I ended up looking at Cavill’s costume, lower parts, and was….underwhelmed. Sad in the pants.

  2. Neelyo says:

I think it would work better as Abbott and Costello Meet Superman. I hope this film kills the pretentious oh so serious superhero cycle. Please!!!

  3. Buckwild says:

NOOO! Leave batman alone and don’t suck him into the boring wall-drying time suck that was Man of Steel.

This doesn’t bode that well for Henry Cavill though. Why have another superhero in your movie? Usually it’s a new villain…does the studio think he needs a more charismatic partner to carry the movie? Depending on Ho they cast for Batman, I can see this boring piece of toast being burnt to a crisp

    • V4Real says:

WB was hoping that MOS would make Avengers/IM3 type of money and it didn’t. It did well but they wanted more plus the critics were not kind. So let’s do a buddy pairing because they know now Cavill can’t do it alone. BTW they are yanking people’s chain if they are waiting for a JL movie.

      • JenD says:

@v4real: as a comic book fan, you know DC says the heck with continuity and/or logic a lot of times. 🙂

      • Adrien says:

To Superman’s credit, Henry is an untested leading man, he’s basically unknown and they had a script that we’ve all seen and heard before. Add to that was a negative word of mouth from moviegoers and bad reviews from critics. Their box office is a huge accomplishment.

    • Thiajoka says:

      A-men!

    • JenD says:

It’s a Superman vs Batman movie, which is a fairly popular comic book storyline.

      • Relli says:

Totally, in the comic world they are bff’s. I have a 4 year old so my knowledge of Batman & Superman is a little embarrassing because as I am reading he comments I am thinking but if only you knew the depths of their friendship and rivalry!

      • V4Real says:

@JenD Yes I’m a comic book fan I know the story but that doesn’t change WB’s motive for shooting out that pairing so soon. Remember they were attempting to do a Wonderwoman and other solo films first but that plan fell through so now they throw this at us. This is going to be a completely different Batman or they will have to explain away Bruce coming out of retirement, taking back the crown from Robin as well as possibly regaining control of Wayne Enterprises. It doesn’t seem as if it will be cohesive as Marvel’s films. Bale please keep your word and stay away.

    • AP says:

I think the issue is more the fact that the WB and DC are waaaay behind Disney and Marvel. Disney/Marvel have released 3 Iron Man movies, a second Thor movie will be out this year, a second Captain America. Then Marvel has X-Men, Wolverine, and Spider Man with 20th Century and Sony. All the WB and DC have released recently are 3 Batman movies and Man of Steel. They’re playing catch up.

  4. Relli says:

I AM SO EXCITED FOR THE VERONICA MARS MOVIE!!!! THE TRAILER GOT ME RIDICULOUSLY PUMPED!!!

NEXT SUMMER CANNOT COME FAST ENOUGH!

  5. Elodie says:

Depressed? LOL! How about he looked tired and looked seriously older than his age though… My mate thought he looked 35+ haha! That said imo he never looks very comfy nor *totally* relaxed on red carpets and other public appearances.

Anyway, Superman/Batman is happening because imo Man of Steel didn’t reach the billion dollar expectations they were looking for, and add to that the film had lots of mixed reviews not to say awful perhaps I’m being nice. So they will level up by adding another heavyweight of a Superhero. Because let’s face it, a second chapter with only Lois/Clark at the Daily Planet and some villain… um no!

I wonder who is going to step into Christian Bale’s shoes… it’s going to be a tough one casting wise… and how are they going to introduce Wonder Woman at some point then? Perhaps in the third installment?

    • Samtha says:

I noticed that too–in the pics of him at Comic Con, he looks as if he’s aged a lot.

    • Andrea says:

I find all of this criticism so unfair.

Avengers was essentially the 5th sequel in a franchise.

Man of Steel was the FIRST movie. It made more than Batman Begins, the first Iron Man, Thor and Captain America. It’s ridiculous to try and hold it to the standards of movies that were sequels in franchises.

As a huge Superman fan (who does enjoy Batman) this is a huge blow to Superman.

There was TONS of story to tell in a stand alone Superman sequel. You are, imo, wrong to brush off just how important it is that they develop the complexities of Lois and Clark and of Clark’s relationship with Lex Luthor. These are the foundations of the Superman myth. Lex’s jealously/ego-mania behavior over Clark is vital to understanding what drives Superman forward to fight back against the fear and despair in the city.

As for Lois and Clark….there is enough depth in that love story that it has sustained not just 75 years of comics but several successful TV Franchises all on it’s own. This was an entirely new way to tell their story since Lois already knows the truth about Clark Kent. The movie will be doing this story a great disservice if they don’t focus on it.

I love Batman but frankly I think this is a desperate move on WB’s part. I think we were owed a Man of Steel sequel that followed through on the potential that they started in the first movie. It wasn’t a perfect film but there was potential there.

      • Elodie says:

and add to that some of the animated versions happen to even have superior storylines. Watch the latest one Justice League : the Flashpoint Paradox, it is dark, gritty, and very well done.

  6. Reece says:

Nope they’re gonna be beating the s**t out of each other and then become, civil.

  7. Side-Eye says:

I unleashed the most unholy screech when I found this out

  8. Lisa says:

I’m so sick of Batman, and I LOVE Batman. Warner Brothers is so afraid to make a movie without him. And what’s the deal with the Flash getting a movie before Wonder Woman because she’s too “complicated”? Give her a Xena costume in red and blue and have her run around with the Greek gods for a little bit like in her New 52 series. It wasn’t “too complicated” in Thor.

    • Side-Eye says:

I think one of the problems with a Wonder Woman movie is that she doesn’t really have a decent enough rogue’s gallery. I suppose they could do something with her father but to be honest I can’t remember one villain from her series.

      • Feebee says:

Can’t they make someone up for her. Use a little artistic license and give her a female Loki?

  9. Eve says:

haha loved Lainey’s comment regarding the possible outcome of Bale-Cavill pairing – that movie seriously lacked any chemistry although poor Henry was pretty decent in his role but that cringe-worthy script gave the movie just a facade of a Superman movie, nothing more. I say Superman 2 needs a new writer, not a Batman.

  10. lisa2 says:

I hate people constantly taking pictures of themselves. I don’t get it at all. But I will say Gerald is in good shape for a 70 year old man. His body at least looks better than a lot of celebrity men half his age. I think he should have put that towel up a bit. No different the those people posing half dude in magazines all the time.

The new Kick Ass 2 trailer looks really good. I actually liked the first movie a lot. I’m really tired of the constant Super Hero movies. So to me this will be an alternative. If you can’t handle foul language then not for you. But I love the campiness of this film. And that the good guys so to speak don’t have any powers.

  11. Tiffany27 says:

Does WB understand how this works? The Avengers was literally 10 years in the making. Everyone had their own film set up and everyone was carefully crafted and well thought out. Slow down WB. Focus on not making this suck instead of making money.

  12. Ela says:

LOL: “Nas and Mos Def could stop and ask for directions and it would be better than any verse on Yeezus.”

  13. sirsnarksalot says:

I bet Miley is out looking for a catsuit/leotard just like Rhianna’s now.

  14. Miss M says:

I don’t see anyone who could step up and be the next Batman. Come on, Bale! Step in!!! 🙂

    • Zukie says:

I’m just stating my own opinion. I don’t understand why people want Christian Bale to reprise his role as Batman. Don’t get me wrong, I love Bale and Nolan and I absolutely loved the Dark Knight trilogy. But this pairing people are rooting for actually makes no sense to me at all. It’s almost like saying Tim Burton’s Catwoman should’ve been Christopher Nolan’s Catwoman. Honestly, does it really make sense for Michelle Pfeiffer to be in the Dark Knight Rises? Maybe to you, but to me those movies have completely different tones and atmosphere. And directors. Same issue with the notion of C. Bale in Man of Steel 2. Besides, didn’t Batman retire in Nolan’s Batman?

  15. ClaireB says:

Well, they saw how good The Avengers made (and was), they saw the line up for the next X Men, which is probably going to burn the box office to the ground…they probably think they can do it too.

But god that man have no soul on his face.

  16. Pixie Witch says:

Not sure what pictures you ladies are looking at but Cavill looks mighty fine to me. As for the Batman addition I heard that it wasn’t going to be Christian Bale. That they didn’t know who it would be? Gordon-Levitt? (I thought he would be robin in the next Batman)

    • V4Real says:

This is going to be interesting b/c Marvel just snatched Joseph G Levit for Dr. Strange

      • Eve says:

        WHAT?????!!!!!!!!?

I’m not sure I like this — no, scratch that: I hate it, actually. It does not make any sense (Levitt as Dr. Strange).

I was hoping they’d hire *MY* CB husband for that role.

      • Bijlee says:

Ugh I hate that guy. JGL overrated pretentious douche.

    • Elodie says:

OMG no not JLG please! He looks like he has 2 dots on his head!

  17. Garrett says:

I can’t wait to see this Batman-Superman movie. I’m intrigued to see how this will turn out.

  18. the original bellaluna says:

Dennis Farina DIED THIS MORNING!!!!! I’m so sad – I adored him. He was great in everything he had a role in. I used to watch Crime Story with my parents when I was young.

RIP, Dennis. You will be sorely missed.

  19. Dani says:

These pictures just show how much of a shape Kate Upton DOESN’T have. She’s just square with big boobs.

  20. INeedANap says:

I don’t understand why it’s up in the air who the next Batman will be. Did no one see the end of the last movie? JGL clearly inherits the Batcave and all its attending stuff. A movie about JGL trying to figure out how to be the next Batman while facing down Superman is one I’d watch.

    • Relli says:

AW Yes, that was awesome a terrific way to tie in Robin without doing Batman & Robin. I am wondering if they will go the path of Dick Grayson/Nightwing becoming Batman and then tie in Robin with one of the boys living in the home at the former Wayne Manor becoming Jason Todd/Robin.

  21. Mia 4S says:

Depending on the Batman casting, I could get into this. Although a big part of me wants them to offer Bale a billion dollars to do it (I know, I know, move on!).

I would love to see Wonder Woman hit the big screen but only if done right (make Ares the God of War the villian, he could kick Loki’s ass). DC could be first in with a great female superhero. Marvel’s stuck Black Widow in playing second fiddle to boring Captain America (face it, she’s not getting her own movie for the foreseeable future) and then…well that’s it really for the Marvel females. Come on DC break some new ground!

  22. LilyRose says:

On paper, Cavill has it all; looks, physique, acting ability. But he has no charisma. Like someone said up thread he’s dead behind the eyes. I hope he is able to build a career on more than just looks. MoS did him no favors, not to say he isn’t more visible, just that it didn’t create a strong impression on the audience. It’ll be interesting to see how his career develops post Superman.

  23. ShakenNotStirred says:

People complaining about this concept aren’t familiar with the comics or the relationship between Wayne and Kent. Warner Bros had a script for this back during the I Am Legend days and fanboys and fangirls have been looking forward to this for some time.

As for JGL. He does not fit as Batman. Besides it should be Kent and Wayne not Kent and Robin.

Fassbender would have been perfect as Wayne/Batman if Marvel didn’t snatch him up. PERFECT.

  24. Josie says:

Wow not many fans on this website huh?
Almost everyone I have spoken to has said that Henry owned that role, even the critics who dissed the movie still said he was the best part. It made tons of money and the same studio immediately signed him on to do another movie.
If that doesn’t prove he is of to a good start I don’t know what does.

The problem with Henry is that there is no problem. People hate that. I hope he doesn’t change and stays his uncomfortable stiff self on red carpets.

    • Side-Eye says:

I don’t get the Cavill hate either, personally. I thought he was the perfect Superman. He was kind of corny, but Supes is corny as all hell to begin with, and always came across as this perfect Ken doll creature anyway. And watching him in interviews, I think Henry is fun if a little vanilla, and there’s nothing wrong wit that. He may be a little uncomfortable on red carpets, but he’s delectable in street clothes.

    • Lisa says:

Well said Josie. As much as I like HC, even I’m amazed that he’s been ranking #1 on IMDB for over a month (and again this week). I love Cumberbatch too but he’s only #51 despite a ton of films coming out, and Fassbender & Hiddleston are just “Top 500”? What the hell?

      • Mia 4S says:

@Lisa, I actually read up on it and the IMDB rankings mean nothing…literally nothing. They will rise anytime an actor hits the news, for good or bad reasons, and people are googling. They drop again once the story fades. Some HUGE actors are only Top 500 when there is not much going on, including the Twilight bunch in spite of their crazy obsessed fans. Unfortunately for Henry the ranking may have us much to do with his dating life as the movie; probably more.

    • Elodie says:

I loved how he portrayed Superman whereas I couldn’t get into Amy Adams portrayal of Lois. I just didn’t like what the writers did, i.e. a weak storyline. And now to that they add anew Batman to the sequel because they want more $$$ instead of trusting him enough to carry the next film but given the mixed reviews they will bet on all $$$ to keep the franchise alive.

    • Adrien says:

Yep, I’m a fan of Cavill as Supes. He may lack the charisma of Christopher Reeve but he did good nonetheless. No one can replace Christopher. Henry’s a very good looking guy. Hard to pass up on this. The only person who could replace him as Superman is Shaquille O’ Neal. He’s the original Man of Steel.

  25. Wednesday says:

Who cares about Superman and Batman!?
I just found REAL LIFE Thor! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R6rtCe0Hdxc

  26. Lexi says:

Christian bale is the hottest and coolest batman ever, he will always be my fav batman

  27. user00005 says:

Low blow and major diss to HC. Horrible. As if the studio saying he just isn’t good enough, or ‘enough’ enough to launch a sequel. How about believing in an actor and franchise?

If I were him, I’d be fuming. This dumb film will have done nothing for him in the long run, and now he has to share the limelight with some other ‘hot stuff’? So embarrassing. Now, I think a Superman-Batman flick is not a bad idea, but how about giving HC a good trilogy of Superman films, then consider a joint-movie?

He should have a few Superman flicks out before he experiments with the genre.

  28. stace says:

Like I said I am forever DC girl, Henry did a great job as Superman, I enjoyed it. But Christian Bale will forever be my favorite Batman, he’s the only one I see as Batman and I’m probably alone but I wouldn’t want to see him replaced 🙁

  29. Bea says:

Let me show you all a relaxed and not stiff HC…

    http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=cGYpPHjvUU8

Tell me that was not sexy as hell!
