His alter ego, Paulie Walnuts, thought nothing of taking out anyone from a mob boss to an old lady, but actor Tony Sirico has more sophisticated business plans in mind. Sirico, who played the psychotic but always entertaining silver-haired mafia soldier on the hit HBO series “The Sopranos,” has launched a new cologne for men. No word on whether or not it smells like baked ziti.
If you smell like you’ve been sleeping with the fishes, “Sopranos” co-star Tony Sirico has just the cologne for you.
Sirico, who played coifed capo Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri on the Emmy Award-winning HBO show, last night unveiled his new fragrance – named Paolo Per Uomo – at a bash in TriBeCa.
“It’s a man’s cologne that women love,” Sirico told The Post.
The 66-year-old Brooklyn-born actor said the fragrance – which translates from Italian into Paul for Men – reeks of macho manliness.
Sirico worked the room at the Tribeca Rooftop – and showed off his new smell.
“I was always well-groomed,” Sirico said, explaining why he would want to create the musk.
“You could smell me coming,” he added.
The cologne – advertised under the catchphrase “Make It Known You Mean Business” – is sold in a dark blue and gray bottle.
Paulie Walnuts is one of the all-time greatest characters ever. My favorite episode of “The Sopranos” is the “Pine Barrens” episode, in which Paulie and Christopher end up stranded overnight after one of their targets escapes. Paulie is forced to eat ketchup packets to keep up his strength, and wears carpet remnants on his feet after his very expensive leather shoes are destroyed in the snow. It’s good to see Tony Sirico doing something again- it must be hard to live that role down.
Tony Sirico is pictured at the St. Jude Children’s Hospital benefit on May 24, 2008. The group photo of Sirico with his former co-star, Vincent Curatola, who played the doomed NY mob boss Johnny Sack, is for Sopranos fans who really miss the show. Photo credit: WENN.
I’m the first to comment so I’m guessing nobody cares that he’s putting his whiff into a bottle, and selling it to very sad people.
Oh gross. I get the feeling most of the actors on that show were really just playing themselves (remember Big Pussy?). The joke is on the actors.
Edit – I’m not say they are killing people, just that they are clueless losers.
Anne, I agree- I always thought the same thing. It probably didn’t help much that most of them had more than a few brushes with the law. Who would want to buy this? Especially from someone with his reputation and past?!
The Sopranos was such an overrated series.
*Sigh* I’m one of those sad, lonely people who will never be able to reconcile with losing the Sopranos. I see the cast as an extension of my own family, only the Sopranos are decidedly less subversive in their motives than my own (kidding!).
“Pine Barrens” is one of my favorite episodes, as well. I love the back-and-forth between Chrissy and Paulie throughout the series, but this episode really illustrates their unique relationship. Love the bit about the “Interior Decorator”.
That being said, if it’s 10.99 for the box set at Wal-Mart, I know a certain someone who will be forc-enjoying this prime novelty item. He should pray the Men’s Leave-In coloring isn’t on sale – I fall asleep later than he does.
LOL Jaundice! I share your grief. Those who didn’t watch just don’t get it.
“He said the guy was an interior decorator.”
“Really? His apartment looked like sh*t!”
Good times.
It smells like whiskey, cheap cigars and pool hall alleyways, it’s called “Hint of Has-been.”
For the record, Sopranos rocked !!
Do you think you need to bleach the hair first, before the Leave-In? Or do you think the wings will be evident enough with medium-brown hair? This is a time sensitive issue, people.
Dante – you forgot “stripper sweat” and “polyester track suit”. *Sniffs* Yeah. I’d say pretty heavy on the stripper sweat.
Just as well he didn’t name HIS son Peanut!
“The Sopranos was such an overrated series”
Say what? The Sopranos was easily one of the best series in the history of television. Tony, alone, was a masterpiece of a character.
Just what exactly good words and phrases
