I’ve always thought that Rachel McAdams was adorable. She’s super-cute, and she’s one of those girl-women that will easily be able to play young(er) characters because of her inherent “cuteness”. When she’s 40, people will still think she’s in her 20s, and she’ll always have fans because she seems so “real” and like the cool girl who could be your neighbor. So it pains me to say this – Rachel McAdams doesn’t know her own strengths, and she just torpedoed herself by styling herself like a 50-something Real Housewife. With that adorable, dimply face, with that great bone structure and that girl-next-door sex appeal, WHY in God’s name did Rachel do this to her hair? It’s not just the too-thick, too-long BANGS TRAUMA (full-on), it’s also the cheap looking dye job, the horrible makeup, and the budget-looking Vivienne Westwood dress (that washes her out). Jesus, Rachel. Why did you do this to yourself?
So these are photos of The Vow premiere in LA last night. Maybe The Vow will be a hit movie for Rachel – even though it looks sappy and terrible, I suspect lots of women want to see it. Rachel’s career choices are weird/bad enough – but does she have to do this to her personal, celebrity image too? God, she just looks like hell. She never really “wows” me on the red carpet, but some really good stylists need to offer Rachel their services.
Meanwhile, Channing Tatum looked fine. His wife Jenna was at his side too – I didn’t care for her dress either (it looks like a reconfigured Victoria’s Secret baby doll), but at least her styling doesn’t make me want to cry and scream to the heavens.

Haha, that’s what I was thinking about when I read this! I think bangs do suit some people. Worse than the bangs is the fact that no one has told her she’s 100x better with dark hair, this blonde is awful!

When I saw the title of the post, I thought “no way.” As in, it can’t be that bad. Then I clicked, gasped, and said, “Oh my god!” The look is pretty shocking just because it’s HER. It takes WORK for her to look bad.
Egads. Her stylist was having a really horrible, awful, crack induced, bad day, wasn’t she? I am shuddering.
Also- everytime I see a preview for “The Vow”, I immediately think Rachel McAdams already made this movie! Isn’t it awfully similiar to Time Traveler’s Wife?
I like the dress, but yeah, it’s a little pale for her. I don’t mind bangs, but they are a little much on her.
I think Rachel is the most beautiful actress working right now.

The lifeless bangs, that horrid black eyeliner, the orange-red lipstick and pale dress all wash her out into oblivion.

The bangs look like clip-ons to me. They don’t match the rest of her hair. She should have just gone without them.
100% agree. They appear to be poorly matched (to her color) clip ins, and between that and the harsh red lipstick, it does her no favors.
Kaiser, I totally agree also about the somewhat wasted potential that Rachel has. She was so pretty in Mean Girls with her long blonde hair and perfect makeup, but in reality she often does not enhance her natural beauty. Will someone get her a new stylist, already?

Problem is that her makeup artist is her sister, to whom she’s fiercely loyal (it’s not the first time Rachel’s makeup is horrendous on the red carpet). It’ll happen again. And yes, the bangs are terrible. The seafoam dress color is quite lovely on its own but the clownish lipstick is terribly mismatched with it.
Actually when Rachel has her sister do her make up she looks stunning. Her sister uses minimal make up on her. Look at the promo pics Rachel did for The Vow, they were all her sister’s doing and she looked beautiful. It’s when she has make up artist Troy Jensen do her make up, that she wears too much and I can’t help but think he’s the one behind this, it’s one of his signature looks.
I really quite hope so, because I was weeping at the thought of a lifelong case of bad make-up photos, especially for such a natural stunner! (though Rachel did refer in an In Style or Allure interview, to some of her past makeup looks done by her sister, and those weren’t too impressive either imho).
Beyond awful. It must have taken some real effort to make her look so crap. What a shame.

I met Rachel a few years ago and was completely taken away by how gorgeous she is in person, even more stunning then in her pictures and this without wearing any make up. As Nanz said, “it takes work to make her look bad.” I was so disappointed in these pictures because she looked great while doing promo for the movie and now at the finale, the premiere, she looks horrible. After meeting her, I swore I would never say a bad thing about her because of how genuine, sweet, friendly and kind she was so seeing these pics, I almost feel bad for thinking how bad she looks. Sorry Rachel but you’re young and gorgeous, flaunt it, don’t hide it behind bad hair and make up.

I feel like she also caught a bad break, b/c both the backdrop and the carpet are similar in colour to her dress, so she almost blends in with her surroundings instead of popping out (I think her dress is really pretty either way)
She’s one of my girl crushes but she does look aweful here. She looks like a ghost. Don’t care for the bangs but make up bad, dress bad, hair bad. And PLEASE do answer this bang trauma ?….no bangs under any circumstances???

The wig is bad. The make up is worse. But that body and dress are stunning. She needs smaller shoes though, in one of the photos you can see the gap in the back. I am so over nude shoes anyway.

I never recognize her as a blond because she always looks awful. She’s gorgeous as a brunette, though, like in Wedding Crashers.

A red dress could have rescued the dramatic make up, just as lovely soft pink toned makeup and loads of pearls could have saved this aqua sheath. Just my 20c worth,
Rachel is finally wearing a flattering dress. Her hair is too brassy. She has such a beautiful face, manages to look pretty.

Argghhhhh!!!!! Love her, love her smile, she really has “something” – but not here! Bangs (or a thick fringe, as we call it here) generally make people look like a low-foreheaded Neanderthal – as is the case here. She has great bone structure and should wear her hair off her face, to enhance it. The make up is awful…. Looks as if she’s trying to be.. what… Heather Locklear on a really bad day??

I have a question for all bangs “experts”: I often see in makeover shows the styling of long bangs like Rachel’s, to “accentuate the eyes.”
I feel like bangs that long do the exact opposite (hide the eyes), and only bring attention to the nose and cheekbones. I think that to feature the eyes, one must have bangs clipped at some level above the brow. Am I wrong?

I think bangs often look great on women. It makes any hairstyle look more ‘styled’ and chic (like Anne Hathaway in Devil Wears Prada – great bangs!) – and I’m sure Rachel McAdams has done bangs before but they never looked this hideous! I can’t believe Rachel actually looks strangely bad. The bangs look like straw and the make up is really poor. She needs to tone down her hair, get rid of the straw bangs and have a fresh face – she’s beautiful enough to go without the makeup!
Her dress on the other hand is fabulous. And that BODY. Look at it!! And I don’t think the pale colour washes her out at all, I actually love her in pale colours. Her skin is so luminous that she can get away with it.
OMG, it’s all bad. The hair color, the bangs, the dress color, the makeup. She looks like she was playing in her mother’s makeup and wig. The dress itself is nice and the color of it would have worked with darker hair, much lighter bangs, and less garish makeup. Such a bad look on a beautiful woman.

To be honest, it’s being blonde that bothers me, she doesn’t look right. She doesn’t have the complexion for it. She’s so beautiful brunette, I don’t understand that awful awful color!
I think Rachel always looks adorable.And her hair DOES look good but I have to admid that bangs were too long.But she looks good in blonde.And I think dress was too long because if that was a short dress it would look okey but this dress made her legs look thick.And maybe the color of the dress should be different.But I think this look is not that bad.
