Johnny Depp has gotten an easy ride the past few weeks. Immediately before Katie Holmes ripped out Xenu’s heart (and ATE it), Depp and Vanessa Paradis’s split was all we could talk about. What went wrong? Did he cheat? Is he a drunk going through a mid-life crisis? Did Vanessa “nag” him into leaving? Did she always want more, more, MORE? Well, it seems like Team Depp’s take was “Johnny had to leave Vanessa because she was driving him crazy because she was so demanding and crazy, and that’s why he had to sleep with Amber Heard.” Team Paradis… well, Vanessa didn’t have much to say. But I’m assuming her side of the story was something along the lines of “We have two children together and you’re going to leave the relationship like this?” Since their split left the tabloid covers, it seems like Depp and Paradis have been reorganizing and reviewing everything. Johnny flew to France last week, and now the UK tabloids claim that he’s enjoying a “family vacation” with his kids AND with Vanessa. So now they could be getting back together?
He was reported to have moved on to a younger woman following the announcement of his split from Vanessa Paradis last month but Johnny Depp seems to have had a change of heart. The actor has flown to his home in the South of France for a family holiday with Vanessa, 39, and their two children, Lily-Rose, 13 and nine-year-old Jack.
While the couple had agreed to keep a cordial relationship for the sake of their kids, it appears as if Johnny has now decided he wants more. Instead of spending his break from filming The Lone Ranger in New Mexico with rumoured new girlfriend Amber Heard, he rushed to see Vanessa and presented her with an antique gold pendant inscribed with a message about how he will always love her.
A friend told The Sun ‘They are having a family holiday to show the kids they are still a strong family even if those two are split or not. But the fact he presented her with such a touching gift, it’s almost as if they could make another go of things. Johnny wants to be with his family, he’s a very family oriented man, his kids mean everything to him.’
The couple needs to spend time together with their kids away from the distractions of Hollywood, according to the friend and they decided on France where they have spent some of their happiest times.
Eh. I mean, it’s great that they can still enjoy each other’s company and that a family vacation doesn’t have to end in hair-pulling, tears and retribution. But I think reconciliation probably isn’t in the works…? It’s more likely (in my mind) that Vanessa and Johnny are just trying to act like adults and spend some quality time with their kids. But… if Vanessa does end up taking him back, that would be very interesting, wouldn’t it?

Too soon? Don’t forget that the relationship was probably over long before they made it public – they were just trying to avoid this kind of publicity while they were doing promo for their movies.
If they haven’t signed off on a legally binding settlement yet it’s too soon IMO. I split from my wife four months ago and i’m still keeping her at arms length until we sign the papers on August 7 and the money is in my bank account.

On the contrary. My wife wanted me to leave our house with nothing but my clothes and personal possessions. When I suggested that we should probably extend the mortgage by a lousy fifteen K so I could set a up house for me and my two sons, who I have three nights a week, she suggested I save up the money or borrow it from my parents. Obviously this was blatantly unfair. So given that we were so far apart on what we thought the settlement should be, I decided to engage a lawyer to avoid the situation captiulating into major shit fight in front of our kids. When I told my lawyer she wanted me to leave with virtually nothing he smirked and said I bet she did. So anywho while this settlement has been getting hammered out between the lawyers my ex and I have kept conversation to a minimum as there’s obviously a bit of tension beneath the surface. Having said that once the settlement is done and dusted I”m sure we’ll be more chatty with each other. But not to the point of taking vacations together.
Err..i too find going on holiday with your ex wrong.. and doing it just for the kid’s sake i think it’s not always appropriate. Kids are not stupid they sometimes know how things go in adult relationships before we do!

Stratocaster Movie
Is Johnny going to do a movie based on the novel The Stratocaster by Damon McCoy? Something is posted on another site and since he loves rock guitar it sounds right. I found the book on Amazon????
Despite your Team Depp claims, I’ve never seen a story where he comes clean. Even in that one, they were basically saying that he got into drinking again and banging a bunch of women. How can that be his PR’s doing? Not just that, but US Magazine also published pics with his children, which he loathes. No way did his PR do that, since he comes out worse than “demanding and controlling” Vanessa. Besides, if he never spoke badly of his exes, claiming all the time that it was his fault, why would he do that with the mother of his children?
The fact is, the only thing we know for certain is that they split. Rest is speculation and just because he doesn’t bother to deny the claims (he said a while ago that even if he speaks directly into a camera, people will still believe what they want to believe), it doesn’t mean that they are true. Only they know what exactly happened there and it warms my heart to see them so responsible. And if they are considering a reconciliation, good for them, hopefully they’ll make it.
Bet some of you might think that Vanessa shouldn’t forgive that ‘douche’, but are there any actual proofs of his douchery? She’s not a saint either, both are to blame for what happened, but if they can fix it out, I couldn’t be happier.

He defended child rapist Roman Polanski, thats all the proof that I need that he is a douche.
In no way am I apologizing Polanski. It was a horrible thing, no matter if the girl pretended to be older, like some claim. But Johnny did have a point though in his defense, if you heard him (It was at the Kustendorf Festival). It’s not that he said Polanski was innocent, but he said that the way they handled the situation was as if Polanski was a predator of sorts, handcuffing him while at a big event and making a media frenzy out of it. I remember Johnny saying: “Why now?” and that’s what I have been asking myself as well. Why now? They had him once in arrest and let him go. But now, that he has a family and is fairly old, he would probably die by the time he should come out of jail…he should have been punished THEN, when they had him, not so many years later when even the victim is trying to get over the events and not have anything to do with the case anymore.
That’s what always bugged me. Sure, it was cowardly of him to flee, but they could have just kept him there locked in a cell, not giving him the opportunity to run away. Why wait so long to arrest him again and why do it in such a way? That was Johnny’s point.

As to the timing, all I say is, courts change their minds, re-neg on plea deals or strike out plea deals ALL THE TIME. *JUST* because there was an agreement with his attorney and one of the cops, doesn’t mean a COURT OF LAW has to honor it or uphold the agreement. So the court decided to prosecute him after all. Too bad. He should not have ran. There should be no time statute of limitations on CHILD RAPE. No limitations at all, it shouldn’t matter if it was 1 year ago, 3 years ago, 10 years ago, 20 years ago or 30 years ago. A crime is a crime. Drugging and raping someone is a CRIME. Especially so a CHILD. Depp had NO point. Time, is totally, completely and absolutely i.r.r.e.l.e.v.a.n.t. Period.
@Alexandra — Polanski drugged the girl and forcibly sodomized her while she was sobbing and begging him to stop. That would have been absolutely vile no matter her age. His defenders are as despicable as him, and did you see exactly what they said? @ Alexandra Polanski skipped bail and spent his life in countries that would not extradite him to the US, the girl did not pretend to be older in fact Polanski had to get her mother to sign the contract to photograph her as she was under 18 at the time so he knew her age. He drugged and raped a young teenage girl (13 or 14 at the time of the rape) and it is disgusting that Johnny Depp defended him under any circumstances as he is the father of a girl that is now the age of Polanski’s victim.
And for what its worth i don’t care how much time has passed since the rape, Polanski and his defenders are vile human beings.

If you child was sexually abused, wouldn’t you want to your child to have their day in court, even if its 30+ years later? By saying there should be a time limit, what are people saying to the victims? That if you didn’t have the courage to come forward as a child, that its too late, and doesn’t count? That they are not entitled to justice? What message is Depp’s statement supposed to send to victims?

i dont know how it works in every country and it depends on in which country they take care of the legal matters. but they were visibly a couple for a very long time, living together, having two kids. she would almost as much as in a marriage because they were practically just not legally married.

In the french mags also it’s said that he transferred to her their home in “Plan de la Tour” (where they’re on vacation now)
It always irks me when a story says “he loves his children more than anything” after these guys are caught cheating…obviously, they don’t love their children more than they love a nice piece of ass, or they would keep their family unit together…

Its the Donahue/ Oprah generation that started the whole idea that we as parents have to do whatever is necessary to be happy and then by osmosis the kids will be happy. No, if you completely disrespect the mother or father of your children and leave their lives in disarray your kids are not going to be happy just because one parent gets to sleep with other people every night.
Sometimes you just have to work on your marriage or relationship and if it still doesn’t work you have to leave it respectfully and keep it in your pants until after the divorce is final and your kids are set. I know that sounds like crazy talk in 2012 because if someone thinks they’ve fallen in love they’re not supposed to pass it up, even if they’re married with children.
However your children take notice of how you treat people and sometimes I think that’s forgotten.

This is never said about women? What planet are you visiting from? Women are pathologically scrutinized over their physical appearance. Paradis (who’s much younger than Depp) was said to be getting “too old” for him. While it’s ok to dismiss women for aging, pointing out the effects aging on men has is considered “mean” because men “don’t age” and “get better as they age”. It’s a perverse double standard and so untrue. Depp is a middle aged man and no longer the hot young thing he used to be. It happens to everyone and it’s not a crime to point it out when it happens to men.

Most celeb men become hotter or men that take care of themselves. A typical American man, not so much. They age just as badly as we do. A lot of them are very overweight, out-of-shape, bald and look way older than their age.
Now they still walk around like they are the shait, even of their bellies are hanging over their belts. Believing when they are 50 they can still date 20 years old. No they can’t and most don’t.
I hate when people discount a relationship because the parties were not married. As if it is somehow less. that the commitment to each other over 14 years didn’t matter. They lived together and were raising two children. They shared a home and all the responsibilities of that go with a shared life. Marriages end every single day. And we see people divorcing after being married for weeks and I know someone that got a divorce after being married for 10 days. So I think marriage is a beautiful thing, but it is not the golden grail and not so perfect.
Clint Eastwood had to pay his girlfriend a lot of money when they broke up all those years ago. And there were no children involved. Johnny’s children deserve to have the lifestyle that he provided for them. Him giving her half or even a third of his money will not hurt him at all. Because unless he gets married again, in the end his money will be left to his children. He has more money then he could spend in a life time. And Johnny sure is not spending it on clothing or cars or those kinds of thing. Vanessa deserves to be treated as what she was. The woman in his life and mother of his children. That to me is no less if she was his wife. Heck some men leave their wives and children with squat when they divorce not to mention the men that have children outside of marriage that don’t support those children either.
So being a “wife” is not all that precious a position to me.

Being a wife/partner is not generally a glamorous position. Nor is being a mother. (They are both highly romanticised, however.)
Now, I love being a mother (recently, oftentimes more than I love being a wife) but there’s nothing glamorous about being barfed on, staying up all hours with sick kids, and wiping butts. However, it is very rewarding, and the positive outweighs the negative.
Not so much with being a wife/partner. At least, not all the time. Relationships are HARD. You’re combining two individual adult beings who have had two different life experiences and hoping that love will carry you through.
Ideally, it should. When the “in love” waxes and wanes, the firm base of love should remain.
But sometimes, shit just happens.

I’m going to be a wife very soon, and getting married is something that matters to me, but I agree with the basis of your argument. I’ve been with my guy for 6 years, we are far closer than most married couples I’ve known, and our relationship keeps getting better.(And contrary to popular myths about men and women, I was the one who put off getting engaged for a long time, not him.) The marriage isn’t what makes the relationship; the people in it are.

I used “when he was hot” because looks/$ & other factors are part of what a person. brings to the relationship market. I don’t like or agree but it’s reality for regular people so it’s probably more so for Hwood. Also, my disdain for him stems more from his professional life than his personal one.
The only reason he wants to go back to Vanessa is because Amber dumped him. He no longer is the handsome man he once was.
I predicted they would and I’m not surprised they’re spending holidays together especially since they unofficially split late last year. At least Vanessa has had time to process this and evaluate while Depp is now coming down his high from filming and might be back to normal soon. In any event, in France, even Sarkozy vacationed with his ex. It’s not so unusual.

I think Vanessa is too good for him and always has been. Due to the fact I am a fan of French music and films, I have a couple of Vanessa’s albums Variations t’aime Sur la meme (I think that’s what it is called) and her self titled one. She’s very talented and I have a lot of respect for her. I have more respect for her than I do Johnny at the moment. But I also believe she was the one to end things with Johnny not the other way around.
Of course Johnny wants her back! He’s about to lose his career! Johnny was able to reinvent himself into a caring family man from a drunk drug using man-child. The public gave him a second chance and he’s been throwing it away with his actions in the past year. Do I think this breakup is 100% his fault? No. Do I think he could have handled himself better? Absolutely!
That being said, I doubt Vanessa will take him back. She seems over it and has seemed over it for awhile. I really do think that the catalyst to this relationship ending was their move from France to Los Angeles. I think everything was more solid for them in France and IF they were to reconcile they would return to living in France permanently. But I also think there’s a strong possibility that these two share children together and are still committed to co-parenting and raising their kids together. At least they are adults about it. Despite what the media makes it out to be.

Depp and Paradis gave countless interviews over the years professing love, respect and admiration for each other, especially as responsible parents. Like many teen fans of the 80’s, I enjoyed the “product” he marketed in fulfilling his 21 Jump Street contract. Over the years, his fan base believed he had grown up with many of them to embrace the commitment of family life. We supported his POTC endeavors at the box office and Disney store with our own families, while celebrating our “coupledom” on date night with his Indie films. Now the fans are not expected to react when he goes all Gonzo Libertine!

Remember in the beginning how all the papers were quoting the US Weekly story?
Curious how Warner Bros put the hold on The Thin Man project, which calls for a Hitchcock blonde to play Depp’s love interest. It is interesting how the Amber Heard tabloid stories talked of her love of “old romantic films,” after all that home wrecker publicity. Depp himself described her as a modern day Lauren Bacall.
Have you Heard they put Thin Man on hold because of Dark Shadows earnings, it has nothing to do with Amber. As for US Weekly business comes before friendship. And I’m sure no one takes the tab’s serious let alone your patron saint Vanessa or is she not above that! It’s not like Johnny Depp had a death in the family where his friend will respect his wishes it was just a break up, people breakup everyday.
The Thin Man was put on hold because of conflict between WB and Depp concerning having Rob Marshall as the director. Also the script is not finished and no one could agree on an actress.There was a lot going on that did not have to do with an actor’s personal life.
Dark Shadows was something WB paid Burton and Depp to just get made so WB could cash in on the Dark Shadow film rights they bought years ago. The movie didn’t cost over 100 million either. No one lost on this deal and Burton and Depp were paid pretty nice to do a favor for WB.
If they can make it work, that’s a great thing because there are children involved.
Really everything we are reading is supposition..we KNOW nothing about them but what the tabloids print and spin!! What they do is their business only, and ‘ we should stand back and let them resolve their lives. I know I would never want to live my life with all it’s good and bad moments in a fishbowl,with all and sundry speculating .Usually there are faults on both sides…we feed these ghastly tabloids in their quest to inflame and hype the comment and get a ‘scoop’ .these actors entertain us,they do’no harm to us and ours, let us leave their private lives out of the mix!
Liza why you are here? I respect that you feel the way you do. But let people who enjoy commenting and speculate do so. All of us know that 80% of what is found in the tabloids is crap. We know that we know nothing about Johnny and Vanessa’s personal lives in reality. But we enjoy commenting on these stories and giving our thoughts on them. Please respect our right to do so.

I know it’s true about the family vacation (there are pictures of Johnny and the children arriving from US to Nice and in french mags it’s said that Vanessa joined them a couple of days later)
But I don’t think they are trying of reconciled so soon…I would like to think it is, but I’m rather more convinced that it is just two loving parents giving their children the happiness and security of a family holiday where they get to spend time with both parents. That’s what devoted parents do, despite their problems…
Anyway, I find the gesture of the pendant inscribed with a message about how he will always love her, “very Johnny” and VERY TOUCHING OF HIM!…and by the way, I believe him! I believe that he always will love her even if they can’t be a couple anymore…maybe later, maybe never…but he always will love her, I’m sure!!

Didn’t they also have a family vacation on the yacht last summer. I thought it was common knowledge in France that Vanessa was already seeing someone else by that point. Why do people assume this is Depp’s fault? Because they read it in a tabloid?
God, not the Polanksi issue again. For the last time, the agreement was between everyone including the judge. The judge made it clear to someone while he was in the locker room of a country club that he was planning to violate the already agreed upon terms of the plea agreement. Someone overheard the judge and got word to Polanski who then fled.
The misconduct by the judge – and not just in this action – was even acknowledged by the prosecutor. The judge was a showboating ass.
The French govt does not extradite in misdemeanor sexual cases such as Polanski’s. The Swiss govt’s decision to refuse extradition was legally correct for a number of reasons. First, the US courts refused to turn over court documents requested by the Swiss to make its determination as to whether there had been misconduct by the judge. The Swiss were trying to determine if Polanski had in effect served his sentence therefore making the case effectively closed. He had served his sentence according to the plea agreement.
I think they refused to turn the documents over because it would have revealed judicial misconduct.
The US govt’s (on behalf of California) own failure to go after Polanski to seek extradition throughout the years when they knew full well when he was in Sitzerland and when they could have sought extradition on numerous occasions amounted to a failure to prosecute and an abandonment of his prosecution. There were political reasons for finally seeking extradition when it did. That is another matter they did not want to reveal to the Swiss govt.
The case is over.

As you can notice, I didn’t foolishly defend him, I hope I don’t come across as a blind fan who defends him even if everything is against him. I just merely pointed out that you are calling him a douche for dumping Vanessa, when he might have not done it and without having any relevant evidences.
Wish I was Robin Baum, doing PR is definitely right up my alley – however, I’m just an European… I’ve seen her and Johnny in person though, but their body language didn’t tell me anything. If anything, she looked a lot more into Ryan Gosling. But I guess I wouldn’t stand a chance in the business, because I am way too honest and not into dramas and controversies.

Did you compare Depp’s demeanor and body language in the the press tour photos and related utube for Rum Diaries to Dark Shadows and even The Tourist? For example, do you see the difference between the way he puts his arm around Michelle Pfeiffer on the couch during the Ellen Show and the way he dresses to match, looks at and touches Amber Heard during London, France, LA and NY red carpet premieres? Do you see the similarities with how he put his arm around the waist of Wynona and Kate Moss at red carpet events? Depp doesn’t even stand close to or touch Jolie at all during The Tourist press, which is kinda strange since he hosted a playdate with her family.
Interesting, we just hear a rumor that Heard dumped Johnny because of all the “drama”… now we hear a rumor he’s trying to reconcile with the wife. He couldn’t be THAT predictable and typical, could he??

I will bet Vanessa said she’s leaving him (and Hollywood) for France, and that was a blow to JD and especially to all his handlers who rely on his money. They were better in France, and France has laws against paparazzi. After seeing the flurry of Amber vs. Vanessa gossip, who wouldn’t want to leave? In Paris, the children could go to school and Vanessa and her family could help care for them. They wouldn’t need to worry about dumb headlines like “Vanessa Paradis calls Amber heard a *****” and yes, there was non-alcoholic Beck’s beer in his bags, so good observation, he may be making positive changes. I doubt they will ever marry, but do think they will be in love for life. Vanessa has said she loves touring, and right now, her career is taking off in France, so that’s where she needs to be. And she’ll keep the kids with her. Johnny has admitted what a good mom she is. I don’t believe the gossip that she has a boyfriend, either. She has had tons of male collaborators, all very handsome for many years. The photo that people think is her walking with Matthieu Chedid is actually Matthieu’s sister, and he already has a girlfriend!! I think she loves Johnny but told him she’s leaving for France and he’s either on the boat or not. He has said time and again that France is grounding for him and being there with Vanessa and the kids has given him the stability he needs.
To me France was a way for him to hide from his past whatever painful memories he was hiding from because of his past it made him stick with Vanessa. It didn’t take him long to run back to LA while he was with Vanessa. If America is not where his heart is why don’t he sell his homes,he dissed the U.S. for shame Johnny! If Vanessa thinks keeping the kids in France to keep him there will tame him is laughable and selfish, Johnny will always be Johnny. Not only that he doesn’t want to pay taxes there. And if France is so grounding for him why the need to buy an island, and other homes in Europe. Sounds to me he just like his privacy more than anything.

This is Depps P.R. damage control, it is obvious. His publicist robin Baum has surely read all of the negative posts, so she makes sure a”SOURCE” immediately reports to all media outlets that “Johnny is a family man. Johnny gives gold locket to Vanessa saying “My heart is always with you”, Johnny just wants to be with his family even if the two are split or not”. I think it’s OVER and it has been over for a while. Depp And vanessa officially annouced it, so that much is fact. I don’t think they would have declared their relationship over unless they had tried for a long time to fix things between them. it seems really obvious to me when Johnny is happy or unhappy, he is easy to read. He has seemed so strained for the last year. I do believe he and Amber had an affair just by the body language they had on and off screan. Don’t forget another fact is that he bought Amber a horse to ride with him while shooting The lone Ranger! She is just a lay for Johnny post long term relationship and there will belots of others until he gets tierd of it and finds someone new to setttle with.I think johnny left Vanessa (or vice versa) for good reasons and even if they do reconcile, after all the smoke clears those reasons will definately resurface.IT IS OVER!!!

Why is it that I get the feeling that neither Johnny or Vanessa like to play by the usual PR rules? Neither of them have said it was over, and yet their (or his) publicist makes the announcement. Who is making all these “source” and “friend” announcements anyway??? Is this just PR blowing smoke to improve Johnny’s image or what??? Maybe they really DO have an open relationship, and it just happens to be very French, different, and not guided by the usual customs.
