The New York City premiere of the new movie “Marley and Me,” based on the best selling memoir about a family with the worst dog ever, encouraged Manhattan celebs and socialites to bring their favorite four-legged friends with them for a turn on the red carpet. The VIP (which, in this case stands for “Very Important Pooch”) screening of the movie brought out stars and their dogs. I wonder if they got to bring the dogs into the movie with them? I bet dogs would be better behaved than most people in a movie theater. They wouldn’t talk on cell phones through the whole movie and wouldn’t put their feet up on the back of your chair. My dogs love to watch TV. Aside from the obvious shows like “The Dog Whisperer,” their favorites include “Spongebob Squarepants” and any documentary on National Geographic. Last week one of my dogs sat with me and watched an entire documentary about carpenter ants.
I haven’t read “Marley and Me” but I will probably go see the movie. I saw the trailer for it and it looks cute. I’m a sucker for dog movies anyway. I loved “Bolt,” the new Disney movie with John Travolta as the voice of a dog.
Pictured at the “Marley and Me” premiere are: actor Denis Leary and family with their dog, Daphne; gossip columnist Cindy Adams with her two silky Yorkshire Terriers; Bianca, the bulldog belonging to radio host Howard Stern and his wife, Beth Ostrosky; Abigail Breslin, who didn’t have a dog but still looked cute; newscaster Chuck Scarborough and wife with their dog, Oliver; “Spin City” actor Richard Kind with his daughter, who saw the movie after doing some Christmas shopping; another picture of Bianca with Beth Ostrosky, and NY philanthropist Craig Hatkoff and family with their dog. I have a mini-Schnauzer that loves to watch TV, but she hates large animals and barks incessantly at them. Elephants and Rhinos are her sworn enemies.
Well then, it’s a good thing you have her to protect you from rampaging jungle creatures!
My cat is also a big fan of Spongebob Squarepants!
Like I need an article on CB to tell me this film will sputter and tank out. I love my big puppies though.
My cat watches some TV, but only if there are other housecats on. He’s totally species-centric.
Read the book–it’s funny and sweet–a great read! Kind of nervous that the movie will be a let down after the reviews.
The dog gets sick in the end and they put him to sleep.
There, I saved you the hassell. The book is great by the way.
Yeah, I won’t be watching it.
Reason: I had a yellow labrador puppy that looked just like Marley, and he died at ten months old in the middle of the night in March.
I’d be a weeping mess.
i think the movie is going to be let down…i’d rather read the book. Maybe i’ll wait till after x-mas to see…don’t think i want to see the dog die.
judging by the box office, it looks like Jennifer Aniston is giving Brad Pitt a run for his money…
