more sympathetic when she told me they were trying to recruit her. She was definitely a troubled kid to begin with. I remember saying, “So go if you have to & just don’t buy into it.” Of course I was 18 & had no idea what I was talking about. She dropped out spring semester & refused to have further contact with us. I’ve tried googling her to no avail.

  12. mia girl says:

And it just gets crazier and crazier…

This, along with that crazy KFC -Travlota story last Friday call for Parker and Stone to write a new Scientology episode.

  13. missanne says:

It appears they failed to find anything on them, or we wouldve heard it by now? I mean, what could they find about them? That they’re stoners and eat mcdonalds?

  14. javagirl1 says:

So this Marty Rathbun is credible in what way? He was a high ranking official in the COS which basically means he sold his soul. Then he turns around and stabs his cult in the back and talks a bunch smack about them.

Not a Scientologist myself, I did work for a Scientology affiliated org for a while. And I did leave them on good terms. Was it easy? No. But it was possible.

Scientologists remind me of stubborn kids. Yes they will mess with you if you piss them off. It’s their defense mechanism. Unless you want them digging through your past, don’t stick your hand in a beehive.

I’ve come to find the Scientology bashing ridiculous. The only people I have sympathy for are those born into the cult. Otherwise these are grown men and women signing up and turning their lives over. The ones who then rebuke their sacred faith and talk bad about their once beloved religion irritate me the most. Get a f***ing life.

  15. Praise St. Angie! says:

Which is why ALL of the credits at the end of the show were “John Smith” or “Jane Smith” because they know how that freaky deaky cult operates.

“These guys are brilliant and make fun of everyone, including every religion and cult.”

EXACTLY, which is why it was SO hypocritical for Isaac Hayes to get all bent out of shape when they made fun of HIS religion. he had NO problem when they mocked Christianity, Mormonism or Judaism (which they do in EVERY show). he quit, and they then did a REALLY FUNNY episode when they killed his character off. Since he had quit, they used older clips of Chef from previous shows for his lines, and it worked really well.

The synopsis of the ep is that Chef joins some “Adventurer’s Club” that travels around the world to go on adventures (and have sex with young boys during those adventures). it was OBVIOUSLY another slap at $cientology and it was hilarious. And Chef then died a very undignified death.

As far as the cult trying to get dirt on them, I think that both of their lives are pretty much an open book and they don’t have much to hide.

  16. aenflex says:

L Ron’s own flesh and blood son ‘comitted suicide’ when he tried to leave. Fucking kooks.

  17. Cindy says:

With all due respect, javagirl, the only thing the Scientologists were defending themselves from was the financial fallout from their pyramid scam being exposed to millions of 18-49s.

  18. samab says:

oh boys I f’ing hate scientology and I absolutely love these tw sexy nerds

  19. bigchili says:

Love that they obviously didn’t find anything. But how scary.

  20. Pyewacket says:

So let’s see, Parker and Stone were “investigated” by the CO$, so they could dig up dirt on two men who probably couldn’t care less what is said or revealed about them?! LOL! EPIC FAIL.

  21. Kimbob says:

I feel the same as @yt: Just like the old saying, “fight fire with fire.” The only way to stop this GHOULISH CULT is to shut them down w/CONSTANT EXPOSURE @ every turn. Information is invaluable. Also, as mentioned…government intervention to take their tax-exempt status away, and hopefully more!

As far as the defectors? How else would we all know what their tactics were/are if it weren’t for the defectors?

However…according to @javagirl1, apparently it is a mortal sin to have a change of heart after being indoctrinated & seeing how they REALLY WORK! So, to have 2nd thoughts…actually using their own mind instead of towing the “party line” & submission into SLAVE LABOR & NO LIFE, apparently @javagirl1 is abhorred & incensed that someone would actually have THE GALL TO LEAVE THAT INSANE CULT?! OMG!!!

Also, it’s one thing to leave an opinion here…it’s quite another to get one’s nose bent out of shape & state verbatim ‘Get a f***ing life.’
That quote pretty much speaks for itself. Nothing more to add here.

  22. skinanny says:

counting the days till we are in NY seeing Book of Mormon!!!

  23. Jilly Bean says:

so from what i read just then, it appears that it can be implied or inferred that scientology “stalks” people who oppose/spoof them and they then have info to “blackmail” those people….

  24. michkabibbles says:

i thought i read that the issue with isaac hayes was that he had a stroke, and couldnt communicate, and it was his scientologist mouthpiece who started bashing south park? before he got sick, he never said one bad word.

  25. laylajane says:

    they are 2 cutie pies:-)

  26. Praise St. Angie! says:

“it can be implied or inferred that scientology “stalks” people who oppose/spoof them”

not implied or inferred…in $cientology, it’s called “fair game”, it’s one of their official tactics, and they do it all the time.

  27. aenflex says:

@javagirl – Auditing is a form of autohypnosis. Repeated, shame-based autohypnosis can certainly change the entire thought pattern of a consenting adult. The TR’s that pre-clears go through groom them to be open to the mental domination that comes later. A consenting adult is surely capable of losing themselves with the study and the auditing, etc. The bridge is the allure, personal improvement is the allure. For someone who worked at an Org, I am surprised that you don’t understand how these principles work, or LRon’s basic MO. Did you not read Dianetics?

  28. Zay says:

Scientology is just plain nuts..not even absurd coz every religion is..but SCT is down right crazy

Oh and Stone is a cuttie

but Trey Parker I SO WOULDDDDDDDDDDD….Goshhhh I want to have his many babies 😀 HOTTTTTTTTTTTTTT crazy abt him!!!

  29. gg says:

javagirl, they are a dangerous brainwashing cult with unlawful tax-free status, who abuse their privileges and other people’s rights. Don’t underestimate the damage they have caused and are continuing to cause. They disguise the fact that they don’t worship anything and essentially believe in magic, by adopting the Christian cross in their logo, which is highly misleading. They are tied to murders, and the list goes on and on of their atrocities. I know someone in this cult and he is hustled for every dime he can make in his lifetime and will never be solvent because they have taught him and his cohorts effectively to ramp up their credit power and just turn over tens of thousands of dollars to the cult for “classes” on how to extend your credit. Beyond despicable.

In short, they ruin lives. They are dangerous, don’t underestimate them. Also, I co-sign kimbob.

  30. smh says:

what a horrible, nasty cult… and they don’t expose their core beliefs to followers until they work and rise in the ranks for years, if they can do that. i heard they kidnap young people off the streets and make them watch their terrible videos. the name science does not become the religion at all, what a fucking scam. anyway and the one on the right is handsome, but i don’t know whether he is matt or trey

  31. kristen says:

Stop what you’re doing and Google “Scientology and Me.” It’s a fascinating documentary from the BBC. If you have any doubts about this cult’s tactics, this will clear them up.

I am so glad the Co$ is being exposed for what it really is: an evil pyramid scheme that ruins lives. Knowledge is power.

  32. Cathy says:

I don’t think that either one of those two particularly care what’s dug up on them. They don’t discriminate….they abuse everybody and every religion equally. Remember when the Barbara Stresand Monster destroyed South Park….LOLOLOL

  33. xxodettexx says:

@Praise St Angie!: YES to everything in your statement… i loved that they didnt back down and instead went further and ruined chef, haha, so classic of them!

and yes i have always found them to be nerdy hot and the more interviews i watch of them, the more i fall in love!

  34. NM9005 says:

Scientology is brutal when you try to leave. They will destroy you and those who you love. I can’t believe people fall for their lies and crazy alien antics and join them! I can’t believe they are free to roam and indoctrinate people?! Lock those fucker up, please. They have enough against them to stop the madness, why must the small people fight so hard, it’s up to the court/law whatever to hear their voices and so something about it.

Oh and Parker and Stone? Total nerd hotness. They’re funny, smart, cheeky. Would do them both…together…while watching South Park reruns…

  35. Aly says:

I have a personal story regarding Co$ that I can’t go into, but they are evil.

Can’t come out of the closet, was one of my favorite episodes.

  36. karma says:

God, I love them both SO FUCKING MUCH. Words do not exist to express the extent of the love I have for Matt Stone and Trey Parker…I can’t wait for the new episode this Wednesday.

  37. Nanea says:

I like it that the “Church” of $cientology is called out in many European states as being a fascist, authoritarian cult.

The “C”o$ once tried to sue the Federal Republic of Germany at the European Court of Human Rights because Germany made them pay taxes and had the cult observed. The “C”o$ lost.

I don’t get how the crazy couchjumper and he of the revolting wiglets still get roles in Hollywood, how people would actually want to be seen in their presence.

  38. newtsgal says:

    OMG!!!!
I would love for the CO$ to come after me, I would gather up the weirdest crap from all of my friends (they’re some pretty sick tickets) and put that stuff in the garbage can and sit back with a video camera and wait for the fun to began…..hehehehe!

  39. kieslwoski says:

Could not agree with this post more, I really hope Scientology looses its tax free status, these people are total whack jobs.

  40. atlantapug says:

Yeah, if Stone and Parker arent’ intimidated by death threats from islamist extremists, I doubt they are worried about a few Scientoloholes.

To quote Mr. Mackey, “We’re not worried, Mmmmmmkay?”

  41. Amy says:

@newtsgal – Yeah, it’s funny until they start going to your employers, your potential employers, your family, your neighbors and God knows who else to ruin your life.

  42. jc126 says:

I think Matt Stone and Trey Parker are total assholes, personality wise, but the CoS is a very scary institution. I hope one day it’s brought down and its lies fully exposed.
Remember the rumors that John Travolta wants to leave the Co$, but Kelly Preston won’t do it? I wonder if that’s true.

  43. Ashley says:

I love that there is SO MUCH LOVE for South Park/Trey Parker/Matt Stone here.

    They ARE nerdy hot.

  44. javagirl1 says:

Actually aenflex, I had to do Tr’s. I also had to do auditing it was called objectives. Granted, we might have been doing a milder version of them than what they practice in the church. I actually did get something out of them, but I can see how prolonged auditing could be bad.

I am in no way defending Scientology, in fact L ron Hubbard’s son, L Ron Jr (the one who didn’t kill himself) called Scientology black magic spread out over a number of years.

  45. javagirl1 says:

@gg I knew I was going to get flack for my post. 🙂 I was just trying to say that the Scientologists are escapable. Stubborness seems to be the way to get through to them, which I definitely was. Their “technology” is set up in a way where you can spin it right back on to them. It’s rather interesting…

  46. Nonny says:

Scientologists, stark raving loonies. Come go through my trash. I’ll throw in some dog poop, make it real nice for you!

  47. ShanKat says:

I once dated a guy because he looked like Trey Parker.

  48. ness says:

“I don’t get how the crazy couchjumper and he of the revolting wiglets still get roles in Hollywood, how people would actually want to be seen in their presence. ”

@ nanea i laughed for like 10 min thnx u made my day

  49. TG says:

I wonder if these celebs join the cult because they are insecure and wanting to fit it in order to be accepted and get roles something like that. Since it is obvious many of these celebs are VERY insecure it only makes sense. From what I have learned from many of you here is that this cult bleeds every penny from its followers, but what about the celebs? Do they get to keep their money? I mean it seems like the Cruise and his robot wife are living a pretty posh life.

And yes, the one on the right is very cute.

  50. UKHels says:

Scientology has one purpose only and that’s to divest fools of their money

    and man it works

love Trey and Matt – they are hot AND funny

    and rich

  51. ViloDeMenus says:

No legitimate religion would do something like this to it’s critics, it’s creepy stalking intimidation tactics. They are no more a religion than Taco Bell is a religion. At this point David Miscaviage has more than proven he’s willing to, and has released information about auditing sessions, which CO$ claims is their form of confession, when it suits them to embarrass a person not giving enough money or defecting. You either have a covenant or you don’t and clearly they don’t so the tax exempt status should be revoke immediately. It’s nothing more than a self help group slash cult. They also still have nearly 100 people at their re education camp or RFP in Hemet, these people are prisoners and some have been there for over a decade living in appalling conditions. I do not understand why the Feds are not going in and helping the people who being held and have to escape to leave. Scientology kills.

  52. Javagirl1 says:

@TG: at the org I used to work for, all of corporate (scientologists) drove nice cars and had nice houses. Even the non-scientologist executives could make decent money. I did get a couple raises while working for them. I quit because they extended our hours yet again, where all we did was work and sleep. They did however follow the laws and pay overtime.

  53. Eve says:

Love them, wish them all the best.

You know, I actually worry about the people involved (the ones targeted by scientologists) whenever I read/see anything related to that “church”.

If anything strange/out of the ordinary ever happens to them, I’ll immediately think about the scientologists freaks having something to do with it.

  54. LondonParis says:

I’ve had a major crush on Matt Stone for years.
Plus South Park is my favorite show- any guys who can make me laugh that hard are hot in my book.

  55. Cherry Rose says:

@TG – Celebrities are coddled in the Co$, the men more so than the women. This is why that Tom Cruise, John Travolta, and Will Smith still have all posh lifestyles. Pretty much they are free advertisment, misleading people into thinking they can do whatever in the Co$, and that they too will have a nice lifestyle. Which is hugely false.

I am for anyone who helps spread the truth about this cult. However, anyone who does so is immediately blacklisted by the Co$, and probably receive many threats and false statements put against them. Not to mention the Co$ loves to sue anyone that says anything less than positive about them.

This cult is all about fully controlling the people through whatever means necessary, and to bilk them of their hard earned money. It also isolates them from people, so if they do try to deflect, all their contacts will have been cutoff, and to make it harder for people to leave.

  56. whatever you want it to be says:

I live in New Zealand and before that episode had even aired, the Scientologists were out in the city trying to recruit people. They had a little stall and were giving free E-Meter readings so I let them give me one and it played out exactly like it did in that South Park episode.

They hook you up to this little machine with dials and a meter and of course it doesn’t do ANYTHING until they fiddle with the dials and basically move the meter to look like it’s actually picking something up. It’s like watching a bad ventriloquist with their hand up a puppets arse adamantly telling you the puppet is talking by itself.
