While not thrilled with her drunken antics, she’s always been a pretty responsible human being and I just can’t get on board the “Reese is just like Lohan” bandwagon. She had a ridiculously bad night but there really isn’t any evidence that it’s a pattern.

*I have “forgiven” her because I accept that she is human, even though she is a celeb.
*I “forgive” her because I know that to be a good person, it doesn’t mean that you never have a moment of being horrible…it means that you are kind most of the time. I didn’t pretend to know the sum of her character before, and I don’t pretend to know now.
*I “forgive” her because I have friends who are amazing and have made similar mistakes and I know that it gave them a better understanding of their crime, it didn’t define their character.
*I “forgive” her because I never expected that she was perfect to begin with (and she never stated that she was).

I agree too – if she made a habit out of behaving like that it’d be one thing, but as far as I know, she hasn’t. Very poor decision making and irresponsible behavior, absolutely, but let’s at least see where she goes from here before declaring her Lohan 2.0.

I don’t know if it is staged. I don’t think grocery shopping is really all that suspicious, and I have seen Reese at the Whole Foods by my house a couple times. (I have also seen paparazzi hanging out in trees there on occassion, too).

You’d think that, eventually, people would learn that it’s just better to keep your mouth shut about the ex, especially when there are kids involved, but it seems like very few ever do. Comments on that site were not very kind.

And I’ve always liked her, her face is so sweet, it makes me thing she must be a nice person. I’m sorry, but is Reece a raging alcoholic? Ya’ll are something else… she made a HUGE mistake and thankfully no one was hurt but I’m sure it’s something she regrets but can’t change or take back. I guess none of you guys making comments have ever done something horribly wrong. *eye roll* I’m just sayin…it’s annoying. In high school, my cousin and I went to test drive a car I was buying and I didn’t notice that it was in 1st gear, jolted forward and hit a pole. But ever since then (1992), my cuz has called me a bad driver. Car accidents for me; zero. Her; 6…but I’M the bad driver. One bad decision or incident does not define a person.. just let it go guys…let it go..

I don’t think Reese has ever said she was perfect. She HAS been pretty well behaved for a decade or two now, so I dont’ think one screw up is worth all of this hate.
Lets find someone more worthy of being lambasted than a woman who got caught in a taxi, drunk and lost her cool. There is no hx of her being a drunk or losing her cool.
If you are talking about Reese, please don’t re-write history. She didn’t lose her cool in a taxi. She was in a car with her DRUNK husband while he was DRUNK driving. You know, putting people’s lives at risk. Then when the police were doing their jobs, trying to prevent her DRUNK husband from killing people with his DRUNK driving, she repeatedly tried to stop the police from doing their jobs and tried to play the “Do you know who I am?” card. It’s a very different picture than the one you are trying to paint. If you don’t think what she did was a big deal, that’s fine. Just don’t try to defend her for what happened with something that didn’t actually happen.

AngelaH-you are correct. I went back to re-read it and he was driving DRUNK. He could have KILLED someone. Witherspoon was not driving, she was loud mouthed, she was arrogant. Clearly you can be too, so can we all. There is NO proof she is an alcoholic. Next.

I don’t buy her America’s sweetheart image. I found her a little self-righteous and judgmental before this whole mess went down (based on some comments that she has made), and I think the way she spoke to that police officer while drunk might reveal that she naturally has a bit of an attitude.
That said, I don’t think one drunken mess incident suddenly makes it surprising for her to be seen sober. That was the first time I ever saw her drunk like that, and she’s been in Hollywood for a long time. I don’t think addicts have that much self-control.
She has ALWAYS been a drinker, a drunk. She just never has been caught and not the first time her dude was drunk driving.

When I saw her mug shot for the drunken escapade, my first thought was “Bet she’s really glad her hair was dark for that picture, not so recognizable!” But we’ll see if she and her husband use sober drivers from now on, that would be redeeming enough for me. It’s the repeaters who should be shown no mercy, they’re too dangerous.
