We heard news a few weeks ago that combative Real Housewives of New Jersey star, Teresa Giudice, was in talks for her own reality spin-off show. This seemed plausible, since Teresa’s angry, flamboyant personality made her the standout star of the show. Now that Teresa and her husband, Joe Giudice, have been indicted for a whopping 39 charges of federal financial fraud, those plans are of course on hold. What’s more is that the couple will probably be off of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, and the show may be cancelled entirely. Considering that Joe faces separate, earlier charges for DUI and identity theft, it’s about time that these people stopped being rewarded for being shameless grifters.
Teresa and Joe Giudice face a fate worse than prison — getting their reality TV show canceled.
In the wake of their federal fraud indictments, Bravo executives are debating the future of “The Real Housewives of New Jersey,” on which Teresa is the fiercest of the fraus, sources told the Daily News.
The show about the lavish lifestyles of five Garden State gals is reality TV king Andy Cohen’s baby and has been a ratings hit.
But the show has become a headache for Bravo in light of the recent flurry of bad publicity about the Giudices.
“Nobody wants to see their talent in this kind of a situation,” a network source told The News.
Teresa has, in recent months, been pitching her own spinoff show to Bravo honchos, sources said.
“They are not interested,” said an insider. “Bravo only spins off happy situations — marriages, baby news. Not prison.”
There was no official comment from Bravo.
Word that the Jersey housewives might have a target on their backs came a day after Joe and his foul-mouthed parents engaged in boorish behavior before and after he and Teresa made their first appearance in Newark Federal Court.
Joe slapped a news camera out of the way, his parents swore at reporters, and his dad, Frank, capped it all by mooning the shutterbugs.
Teresa is in denial about the charges, which could send her and her husband to prison for 50 years, sources said.
“Teresa thinks people are coming after her because she is famous,” one source said. “She honestly thinks she has done nothing wrong.”
Neither Teresa, 41, nor her 43-year-old husband have entered a plea. And Teresa is letting Joe direct their defense strategy, sources said.
“She is old-fashioned and thinks her husband knows best,” a source said.
While Joe supported the family for years running everything from a stucco company to a pizzeria, Teresa now brings home the bacon.
The News goes on to detail Teresa’s spinoff pitch, which involves her opening a cupcake shop. She apparently stole the idea from her cousin, Kathy Wilke, who also appears on RHONJ. We know that Teresa has no qualms about stealing at all.
If RHONJ gets canceled due to Teresa and her Joe’s criminal activity, it seems like the rest of the cast is being punished for something they have no control over. It’s not like I care about the fate of the other Jersey housewives though. Bravo is the one who bears responsibility for giving these people a platform.
The Guidice’s passports were recently seized following a bond hearing, and Radar Online reports that it’s very likely that they would have tried to flee the country. Joe is not a US citizen, he was born in Italy and moved to the US when he was one. He has “permanent legal resident” status, but that won’t prevent him from being deported if any of the many charges against him stick. An attorney who won a 2007 fraud case against Joe tells Radar that Joe and Teresa are a flight risk. They both still have family in Italy and are thought to have money socked away there. Other people’s money.

I still don’t get it that there are some people who will lie to live above their means, and happily show it off.
Not only that, of course we only see a portion of their lives and what they are like on TV, but at the end of the day, don’t they realize that they are making themselves look bad, especially in front of their young daughters?

And yet they have fanatical fans who continue to defend and support them. Joe’s not a bad guy – look how much he loves his girls. Teresa’s not stupid – it’s just that English is her second language and she just plays dumb!
When all else fails, they point out how shifty the Gorgas and Lauritas are.
These two seem either not cognizant of or not caring of how their behavior impacts others, including their own children, other family and friends, the cast of a show that paid them plenty, etc. How can anyone rally behind these two, especially those close to them that are being screwed over by this? They deserve the shame an alienation.
I hope they cancel this show or just bring a new cast.

Definitely agree. The part of this show that I hate the most is that unlike other Housewives shows, they are all related in someway, and yet constantly tear each other down and burn bridges over petty, fame- or money-related BS. That’s your FAMILY, man. I just could never get over that aspect of it.
At the reunion Teresa will probably say, “This is how old school Italians do!” That’s her excuse for everything!

If Bravo is considering cancelling the series I can guarantee you that it is not only because of the Giudice’s but because the Laurita’s are not far behind. The Laurtia’s face a similar fate but far worse for corporate bank fraud that defrauded creditors of $55 million. Bravo knows all of this is coming down – the Giudice’s are the first, but certainly not the last to see this coming. Gorga’s and Manzo’s are not far behind…
I haven’t watched this show since season one, but just from the onset, all these characters seemed shifty…I mean all seemed to be doing “jobs” that weren’t on the up and up…I mean, I like to use cash on things, but there is something called a checkbook/debit card. Benjamins aren’t required for everything.
They’re definitely all shady. Andy wrote in his book that this was the only franchise where he was asked about people being audited because of the show.
I figured the other Housewives were so quiet because they had stuff to hide themselves.

Bravo didn’t cancel BH after Russell’s suicide. They won’t cancel this. And that quote about happy times being the focus of the Bravo shows is kind of baloney. Screeching cat fights, drunken women having nervous breakdowns. marriages crumbling. Happy times for sure.

I admit, I watch this show and literally fast forward most of the other characters parts, other than Theresa. Especially Jaqueline and the cousin. I’ll only watch Melissa for the T drama, which is usually all they have going on. The show revolves around her and I can’t see it surviving if she’s gone.

They would stagger their sentences, Teresa going in first and Joe to stay in for a looooong time, after she completes her sentence. LOL

This will sound harsh, but if both mommy and daddy do the crime then both mommy and daddy should do the time. From what I have read they both have family members who could take care of their children while both are incarcerated so it’s not like they would end up in foster care. The fact that their children could have both parents in prison at the same time should have been a consideration *for the parents* before they decided to scam the banks, not a consideration for the government after the fact.

I agree. If they are really that big, Italian family then a relative will take care of the girls. Once you have kids, you should be thinking about how your actions impact their lives…..unless of course you are this trashy, self-centered couple.

This couple is the reason I stopped watching. They were being rewarded for acting like scum and initiating their children into the grifter game. Greasy Joe calling her a c**t was the last straw for me.
I feel that Andy Cohen needs to take a huge hit for this. All his shows are chock full of the lowest form of humanity and it has just gone too far. Enough! Nene gets rewarded for laying her hands on a cast member, TWICE! I see red over this whenever I see Nene on another show. I have stopped watching Andy’s show as well, he chocks it full of mean girls and gutter snipes. No thanks!
As far as the cast for New Jerseyy, well they all need to go to jail, every last stinking one of them. Someone else said they are gypsies but I think they are not as smart as gypsies.
I am also sick of them speaking on behalf of Americans of Italians descent saying this is Italian or that and as one myself I look at them and laugh and say your certainly not my Italian. Where I come from we don’t act, talk or dress like them nor do the majority of other Americans of Italian ancestry in this country.
If Joe gets deported to Italy, that means he evades ALL prison time? How is that punishment? He’d love to be in Italy away from Tre!!

Wouldn’t a spin-off be ideal if they both go to prison? They have 4 children, and those kids would have to placed somewhere, likely within the family. From what I’ve seen on the show, Theresa’s parents are pretty old and not that healthy, and Joe’s parents seem to be as nasty as he is. Does that mean Theresa’s brother Joe would have to take them, I wonder?
Joe has at least one brother – Peter, the person who’s documents he was using to get a fake driver’s license.
Any Real Housewives show being cancelled is good news to me, but I doubt it’ll happen.

I watched the 1st and 2nd seasons, after that I got tired of the same formula for all of those yrs..its the same w/all of them.

Ok, so the only brainless, trash TV I watch (and I mean I DVR it so that I can watch something I don’t have to really think about while I run on the treadmill) is the RHONJ and the RHONY. I used to watch some of the other ones, but I only stuck with those two. A friend of mine whose mom lives in the same area of NJ as most of these women says the stuff Bravo doesn’t show is far juicier than the story lines they come up with for the show. The Lauritas and Gorgas also both have their own financial issues. Teresa is most definitely dumb and ignorant, but she’s not THAT dumb. She knew what Joe was doing. When they showed he opened up that pizza parlor, I thought that has to be a front. I feel sorry for the four young girls who have two aholes for parents and that have to watch this play out in public.
The show should be cancelled only because MOST of the cast members have had shady business dealings. The Giudices are not the only ones, and not the last. The Lauritas also lied about money raised for a charity and kept the money for themselves, something like $7Million. They should all be punished.

I had watched RHONJ since season 1, but I stopped recording & watching it this season. There is just nothing interesting about these vulgar, faux-riche, stupid, ignorant, and shady people. I stopped becuse I realized there was not even ONE character I still liked at ALL. I’m just embarrassed it took me so long, but thry were good mindless treadmill fare for a few years. I still watch NY and BH, but honestly I think they will be falling by the wayside for me too. These supposed “society” dames don’t even know proper English, and, more important, it’s getting to be an effort to like any of them at ALL. I believe the Housewives series may all have run their course and will prob die a natural death sooner rather than later.
If Bravo wouldn’t get rid of Taylor, the ultimate grifter, then why should they get rid of these two scam artists?
