Leo DiCaprio dances, throws money in ‘Wolf of Wall Street’ trailer: amazing?

This was not what I was expecting. At all. When you hear words like “Wall Street… Martin Scorsese… Leonardo DiCaprio… Kyle Chandler,” aren’t you expecting a straight-up drama? But the trailer for The Wolf of Wall Street is something altogether different. It seems crazy and funny and Leo in particular looks like he’s giving everything to this lead role. Leo and Marty are so tight – I think Scorsese really does get the best performances out of Leo, and Leo just seems to adore his favorite director. It’s nice. Here’s the trailer for The Wolf of Wall Street:

Supporting Leo, we’ve got Jonah Hill (in his first dramatic turn since his Oscar-nominated performance in Moneyball), Matthew McConaughey, Jean Dujardin (he plays a Swiss banker or something, and I didn’t see him in the trailer), Kyle Chandler, and the blonde woman is Margot Robbie. She’s an interesting choice for this film, right? There were lots of rumors about Margot and Leo during filming – they were either hooking up or Leo accepted Margot into his makeshift Rat Pack and she was “one of the boys”.

The film is based on Jordan Belfort’s book of the same name, an autobiography of his days as a scamming, scheming stockbroker in the 1990s. Spoiler: He eventually went to jail. You know what this trailer reminds me of? Goodfellas. This is like Goodfellas for Wall Street. It also gave me strong “last days of Enron” vibes.

    • Abra says:

Right? Money throwing, Matthew McConaughey playing Matthew McConaughey: This Rich Banker, awful dancing, bad suits and hair, throwing Little People… all the while we’re supposed to buy that Leo is playing a 26 year old.
All that fancy camera work and crazy plotting can’t trick me into believing he’s 26. Sorry Scorsese.

        “Matthew McConaughey playing Matthew McConaughey”

Lol! That made my morning. Isn’t that every role he plays?

  2. Emily says:

Haha I have no idea why everyone though Margot was “so much older” than she is…
She was on “Neighbours” in Australia (a soap) and I just can’t see the agedness everyone refers to.

    Cannot wait.

      Ditto!
I want to see it too. I don’t care for hills but Leo is a fine actor.

That guy from the walking dead is making top movies. Niceeeee

      • MorticiansDoItDeader says:

Jon Berenthal (is the guy from the walking dead) and he is awesome! I never thought he was attractive until I met him, but he is so personable and now I find him super hot!

    • It looks SOO good!!! Can’t go wrong with the combination of Scorsese and DiCaprio!

    • Turtle Dove says:

      Me too I’m in.

First for Leo = woman’s high heel shoe on the face. lol

      Leo dancing = omg classic

  4. Birdie says:

Yes! Finally a role not too dramatic and dark/boring for Leo. Seeing him dance was adorable and the film looks great. No one can do it like Scorsese.

  5. Eleonor says:

What the hell is that??? The crazy version of Wallstreet without Michael Douglas? It seems fun!
I can’t imagine a Wallstreet movie without Micheal Douglas. Sorry Leo.

  6. Anna says:

The trailer kind of plays like Gatsby redux…and it looks bad bc Leo’s character and that whole environment (the roaring 20s/80s for the rich and the frivolous) seems redundant

  7. Pixie says:

This looks like so much fun, I’ll definately be going to see it!

  8. Sabah says:

That movie looks so damn good!! I thought she was Emma stone. Also how did they make him look so young? He looked his age in gatsby..??

  9. Leigh_S says:

LOVE Leo and Marty together. This movie looks like a trip and a half. I am SO there!

    meh…I hate dramadies..especially about money/wealth…

    I’m disappointed

I thought he would have the whole “mike douglas” vibe going–serious and sharklike..

Matthew’s face is disturbing..he will never look the same.

I’m in, I just watched the trailer three times. It looks a lot less serious than I thought and it seems like Leo will get to ham it up like in Django.

  13. j.eyre says:

They last scene of Leo and Matthew was a kick. The story appeals to me not but the performances and dialogue look good. I will probably wait for a review or two before I decide theater or DVD.

  14. duchessofhazard says:

Yeezus clips being used for movies already. Cool.

  15. Mandy says:

Looks good, can’t wait to see it!

Also KANYE! I know, I know. Huge douche. Love his new album though.

  18. Mia 4S says:

Nah, I can’t get into it. Michael Douglas did Wall Street better and American Psycho did the 80s better.

Leo in his late 20s? No…he’s very talented…but no. 🙂

  19. Happy21 says:

    I cannot wait!
This looks like a great film with great actors. I gotta put the release date in my calendar now 🙂

  20. gloaming says:

Looks fantastic! Can’t wait to see this.

  21. Jag says:

I detest Jonah Hill so will pass, even though I like Leo’s acting.

  22. Bacon! says:

This trailer is in some serious need of more Jon Bernthal.

  23. Reece says:

I might watch this just because of Matthew McConauhey.

  24. Mari says:

    Damn, this looks so good!

  25. Payal says:

This looks weird, Matthew can’t act and I can’t look at Leo’s face without wanting to punch it.

I don’t think Leo will get the Oscar this year.

  26. TheOriginalWaffle says:

Looked plotless and Gatsby-lite to me. Ick.

  27. Isabelle says:

Matthew is on a role with his acting gigs. Will go see it because of him. Looks good!

  28. Eileen says:

Leo split from Erin Heatherton because of Margot Robbie. They were on vacation together..

  29. NEENAZEE says:

I can’t wait to see this! The book was awesome… funny, criminal, informative, outrageous. And it looks like Scorsese captured it perfectly.
