Here are some new photos of Charlize Theron at the LA premiere of Young Adult last night. Her dress is Stella McCartney, and while I don’t really care for it, I think this red carpet appearance is way better than the NY premiere. At the end of the day, I really disliked the choice of an orange, leather sheath for a winter premiere in NYC. But this little Stella cocktail dress is kind of cute, and Charlize’s face has improved too. I mentioned the other day that Charlize’s lower face was looking kind of strange to me, especially around her mouth. Whatever was happening, it looks better in these photos. Less puffy.
Charlize was recently discussing how weird it is for adult women to be into Hello Kitty. Ruh roh. Mariah Carey is going to throw down.
Charlize Theron can’t relate to her peers. During The New York Times’ TimesTalk panel in NYC Friday, the 36-year-old actress said she prepared for her role in Young Adult by exploring the oddities of women her age.
“I’m pretty amazed by Hello Kitty. I see so many women in their 30s walking around in Hello Kitty sh-t and nobody is concerned for them,” Theron said. “It’s the one iconic teenage symbol that seems okay for women in their 30s? The world seems to not have an issue with it.”
Realizing such women were quite similar to her character, Theron “said to the costume director, ‘Get me some Hello Kitty T-shirts.’ Those were my demands.”
All kidding aside, Theron believes “women are just as messed up” as men, which is what made her role in Young Adult so fun.
“I’m really glad I got to play this character and that it’s being appreciated,” said Theron, who “grew up on ’70s films with Gene Hackman, Robert De Niro, Dustin Hoffman.”
“It’s such a luxury to be able to do a film that you want to do,” the Oscar winner added.

People get divorced all the time, and infidelity isn’t always the cause. It’s kind of ridiculous to suggest that because his divorce happened during the filming, Charlize just *has* to be at fault.

I worked in Asia a few years ago and all I got is a “Hell Kitty” t-shirt. I have no idea whether it was a misprint or deliberate. Until I saw Hello Kitty cars, corkscrews, fridges and stoves, I had thought that Hello Kitty was for little girls, now … not so sure.

The movie is pretty good and Theron is wonderful in it. Unfortunately I doubt she’ll get much award recognition for it because she’s not playing a historical figure, the character isn’t likeable or inspiring and she doesn’t ugly herself enough. It’s hard to get a nomination without at least one of those qualities.
Damn Stella McCartney makes some ugly dresses. This past year anytime I see a red carpet dress that I loathe, 9 times out of 10 it’s a McCartney. Between the polka dots, weird necklines and hems, picnic tablecloth fabric….is she drunk?

Yes sho won’t get nominated even though every major critic has raved her to pieces in the film. She’s playing a detestable character. You can’t get nominated playing a detestable character if it’s not some biopic. Oh well. Atleast it shows people that Monster is not a fluke and that she’s actually one of our most versatile and nuanced actresses.

Hello kitty is marketed to all ages of Women. This is eveident by the products specifically for adult women. Chanel HK bags, diamond earrings and various other products. Hello Kitty could be compared to the way angry birds products have taken off, only it has been around for a long time. If you look into HK you will see they have marketing for every generation.
Never saw the appeal with Charlize Theron. First of all, she’s just another pale-eyed blonde. I get tired of always seeing similar looking blondes out there. Nothing makes her particularly special. Her body is ok, not the most amazing out there, but her face ? Something bugs. I always thought there was something wrong with her face (plastic surgery ? or is this look natural ? in any case it’s not pretty). And yes she does look majorly bitchy, and it comes across in her interviews too. Not very likeable.
I don’t think she compares with Angelina Jolie (since she’s the one everyone is bringing up) and the other really beautiful actresses.
I actually would love to see her in a movie WITH Angelina. I think it would be hotness overload.

Charlize would look good in a potato sack, it looks like she tried. The top looks like my kids soccer ball bag, the middle my old prom dress, and the bottom my bed sheet. This is the ugliest dress I’ve seen in years. It doesn’t even fit her and the thread is showing at the bottom, you can see it not even well made. The dress should flatter the beautiful woman, not the woman flatter the dress. Stella’s designs have improved so much. She should to stay minimal in her designing. One color, no patterns…unless Stella is wearing it herself.
