I haven’t seen The Descendants yet, but I will. I already know that I’m going to find it overrated, honestly. I have issues with Alexander Payne, and I’m starting to have issues with George Clooney. It would be one thing if Clooney was just promoting The Descendants like it was a good movie that people should see just for something good to see. But Clooney is shilling it so hard, and he wants the Best Actor Oscar so badly, it’s a turn-off, right? I feel like, at the end of the day, people are going to consider Clooney and think, “Well, he already has one, maybe we should give it to someone who doesn’t have one already. Like Brad Pitt. Or Michael Fassbender.”
Part of the problem I’ve been having with Clooney lately is his dating pattern, and most significantly, his current piece. Stacy Keibler is in the midst of remaking herself into Oscar-Date Barbie, and it’s really leaving me cold. Here’s Stacy, campaigning for her man, trying to play the game and letting us all know that she and Clooney are FOR REAL because they’re making Christmas plans (you can see the full E! interview here).
It’s going to be a very Keibler Christmas for George Clooney this year.
“We’re going to be having a lot of friends and family going together this year, so it will be fun,” Stacy Keibler dished to E! News about her holiday plans, including a Yuletide vacation with her parents—which, for the first time, will be feauturing a very special guest appearance by her Oscar-winning boyfriend.
Here’s to new traditions!
Keibler says that the “pressure’s off,” however, because Clooney has already met her folks (as she has met his).
“It will be easy and it will be relaxing,” she says.
That sounds suspiciously like the couple’s Thanksgiving weekend, which they spent triple-dating in Cabo San Lucas with Molly Sims, Cindy Crawford and their hubbies.
While she joked about it three years ago, before they even knew each other, obviously Keibler knows that a rumor about her being engaged to Clooney would carry much more weight now than it did then.
So she’s turning the tables!
“You have to really be careful with this, I guess, what you say,” Keibler acknowledges now. “If that works…I really hope I could be engaged to Ryan Reynolds! Yeah, the power of manifesting!”
Well, before the sexiest men alive start dueling for the lady’s hand, we’ll just wish Stacy and George (and Ryan) a very happy holiday season and be done with it.

Sigh… does anyone else really miss Elisabetta Canalis? I told CB that Keibler’s shenanigans make me miss Eli, and CB pointed out that if Eli’s English was better, she’d probably have been just as annoying as Stacy. I don’t know, though. Eli had some mystery, and a truckload of drama, what with having such a seedy past in Italy. Seeing Elisabetta get white-washed was always amusing and interesting. Stacy isn’t seedy as much as she is…just… cheap. She just seems so budget, like Clooney went shopping for a new girlfriend in the bargain bins.
Her hair is improving, though, isn’t it? Clooney finally bought her a decent hair stylist, and they’re just doing soft waves and blowouts now.

As far as oscars go, I think Clooney was wonderful in the Descendants, which I greatly enjoyed. What is Pitt supposed to win for? Tree of Life is horrible dreck and while my family enjoyed Moneyball, it wasn’t exactly a brilliant performance. He was basically acting like himself, or Rusty in the Oceans movies.

The Descendants was soooo overated and I usually like Payne movies (esp Sideways & Election) and I tend to like Clooney in movies. George just didn’t pull off the grieving schlubby hubby AT ALL he’s no Paul G. The best part of the movie is how gorgeous Hawaii looks.

Last time I checked the Oscars were not mercy awards. Just because Clooney already has one doesn’t mean it should be a charitable give to someone that doesn’t. What ever happened to awarding the best performance no matter who gives it? This is all just a bunch of happy horseshit.

You know what, I think this time around, the whole “George and me, WE WE WE” overshare from Stacy’s part is actually okayed beforehand by Clooney’s people. Remember before they went public Stacy was asked about George and she borrowed his response, “if I discuss my private life, it isn’t private anymore?” She has sure flip-flopped on that. The more she blabs about their personal life, the more I’m convinced this is just PR fodder for his Oscar nom and is driven by his people. When the photogs snap them with a zoom (fuzzy pictures), GC is rarely touching her – just her hanging on him. When the pictures are clear (photogs obviously within his sight) he’s all over her.

Movie-goers are calling this film boring and depressing. Not a great movie to release during the holidays or in a bad economy when people try to avoid depressing films. If you have an opportunity, check out “Shame.” It’s a restrained performance that is outstanding. I much prefer when actor’s do good work and if Shame isn’t a good case, then I don’t know what is. Fassbender definitely deserves a nomination. As to whether he would win, who knows? Do Pitt and Clooney cancel out each other? Is it Oldman’s turn – there is an undercurrent that seems to be getting stronger for him. There is also the guy (apologize can’t remember his name) for “The Artist.”
I try and turn off what I read on about actor’s gossip wise and focus on performance. I know with some actors/actresses, I don’t even think about it, their performance is so good, their outside behavior is irrelevant, sans Mel Gibson and a few others.

I miss elisabetta. She is stunning and if people took the time to stop hating they would see that she does a lot of charity work unlike Barbie kiebler. I completely agree with Kaiser and the posters who think Clooney is overrated as an actor. I think he has developed in to a competent one, but not Oscar worthy. He has one and he really thinks they will give him a second? He didn’t do anything spectacular for the first.
I’ve always been put off by his movie PR. I can remember for Michael Clayton seeing commercials every 15 minutes. An immediate turn off, for me at least.
This latest ad campaign for The Descendants is horrible. George should get the Oscar; don’t even bother nominating anyone else. Bad strategy.
As for the new piece, she seems to understand that she’s along for the ride as long as she keeps away from marriage or babies. A little more shrewd than the others. Of course, time will tell.

I just read the Rolling Stone cover story interview on Clooney and I really think he is an old-fashioned guy like his dad is. Clooney’s mom is a former beauty queen and his dad is a local newsreporter in Cincinnati/Kentucky area. He said he was acting since he was a kid, being a good boy to make his dad look good in the local press. It explains a lot about why he dates these trophy girlfriends. It’s phoney but it works for your image, supposedly. You can tell he hates it. He had more of a personality when he was on Roseanne and Facts of Life.
Interesting comment CF. I knew George back then, before he married Talia. He was friends with a friend of mine. I think you’re right he was more interesting & spontaneous back then before he was famous. Now, he’s a very nice man, but controlled and image conscious.
As much as I would love him to date an intelligent, thoughtful woman, he never will. He needs to be the star and breadwinner, and have someone coo for him. I got to disagree with you on that one. Many of his fans for years are not single. They are married with kids and some of them have grand children and they have a career. So, I don’t know where you got this information, but please get your facts checked. Thanks. Many of his fans are very intelligent and successful in both professional and personal life and that’s why they are “harsh”. Her sweetness and trying hard scream fake all over it.

3. Write to Nick Kristoff on behalf of Half- the-Sky and ask that Clooney be removed from narrating the project since CLOONEY is a HIPPO CRIT to remain affiliated with a project that advocates the well-being and decency of women, worldwide.
It’s none of our business who Clooney “contracts” to “escort” as his “date”. That’s his CHOICE and business. He and his PR should keep his “escort” contracted CHOICES “private”.
If he’s going to allow his PR to advertise publically, however, that he’s promoting and “dating” an indecent woman who enacts violence against women for fame and $$$$, it becomes our business to advocate against blatant hypocracy and his OBVIOUS DISDAIN towards self-respecting women worldwide.
If Clooney respected women, he would NEVER choose to “contract” with women who have no self-respect or sense of basic decency, let alone would he contract with a person who advocates violence against women, WHILE engaging in pornographic poses that suggest an invitation to psychic rape.
