Michelle Williams and Charlize Theron had more in common than gratuitous HEADBANDS last night – they were nominated in the same category at the Globes, Best Actress in a Comedy or Musical. While Charlize’s role in Young Adult is supposed to be a straight-on comedy, Michelle’s inclusion in that category is up for debate. I’ve seen My Week With Marilyn – it’s a drama. She sings in it, but it’s totally a drama. Anyway, Michelle won the Globe, and while her acceptance speech wasn’t my cup of tea – I would love it if she stopped with the “Little Girl Lost” routine – I’m not going to yell about it. She was good in Marilyn, and I don’t mind her win. I will hate it if she wins the Oscar though.
Anyway, Michelle’s dress is Jason Wu. Again, not my cup of tea, but I don’t hate it. At least it’s a beautiful color! I get so tired of her wearing pale pastels and creams. I don’t really think the velvet gives the gown the “richness” Jason Wu was aiming for – it ends up looking dated, right? Like something from the 1970s, only back then, this fabric would be used for curtains. As for the headband… I don’t get it. At all. It’s just a black headband with some kind of bedazzled appliqués or something. It doesn’t belong at the Globes. It doesn’t look cute or stylish or anything. It’s just budget.
Now, for Charlize. Bitch wore Dior, or course, and of course, there was a huge statement bow, thankfully not on her boobs. I liked the dress a lot in motion, but in photos, it totally looks “off”. Like, the slit seems too high and the shoes are wrong. Charlize can pull off some weird stuff, but at the end of the day, I’m not sure she really owned this look. And shall we talk about her headband? AWFUL – but it had more continuity with her dress than whatever Michelle was attempting. Why is this a trend?!?!? Also: Charlize’s face was back to looking jacked, right?

Michelle Williams headband looked like a university logo. like UK Wildcats or something like that. Every time I looked at it that is what I thought. Charlize’s didn’t look too bad to me but in these pics it does look cheap.
I think Michelles hair looked terrible. She doesn’t look good with that short hair. What’s the headband for? She has no hair to hold back. As for Charlize, I thought she looked stunning. The headband was gorgeous.

Ditto! Charlize’s ensemble from head to toe was the choice of a deluded eye, seeing her as she used to be, maybe 7 years ago, not highlighting her current strengths. Michelle interestingly underplays her beauty and sexiness, they are a classic contrast in this sense.

How does she look desperate? Have you ever seen Charlize on the red carpet? She’s the closest thing to a Glamazon. This is on point with her personality and style. Nothing desperate. Williams’, whom I love dear, really needs a new stylist. She looked HORRIBLE last year with her daisy table cloth Valentino ensemble and this year she stepped it up a notch, but she really needs to go back to that Vera Wang mustard dress mindset. NOW that’s fashion.
Unfortunately, my first impression of Michelle’s gown… was… “is that a purple cheetah print in velvet?”.
And that is never a positive.
But Michelle looked happy wearing it. So whom am I to say there is something wrong with a purple cheetah print in velvet.
I did however really did like Charlize’s dress. I liked the way it moved. And if that b*tch wants to wear a bedazzled headband, then more power to her! 🙂
I haven’t seen that Marilyn film yet and I’m sure Michelle was great in it. I thought she’d go for a sexier look to match her iconic role and she chose to go in a totally opposite direction. I am waiting for her to grow out of her hipster faze, grow her hair a bit longer, gain about 5-10 pounds, and wear something fierce and sophisticated that isn’t too matronly nor too young and hipster-like. She was much sexier in her Dawson Creek days.

Eh, Charlize’s face doesn’t looked jacked to me. I think she used to have a rounder, bit of a baby face until she was in her earlier thirties (she is beautiful and I don’t mean anything bad by round). The older she gets, the more her face seems to thin out so she looks a little difference. If she was getting work done, she’d look puffy instead of her face looking more thin. I kind of love Charlize, she seems like a total stoner and kind of bitch but in the good way…Like she doesn’t try to hide the bitch, a la Julia Roberts or Natalie Portman.
Kaiser just hates Charlize Theron and is obsessed with Angelina Jolie. A lot of obsessed Angelina Jolie fans hate Charlize because she is competition in the beauty and talent department. Seriously, dissing Charlize Theron’s face, which is one of the loveliest faces on the planet, just makes you look like a jealous hater.
I don’t understand some fans, can’t they mind their own business, or artist, and leave the others alone? I mean you’re not winning to love or hate them. I get that some artists have a special place on our hearts but hating on others is just pathetic.

If Michelle Williams wasn’t adorable, her whole outfit would have been one hell of a trainreck. I don’t think she needed the headband at all. It was just awkwardly sitting on her head. Michelle has an inner radiance. I am so glad she won. I loved that she said she is a mother first and actor second. She manages to do both with grace and dignity all the while maintaining privacy for her daughter. I happen to love a headband and liked both women in them. Michelle always dresses simply, yet is glamorous without showing off parts that should be covered. She is one of my favorites. Madonna too. So glad she won. The powers that be always give her a really hard time when she tries to venture out of her musical kingdom. This was a nice compromise imo.

Charlize’s eyes tell a story and I don’t think it’s a happy one at all. In every single photo I’ve seen of her lately she looks about ten seconds away from bursting into tears. coming onto this site is like getting onto an alternate reality. Charlize is getting applauded for her outfit and getting freaking best dressed and then you have biased kaiser say something completely off the wall. Both dresses are gorg. Headbands are amazing and not for young girls- they frame ones face and are an amazing accessory- i love them!
The dress is not the only thing disastrous about michelle- but whatever, she just never fails to disapoint me.

Charlize was my best dressed of the night. I love Michelle, but fashion wise she never really gets it right. Which is a shame because back during the brokeback days every time she turned up to one of these events she looked gorgeous. Also people have been describing that as a bow on Charlize’s dress, but it looks more life ruffles to me.

Well that chemo thing certainly put the whole hairband thing in perspective.My mother and father both lost their hair during chemo and in both cases their hair returned just as full and lovely as before so I hope it won’t be long until you can wear hairbands with the best or worst of them!
