Yes, we’re still talking about Kim Kardashian’s awful Givenchy dress at the Met Gala. Let’s call it “Givenchy-gate: Day 3”. I grew up thinking Givenchy was the pinnacle of couture, THE design house for the rich and beautiful and tasteful. But with so many famous fashion houses, Givenchy has been taken over by designers who simply want their work to be known, who want to simply get their designs on famous ladies. So it is with Riccardo Tisci, the current designer for Givenchy. Tisci is a close friend of Kanye West, and Tisci personally designed Kim’s Met Gala gown. He thought his design was gorgeous!
Why did designer Riccardo Tisci cover Kim Kardashian in flowers for the 2013 Met Gala? To celebrate her pregnancy, of course! In an interview with Women’s Wear Daily, the Givenchy designer is defending the all-over flower dress he created for the pregnant reality star to wear on the red carpet at the May 6 Costume Institute Gala in New York City.
“She is a really good friend, and I am very happy she came to the Met for the first time. I love Kim,” Tisci told WWD. “Doing maternity was fantastic. I wanted to have a Kim Kardashian moment, because Kim always supports me.”
“She is the future wife of a really good friend of mine,” Tisci added about Kardashian’s boyfriend Kanye West. (Kardashian’s divorce from Kris Humphries was finalized Apr. 19, but she has not yet announced an engagement to West.) “I wanted to have a moment of family . . . Kim, Kanye and the baby. It will be a family that I will be close to.”
And Tisci said that Kardashian, 32, gave him total control over creating her look for the Punk: Chaos to Couture theme dress.
“I have dressed many pregnant women in the past. People can say what they want. To me, pregnancy is the most beautiful thing in the world, and when you celebrate something, you give people flowers,” he explained. “I think she looked amazing. She was the most beautiful pregnant woman I dressed in my career.”
Though some critics were less than thrilled with the mom-to-be’s dress for the evening, a source told Us Weekly that Kardashian supported Tisci’s vision. “She loved the dress just the way Riccardo designed it for her,” the insider said. “His vision for her was a romantic Spanish theme with touches of boldness and punk.”
Eh. His defense of his dress was so personal, it’s hard to yell at him. It feels like he was genuinely trying to accommodate Kim and Kanye and he thought he made an interesting and beautiful dress for Kim. Sources claimed that Kim demanded sleeves be put onto the dress at the last minute, so maybe the original design wasn’t quite so… odd.

Which is pretty funny. And this week’s Life & Style cover story is all about how Kanye is trying to convince Kim to have the baby in Paris. A source claims, “Kanye wants the baby born in Paris. He would love the baby to have dual citizenship.” I thought that sounded funky, so I looked it up – France is not like America, a baby born of two foreign parents does not automatically get French citizenship. The baby has to grow up, reach adulthood, and then apply for French citizenship.
Kanye also (allegedly) wants to raise the baby in France and Kim is “refusing” because “It’s so important for her to be near her family and have the baby grow up around its aunts, uncles and cousins. There’s no way she’ll stop fighting Kanye on this.” Kanye has gone back on his agreement to only spend three months in Paris, and now he wants to move there permanently. Meanwhile, Kim wants to give birth in LA, using the same family doctor who delivered Kourtney’s babies. And Kris Jenner has already booked the room at Cedars and “paid the deposit”. Ha. Get used to LA, ‘Ye.

Just like her and Kris H discussed where they were going to live after they got married, and when they wanted children and other important things – like NOT moving in with Scott and Khourtney right after the honeymoon. Have said this before (and Lindsay Lohan fits the same profile) she is an “at the moment” person. Never looks further ahead than today. Never looks at the consequences her actions will have in the future.
Well the rumor is that Tisi is more then Kanye’s “good friend” .. And that’s why he’s been holed up in Paris for the last year, while the love of his life who just so happens to be pregnant with his child lives 3000 miles away.
There’s a video of the Met red carpet in it Giselle is posing with Tom just behind her and across then walks Kim, and it’s so jarring, to see these tall gorgeous specimens and this very short fat glob, in a hideous neck to feet flower body cover… It’s truly brings home the joke that is Kim Kardashian.

I find it kind of odd that Kanye Wants his baby to be born in a foreign country. Why? Of course Kim wants to give birth in the US so the baby someday might become president of the US. I totally believed that Kim made the dress look even worse by adding gloved sleeves. that dress would have looked better (a little) if it would have been sleeveless and low cut because of the busy pattern.
He just wants it (god I feel kinda awful for saying ‘it’ but there’s not gender yet…how about ‘them’?) born *away* from the Kardashain camp. That’s it.
A child must only have one American parent and can be born anywhere to qualify to be President. I just want to put that out there.
You can put it out there but until the Supreme Court decides “natural-born citizen” may not be so cleanly defined.

I knew when she got pregnant, it was going to be gossip heaven (given that she was still married) but I didn’t think it would get this funny. It’s been one thing after another. She made this into a whole spectical. Is it bad that I’m enjoying these stories?
Nah, don’t feel bad…I’m enjoying them too! I will say that I don’t think people should be dumping on KK for her weight because come on, she IS pregnant.
However, I cannot help but giggle to myself when I see the hideous outfits that she (or Kanye?) insists on wearing.
The more I see the dress the more I don’t mind it.The glove sleeves are terrible as are the matchy-matchy shoes, but she looked fine. Better than a lot of the people there, which considering she’s heavily pregnant is quite remarkable.
I really like this dress. Florals are in now so why not wear a beautiful Victorian print. The glove sleeves were a mistake though. The shoes aren’t that bad.
Nothing against floral patterns but the flowers here are small and the dress has to cover an awful lot of pregnancy so that she looks like a fluffy sofa.

Nothing would have helped that dress the neckline was too high the gloves just stupid and the shoes were just wrong. He designed cause you give people like flowers and that was the BEST design and material he could come up with? Seriously I could do better then that. As for Kim being Kanye’s future wife yeah don’t see that happening he would have to actually live with her which he doesn’t seem to care for. LOL
If Kanye really wants to move to Paris permanently, & Kim doesn’t, I would think it’s because if she does, she will be spending a lot of time on her own.

Isn’t Riccardo Tisci Kanye’s rumored boyfriend? So either this dress was a big joke on Kim or Riccardo has finally come around and accepted that he will have to share Kanye with Kimmy. I wish my man wanted me to move to Paris I would be on the first flight out.

That quote from Tisci is as phony as this relationship. Kanye and Ricardo are the real couple – that’s why Kanye is adamant about staying in Paris. Kim was a publicity hookup that went horribly wrong, and now his ‘Golddigger’ song is sounding eerily prophetic.
Which is gross to think about because if Kim tricked Kanye that would mean that they actually had sex. And as someone said Kimmy can’t function without Mommy Dearest telling her what to do 24/7 so Paris isn’t happening. And can I just say again. If my man asked me to move to Paris I would be on the first flight out and he doesn’t even have to love me or be into women just get me to Paris and set me up and I will figure out all the rest.

Yeah, sure, pregnancy is lovely and beautiful when it is Heidi Klum doing it. Most of the rest of us look pretty much like Kim K! Great Big Huge Fat Whales…with swollen ankles. Honestly, that is why I am enjoying her pregnancy so much! I use to assume the problem with just me, if I was more clued in, I could dress well during pregnancy instead of living in FLIPPING leggings and sweats. And, honestly, if this Kardashian chicky slapped on maternity wear she picked up at Macy’s…we would be mocking that too.
I think Kim K might be able to make a go of a real life with Kanye if she separates from her family’s fame whore ways. But will she? I see no sign of it. This poor baby will probably have only one parent.
She actually had a few nice outfits. The one that comes to mind is the white shirt with the jeans. They fit properly and didn’t make her look larger than she is from the pregnancy (you get big being pregnant – a fact – you can’t control that so I am not ). Most if the outfits she has worn or either too small or have too much material in them and are too large. She has the money to dress nice and doesn’t do so. The silk black dress would have been okay had it been a size or two larger. It’s okay to wear curve hugging clothes if that’s what you like, but they still have to be the appropriate size.
Kanye is being an ass, even thou this is Kim we’re talking about he should be there for her. It seems like he’s just making excuses while she get to do everything alone.. and that’s sad.

France has REALLY strict paparazzi laws, especially around children- they have to blur out the faces of children, and it’s pretty easy for famous people to live a normal life in Paris.
Which is probably why it’s appealing to Kanye, and why it would be death for Kim. If Kanye lives in France, he still has his music career to keep him famous and relevant. If Kim lives in France, without her E! shows and the daily paparazzi interest in her and the baby, she’ll be Paris Hilton.

True. You don’t see the children faces. The freedom of the press is not for paparrazzi here. The law give everyone, stars included, a right to respect for one’s “private and family life, an ownership of one own image. Meaning that no one can legally publish (in France) a photo of you in your non-professional life without your consent.
He is marrying someone with a career. Yes, she is a brand and no matter we make fun of it, she does make a lot of money and seems to love her “career.” She has sisters she loves, cousins for the baby, and friends and a life. He wants to move her to France and then what, go travel with him on tours or sit home in a strange country. Bull. If I was just having a baby now, no way would I leave my family and go to France with a man who is gone a lot anyway. So there you are, no friends, no family support system. It’s the happiest time of your life and why go live in a strange country where you know no one if you don’t have to when you are a very new first-time mother just because all of a sudden he likes France. I call it a man who sees it as a way to have even more control over her.

Lainey covered this today and this is AMAZING. I too had to check and that is so funny that she was cut out and it was deliberate. There are many photos of couples attending and Kanye is the only one identified and you can tell Kim has been cut out because they left just a slice of that horrific dress. Still doesn’t explain why Anna invited her to dinner unless she invited Kanye and Kim forced her way into the invite. I mean if you invited a friend/business aquaintance over and he brought his very pregnant leech along not many would have the heart to turn it away. Now that this photo has been cropped I am now more than ever convinced that Anna Wintour and Riccardo Tisci agreed to let Kim come so they oculd get their own joke in on her. I even think Kanye was in on the joke. I have suspected and others have wondered the same thing if he really hates her considering the way he dresses her, the fact that he has fled to another continent and will not even open the door for her.
There are advantages in Europe more than US however I don’t understand why they can’t find a common ground to make this work if it is true. I don’t know how much of the information being put out is true considering Kanye is more private than Kim when it comes to his life.

I think the dress would have looked way better without sleeves , it kind of reminds me of a straight jacket with those gloves .. I would absolutely go crazy trying to wear something like this . It looks so claustrophobic and tight . Sleeveless arms would have made it look less like she was upholstered head to toes .
