These are some new photos of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds. Last night, they attended “Chanel Fine Jewelry’s 80th anniversary of the ‘Bijoux De Diamants’ collection created by Gabrielle Chanel.” Of course Ryan and Blake did not walk the carpet together or anything. Blake walked the carpet by herself, twirling and showing off her Chanel dress and Louboutin heels. Ryan seemed to stay off the carpet, walking into the event separately (with a poorly dressed girl who I can’t ID).
Thoughts on Blake’s dress? When I first looked through the photos, I assumed she was wearing Chanel because it was a Chanel event, but I still had a moment of “Damn, is she wearing Marchesa?” Because that’s who Blake Lively is – she’s the girl who can make Chanel look like Marchesa. She doesn’t want to admit it. Anna Wintour doesn’t want to admit it. Karl Lagerfeld doesn’t want to admit it. But Blake’s “look” is just so downmarket, she makes expensive Chanel couture look like Marchesa ice-skater bulls—t.
Blake was also showing off her giant engagement ring too. I’m searching for the best photos we have of it… FOUND THEM! It looks really, really pink in these photos. And I’m glad Blake got a manicure for the major red carpet debut. Also: Blake’s ring is huge, but it’s still smaller than Jennifer Aniston’s quartz rock.

Of course for the rich and famous it’s probably called something goopy like “pearl luster dust” “diamond finishing mist” caviar this or that. Though I wouldn’t put it past the girl to walk into the nearest body shop and be all “oh my god vanilla glitter body spray. I can smell like cupcakes and look fancy!”

Whenever someone has a high carat ring, saying it looks like costume jewelry is the go to insult. I’m sure it’s gorgeous and pricey looking up close and I’m sure she loves it. You would too if you had it.

@Marie you’re absolutely right; the ring does look like costume jewelry. That dress also looks cheap; it may not be cheap but it looks cheap and so does Blake.
It’s really all about styling though isn’t it? If the dress was a little more fitted to her body, her hair put up, and her shoes not so plain, she would’ve looked a lot better. And I have to agree with the ring looking like costume jewelry, because it really does.
I think the ring is pretty – I just saw Aniston’s so I may be biased. However, I don’t think Blake is doing it justice. She is slouching and overall uncomfortable in that awful on her dress.
I like that dress. Is there no wedding ring? Is that what we do when we have a zillion carat engagement ring?

In JA’s defense, I saw better pics than the ones CB posted yesterday and it looks MUCH better in the other pics. Still too big for my taste, but doesn’t look quite as costume-jewleryish.

Yup its the hair and her make up choices IMO. She always looks so beady eyed… makes her nose look bigger (sorry…). If she made her eyes up more it might distract from it… or I could just be an a**hole. 🙂
The ring is Lorraine Shwartz, so not surprised that it looks cheap…she’s the Kardashian’s favored jeweler for her celeb discounts.
Lorraine Schwartz designed Beyonce’s engagement and wedding rings and jewelry for a lot of other celebs, including Blake, before KK came calling.
I like the ring and the manicure, but don’t appreciate the trend for formal dresses with pockets.

That dress is awful. The color, the cut, the fabric. Not good at all.
I think the manicure is actually what makes the ring look even tackier. The color is cute but if you have a gigantic pink diamond on you finger, go with a clear polish.
I’ve got nothing to say one way or the other about Blake. But that dress! Ugh, it photographs like a cheap satin. Maybe it’s better in person… I don’t get the Louboutins with the dress — at all. And as for her nails, it’s a shame that she went with Chinchilly (Essie). Pretty sure that’s what it is. It’s a great color, but way matchy-matchy with a silvery dress. She looks a bit like a little girl playing dress up here.

Maybe it does look better in person, but anything satin-y is so difficult. She has a killer figure, it can’t be that hard for her to look elegant, can it??? Btw, when I say the ring is tacky, it’s not necessarily criticism. I’ve been known to wear tacky rings although they’re certainly not diamond rings. It’s just … this is her engagement ring. It’s fine for a while but won’t she get tired of it?

I think she’s stunning. What I like about Blake is she avoided the typical clubbing acting like an asshole starlet route. She seems very grounded and down to earth.

If I could give this girl a makeover…I’d start by cutting her hair so it ends just above her shoulders. Since her face is quite oval/long, the long hair only drags it down and makes her face look even longer.
Then I’d dye it a cold ash blond color.
She’d stop wearing tacky dresses and instead wear more classic pieces, she’d still show off her great body but it wouldn’t be boobs and ass at the same time which reminds me, no low weird cleavage like the white thing she wore to comic con with Ryan.

This is so true, and so peculiar with all the help at her disposal.
I sit on the fence where this girl is concerned. On the one hand, I see that is the girl next door who got incredibly lucky and jumped onto the famewhore ladder. On the other hand, I see something quite natural and homely about her, which is refreshing when alot of other women her age are brandishing everything ‘fake’. She is a mixture of the sublime, the mediocre, the natural, the phoney, the famewhore and the cookie-baking housewife. I can’t quite pin her, but she is a tad too dull to waste time trying. The ring – another thing I sit on the fence about it, in essence it is too tacky and barbie-doll looking, smacks of costume jewellery cheapness…but whilst it might not be everybody’s taste, I appreciate that it was unique and tailored for the girl’s taste.

I think the girl is Jordane Crantelle, Gaspard Ulliel’s girlfriend, but I’m not sure. I just know that she works for chanel and that she is a lucky bitch. I wish Gaspard was also at this event, so you could talk about him, he is so hot. He’s doing a play “Que faire de Mr Sloane”, and it’s a little dirty, he plays a character who stay with a strange family and they all want and try to sleep with him.

Actually, it’s not random because she works at Chanel and to answear my own question, they’re not dating anymore.
Didn’t much care for the dress on the runway, and don’t much care for the shortened version here. I know it’s couture and they’re going for a modern twist on a vintage look but, apart from the back, it’s just not a special design. It doesn’t help that silk satin wrinkles like crazy. It’s not as noticeable in smaller doses or darker colours, but a full dress of pale blue? They should have greeted her with a steamer the minute she stepped out of the car.
The shoes are ok, but don’t really go with the dress.
I like her ring. It’s bigger than anything I would wear, but she’s a tall girl and can pull it off. I like the cut and band.
Makeup is nice, but not feeling the hair at all.

Is it just me or is the constant pink lipstick her high fashion failure? Yes of course, it’s also her hair but damn girl, try something new with your color palette. Baby pink eyeshadow, blush AND lipstick. It is AUTUMN, the dress is silver, and her makeup has been done like that for three years, save magazine shoots. So, three reasons right there.
