Kanye West sued, talks about his mother’s death

Death-Row records co-founder Suge Knight is suing Kanye West for…the loss of an earring. Oh yeah, and someone shot him in the leg, although that seems to be secondary to the earring. It did cost $135,000, it was probably lovely.

The earring was lost during a pre-VMAs party Kanye threw in 2005, where someone was able to sneak a gun past security.

During the scuffle, Knight — who says he attended the party with a “false sense of security” — claims someone shot him in the upper right leg, shattering his bone and requiring surgery, months of physical therapy and continued mental pain and suffering and loss of income. He also says that he lost a $135,000 diamond stud earring, which was retrieved by someone who identified himself as an employee, and who assured Knight the earring would be returned, though it was not. Knight believes the person worked for West or one of the other defendants in the suit.

Knight requests that the earring either be returned or replaced, as he has been “deprived of the use and enjoyment of the earring” since the August 2005 incident.

I’m not sure that the lawsuit is a personal choice of Suge, who declared bankruptcy on October 30 of this year, and may just be an attempt to recover assets.

Kanye yesterday spoke about his mother on the anniversary of her death.

“Losing my mom, having no woman in my life to support me — I feel like I’m on my own and can only express it through my music.”

West, who split from his fiancée Alexis Phifer in April, added that he’d love to start a family soon but that he’s having a hard time finding a woman to settle down with. “I want to have kids,” he said. “But I want to have the right girl too — someone who really cares about me. When I’m in a club, girls are super-calculating, planning every step.”

Here’s a tip for any singles out there – from my experience, a club is not somewhere to go looking for a life partner. I know some people meet them there, but I think the odds are stacked against you.

Kanye also, sadly, spoke of blaming himself for his mother’s death.

“I feel like I moved to California, then my mom moved to California, and she did stuff she wouldn’t have done if we’d stayed in Chicago,” he said. “If I’d never made it in the music business, it never would’ve happened.”

I don’t think Kanye can really blame himself, Donda West was an intelligent adult who knew the risks she was taking. The FDA says that death rates from liposuction are higher than from car accidents, and many people die just from general anesthetic.

Maybe if Kanye wasn’t such a whiny douchebag, he’d be able to find a lovely woman to settle down with.

    Just a thought.

Well, Kanye, I’d hate to break it to you but maybe if you’re looking for women to settle down with, you should stop looking in clubs because women in clubs obviously aren’t looking to settle down, or they’re there with their boyfriends/hubbies.

Maybe if you took a gander outside of your trendy-ass, overpriced joints, you’d find a woman.

duh, THAT’S what he’s saying… u ppl have sum serious reading comprehension issues.

  4. Christina X says:

He’s implying that he meets women at clubs and is whining that he can’t find settle down material.

And should someone who can’t spell criticize anyone’s reading skills? Seriously? Are you kidding?

  5. nicky says:

Kanye suffered a tremendous loss…So maybe thats why hes an azz! Most people criticize to much and need to mind their own. A club nor a bar is not the right place to find love..Dont seek it, itll come to u!

  6. Christina X says:

Um, Nicky, I’d hate to break it to you, but he’s been acting like a narcisstic tool WAY before his mother died. The tantrums have been thrown since Day One, so yeah, don’t go there.

Even so, for as many I’ve known who’ve lost a parent, they didn’t act like asses about it. I don’t know if it’s different for the “little” people, but even though personal tragedy is a sobering, life-changing event, it doesn’t entitle you to say or do whatever you want and abuse sympathy from others, and I’m not just referring to Kanye West, but every single celebrity who overuses the “woe is me card” every time they mess up and manage to piss off a lot of people.

Yeah, I feel bad Kanye West’s mother died, but it doesn’t change my opinion about him being an asshole.

And for the love of god, you’re making yourself such an easy target with spelling like that and if you’re looking for everyone to mind their own business, this is the wrong site for you.
