Last night, the Gotham Awards were held in NYC (obviously). Now, the Gothams aren’t really a harbinger for any larger awards, but they do signal what smaller films might be getting more attention throughout the awards season. Tree of Life tied for Best Picture with Beginners – that film where Ewan McGregor and Melanie Laurent had their affair/relationship. Beginners was also given an ensemble award, and Felicity Jones won the Breakthrough Award for Like Crazy. Career tributes were given to Charlize Theron, Gary Oldman and director David Cronenberg. For more about the awards, go here. Right now, I just want to cover the fashion. Let’s start with Tilda Swinton, shall we? Tilda wore her favorite designer, Haider Ackermann and Tilda poofed up her hair for the occasion. I kind of love the whole look – it’s feels like David Bowie, right?
Here’s Charlize Theron in Gucci. I like the outfit, but I think the headband and the bitchface are overdone. In every photo of Charlize, she looked like she was ready to shank someone.
Look at Judy Greer! I love Judy Greer, even though she’s on Two & a Half Men now. She’s a great comic actress, and I’ve never really seen her be so va-va-voom. Hate the hair color, though. She looks better with lighter hair.
Elizabeth Olsen in Valentino. I think the dress is too “old” for such a young woman.
Felicity Jones in Proenza Schouler Spring 2012. Too summery for a late November awards show, and the dress itself looks so dated and 1980s. She’s got a beautiful face, though.
Gary Oldman and his wife, just because I know you bitches love some Oldman.
Zachary Quinto, just because I know you bitches love some Quinto.
And finally, Jennifer Carpenter in God knows. I don’t like the dress on her, but I love her.

I’m probably going to be in the minority, but I LOVE Tilda’s look. You nailed it – definitely Bowie. I have short bleached blonde hair and I think the hair is really the key to making the outfit work – with the same long hair that most of the stars have, it would look really 80s instead of edgy and cool.
Agree 100%!
Tilda is Tilda!
Gary Oldman’s wife is so beautiful
Charlize Theron looks alike an young Sharon Stone here
My first thought was about Gary’s wife! She is so, so, so beautiful!
gotta love tilda and oldman.
wish i could be as brave as her. the confidence, the uniqueness, the boldness….
Well said – my thoughts exactly!
Tilda is a GREAT actress. And, yes, she looks like David Bowie’s twin (brother)….
Love! this on Tilda. I saw her in another Ackermann color-blocking outfit on Fashion Police (which I didn’t like nearly as much), but they were saying she looked like Bowie there, too.
Do we know who made Judy Greer’s dress? LOVE IT. Completely love it. Want it for my wedding dress (but long and….champagne-ish). LOVE, LOVE, LOVE it. Must track it down……
Love Tilda. But where are the pics of Ewan?? Perhaps he wasn’t there…
I can’t get behind any of these outfits, especially Tilda.
Love Tilda in Haider……She looks amazing! He’s one of my favorite designers….so I’m also a little biased. LOL!
Charlize looks great – and that Gucci dress is gorgeous, I’m not liking the lip color though.
Judy Greer – Great comedic actress.
Elizabeth Olsen – The dress cuts across her, in the most unflattering manner.
Felicity Jones – So pretty, but the outfit isn’t working.
I think she is ab fab.
wow, Gary Oldman’s wife is gorgeous! She looks like a cross between Ava Amurri and Olivia Wilde.
and agree on Tilda. I love her always.
It’s Giambattista Valli on Jennifer Carpenter.
i think Judy Greer has gain some weight, wich actually looks great on her. she used to be very skinny, looks better now!
I hated the 80’s the first time around.
Love Tilda so much, I love how she has supported Haider Ackerman from the get go! She rules.
Jeez Charlize has some major bitch face going on. Don’t love the dress, but I actually like the hair, poor girl has very weak hair.
Actually to me she looks more like Conan O’Brien!
I love Swinton’s blouse and jacket combo, but the pants need to be sleeker, I think, to work with the flowy, sheer top and longer jacket.
Elizabeth Olson’s dress makes her look like she has no waist.
Love love love Felicity’s dress. That old-fashioned mint green is one of my very favorite colors and I love the cut of the dress as well. But I agree it’s totally wrong for the season & for the event.
For the millionth time!!! SWINTON!!!!
Great post. I like everyone in this post…. amazing! It a MIRACLE. 😉
Tilda is my girl-crush. Fantastic look. 50ish and looks 20 years younger (sigh.. envy)
David Bowie-esque? What a compliment!
Love Tilda!
