Elizabeth Banks and Chris Pine have been making the rounds over the past few days as they promote their new film, People Like Us. I really just wanted to talk about Elizabeth’s fashion moments over the past few days, but I will discuss the film in a moment. First, during the day, Elizabeth wore this rather awesome multi-colored dress. I can’t find the designer ID, but my guess is Missoni or a designer that wants to be the new Missoni. CB is in love with this dress, and I love it on Elizabeth. Why are so many celebrities afraid of this much color? She looks beautiful.
Then, last night, there was a screening for People Like Us in NYC. Banks wore a glittery Elie Saab. I’m not in love with this look – I think it looks poorly tailored in the bust, but it makes Elizabeth’s body look bangin’. I will give her credit – she cares about fashion, and she really puts some thought into how she presents herself.
In People Like Us, Pine and Banks play estranged siblings, and I believe Elizabeth’s character is struggling with addiction issues, maybe? It’s pretty much a straight-forward drama, so it’s surprising to me that the film is being released in the middle of the summer. Perhaps it’s counter-programming – release a small little drama in the hopes that people will see the film because they’re tired of comic book movies and mindless action flicks. It’s also somewhat notable because neither Banks nor Pine are known for being dramatic actors – when I think of Banks, I think of an odd-ball character actress known mostly for comedy. When I think of Pine, I think of “wannabe movie star/leading man in rom-coms and action movies.” But critics are saying both Chris and Elizabeth are doing solid work in the film. Here’s the trailer:

i love the gold dress.
banks is very stlyish i have to say, she pulls off most of the looks she wears on red carpet
+1
love her style!
The Missoni dress is hilarious, reminds me of Charlie Brown. It looks good on her but not liking her hair there. The sparkly dress I have mixed feelings about. On the one hand, it is a little too much like a pageant dress that she decided to recycle by cutting off the bottom part. But also, can’t deny that it looks good. I think it would’ve been way better without the sparkles.
Wow! She looks stunning in both.
Love her sparkly neutral dress – her hair and make up look great in those pics too.
Eww and not really happening. Next!
Both dresses are awesome she looks stunning! Good lord I want that top dress.
I LOVE the Missoni. I’m obsessed with zig zag and aztec patterns and I LOVE color plus that fabric looks amazing-must be silk right? I just wish she had worn different shoes-I hate matchy-matchy.
She looks incredible in both dresses.
She’s really talented imo-before 30 Rock I’d seen her in mostly dramatic roles so I was surprised at how good her comedic timing is. She really has good range as an actress.
I hate to say this because I have a very similar look to her, but she is really average and not at all stunning or unique. I consider myself average which is why I am an attorney and not an actress.
Huh. Pretty shallow comment. I’m sorry you only consider yourself average. I’m an attorney and think I’m pretty awesome. But then, I never considered my choices to be so limited. So average=attorney and unique=actress? I’ll make sure to let my future children know.
BAM Marigold and Elle! I’d love to read a blog with the two of you sparring the laws of fashion when you have a few moments to spare outside of court, awesome!
She is pretty and seems fairly intelligent but it’s the same damn face you see every day in Hollywood – same blond hair, same shape, pretty but nothing to set it apart from the other gazillion faces. Do casting agents have no imagination at all?
I’m into Chris Pines’ suit.
she is very hot- like he gold better
I love the first dress. The second is a little too sparkle for my taste but it looks good (minus the weird bust)
By the way, anyone in DC or NYC- free cupcakes at Sprinkles cupcakes between 12-2 if you say “People Like Us”. Best movie promo ever!!
Sorry-but I love love that dress! I love patterns and bright colors!!
I feel like Elizabeth Banks’ fashion is a perfect extension of her personality: classic but not afraid of quirk, sexy but not trashy, and adventurous without being famewhorey. Love the woman. Love her clothes.
Chris can act. Watch him in Smokin Aces
She looks fantastic and keeps getting better with her style choices.
I want to see this movie…
Gorgeous? Yes!!
Love the two looks – so classy and interesting. Plus, she’s got a great shape and both these dresses fit her beautifully. Love them both.
The dress is actually House of Holland, not Missoni. It is indeed very cute! 🙂
Yay Michelle Pfeiffer is in that film!! I’ll go see for sure. Her dresses are both gorgeous! I think I prefer the blue one though. I don’t like the collar on the sparkly one but it certainly makes her look babein.
I don’t care, i love both dresses. They are awesome. EB is awesome.
Great casting for once! Both of these two do not have the movie era they deserve.
Banks is a fantastic 1940s Hollywood-style smart, sharp, screwball comedy actress à la Rosalind Russell. Pine is a wonderfully expressive actor while also nailing comedy timing beautifully.
No, I am not their agent, but I LOVE them onscreen.
The first dress is actually by House of Holland – Fall 2012 collection. Elizabeth always looks fantastic as she has excellent taste in what she wears
Yeah they do look hot together. Wonder if there is anything going on between them? Heard Chris say on a talk show that he went to Thailand over the 4th of July holiday with some friends but the friends were fighting and he went home after spending a night at the airport. No “Hangover Part ???” script there! Anyone know if one of the “friends” was Elizabeth?
I saw the interview too but he didn’t say who he was with. Just said “Friends”. He said he only stayed a few hours at the Thai airport – doubt he was with Elizabeth.
