These are some photos from Saturday night’s Creative Arts Emmys red carpet – those are the technical awards for behind-the-scenes people in television, like the makeup people and art directors and such. But as the years go by, more celebrities show up, and the Creative Arts Emmys also give away awards to “Outstanding Guest Stars” too, so they’ll be guaranteed some “name” celebrities. First, let’s start with Christina Hendricks. You know I love her. You know I think she can’t dress her body, like, practically ever. This Jenny Packham dress will go down as one of Christina’s worst in a long line of unfortunate decisions. Everything is kind of awful here – the too-big print, the colors, and that crap on the shoulder. If you took off the shoulder detail and changed the fabric to a solid jewel-tone… it might actually be pretty.
Jeremy Davies won Outstanding Guest Star for Justified. LOOK AT HIM. He’s amazing!
Martha Plimpton won for The Good Wife (she’s so awesome in her guest starring role!). Martha wore Christian Siriano. I don’t hate it. I don’t think she’s a very fashionable woman (nothing wrong with that), so I’m just giving her some props for finding something that fit and wasn’t awful.
Neil Patrick Harris, because I know a lot of you have a crush on him.
Emily Deschanel in vintage. Eh. I think the styling is way off (her makeup is a mess) and the dress isn’t all that.
Malin Akerman’s dress has been called “daring” and “plunging”. I guess they don’t get much cleavage at the Creative Arts Emmys. It’s an okay look.
Jennifer Morrison in a red Romona Keveza gown – very pretty. My one complaint is that I would love to see her go a few shades darker with her hair. I just don’t care for her as a blonde.

Not crazy about the should puff, but I like the dress…
+1
Christina’s makeup, clothing and hair look the best on Mad Men. She should get that team to style her for everything. They seem to have figured out her body type and more. Even though they’re used to dressing her for the 60s, I think they’ll make her look fresher and more modern than the person “styling” her now.
Yes, she looks great on Mad Men — I think because the styles they use on her are minimalist & they let her curves do the talking. That’s what she needs. …Have you noticed that January Jones always looks great on the show but not on the red carpet as well? They should both hire the Mad Men team to style them.
So true about January. Mad Men stylists to the rescue! Please!
FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, WHERE IS CHRISTINA’S RIGHT ARM??
Yes, in a solid color and without the shoulder thing, Christina’s dress would be pretty.
Martha had a killer Emmy dress last year, don’t like this one though. But congrats to her for her well deserved win.
Jeremy Davies is AWESOME! I’m so glad he won, and it cracks me up that he’s rocking the Dickie Bennett hair still. If anyone isn’t watching Justified, you should be!
But it’s not! It’s a horrible mess with a huge boob octopus flower and a huge print.
That is one ugly dress on that figure.
Christina’s face is always so stunning. I love Martha Plimpton.
All but the red are pudu
Other than the bow on the shoulder of that dress (UGH) I love the print and the cut. The bow hides her arm, the dress detail, her hourglass figure-heck it makes her look wider than she is.
And I love Jeremy Davies, but my god that hair! It looks like he just rolled out of bed.
YES to all of it!
Frumpy and dumpy sadly. Doesn’t suit her even though it would look nice on someone else.
O MY. Doesn’t her stylist have eyes??
And please: someone should tell Jennifer Morrison she doesn’t look good blonde.
Agreed! Jennifer Morrison looks SO much better as a brunette. She also looks good with red hair, I just think she looks best when her hair is brown. Just for the love of god, please step away from the bleach and dye it darker again.
i don’t get christina’s dress – the huge “bow”, the print, the off-the-shoulder thing… ugh.
Ditch the bow; otherwise YoSaffBridge looks good.
Is Malin Akerman a part of a cast of any nominated show, a presenter, or what? Or was she just invited for the awards?
Christina H – Ugh, Hell no. Even the wrong color against her skin tone.
Martha Plimpton – I love the dress from the waist down, it’s just the top that’s screwing it up.
Malin Akerman – Horrible. Some women can pull off deep plunges without any support, but Malin is Not one of them. She just looks like she’s going to fall out of it.
I would like her dress as a bedspread.
I actually have a comforter that looks almost *exactly* like Christina’s dress! We had to stop using it b/c we have a calico cat & a black cat, and they were both “catmouflaged” when they lay on the bed!
Yay Neil won!
Does CH even have a stylist? Her clothes are so consistently ugly and unflattering except when she’s costumed for tv or movie roles.
When I saw the head shot of Christina, I thought it was a joke…I was thinking it must’ve been an actress dressing up to portray someone else.
It looks like something from Grey Gardens, she just needs a turban.
I don’t know if I’m in a weird mood this morning, but every dress looks horrible to me. I think it’s PMS and my upcoming h.s. reunion this Saturday. 🙁
I don’t know which one is a bigger drag.

Is someone starting to botox? I don’t think she needed it, her face looked great in the first place. I don’t know, no one’s face is that waxen, serene and immobile without assistance.
Bleagh. To me, it’s just like Michael K says: covering them up is not the answer. Framing them better is the answer.
I love Martha so much and am so happy she has a job. She looks wonderful.
Is it just me, or does it look like Jennifer Morrison did something to her face?
I’m not exactly sure, but her face is much more *pinchy* now than it was when she was a regular on House.
Unrelated: Man, was her character ever a self-righteous, childish, joyless drip on that show. I can’t think of a single episode wherein I didn’t think, ‘Silence, Cameron’, and they gave Saint Shut Up her happy ending while everyone else gets to toil in gussied up misery. Maybe that character nagged her first husband to death and he hadn’t been terminal after all– that would sure be more believable than so many men willingly signing up for a lifetime of that character’s pompous preachiness.
You’re not alone. The whole display is a festival of ‘Ugh’ as far as I’m concerned.
Why did this pop up in the wrong thread?
Ohhhhhh, if Jeremy Davies is rocking that Dickie Bennett hair-do… must mean he is part of the new season of Justified! Yea!
What would Rayland do without Dickie Bennett being around to annoy him!?!?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am not going to sh*t on Christina Hendricks style.
She always tries to look her best.
And having huge boobs, they not easy to dress. So far in all her red carpet adventures, she has never had a wardrobe malfunction.
I see her putting a lot of effort in trying to dress classically. Without going all hooker fresh.
In your face in bandage dresses and platform shoes. With tits and ass hanging out all over the place.
So I refuse to say anything ugly about her trying to look her best.
And Martha Plimpton… she has one of the funniest shows on TV. If you have not watch “Raising Hope”… you are missing out. Her and that husband of hers on that show, are my favorite TV couple.
Christina looks best with sleeker hair, like the straight hair style she had the other day with the back dress.
She looks so awful here, I can’t even with that dress, ugh.
Jeremy Davies is so good on Justified that I forget Dickie Bennett isn’t real. Wear your hair any way you want, baby.
Terrible: wrong colour, wrong cut (or maybe it’s just that blob on her shoulder competing with her large rack), wrong pattern.
She doesn’t look like a natural redhead to me…hence, the colours of her hair, skin, clothing don’t work together.
I actually like Emily Deschanel’s makeup. She usually goes more understated, but I think that dark red lipstick looks awesome!
And I totally agree that Christina Hendrick’s dress in a solid color minus the should frouf would be pretty. So, in other words, a different dress completely 🙂
