Ashlee Simpson and Pete Wentz have revealed the first picture of their baby son Bronx, for free, not on the cover of a magazine but on their official website.
Underneath a banner wishing us all “Happy Holidays” the couple share a picture of themselves with six week old baby Bronx, as Pete kisses his head.
We decided to share the best gift we could ever receive with you: Bronx Mowgli Wentz. We couldn’t be happier. And in the spirit of the holidays, we’d like to encourage you to give on your own. Below is a list of worthwhile charities that need your support.
They then invite you to donate to the International Rescue Committee which helps refugee families, Room to Grow which assists babies born into poverty, and the Richie-Madden Foundation for children’s issues.
I think this is the best way to premiere your new baby if you’re a celebrity. While rumors were rife that no one wanted to pay for baby Bronx, Pete blogged that they were offered “mounds and mounds of money by mags… to pimp out the baby.” He claimed that “we just don’t want to go down that road with him,” but added that “We are not placing judgment on those that do.”
With all the bad news about the economy, people don’t want to hear that someone made a few million for posing for photographs with their new baby, when for most of us a new baby means a sacrifice financially. We non-celebs also debut our baby photos to family and friends where we look sleep deprived and still six-months pregnant, not fabulously photo-shopped and glamorous on a magazine cover.
That picture is heartwarming. Christmas spirit overtakes me and suddenly I love them both, wish them well, and appreciate the artistry of their music, as if by magic!
Good for them for taking the high road with this. I honestly do believe they were probably offered a good amount of money for pictures- the tabloids have this sick fascination with celeb babies and undoubtedly wanted to cash in on Bronx.
Ashlee and Pete may be overpaid douchebags, but at least they are choosing to have a little class with handling their child.
I think this was the perfect way to debut a celeb’s kid. Good for them!
Free baby photos! Wow. Get what you “paid” for I guess. A side note: Stating that you’re not “judging others” for “pimping” their baby photos is disingenuous. He’s absolutely passing judgement and trying to seem better. I really can’t stand him. I’m completely disinterested in her, but he annoys me.
Pete Wentz showed some class?! Christmas miracle!
Come to think of it, Ashlee’s probably sensitive about things like this, seeing as how her dad wrote the book on “pimping out” kids…
How wrong is it that I wished they put Bronx Mowgli in a Jungle Book outfit for his first public picture?
I don’t think it’s pimping at all – the paparazzi love to sell their “exclusive” first pictures of celebrity babies – why shouldn’t the parents be the ones to make that money?
Also, more than a few of my friends paid for professional photos with their babies so they could have pretty pictures of themselves with their new kids. It’s not like we’re all shlubs who can barely brush our own hair for the first six months of a child’s life.
They only took the “high road” because taking money wasn’t an option. Please, this is an offshoot of the $impson clan. And Pete is a f*cking douche. You think a guy who publicly discusses doing his wife in the butt is going to pass up a big payday?
I don’t care for them but the baby is cute. It’s at least a nice gesture that they suggest to donate to charities.
If they decided not to pimp out their son, why did they name him Bronx Mowgli? Celebs who decide not to pimp out their children dont name them attention getting celebrity names.
I dunno, it’s not just the celebrities giving out wacky names. Some people in my generation have pretty unfortunate naems as well.
If I had any respect for Pete Wentz whatsoever, it’s gone now that I read that interview about his wife in the sack.
I love the way how they were so reluctant to show the world their baby up until now, all of a sudden.
